Cyruss wrote: I signed up for roleplaymarket as well. Shot you a message via that site. Looking forward to playing. Oh, and for Garret "Sledge" Whitestone: Half-Orc Rogue I was wondering if you wanted to come up with a cool back story since Ill be a half-orc as well. Well, I already have a couple paragraphs of backstory in the profile here, so maybe you ran with me in the gang. I'm open to other scenarios. DM, I sent a message earlier through RoleplayMarket, but don't seem to have any response (I'm ghettowedge over there). I have no experience with the site, so I'm going to need some direction in getting my character over there. I think the character is entirely upgraded to PRPG. If Garret advances, I think he'll stay primarily rogue. Garret is a big happy guy, agreeable and willing to trust, but not an idiot. He likes having somebody else tell him what to do, but isn't hopeless on his own. He has an idyllic view of adventuring and his father and is eager to have his own. Life hasn't easy, but Garret has accepted everything that comes as normal. Damage to Omar = 13
"Give it up, Omar. I'm faster than you, I'm stronger than you, and I'm more committed to the cause than you."
Readied Attack = 18
Garret charges down the alley after Omar, still reluctant to kill him, but not willing to let him get away.
Let me know if I need damage rolls on either of those. "Now you're trapped, Omar. Our fate is your fate." Garret tries to maintain an outward calm as the situation worsens. "You ok, Basil?" I still want to maintain a ready action to partial charge this guy if he disappears or stabs. Let me know if I need to roll. Oh, and sorry for not realizing both gnolls were down. "Oh good, I was hoping for more creepy magic." Garret mumbles. Garret turns around in a tight circle with his blade ready. "This is your last chance Omar. That gnoll won't hold out long against Dresden, and then he'll come for you. Give me a reason not to kill you." Garret readies to attack Omar if he becomes visible and seems hostile.
Garret lands hard, but retains his footing. "Where have you guys been? Gentlemen, meet Omar. Dresden wants him alive, but neither of them has given me any reason not to kill this hired killer. I assume Dresden is keeping the gnolls busy, so now might be a good time to start talking." Initiative = 17
Garret grabs his bow and leaps of the building.
Everybody I ever knew is dead or dying because of some power play that doesn't have anything to do with me. Dresden and Omar are pursuing their own angendas. The only people that have tried to help me are lost somewhere down there because I thought I'd find some answers up here... "There he is Dresden, or there he was at least." Garret lets the bow fall from his hands as he draws his falchion. With a grim look on his face, Garret swipes at the rope.
After a quick look over his shoulder for any sign that he's not alone Garret continues, "I'm not coming closer unless you give me a reason to. It looks like the priest wasn't so holy and maybe he deserved what he got. I just want answers. Who hired you and why? What do you know about a GraveMaster Khale and Doresain... and Dresden?" Garret then gestures towards the square full of corpses, "Who did this and why?" Keep the bow readied, let me know if you need another attack roll. Garret's intent right now is to buy time and keep the assassin from getting away. Hopefully the others are on their way. Garret draws his bow and draws a bead on the cloaked figure. "Stop right there. I need answers right now, and not another corpse. Who are you and why did you kill the priest? Weren't the undead enough?" I'll ready to shoot the cloaked figure if anyone attacks me. Hopefully, while he's still balancing, he'll be flat-footed. Just in case I need it...
Balance = 20, 18, 17
As to Jump check, if I take a 10 I get a 26, which clears 26 feet on a running jump or 13 feet standing. Will I need to jump any further than that? Garret tucks the grappling hook into his belt as he sits down at the edge of the roof. He wraps his legs around the tightrope and grabs it with both hands. He swings himself over the edge and climbs across, hand over hand. It should be DC 15 to get across, so I'll take the -5 to move at half speed instead of quarter speed and then taking ten will get me all the way across with one action. Garret is not oblivious to the sudden dissappearance of his new-found allies. Dealt too many choices, though, he's going to continue with the one that seems most important. As he makes his way across the rooftops, Garret uncoils the rope he hasn't had a chance to put away. Garret maintains hold of the grappling hook and throws the rest down to the street. Hopefully the others will see it and follow. He can't risk shouting, especially with the others trapped down there. Garret points north, "There he is, about 200 feet away and moving." DM, is it possible to get the 20 feet needed to get a running start on the roof? If so I'm jumping.
North = 20; South = 18; East = 10; West = 25 Garret takes it all in. The destruction is too much. It doesn't matter if he's stops it now. This city, his home, will never be the same. He can't let it spread. "It's a deal. We'll... I can't speak for anyone else, but I'll help you." "Dresden, how do you know he won't be the person to save all of us? I'm not for sending anybody to their death just to buy a few seconds." "I'll go first and then help pull out the others." Garret then steadies himself in Thale's hand and pulls himself through the window, bringing the rope and hook with him. And a second later he whispers, "It's secure." I take a 10 on my Climb and get a 20. Once up top I'll wedge the grappling hook and get ready to start helping the others. "Simple logic for you, Dresden. Those things kill someone and one rises. Do we need more of 'em?" "Thale, it's barely ten feet high. Give 'em a boost. We don't got time for knots. And I could use a boost right now" Assuming Thale gives me a hand...
Garret softly pads over to underneath the skylight while pulling out his rope and grappling hook.
He whispers "We can't fight the entire city full of undead. If we stay here, that's what we'll eventually have to do. If the assassin did go up, as the ghoul says, then we may be able to catch sight of him before he's out of the city." Reflex save = 16
And now I can only assume it's time for initiative.
Not sure if I need this, but...
I yell back to the knight, "You're right, but I wasn't planning on raising a family here anyways. Let's just get these doors blocked and then we should have a minute to check as a group." And then with a last look outside at the half-elf being overwhelmed, I try to get the door shut. Strength check = 6
I attack one of the zombies in the door as I yell for the barely visible half-elf to hurry.
Noticing that I'm the only one that doesn't seem completely crippled by Invisible Castle, I thought I'd post the link to all of my rolls to show IC doesn't hate everyone. Catching sight of the knight moving towards the stairs I say, "Hold up, Basil." And in close to a whisper, "I don't think you want to face whatever's behind this alone." Maybe send some of them redshirts you got with you ;) The first grapple check, to resist on the zombie's turn:
I believe that resists, so on my turn I hack at the zombie again.
I'll 5-foot adjust closer to the knight and his zombie and yell across the square to those still resisting. "We have to get out of here! Make your way to the Sea Spray Inn!", and I'll gesture towards the inn. DM, any information you're willing to give is gladly appreciated. As I move to flank with the knight I speak "So what's the plan, Basil? I'm all for protecting the populace, but whoever did this had bigger plans at the inn." Attack roll = 14 already added the flank I hit with an 11? I wish I had Power Attack.
I keep working on the corpse. If the corpse drops, I'll move to a flanking position with the knight. Turning towards the hooded figures, "Somebody really needs to do something about..." Splat!! "...that." I'd also like to try a Knowledge: local check =10 Patrick Murphy wrote: Garret the roll is executd perfectly by puts you out of range for an attack. The thugs facing you start to turn around. I guess I tumbled too far? I'll close with the thugs and keep swinging. I'll draw a weapon only if the thugs do first. And should I roll another attack or do you want to use the last one?
