Seeing herself as the final defense against the undead and those who create them, the death warden has spent more of her time dealing with the dead than interacting with the living. This has caused her to be rather abrupt and taciturn in nature, making her much less diplomatic than her paladin counterpart. Completely devoted to the tenets of the Lady of Graves, the death warden is one alignment step further from her deity than a paladin normally allows. Yet, despite being a follower of the neutral Pharasma, she is as stringent in her code and concepts of honor as any.

Class Skills: Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (history) (Int), Knowledge (local) (Int), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Sense Motive (Wis), and Spellcraft (Int).

Detect Undead (Sp): Replacing the Detect Evil ability, this functions in the same manner, but uses the detect undead spell instead.

Smite Undead (Su): This ability functions only against undead, but otherwise is the same as Smite Evil, which it replaces. Remember to add twice the death warden’s level to damage rolls made against the target.

Aura of Prophecy (Su): At 3rd level, the death warden can use the spell death ward once per week with a caster level equal to her class level. For every three levels attained, an additional use is gained per week (twice at 6th level, three at 9th, etc.).

Aura of Diligence (Su): This replaces the Aura of Justice ability, functioning in the same manner, but only in regards to undead.

Aura of Apotropaics (Su): Substituting undead for evil for the DR, this ability functions the same as the Aura of Righteousness, which it replaces.

Fate’s Guardian (Su): At 20th level, a death warden becomes suffused with the power of Pharasma. When using smite undead, a successful strike causes the target to be hit with disrupting weapon, using her level in place of caster level. If the undead is not immediately destroyed by the disrupting weapon, they still take the maximum damage possible for the blow. After the attack is resolved, the smite immediately ends. Additionally, the death warden’s DR increases to 10/undead. Whenever she must make any saving throw against a spell or effect caused by an undead, she may roll twice and use the better result. In addition, whenever she channels positive energy or uses lay on hands to heal a creature, she heals the maximum possible amount. This replaces the Holy Champion ability.
Death Warden (Paladin)

My name is Sue, and this is my third year entering RPG Superstar.

I am an avid gamer, have been into RPGs since the original little pink D&D books hit my area back in 1978 :) I have probably tried, and might own, just about every system out there, but I constantly have returned to D&D/AD&D over the years, until 4E came out. It was not my cup of tea, and I was thrilled to discover Paizo and Pathfinder for my style of gaming.

I've been very lucky to be married to another avid gamer for twenty-four years and counting. We share GMing duties with a good friend, alternating currently between three ongoing Pathfinder campaings (Runelords, Crimson Throne and Second Darkness) and are loving every moment of them. I am the proud pet of a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Max, and work in an after-school program with children, many of which I have interested in gaming and Pathfinder :)

What do I do when not designing ... in no particular order I write fanfiction, do needlework of all kinds, paint lead figures, do crosswords, play games of all varieties and flavors, read voraciously, collect all kinds of things, do other crafts as the mood strikes, spend far too much time in front of the computer, etc. :)

At this moment, I'm not wearing shoes LOL! Being a Southern California gal, barefoot is better. But I am still vibrating with surprise over making it into the top 32, and while I hope to continue on, just getting here is a great, great honor and thrill.

Weird advice ... keep trying, keep creating, and keep entering. Look for items that are not just "here's this spell, let's make an item using it" ... any potion or scroll can do that. Look at your own game, and listen to what folks are saying, or wishing they could do - is there something that does that? If not, is it practical or feel a true need? If so, see if you can make such an item. And a really big point I've learned, if you can't describe it in the words alloted ... it is probably way to complex an item :)

Hope that answers some of your questions about me, and I'll be seeing ya'll around!
Howdy :)

I would like to say a very personal thank you to all the fine folks at Paizo for creating such a wonderful world to ramble around in. I've been playing Dungeons and Dragons since those little pink books in the white box came out, and was a completely devoted fan to the Forgotten Realms for years. And I must say that with the appearance of Pathfinder and the World of Golarion my enjoyment of the game has been completely revitalized! Thank you for your inspiration.
And now comes the "fun" part of answering without overtalking ::chuckle::

Created by the followers of Pharasma, this unleavened wafer is blessed with the power of the Lady of Graves. When placed within the mouth of a deceased humanoid, it binds with its dead flesh, rendering the corpse incapable of rising as a member of the undead. This holds true for all forms of undeath: whether the deceased died of ghoul fever, blood draining from a vampire, or the use of necromantic powers to create a skeleton or zombie, this prevents the corpse from rising as one of the cursed undead.

A death sacrament must be used within one hour of death for its power to be of any use. It does not impede resurrection or reincarnation, both of which are viewed as acceptable within the tenets of the Fateful Church of Pharasma. If a corpse treated with the sacrament is later raised or resurrected, there is no lingering protection from becoming an undead creature.

I think we finally made it back to our safe castle without dying, but without managing to kill anything except the few orcs that trailed us back to base. Two great examples:

#1 While wandering through a dungeon, which is mostly natural terrain, the party enters a dank, dark room with a HUGE plant at one end. The flowers on this plant are a noxious color, and are waving around slightly. While the rest of the party takes one look and thinks "this ain't good, avoid it," the player of the only healer decides to walk up and sniff the flowers! One initiative round later, she's wrapped up in vines, completely out of it from the euphoria toxin on the plant, and the rest of the party are trying to figure out how to free her (ignoring the mutterings from a couple party members to leave her there).

#2 In an MMO, there was a GM event, with some supernasty looking Spectres floating around, emoting to the zone "KILL!" and similar sentiments. What does our player do? Walks up to the floating monstrosities and asks "How can I help you?" (I know one of the GMs for this MMO, she was there on the other end of the whole thing.) After a moment of sheer blinking on the part of the GMs, they responded "You can DIE!" and punted the player with a knockback effect that blasted her across the entire zone, to splat against the far walls of the city.
