So, I did searches and only found threads about enchanting a wand with a metamagic feat.

What I want to know, is if my character finds a wand of scorching ray, can I apply my personal empower spell metamagic feat when using this wand? Or are they not able to be enhanced in this way?

Thanks.

So, we're doing a small PvP campaign sorta thing.

Basically, we all make 6th level characters, and fight against each other, 1 on 1 usually, but sometimes teams.

I want to dominate this competition. However, I know I'll miss something or some opponent set up if I don't come here and ask first.

6th level character, 16,000 gp of items, only 20% of that money can be used on consumables (potions, scrolls, etc). Pathfinder Core and Advanced Players Guide material, only.

Bring it!

So... there are good rules on how to copy spells from a book.

But I don't want to copy the spells. I killed the wizard. His book is mine.

Do I have to still pay to copy the spells? Why? Why can't I just take "ownership" of his book or some such?

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

So, I just ran an updated Carnival of Tears and one of my players is a monk. And he's starting to do things that are making me question the rules.

So, for instance, there's a point in the module that has a big field of "Mud" which I treated as difficult terrain (double the movement required).

However, he just jumped over it (his Acrobatics skill is astronomical).

Now, I figure this is fine... same thing happened with ice later on. Instead of running over 40 feet of ice, he'd just jump right to the foe and avoid the acrobatics checks to avoid slipping (which he'd invariably pass, anyway).

Am I doing this right? Jumping is just a part of movement, so if he does a "run" full round action to move times 4, inserting a few jumps in there isn't against the rules, right?

Okay two things came up in my session last night. One:

Someone used a scroll with Use Magic Device. He happened to hit a 23 DC with only a 5 skill so I didn't need to know what happened if he failed... but what would happen if he failed? Does the scroll disappear? Or can he keep trying?

Same with using a scroll higher than your level. Can you just keep trying as long as you make those Wisdom checks?

Second:

A creature cast Confusion on the party. They killed the creature. Should the Confusion spell still keep going on even after the caster is dead? I ruled the spell ended, just because I figure it would have taken 15 minutes of real-time to have them tie up the confused characters for the rest of the spell and I didn't want to deal with it.

Most of my PC's in my game use laptops or whatnot at the table, and it would be much easier if they could click a button if I say "You are now sickened" that would automatically update their attack rolls/damage rolls, etc, so that we wouldn't waste five minutes every time they attack saying "Oh, well, +2 from enlarge, but -2 power attack, oh but +1 from higher ground..."

Is there anything like this out there? Would help times a million.

Hello all.

I'm looking for a program or web-based site of some kind that will allow me to easily track my player's skill check modifiers.

At the very least, I'd like a list, such as this:

Player name: Doug ... Randy ... Larry
Perception: +9 +4 +7
Stealth: +6 +7 -1

For all the skills that at some point require secret checks (or, all of them).

Preferrably, I'd like to just click to get a skill check random roll result, but I can roll manually. Mostly I'd just like something that tracks it a little better than an excel spreadsheet.

So, I'm playing in a game that is ready to switch to Pathfinder.

Right now, my character is a dwarven barbarian 2 / fighter 4 who was about to dive into Frenzied Berzerker.

However, now that we're in Pathfinder, I figure I'll just do the rest of his levels in Barbarian, and do the "two handed fighter" variant for the fighter levels.

I don't want to change too much of what I've already done, but the DM said I could change some thing due to Pathfinder's new options.

Anyway, he uses a Greataxe and has a nifty magic one, so I'd like to keep that. He's specialized in it, but that doesn't need to stay.

I want to avoid the Beast Totem (or any totem, really) rage powers because it doesn't fit the flavor of a Battlerager (in my opinion), but I'm having trouble trying to decide on which rage powers to get going forward.

Any tips are welcome!

I saw it coming from the beginning, but I guess I should be blessed that some people play the game for the role playing and character development aspects and not ROLL playing.

Anyway, here's my party: level 5 paladin, level 4 barb (invulnerable rager alternate)/1 rogue(thug alternate), level 5 monk, and (here's the problem child) 3 wizard (transmuter)/2 rogue.

So, the paladin is decent, 18 str/20 cha base, he holds his own with a falchion and healing and whatnot. Check.

The barb is a power attacking/sneak attacking machine so far. No problems there.

The monk has provided a lot for the group, no problem.

And our little future arcane trickster... well, his feats are such: combat expertise, improved feint, improved sunder, power attack. He spends most of his time throwing telekinetic fists (the transmuter power) or trying to feint/sneak attack with his longsword.

I'm worried that he's going to fall behind even further in combat. Now, he's great out of combat, with his 20 intelligence and insane skills (the guy has one point in EVERY knowledge skill, giving him a +9 skill check in each) as well as speaking 12 languages. So, he'll probably feel involved and all, but whenever combat breaks, he's kinda not so useful yet.

I don't really know what I'm asking here... but just to maybe see if you've run into any player like this before. His whole thing is he wants to get an adamantium swordbreaker dagger and sunder weapons and then start sneak attacking. I figured straight rogue or rogue fighter would be better at that... but then he went wizard.

Will he become more viable when he gets TWF and the Arcane trickster class? Because right now, the paladin and barbarian far outclass his damage with their big two-handers, and the monk fairly outdamages him with a better attack roll and flurry of blows.
