:-)

Setting this campaign to "inactive." Have a great day!

Silver Crusade

Table reporting has been submitted to the convention staff through the form that they provided. I'll leave this game "active" until tomorrow.

Thanks, again, to all of you for playing! :)

Thanks. Your chronicle sheet is available.

Most of your chronicle sheets are now available.

@Claudia: May I please have your PFS number for reporting?

Silver Crusade

The grippli fiend-keepers carefully manipulate the wards to allow the Pathfinders to deliver the killing blow. Parveen shrieks in pain, then laughs maniacally as her soul begins its journey toward reincarnation.

The loss of life experienced by the Consortium's allies in the Vanji Prospector's Guild has also soured that relationship, loosening the Aspis foothold in Bloodcove and undermining their prospects in the Kaava Lands even further.

Scenario over!

Thank you for playing. I'll work on chronicle sheets this weekend and submit reporting to the convention folks.

Your faction glyphs indicate that none of you are exchange faction. For those of you who are curious, there was a sub-mission for the exchange:
__________

Exchange Letter:
Most Esteemed Associate,

Current events in the Kaava Lands have made it clear that the Aspis Consortium remains a stubborn and persistent danger to both our own operations in the area and the region at large. Given that the Consortium has acquired strong allies in the Vanji Prospector’s Guild, so too must we seek a way to strengthen our own position in the region. As such, I am entrusting you with certain privileges to act as an authorities on our behalf, with control of resources capable of effecting significant change in the region.

While the precise details of how to use these resources are not clear to me at present, I trust that your discerning eye can find an appropriate opportunity to either undermine the Consortium’s operations in the region, or to strengthen our ties with existing allies in the region. Do note that these resources are not to be put to use for exploratory purposes, but must be used to either exploit actionable information on the Consortium’s operations or reinforce our position with established allies. In such precarious times, it is unwise to take significant risks on dubious prospects.

Bargain wisely, my friend,
Trade Prince Aaqir al’Hakam

Purpurrup is unable to respond. The grippli fiend-keepers are all working to contain Parveen. This decision is completely up to you Pathfinders.

Looks like the tally so far is 4 to slay and 1 undecided?

Silver Crusade

Please roll for your boons. Roll a d20. On a result of 19 or 20, roll a d3 to determine which boon you've won.

boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 8

The Player Boons for PFS 1E are:

1. Traveler of an Unstable Timeline
2. Share the Wealth (Companions)
3. Expedition Manager

You may also roll your day job checks.

I have PFS numbers for Kelson, Anthys, and Kalia. I need numbers for Marcus and Claudia, please.

Silver Crusade

Parveen roars as the last of the original set of possessed humanoids is defeated!

Purpurrup urges the others in the ritual: "Hurry! We must push before Parveen can possess another of us!"

A surge of effort from the grippli causes the asurendra to collapse within the summoning circle. The possessed fiend-keeper falls unconscious--released from Parveen's influence.

---------- Combat over! ----------

Mother Bogwynne arrives with a contingent of the gripplis. She quickly discerns what has happened, and she consults briefly with Purpurrup. She then turns to you Pathfinders: "The Consortium has done their harm, and Parveen will be free if we do not act. The fiend-keepers believe that Parveen’s wards have been interfering with their own rituals and techniques, and it may be possible for a group of fiend-keepers to keep her properly contained if we can replace the damaged wards with new totems to channel her power and disperse her will. The issue we are faced with in this solution is that it requires the efforts of fiend-keepers from several tribes and expensive components. Without some form of outside assistance, any other significant disturbance—such as another Aspis incursion—would unleash Parveen upon us all."

Mother Bogwynne’s long tongue darts out in an anxious flicker before she continues. "We have one other option before us, and that is to strike now and kill the monster while we can. If we do this, she will not stay gone forever, though she should reincarnate as a weaker asura. Her rage will know no bounds, but her power will be diminished and we should have quite a few years to prepare for her return. As your Society has prevented her escape on more than one occasion, it falls to you to make the final determination of Parveen’s fate. What shall we do?"

Your choices are (A) commit significant resources to keep Parveen contained, or (B) slay this incarnation of Parveen knowing the Society will earn the asura's eternal enmity and will have a conflict with a free (though diminished) Parveen at some unknown point in the future.

GM, we'll need a ruling on how or if rings of tactical precision stack.

For purposes of Aid Another, both Anthys and Marcus are wearing Rings of Tactical Precision

Each one gives an untyped +1 to aid checks given or received. It isn't clear if two rings of the same type stack or count as the same source, or whether the bonus boost to give and received would both function even if they were.

Marcus gives +6 to AC aid from this +1 Benevolent Armor, Helpful trait, and Ring of Tactical Precision. Does Anthys get the additional +1 from receiving Aid due to his ring?

Let's see...

(1) You both expended significant resources in terms of your build and your equipment to achieve this cooperative benefit.
(2) The difference in question is only +1.
(3) The bonus is untyped.
(4) There are two different rings used by two different PCs. This could be interpreted as two different sources.

Sure. They stack. :)

OK, thanks for the clarification. Please feel free to go ahead and post, anyway. :)

The party continues forward.
__________

Area B4. This room terminates in a wall of stone and iron, seemingly newer than the rest of the complex, decorated with glowing runes and symbols. A hole large enough for two humans walking side by side has been hacked through the wall with mining tools, revealing a staircase that spirals down into the darkness beneath the temple.

Purpurrup gasps in dismay and says as he surveys the runes: "The stone-and-iron wall along the south side of this room served as one of the layered wards containing Parveen’s power. We must hurry!"
__________

Great stone stairs reach their end well below the surface, terminating in a fifteen-foot-wide corridor whose length suggests a larger structure than what appears above the earth. The western end of the hallway lies choked with rubble from an ancient collapse, while a large, bronze double door marks a likely entrance to the inner reaches of the lower temple.

The party determines from the disturbance of dust on the floor that four humanoid creatures passed through the bronze doors not long ago.
__________

(We are now on slide #5 of the map.)

The creators of this temple built towering stone bookshelves into this chamber’s walls. Many of the shelves still stand, although some have collapsed under the weight of years. Each bookshelf is adorned with a carefully crafted frame depicting the sun, stars, and other celestial bodies. Looters have chipped away at the frame, taking what they could from those carvings. Those looters seem to have also stripped the rest of the chamber bare, as the empty shelves seem devoid of any lore that the Ghol-Gani left behind. The northern wall has partially collapsed, though in the large pile of rubble is a single hole large enough for one human- sized creature to fit through at a time. A muted purple light shines from the chamber beyond. (Room C3.)
__________

Room C3. The ceiling of this large chamber rises to a height of at least fifty feet, with carvings along the sloping walls depicting a precise and detailed diagram of Golarion’s constellations in each of the four seasons. A violet light bathes the entire chamber, emanating from a ritual circle at the center of the room surrounded by rubble. A twenty-foot-tall, six-armed creature surrounded by glowing weaponry is trapped within the ritual circle, bound by chains that crackle with white lightning.

Purpurrup explains: "Parveen remains aware of her surroundings but cannot break free of her bonds just yet. A circle of magical energy surrounds the bound asurendra, preventing anything from physically interacting with her. However, the imprisonment won’t last much longer unless you can stop the destruction of the prison’s final wards."

Pointing at the humanoids in the room, the fiend-keeper continues: "Those four work to undo spells woven centuries ago. Stop them!" Two of the humanoids are working to topple a rune-covered pillar while the other two hack at a statue of a robed cyclops clutching a large tablet.

The grippli fiend-keepers immediately move to position themselves to perform their own ritual, hoping to keep Parveen at bay by drawing a portion of her spirit into themselves.

Silver Crusade

Led by Purpurrup, the gripplis provide four potions of cure serious wounds to the party for the battle ahead. Please distribute these amongst yourselves as you see fit.

Some of the gripplis then form a defensive perimeter around the temple.

Yet more gripplis investigate the damage done by the Aspis Consortium's operation and begin efforts to salvage what wards and ritual seals they can.

Six grippli fiend-keepers will accompany the party further into the temple to make sure that Parveen does not escape.

The only place to go next is area B3 which has now been revealed on the map.

Area B3. This long, wide hall is littered with thousands of smashed and broken relics, idols, icons, and statuary of all kinds. An enormous door, slightly ajar, sits at the end of the hall.

Much of this chamber is choked with rubble, which counts as difficult terrain. Despite the general disarray apparent in this area, someone has cleared a path through the rubble leading to the door on the right side of the map.

Please take a moment to arrange youselves in room B3 before we proceed.

Silver Crusade

Since this decision has become something I don't want to dwell upon unnecessarily, and since 3 out of 5 players have voted to intercede, let's just move on...

The gripplis arrive.

The party intercedes on the prospectors' behalf, and the gripplis grudgingly release them. Just Joh swears that he will report both the gripplis' mercy and the Society’s assistance to his superiors in the Vanji Prospector's Guild. Just Joh further promises to ensure that neither he nor any other member of the Vanji Prospector’s Guild will bother the grippli tribes around Kaddodi again.

Hurray! Collectively, you have promoted regional peace and stability, improved the Pathfinder Society's standing with the Vanji Prospector's Guild, AND fulfilled a secondary success condition. LOL! :D

Kalia thinks back to what she knows of grippli traditions, looking at both the prospectors and her grippli friend to try to get a sense of what the situation is...

Assuming that the prospectors are really quite worried and even Kalia can tell that, she relents a little... looking at her party members for agreement and someone with more diplomatic skill, she tries to start a conversation...

Ok, we'll promise the grippli that we will help them undo the damage to any protections they had in place as best we can, that Parveen is the priority... we will need you to tell us exactly what you did, though, where those fiends came from, if you took or moved anything, all that stuff...

Skill Checks: The grippli are generally nice. The range of consequences that the prospectors face probably does not include the worst possibilities--such as long-term imprisonment or death.

Silver Crusade

Kalia the Ulfen-Elven Huntress wrote:
How would we know what the Grippli would want to do with the prospectors?

It's up to you how you would discover this information in a timely manner--keeping in mind that Parveen is the priority. :) Here are a few possibilities that come to mind: (A) Knowledge Local to know grippli tradition, (B) Profession Barrister (or related) to know legal precedent, (C) Sense Motive to see just how worried that Just Joh and his fellow prospectors are, (D) Intimidate to get info from the prospectors, (E) Diplomacy to get info from the prospectors, etc...

Silver Crusade

Kalia the Ulfen-Elven Huntress wrote:
Kalia frowns at the humanoids... Why were you there, when such evil could be released and such harm done?

"We weren't trying to release no evil nuthin' We're with the Vanji Prospector’s Guild. The Aspis contracted with our superiors to find salvage and profit from the Ghol-Gan ruins. Not much different from what your group does."

Silver Crusade

Once the last of the asuras falls, the humanoids emerge from the alcove: "Thank you for rescuing us! Thank you all!"

As Anthys moves the bodies, he notices that one of the asuras carries a fragment of a stone tablet inscribed with ancient runes. (Linguistics and/or Knowledge Planes to know more about the tablet.)

One of the humanoids turns beet red when the tablet is discovered. (Sense motive to know more.)

Somebody delivers the killing blow to the asuras.

Then, the party hears a series of loud croaks as the grippli tribes arrive to aid you in your final strike against Parveen.

Before the arriving grippli enter the room, the apparent leader of the humanoids--a burly human who introduces himself as “Just Joh”--pleads for you Pathfinders to intercede on behalf of himself and the other prospectors, fearing whatever justice might await them at the gripplis' hands.

The party has a decision to make here: (1) intercede on the humanoids' behalf with the gripplis, or (2) let the gripplis deal with them for trespassing at the temple. I'd prefer a unanimous decision, but would be OK going with the majority. Please feel free to discuss amongst yourselves and/or discuss with the NPCs. But, don't take too long--lest Parveen escape!

Silver Crusade

FYI, the asura would have still been standing if not for Claudia's re-roll. If this were 2e, I'd give everyone a hero point! Claudia for the timely use of her re-roll. Anthys for the crit. Kalia for taking down the blue asura. Marcus for preventing over 40 HP of damage on Kalia. And Kelson for his bardic performance--if not for his extra 2 point bonus, both asuras might still be conscious.

Well done, everybody! You polished off the enemy in a mere 2 rounds. :D

More stuff happens right away in this room. Don't worry! You'll have a chance to heal up, and you're not in immediate danger. Will post additional details later. Please feel free to roll any healing in the meantime.

ATTACKING ASURAS

Marcus moves in unpredictable ways--both protecting his allies and confounding his enemy!

Anthys strikes true with a blow that seems to swing the tide of this batlle. The humanoids in the alcove cheer: "Yeah! Show that outsider what for!"

Kelson tries to press the advantage, and put the outsider even further off balance. However, before he can cast Glitterdust, she collpses.

ATTACKING ASURAS
Round 1

Anthys mutters something about tactics under his breath. Then he moves forward and attacks--wounding his target.

The asura smiles--reveling in the combat--and strikes at all the enemies around her, hitting each of her targets at least once:

longsword v Anthys: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (18) + 19 = 37, damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
longsword v Anthys: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16, miss!
longsword v Anthys: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22, miss

spear v Kalia: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (7) + 19 = 26, damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
kukri v Kalia: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (15) + 19 = 34, damage: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

slam v Tika: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28, damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
slam v Tika: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 28, damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
__________

(I forgot to do this on red's turn, so I'll do it now...)

Reveling in combat, BOTH of the asuras seem invigorated, and their wounds close slightly.

What is this 'stride and strike' you speak of? Sounds like some nefarious PF2 jargon...

Anthys, does your attack currently count as "good?"

ATTACKING ASURAS
Round 1

The grippli Pathfinder moves to the next asura and gives her a wet willy!!! The asura screams "My ear! You froze my stapes!" The evil outsider is so freaked out by the sensation, that she's staggered for one round.

The humanoids in the alcove cheer! The asura glares at them, "Shut up, you!" They taunt her, "What's that? I couldn't hear you."

Suffering from the heebie jeebies, and irritated at the humanoids, the asura attempts to retaliate against Claudia, but to no avail!

Claudia moves over near the enemy and casts a spell. Her long tongue, covered in magic frost, reaches out to try to tap the enemy.

using agile tongue to apply touch spell from 10 feet away to avoid AoO

if that hits, target is staggered for one round

LOL! That's a great visual. :D

What's the spell? Does it allow for SR?
in case of SR: 1d20 ⇒ 13

Before I reveal the results of that SR check, are you happy with that roll? Do you wish to use a re-roll?

Special attacks?

I'll give you one of their special attack abilities. Upasundas are infamous for their multiweapon mastery. The take no penalties when fighting with multiple weapons.

Silver Crusade

Kalia, what path do you and Tika take to flank the asura? Edit: gotcha, thanks! I'm going to remove the lines from the slide. :)

Kalia recognizes that these are Upasunda asuras. You know that their DR is overcome by good. You can ask one question about them.

Room B2 With regards to furniture/decor, this room is nearly bare, its treasures lost to time and looters. Two cavities have been carved in the southern wall of the room, bare save for stacks of excavating tools and the shattered fragments of ancient skeletons.

This room was the source of the sounds of combat.

(I imagine this next bit like a video game cutscene...)

There are two six-armed women each with three fanged faces on her head. They both wear colorful robes, and their hands wield several exotic weapons.

There are also four humanoids here. Two of them drag a wounded ally into one of the alcoves as the fourth seals them all within the alcove using a scroll; a shimmering wall of energy surrounds them.

Silver Crusade

Please arrange yourselves as desired/needed outside the door to the south. Please keep your tokens in room B1; stuff happens immediately when the next room is entered.

Silver Crusade

Would the party like to head east to the stairs or south to the slightly-ajar door?

AWESOME! :D

The snakes groggily revive. Instinctively know that this place is unsafe, and they flee immediately.

Somewhere out in the wilds, snakes share the story of the "nice frog" who helped them escape the "strange, angry thoughts." (The manifestation would have acted like a confusion effect on all of you had it been allowed to form!)
__________

Kelson notices that piled just inside the entryway of this room are bags of items taken from within the temple and surrounding area. While most of these items are of little actual value, a suit of Medium-sized armor stands out among the accumulated detritus. While largely identical to the stoneplate crafted by dwarven artisans, this suit of armor mirrors the stonework and detailing of the surrounding buildings and was likely crafted by a cyclops artisan for a favored servant, or perhaps as a gift to an Azlanti ally before the cyclopes fell into violent savagery.

MADDENING MANIFESTATION
Round 3

The edges of the manifestation begin to coalesce. The fearsome visage of a fanged woman with six red-glowing eyes appears and emits a loud moan. At the same time, the stone walls in the area take on cyclops visages and echo that moan. The hollow eyes of the cyclopes begin to bleed, and the manifested images chant, "Faith is futile. All will fall just as great Ghol-Gan." As the chanting reaches a crescendo you all feel the evil trying to infest your minds. As it builds:

Kelson moves up a delivers positive energy to the nascent manifestation.

Claudia continues to show how strong her faith is and how weak the evil is, in comparison.

Marcus follows suit with more positive energy.

Kelson's blow weakens it enough that Claudia's words cut into it like a battle axe, and Marcus' energy finishes it off.

The manifestation howls with rage and frustration. Then, suddenly, it stops.
