My question for the community, and for the SFS dev team if they happen up this thread, is in regard to the AbadarCorp Augmentation boon from scenario 1-10 The Half-Alive Streets, the text for which is quoted below.

AbadarCorp Augmentations:
AbadarCorp Augmentations (Social Boon; Limited Use) wrote:
AbadorCorp has made you a special offer after you helped maintain the stability of their Freemarkets by keeping illegal augmentations off the streets. At the end of a scenario where you have this boon slotted, you can purchase one or more augmentations from the Starfinder Core Rulebook and receive a one-time 20% discount. If the item level of the augmentation is 8 or more, then you receive only a 10% discount on that augmentation. For each augmentation you purchase in this manner, check one of the boxes on this boon. Once you checked all three boxes, you can no longer receive this discount on future purchases.

The questions I have relate specifically to how this boon might interact with the purchase of personal upgrade augmentations.

Q1) Can I apply the AbadarCorp Augmentations boon to the upgrade cost of a personal upgrade of 5100cr, so that improving a Mk. 1 upgrade to a Mk. 2 would only cost me 4080 (5100*0.8=4080)?

Q2) Am I correctly reading the AbadarCorp Augmentations boon to suggest that I could check multiple boxes to buy more than one augmentation after slotting the boon in a given scenario? And if so, does that mean I can improve my existing Mk. 1 PU to a Mk. 2 for 4080cr, then also buy a new Mk. 1 for 1120cr (1600*0.8=1120)?

Welcome and thanks for signing up for this run of "Heart of the Foe" folks!

First off, I'd like to introduce myself a bit to those of you who haven't played with me before. I'm GM Mjolbeard. I've been playing SFS since its debut, much of which has included PBP as a venue. I highly value the game, and love to do as much as I can to throw in a lot of role-play with my roll-play, as the saying goes. With that in mind, here are a few expectations that I will hold for myself as well as my players in this game:

RULE THE FIRST: FUN + RESPECT = YAY!:
We are all here to have a good time, show off our characters, and enjoy a good story. A key way that you can help everyone to achieve those goals is to make sure you show respect for your fellow players, your GM (That's me!), and the non-player characters in these stories. So, for example, even if it's part of your character's background that they are a giant flirt or if you like to give super grisly descriptions of how your character finishes off an enemy, make sure to ask your fellow players if they are comfortable with that kind of role play before you engage in it with their characters. NOTE: If anyone has any particular modes of role play with which you are especially uncomfortable, please let me know either in this thread or in a PM, and I will let the whole table know, without calling out that person specifically, that that given behavior will be off-limits for the scenario. Violators of this prohibition will receive a warning via PM, and future infractions could result in a player being asked to leave the table.

RULE THE SECOND: POSTING RATE:
Please try to maintain a posting rate of 1+ post/weekday. Weekends are almost always busier for me than weekdays in one way or another, so I may or may not post during that timeframe. I'd accept the same from you. Within those posting rates, I'd love to see as much role-play from each of you as you feel comfortable with. Particularly good role-play can potentially earn things like circumstance bonuses on various rolls!

RULE THE THIRD: BOTTING INSTRUCTIONS:
If there is a situation in which you won't be able to keep up with the requested posting rate from the previous rule, please give me some notice, preferably ahead of time, though late is better than never in last minute situations. I will then "bot" your character for the period you indicated you would be absent, or will ask a player to do so if you are comfortable with that instead.
In order to make sure I am sticking as close as possible to the way you would want your character to be played, please include Botting Instructions in your character's profile, including descriptions of your usual strategies and dice macros for your most common combat actions.

RULE THE FOURTH: HELP YOUR GM OUT:
Please list important information about your character in the Classes/Levels section of your stat block. Important information includes, at minimum, your character's current SP, HP, RP, KAC, EAC, save bonuses, and spell slots remaining (if applicable). Please also have your full character sheet available in your character's profile. If you're at all unsure what I'm talking about, feel free to take a look at my SFS characters for some examples.

RULE THE FIFTH: USE OF SPOILERS:
Spoilers will be used in a number of situations throughout this game. I'll roll initiative for combats and perception for potential surprise situations in spoilers. I'll also provide information for knowledge checks in spoilers with the DCs listed. Finally, if I have some important information to communicate to a specific PC, I will put their name in the spoiler title. Please refrain from reading the spoilers unless you make the DC with the appropriate skill check or your name is specifically listed on the spoiler tag.

We will begin play with the start of Gameday VIII on August 26, but in the meantime, please do me a favor and post the information for your character requested below using the template I've provided. This will make things easier for me when it comes time for reporting and putting together chronicles, so this is for your benefit too! You can also dot in on the Gameplay thread with your character of choice.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Super excited to hear more about the evolution of the campaign setting! ISWG and Pact Worlds have been two of my absolute favorite books from Paizo, so I can't wait to see the state of the world starting in the new edition.

And I gotta say, just based on evocative names, I think "Saga Lands" is my favorite so far!

A cluster of sleek black computers rests against the far wall of the meeting room. The Starfinder Society emblem at the center of the server cluster shines and begins projecting a stream of holographic light. The light takes the form of a humanoid figure bereft of any definition, standing at the end of the meeting table closest to the servers.

“Greetings, I am Guidance. I have a new assignment for you. Please observe.”[b] The projection gestures a flicking hand to its side, and a stream of data detailing an outpost made of interconnected circular chambers scrolls beside it. [b]“One of the Pact Worlds’ most prestigious organizations recently discovered a dataset detailing the location of an outpost abandoned over two hundred years ago. The organization has requested that the Starfinder Society dispatch a team of agents to secure the site, along with any remaining equipment or data. Your team will travel to this outpost and retrieve as much information about it as possible. You should also salvage any relevant equipment, which the Society will take as part of its payment. If you have questions, now is the time to present them.”

"So the king of the Geats
raised his hand and struck hard
at the enamelled scales, but scarcely cut through:
the blade flashed and slashed yet the blow
was far less powerful than the hard-pressed king
had need of at that moment. The mound-keeper
went into a spasm and spouted deadly flames:
when he felt the stroke, battle-fire
billowed and spewed." (Beowulf, lines 2575-2583)

2) Please list important information about your character in the Classes/Levels section of your stat block. Please also have your full character sheet available in your character's profile. If you're at all unsure what I'm talking about, feel free to take a look at my SFS characters for some examples.
3) I'll roll initiative for combats and perception for potential surprise situations. I'll also provide information for knowledge checks in spoilers with the DCs listed. Please refrain from reading the spoilers unless you make the DC with the appropriate skill check.

That's it for the most part. As far as start date goes, this game will be run during Session 2 of PbP Gameday VII, which starts on October 1, 2018. That will be quite a wait, but it does give us all plenty of time to gear up for the game. For now, please provide the information for your character requested below using the template I've provided. You can also dot in on the gameplay thread with your character of choice.

Welcome and thanks for signing up for this run of the "Into the Unknown" quest series folks!

First off, I'd like to introduce myself a bit to those of you who haven't played with me before. I'm GM Mjolbeard. I've been playing SFS since its debut last year, much of which has included PBP as a venue. I highly value the game, and love to do as much as I can to throw in a lot of role-play with my roll-play, as the saying goes. With that in mind, here are a few expectations that I will hold for myself as well as my players in this game:

1) Please try to maintain a posting rate of 1+ post/weekday. Weekends are almost always busier for me than weekdays in one way or another, so I may or may not post during that timeframe. I'd accept the same from you. Within those posting rates, I'd love to see as much role-play from each of you as you feel comfortable with. Particularly good role-play can potentially earn things like circumstance bonuses on various rolls.
2) Please list important information about your character in the Classes/Levels section of your stat block. Please also have your full character sheet available in your character's profile. Honorbound Emissaries

You are hastily summoned to the Lorespire Complex by Venture-Captain Arvin. For now, the venture captain appears to be attending to business outside of his office, giving you time to converse among yourselves and to get to know one another.

Honorbound Emissaries

Venture Captain Sheila Heidmarch was the one to summon you to Magnimar before you set out aboard the Winking Wyvern in the morning, but she is not the only one with interest in your expedition to Rivenrake Island. Letters from your various faction leaders arrive almost as soon as you set foot in the Lodge in Magnimar.

Grand Lodge:
Loyal Pathfinder,
It is my understanding that the excavation on Rivenrake Isle has been a long and most grueling effort for the workers hired by the Society. The Aspis Consortium spreads rumors that we treat people in our employ with brutality. As we wish to maintain a reputation as a fair and humane employer, see to it that any of the workers who may have sustained injury in the course of their labors receives appropriate care. The archaeologists and agents can see after themselves (they’re loyal Pathfinders, after all), but effort must be exerted to prove that the Society has a proper concern for even our laborers.
Success!
Venture-Captain Ambrus Valsin

Silver Crusade:
Champion of Light,
It has been brought to my attention that your mission calls you into the ruins of Bakrakhan—a place known for depravity and violence. Our prayers go with you in that dark place, where I hope you can bring some light. Cults in Bakrakhan were said to have appalling practices such as sacrificing unwilling victims, malforming their bones and bodies into inhuman forms, and displaying the preserved bodies in their temples like trophies. If you should come across such unfortunates, anoint their remains with the holy oil I provide with this note. We believe this simple act releases souls suffering unspeakable torment.
May Right Prevail,
Ollysta Zadrian

Cheliax/Dark Archive:
Treasured Plaything,
Your task on Rivenrake Island puts you in close proximity to an errant servant of mine who appears to have forgotten her commitments. Halla Beusophis is a Pathfinder archaeologist of some skill working at the Xin-Bakrakhan dig site. She has failed to follow through on a contract signed with me. I require that you firmly remind her of her legal obligations which seems to have slipped her mind—doubtlessly the fault lies in my sweet and indulgent nature. Persuade dear Halla that wisdom lies in abiding by the terms of our contract regarding “the Egorian business”—use those words, and also inform her that I will soon pay a visit to Egorian myself. Remind her that I upheld my end of the bargain, and she has yet to do the same.
My Most Tender Regards,
Paracountess Zarta Dralneen

Qadira/The Exchange:
Servant of the Satrap,
A sea journey lies in your immediate future and I require that you bear a gift to the captain of your ship. Haerla Skolet is her name. Our sources report that she has family in Janderhoff’s mercantile community. Present her with the enclosed jeweled sextant and request that she serve as an agent of our interests—future rewards would be forthcoming. As a way of sealing this little deal, ask that she reveal the names of two Janderhoff trade officials who might be ripe for a bit of blackmail or bribery. Those names are worth far more than the six gems fixed to the sextant. As always, let discretion be your watchword.
Warmest Regards,
Trade Prince Aaqir al’Hakam

Andoran/Liberty's Edge:
Agent of Liberty,
The Vanderales merchant family based in Magnimar sometimes hires out skilled labor to landowners and organizations around Varisia. They have a reputation for ruthlessness with such laborers and deal harshly with anyone stirring up unrest. We wish to establish a clandestine presence within this organization as a means of fomenting reform. However, as yet we don’t have the trust of Magnimar’s common people. Vanderales workers are employed at the dig on Rivenrake where your assignment leads you. Please use your powers of persuasion to convince one of them to carry the enclosed message to One-Leg Betram, a well-regarded Vanderales middle manager in the city sympathetic to our concerns. He is more likely to greet our overtures favorably if they come from a Vanderales worker.
For Freedom!
Major Colson Maldris

Osirion/Scarab Sages:
Loyal Seeker of Knowledge,
We are most interested in gaining a deeper understanding of the faiths of the ancient Thassilonians, since the curse that has befallen the Ruby Prince came from that ancient place. Your trip to the Rivenrake dig offers the perfect opportunity. Should you come upon any priestly vestments, shrine engravings, or other religious accoutrements, please examine them for inscriptions or interesting designs, making precise copies for our further investigation. Your efforts to expand our comprehension of antiquity are most appreciated, and it may be the key to healing the Ruby Prince—blessings be upon his exalted name.
With Duty to Our Ancestors,
Amenopheus, the Sapphire Sage

Taldor/Sovereign Court:
Agent of the Empire,
It’s been said that in order to secure the future, one must first secure the past. A rather precious item was pilfered from an excavation sponsored by the crown a few years back—a rare jade figurine of a two-headed lion. This item is an insignia of a prominent house which has since relocated to Magnimar. If we can retrieve this item, perhaps we can reinvigorate the sense of aristocracy they once had in Taldor. The thief was reportedly an archaeologist and foreigner—Keleshite, I believe—named Kovo Murse. I understand your most recent endeavor takes you to his latest dig on Rivenrake Island. Our agents have surmised that Murse has kept the lion for himself. I require that you retrieve it, through use of reason or wrath, I care not which—deal how you see fit
with one who would steal our national heritage from us.
For the Everlasting Glory of the Empire,
Lady Gloriana Morilla

Each of you receives a carefully rolled papyrus scroll, held in place by a thin red cord. Finding the scroll to be innocent enough, you untie the cord and find the following missive contained within:

Pathfinder,
An artifact lost out of the distant past has been found again, but not by our own agents. Luckily, the artifact is still within our grasp, but I find myself in need of skilled agents to carry out the transaction to obtain it on my behalf. After communicating with the venture-officers at your local lodges, I believe your skills will suffice.
Make your way to the Farseer Tower Lodge in Katapesh, where I will brief you and the other agents I've summoned further. Do not delay. This is a rare opportunity for the Society to unlock a great many mysteries of the past. I will expect you at Farseer Tower in one week's time.

I highly value the game, and love to do as much as I can to throw in a lot of role-play with my roll-play. Welcome and thanks for signing up for this run of the Scions of the Sky Key series, folks!

First off, I must confess that this is my second time in the GM seat, so we may have one or two sketchy spots here and there, but I'm always open to constructive criticism and advice, so we can definitely still have a great time. I've been playing PFS for about 2 years now, about two thirds of which has included PBP as a venue. I mention this to reassure you that, despite my relative lack of experience on this side of the table, I do value the game and will do my best to make it a fun experience for all. With that in mind, here are a few expectations that I will hold for myself as well as my players:

1) Please try to maintain a posting rate of 1+ post/weekday. Weekends are almost always busier for me than weekdays in one way or another, so I may or may not post during that timeframe. I'd accept the same from you.

3) I'll roll initiative for combats and perception for potential surprise situations. I'll also provide information for knowledge checks in spoilers with the DCs listed. Please refrain from reading the spoilers unless you make the DC with the appropriate skill check.

That's it for the most part. As far as start date goes, I'll get things going once the Blood Under Absalom special wraps up. For now, please visit the On the Table link above or the SoSK link in my header, head to the second page, and fill in the requested info for your character. You can also dot in on the gameplay thread with your character of choice.

One final note: James, I noticed the two characters you listed as available for this series were in different sub-tiers. It looks like everyone else is low sub-tier, which means you could still play your higher tier character, but would just the out of tier rewards for the scenarios if you chose to do so. Just wanted to let you know your options!

With all that out of the way, all that remains is for me to say thanks again for joining me, and happy gaming!

Dot here.

Hey there, GMs! So a few fellow players and I recently were selected for a Northlands Saga campaign. After posting the initial scene of the campaign, however, our GM dropped off the face of the earth. It has now been almost three weeks since that initial post, and we have heard nothing from our wayward GM, despite our group's ongoing RP in the thread and a couple PMs trying to see if he's still with the game.

As a result, I'm here representing our group in search of a new GM. We would love to continue the Northlands Saga campaign with what remains of our group (4-5 of our original 6), but are also open to playing a different Norse-themed campaign/AP, and possibly also Reign of Winter. If you would like, we would also be open to you recruiting new players to get our party back to full size.

If any of you lovely folks would like to pick up our group, please PM me. You can check out our gameplay thread here. Thanks for your consideration, ladies and gents!
