Hello, I am looking for two more players to join me in a Curse of Strahd campaign converted by me to PF2. The conversion makes heavy use of community materials as well as my homebrew changes to better fit the adventure to the new game system, so expect variations from the sourcebook. Only human characters allowed (I will review versatile heritages but I am likely to veto them). The game itself will be hosted on the Role Gate PbP portal. The game password is "sangzor". If you are interested, I will also send you a link to my Discord server to discuss characters and Session 0 stuff. The current party is shaping up to be a diviner wizard, a champion and a monk. The battlemaps will be hosted on Tableplop: new.tableplop.com
Confirmed 5th player is fine as per this post. I've adjusted the game settings to allow for the 5th player. So pick a pregen from any of the PF2 iconics and jump in! As per the linked post, either Jirelle or Korakai would be the best fit for the pirate theme and the rest of the party.
Someone from the Role Gate community found my game around the same time as I made my previous post, so it is technically full now. That said, thzero, if you'd like to get in drop me a line and I will check with the Org Play team if I'm allowed to take a 5th player. The sanctioning document doesn't explicitly restrict the table to four players so perhaps we can work something out.
By all means, jump in! At this point I already have two players who picked the fighter and the sorcerer; the cleric and rogue spots are still up for grabs! When you join a game, on the right-hand pane you can see "helpers" which are like quick reference cheat sheets, and one of them is on using Role Gate itself, so I hope you won't feel lost! There is also a Discord server link on the main page where you can aks questions and find games.
Excellent! Use either the referral link in my first post or this link to create an account and join the game. Which of the pre-gens would you like to play?
If anyone else wishes to play Sundered Waves, please check out my recruitment thread!
Hello, I am recruiting for a PbP run of the Sundered Waves one-shot to start this weekend. However it will not be held on the Paizo boards, but on the Role Gate platform, which I find to be better suited for PbP, especially for posting from mobile devices. The game will be reported for PFS credit but it is run in campaign mode using the pre-made level 5 characters that come bundled with the adventure. These characters are not members of the Society. If you haven't heard about the Sundered Waves adventure, all the details are explained in this Paizo blog., which also has the link to the pre-made character sheets. I'll be happy to help with filling the sheets on Role Gate and figuring out any questions about the platform.
"Hey! Leave Phillipton alone, you ummm... corkscrew!" Roumatha rushes back, trying to see what type of creature that is. Hunt Prey for a +1 AC and a free Recall Knowledge roll. Nature +8 Arcana +7. On a crit success everyone gets +1 to their next attack. He positions himself to flank with Phillipton, forgoing Kohl's heroism for extra accuracy. Strike: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 vs flat-footed AC for 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 slashing.
Farol - may I interest you in my 1-19 recruitment? We just need one more player to be able to start!
Yes, if you play a pregen, you still need to pick or create an actual PFS character to apply the chronicle to (even if that character hasn't reached the required level yet). That character will be considered to be in play for this game and so would not be eligible for any other games for its duration. Once your character gets to the level 3-6 range, you can at any point add the effects of this chronicle to it.
Pregen should be fine assuming DoubleGold has an actual character freed up - the rule is we need at least 2 real characters and 2 pregens to start. I have seen three approaches to playing pregens over PbP:
Looking for one more tier 3-6 player to start off the Iolite Squad Alpha run! Please apply here!
Any characters of levels 3-6 who could not make it for the start of the Gameday are still welcome to join me in introducing some hobgoblins to the Society!
Any experienced Pathfinders who are willing to guide some hobgoblin recruits on their first steps in the Society are welcome to sign up here!
Recruiting for Gameday IX, First Come First Serve.
Hello,
What is the scenario about?
What is RoleGate?
What is Tableplop?
Why recruit here, then?
OK, you got me interested. What do I need to apply?
In addition, I will need the usual PFS2 fare:
That is all. Explore, Report, Cooperate!
You travel in the same direction for a while, as Kolnral's home is not far from the Feedmill, then Tok'Tok bids you farewell. At Kolnral's place, Tok'Tok sees a baby crib attended by a woman in her late twenties. "Kolnral, Sweetie, I think Phinick is here to see you!" she calls out in a mellow voice, before recognizing that you are a different goblin and instinctively moving closer to the crib. "Wait, who are you? What do you want? Kolnral, come here!!" A man with a nasty blackeye and a half-shaven face trots out from another room, razor in hand. "What's up, dear?... Wait, I know that goblin - you are one of Bort's crew, aren't you? Honey, relax, I don't think this fellow means any harm. Is there something you need, fella? Did Phinick send you?" The rest of you walk up to the building next door to the Feedmill. To your surprise, you are greeted by Delna, the innkeep.
Hi everyone, I am sorry for the long hiatus! Today is the first day in a month when I have an hour for myself while also having some headspace for the game. I can't say I am fully out of the woods yet as I still have a s@~% ton of work; but at least no one in the family has flu anymore and I shouldn't be traveling anywhere for another month or so. I am happy to pick up the game but also if you wish to look for another GM that's understandable, I can share the list of encounters I was planning to keep.
Round: 3
With his two blades out, Roumatha deftly runs up to the newly formed shadow wisp next to Boram and begins to slash at it violently, attempting to chase it away from the ritual and back to its home plane!
Trin shrugs. "Not before the fight, no. Most likely you have probably seen me fleeing the fight! Though I wouldn't put it past our brave Sir Krent to follow suit! And really, whoever had half a brain left in them would have best fled this inn and this whole crappy town! Sir Lawren Krent came here a few months ago, as I said, as part of a knights detachment from Lastwall. They haven't spoken much, got their horses fed and rested and left the next morning - without Sir Krent. They all looked... I dunno, somber? Not like you normally imagine knights in shining armor. Like they were constantly thinking about something huge and not paying attention to what's right under their nose. I tried to ask Sir Krent what was going on over at Lastwall - he started speaking about someone named Talmore but he could never finish his tale before he got dead drunk. Again, not very knight-like, I know. I think - shh! I think maybe they wanted to leave him behind in this craphole. Just don't mention it to him, I guess? He can be found in the Feedmill almost every evening. I don't know where he lives, exactly - and I suspect he doesn't, either. " At this point, you've spent about half a day wandering the town outskirts and talking to people.
Sorry for going slow everyone; real life has been rather exhausting lately. I estimate two more weeks of slower posting. Luz - I think you're doing it as written; my feedback would be that the wording would benefit from a revision; since it seems like the main benefit of Framing the Case is to be able to select a thing to which the bonus can be applied repeatedly rather than once per day. I would think that saying something like "I take the case of Bort's murder and that gives me +1 to one check for each one related thing I spend a minute on today" is simpler and achieves the same effect; while Framing the Case would look like "I want to be able to repeatedly apply my bonus to this one clue by spending an action". I guess the main intended use of it is to apply it to knowledge/lore checks and later also saves against a suspect enemy or hazard once per round. RRho - did I read it right in the blog that you just gained 5 GM stars? Congratulations! Out of interest, are you located in Moscow or elsewhere in Russia?
Luz, I don't think you need to make each witness a separate Case, as long as you speak about circumstances of Bort's death I will count that in. GM Roll:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Tok'Tok, being untrained in Medicine, finds it hard to determine whether the bruise came from a mug, a fist or something else.
"I guess you lot were the most unusual ones yesterday… Everyone else I knew or saw before and I think everyone was pretty much their usual self… Not that I was paying much attention. Now that I think of it, perhaps Sir Krent was rather twitchy that day, but then the poor soul has been quite paranoid ever since he's arrived in town a few months ago."
"D-death? Bort's dead? Are you serious? By the gods, I had no idea... I fled the inn after some lout hit me with an ale mug during the fight! I thought I was the one who had it rough last night... Oh, may Pharasma not delay his soul's passing to Torag..." The woman turns pale with the dreadful news, making a purple bruise across her cheek all the more visible.
As she makes the tea and takes Tok'Tok's card with hands slightly trembling, she asks you for more details of what happened last night, and shares her story. "I spent most of my night going back and forth between the kitchen and table; those big party nights are pretty hard work, you know. I'm not sure what happened - I remember I was just by your table serving the dessert when the tavern went mad... Those lousy backwater drunken rednecks have no manners whatsoever!" She begins sobbing quietly as she touches her cheek. "I just turned around to hide in the kitchen when a heavy mug flew right into my face! To be honest with you, the rest was just a blur, I instinctively ran home, not seeing much between the blood and tears, until my brother Marny saw me and took care of me.
You make your way around the outlying fields until you reach a small turnip farm on the southwest side of town which matches the description Amora gave you. You see two people working in the field, one of them is a young comely woman and the other is a hardy-looking man. The woman looks to be in her early twenties, and the man probably approaches thirty. The woman greets you cheerfully. "Hello, may I help you with something? Oh wait, do I know you? You were in the Feedmill with Bort yesterday, weren't you? What brings you here - just touring the town? I'll be happy to offer you some tea if you'd like to come inside. How's the old dwarf feeling today - Delma warned me he can be rather grumpy after a raucous night!"
"There haven't been any changes to staff for years. And that night I haven't seen anyone in the kitchen who shouldn't have been there, though as I mentioned I have stepped away several times so can't be 100% sure. Most of my ingredients come from the local farms and hunters; some are delivered via caravans like yours. I usually give a list to the caravan master, together with an advance payment, they write it down in their ledgers and bring me the requested stuff the next time they're over. As for the orchard... I dunno really, I'm not much of a botanist. The trees went bad a few years back, and that's when the previous owners, apple farmers, left for greener pastures in Almas and left this shack abandoned. It stood empty for a while, but at one point I really needed to move away from where I lived at the time so I moved in here - with Mayor Targen's permission, of course. If you want to know more about the plague I think you'd better ask him, I was fairly young at the time and mostly sitting at home to stay away from the sick. His home is right next to the Feedmill - he was its original founder." GM roll:
Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 Luz is not sure what exactly is going on with the trees but it does not seem implausible for them to pick up an illness or a parasite if they are not properly tended. Amora doesn't seem to be trying to deceive you either.
"Carrots and other hard vegetables definitely help with that, not so secret for anyone but then I heard you goblins can't read, can you? Phinick definitely can't at least! So no surprise you don't know the basic facts. Phinick is a goblin who works odd jobs in the Feedmill - I think he was a refugee of some sort and Delma has taken him in some time ago. He never speaks about his past though - or about anything much really, many townsfolk don't trust goblins so he tries to stay out of everybody's way as much as possible. Can't blame them really, as most of the greenskins are savage little bastards," She gives a side look to Rrho "But Phinick is quite harmless and I've come to rely on his help in the afternoons. Mornings Delma usually keeps him busy helping with inventory. I think she even taught him to count! I have no idea where he lives though, and I think I'd rather remain ignorant. Trin is one of the servers in the Feedmill, along with Kolnral. Unlike Kolnral she also knows her way around the kitchen so she often helps me with decorating the dishes and the like. Last night, as usual, Trin was serving food from the kitchen while Kolnral was serving drinks from the bar. She's a nice young lass if maybe a bit naïve - she constantly daydreams about somehow making it big in a city somewhere. Me, I don't think anything good can come out of it - at least here you know your folks and your land, in the cities everyone's out to get each other. Etran's Folly is a place where nothing much really happens, either good or bad. The last major thing was the plague two decades ago, and since then we have more land than people who can tend it. This past year hasn't been very good for the crops, as you can see" - she points to the dead orchard around - "so we rely on shipments such as Bort's more than usual and the disturbance to the caravan shouldn't be in anybody's real interest here if they can think more than one day ahead at least. Now, can I offer you some tea with honey or will you be on your way?" None of you notice anything suspicious around the house.
GM Roll:
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 Luz studies Amora's nonverbal cues intensely and feels pretty certain that she does not feel any guilt and is not trying to hide anything.
The lady looks at the goblin half her size with a puzzled look. "I suppose it is, but what's got that to do with anything? If you were in the Feedmill yesterday then you ate my food, so you can decide for yourself! I can definitely do better than a raw carrot at the very least! Ever tried baby carrots glazed in honey sauce with mustard seeds?" She turns to the other goblin with a bit more interest in her eyes.
The half-orc Tamli has been with you in the caravan, she was Bort's second-in-command and a de-facto leader now. You haven't seen any local half-orcs. Vengis feels sure that someone has left the tavern during the bar fight - but he cannot recall who it was.
After the events of the previous night, the Feedmill has been cleaned up a bit. But when Delma unlocks the kitchen for you, you find it in complete disarray. All sorts of cooking utensils are scattered about with some leftover food and ingredients stuck to them. Luz immediately singles out the large kettle of turnip pudding sitting on the counter, next to Bort's large bowl. GM roll:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20 As the investigator comes closer, something arouses his suspicions. Through the thick smell of turnips pervading the stale kitchen air, Luz senses an unusual, faintly floral note of scent coming from Bort's bowl. Luz sniffs around the kitchen like a hound, moving things around, until he is confident that the scent is only coming from Bort's bowl and does not match any of the herbs in the kitchen, nor is the smell similar to that of ground clove and anise in the mortar and pestle that was used to spice the dishes. Something was added to Bort's bowl only, and only those who ate from it have suffered. But whatever that substance was, it is nowhere to be found. Invigorated by your first clue, you move to locate Amora the cook. The Old Orchard is easy to find - a large area filled with apple trees - but you notice all of them are foul and rotten, sick with some sort of blight. A small shack stands in the middle of the garden, and your calls are answered by a large woman, just under 6 feet tall, with short brown hair kept tied tight behind her head, and wearing an apron even though she's off work today. Her voice is as big as she is, and she loudly begins to go on about how Bort's death couldn't have possibly been her fault as she is proud and well known for sticking to her recipes with an apothecary's precision.
Just so that I'm clear - does Nalfeshnee speak out loud or just telepathically to Vengis? Tired from your vigil, and stressed from the tragic events of the previous night, you catch a short nap at sunrise, before being woken up by Delma, the innkeeper. "Tamli told me you agreed to look into Bort's death. I've given my cook, Amora, a day off and locked the kitchen so that nothing is disturbed, just in case it was the food.
As I mentioned in my recruitment post, because the module is run in campaign mode for PFS2 credit, which gives 1 level worth of reward, I have cut it to be closer to 3 scenario's length. E.g. there would be a wolf attack before arriving to town, and the bar fight would have been actual combat with 12 drunk farmers until 3 of them are down - I have glossed over those elements and will only keep story-related encounters in this game. There is nothing that "On the Scene" would reveal to you in the common area on the inn. It may come in handy later, so do remind me of it when you'll be entering other areas.
