About Gan Laccaran

Gan's Story:

I am Gan Laccaran and am man of the world. I love to travel. I was born in the Shackles and could not wait to get away. My mother is both a pirate and a whore and did very little to care for me. I left my homeland at a young age to explore the world and find adventure wherever I could. After some years spent seeing the sights and visiting various cities he made a habit of mapping all the places he had been. I grew accustom to visiting as many places as possible in my lifetime. Soon I became quite interested in the sea. I spent a few years wandering the lands beyond the Shackles but in reality, I missed the sounds of the sea. I returned to the sea to take any job that would have me out in the open see. I didn’t care what work I’d be doing just so long as I could be sailing. I joined up with a group of Privateers and spent much time working the rigging and other parts of the ship. However, I got many opportunities to visit new lands and was even involved in a couple of ship to ship battles. In that time I learned how to use firearms. Musket being my favorite of course. It was dangerous work sailing with privateers. My training was an essential choice for this particular job. For a few years I hadn't been quite able to strike a big find or really get anywhere. My mentor, the ships First mate Briggans made all the discoveries and taught me how to get the most out of every find and how to profit even as the ship’s second. Thing was, all the important roles on the ship were filled. Briggans would often tell me there was little opportunity on a privateer ship once I had learned all the basics. I would be better off joining a fresh crew to start making my future. I took these words seriously and worked hard to finish my training. Once I was ready I left my mentor and the other privateers and returned home to the Shackles to start my glorious career as a true buccaneer. My dream was cut short when I learned my mother was gravely sick and dying. I didn’t like her much but she was my mother and I owed it to her to make sure her last days were as comfortable as possible. I would entertain her with stories of the sites I had seen and adventures I had. It was then that my mother told me how much I had become like my father. This was the first time in my life I had ever heard I had a known father. I had always presumed I was a product of a whore’s work. He was her real husband and had died while she was still pregnant with me. She admitted she did not love him because he would often abandon her for adventures on the high seas, but I was his son all the same. He was a pirate whom she had met at sea and when she was pregnant he had slated for one final adventure. She then told me of the Cyclops empire Ghol-Gan for which I was named after. Apparently this was the last place my father would adventure to and find his fortune and retire to raise me with my mother. This whole dream of finally having a real family fell through when my father had died trying to find the place and left my mother alone with me. Then I ran off and she had only become more depressed. In only a few days she had passed away leaving me with only one choice. It was time to make something of myself. I was directed to the Formidably Maid where I was told I might find a crew in need of my skills. My mother had a pet monkey that I bought for her while she was sick to keep her company. She gave it the name Guinness Flingspoo as sort of a joke but the name stuck. So now that she was dead, the monkey was mine. He and I got along well enough for now I suppose but hopefully we will get to know one another better on this new venture. He joined me in my hunt for a fresh crew. However, things didn’t quite go as planned…..as it turns out I really don’t remember what happened next….

Gan's Appearance:

I am a wiry individual who wears a sort of dressy looking Explorer's clothes like that of a professional gunman/sailor. I have my brown hair cut short and kind of messy looking. I also have light stubble going around my chin. I am fairly tall, about six feet in height and have my handy whip with me everywhere I go. I am also seen with a small spider monkey on my shoulder the creature seems quite intelligent as it commonly responds to me as though it can understand me. I have deep brown eyes that hold much intelligence and have witnessed many things in my travels.

Gan's Build:

Gan was built to be a very open minded sailor gunman type character. I will be taking Gunslinger all the way and have many focuses. Gan will provide fire support and play out the role of an adventurous buccaneer. I will be building him to revolve around fire arms and shipwork but I have decent enough of land build too. I think I did quite well with this concept.
Gan is also accompanied by a Spider Monkey he calls Guinness Flingspoo. Guinness is good for retrieving items and scouting. He is also a backup plan if things go wrong(GMs Approval only). Otherwise Guinness is simply a tiny funny furry friend who has some odd quirks, silly actions, and is otherwise useless. This monkey will play the role of my familiar at level 5 of the Buccaneer Archetype of Gunslinger so I figured I would just have him present now rather than have him crawl out of nowhere. He will just be better trained at level 5.

Gan's Personality:

I am a light hearted individual who walks the fence of life's debates. I am a distinct lover of the sea and I travel it with whom I will. I love a good laugh and am very easy going. I like people and will enjoy any good conversation. I am very glass is half full, always optimistic. I do know when to keep quiet though. I do recognize when things get serious and can be just as stern and serious if the situation merits it. I am usually kind hearted but also believe in necessary evils and won't hesitate to do what is necessary to survive or achieve what I want. I will also lower myself to any deed to get the job done. I won't commit evil outright but I do not have a problem with committing it if there is no other viable option. I don’t worry too much about the company I keep and will work with anyone to achieve my goals. Being raised in a broken home with a destroyed future is my motivation to succeed and do whatever I have to in order to achieve the future my parents lost and my dreams of becoming a famous buccaneer. Doesn’t matter who I join or what I have to do to get there. The ends justify the means in my opinion.
