I picked up a Combat Pad when they were first released. After looking at it, I thought something in an A4 size would work better. However, after numerous sessions, it has worked just fine.
Despite that, I do agree with some suggestions already noted. The main one is to reduce the size of the product name and move the company logo to a corner. There are six players in my group so things can get crowded fairly quickly.
The "Next Round" magnet too serves for me a reminder to move the "Round" arrow. I love the fact that I can write down on which round something will occurs, such as when a summoned creature will make it's appearance and draw an arrow to the corresponding number at the top of the pad.
The initiative increments aren't really an issue for me. I usually start encounters with all the players' and monsters' magnets on the "Notes" side of the pad. I then go around the table asking each player what their initiative roll was and then write it on the pad next to the magnet. Once I know everyones number, place them on the "Initiative" side of the pad.
I kept the cardboard insert from the packaging and placed it behind the pad and I use them together on a clipboard that has almost the exact same size footprint as the combat pad. Keeps things very sturdy. I picked up a plastic case at a 99 cent store similar to the one linked at office depot. It's an A4 size and large enough for the pad, 4 dry erase pens and two folded up flip mats.

While the art was nice, the back had so little space for writing that they are not very useful to me. Unless I somehow manifest tiny clear handwriting, I just can't use them. More open space on the back for writing would be nice.
I just use a letter/number code and then references that to a master list with the full description.
For example, on a longsword card, I might write SL-1, and on my master list I would have
SL-1: +1 keen longsword.
After that weapon was retired/sold, I could recycle it back at a later time or in the next campaign and SL-1 might be a masterwork, two-handed greatsword. If the player then enchanted this sword, I would make changes to the master list.

Sure! You can get them right here.
I'm a bit concerned about your retailers' explanation, though. Can you find out what distributor(s) he's trying to buy from?

Thanks Vic for the link, and thanks Lisa for the distribution explanation. I wasn't sure if it was a supply issue on Game Mastery or the distributors themselves. I was leary to buy from the website because I didn't want to place an order only to find out that I would have to wait because there were not enough in stock. Glad to know that's not the case.
I'll wait another week or so to see if the retailers and distributors can get their orders in, 'cause I like supporing the FLGS. If not, then I'll order from the website.

Question: is it true that Item Pack 2 boosters contain Item Pack 1 cards as indicated by the review by Paul Wilson on the description page:
http://paizo.com/store/paizo/gameMastery/itemPacks/v5748btpy7pew ???
Hmmm. That's kinda lame. I've got a box of Item Pack 2 boosters on order, which I still plan on getting. I was going to pick up another deck of Item Pack 1, but if those cards are in the IP2 set, then there's really no need. I do feel a bit jipped if I get a bunch of cards from the first set though, as I was looking forward to all new artwork.
*Edit*
After further review of the Item Pack page, the description for Item Pack 2 is different than the other sets. Both IP3: Relics of War and IP4: Dragon's Trove has the following descriptor:
contains 110 all-new playing-card–sized cards
As opposed to IP2: Hero's Horde which omits the "all-new" reference:
Hero’s Hoard contains 110 playing-card–sized cards

Can someone explain the Temple of the Scorpion God to me? I'm looking at the map and then flipping to the description and it just doesn't make sense.
Are the adobe huts at the top of the stairs to the left in front of area 3B? Are they next to the stairs?
Normally I wouldn't really care that much, but under the tactics of the drow it mentions the lower, middle, and upper levels with regard to concealment.
If anyone can tell me how they DMed this encounter, I would greatly appreciate it.
