That was a short revival...

Fjyndel absentmindedly starts to whistle a bit, then thinks better of the situation and stops himself.

Bump?

Grendel is updated.

Please look over his stats, I'm not totaly sure I did everything right there... especially look at the attack and Full attack. Is that really correct?

Fjyndel, you may maintain whatever previous stats you wish.

I will go about the math of the new animal companions, and then probably choose between wolf or big cat, if not stay with the riding dog, if that's okay.

To keep the rules consistent, I'm going to change Grendel from being a riding dog to being a big cat.

Can we all pretend he always was a big cat?

And, what type of big cat would be native to the environment? Tiger?

Good luck with that Olli!

As for the conversion of Fjyndel: There's not much to do with his stats.
If the DM allows, I keep the Ranger-track as first-level feat.
Grendel, the riding dog is another matter.
Currently the most related animal companions are dog (small) and wolf (medium).
Big cat (medium), might be an option too, but won't fit that good...

I'm unsure what to do with that now.

Somehow that all had happened too fast for Fjyndel. He stays back with the dwarf, keeping a look out in the woods, for any more trouble.

back from the archives!

I don't know. Still waiting for the game to continue...

Fjyndel: Perception (sight) (1d20+3=17)
Grendel: Perception (1d20+7=10)

Fjyndel looks after Drint, to the monastery, searching for any sign of answer.

"Ye Gods... Just quit it already. Drint, you gonna go ask the kobolds up there now or what?"

DM:

Spoiler:
No problem.
I hope that bit of freeform storytelling below is no thorn in your game.

"Drint, I trust you to some extend," Fjyndel begins whispering to the Kobold, "but those trails here... See, it looks like this one child here... It tried to get away. Some Kobolds followed him, ... here the child fell to the ground, and as you see from this footprints, they nearly dragged him back to the others.

From what I can tell, the children didn't freely follow your kind.

I think you have to accept that these kobolds are not that friendly towards other as you are.
Please consider this, when you try to speak to them."

DM:

Spoiler:

That's hardly possible. Grendel was not in town. Fjyndel left him behind in the woods outside of Falcons Hollow.

Fjyndel leads those who follow him directly towards the monastery, up to a point where he can see the entrance, but is not easily spotted.
Then the gnome looks towards the kobold, nodding encouragingly.

"Did I not say that the tracks lead towards the monastery? Where else would the Kobolds get the children to?"

Yeah, I know that, but Fjyndel did not think of that. He just wanted the two of you to stop arguing. But maybe Rolly can point that out? ;)

"I don't think it is the right place, or the right time to discuss this now. Let us get this over with, then we all know who was right.

Drint, you and Quince go foreward to the monastery and try to speak with the kobolds living there. Quirk, you fly out of sight and oversee that meeting as good as possible. If something goes wrong, get us to rescue them.

The rest of us will stay in the forest, out of sight of the kobolds, as to not scare them, and if needed, to give us a bit of surprise if possible.

Anyone not confident with the plan may come up with a better one."

Fjyndel may not have been long with others that are not druids, but somehow that chatter about who is wrong and who is right, and about killing each other made him sour. This can be clearly heard from his voice and seen on his face.
The gnome is almost sure something will go terribly wrong, but he could not come up with a better plan while the dwarf and the kobold where arguing about something they could not prove.

Edited that in the post above.

Survival (1d20+11=14)

I can't remember if I beat the DC of 14 with 14 or 15... I never could remember, actually.
Depending on that, I tell the others the age or not.

Knowledge (nature), Perception (Sight) (1d20+10=15, 1d20+3=12)
Grendel would probably see better, but has no means of telling his discovery to the Gnome.
How recently? Survival to find out?

Finding the footprints and where they lead to, Fjyndel rides back to the others, stopping them with the words:
"Footprints. We found footprints of Kobolds and Children. No 3 hours old. So either the Kobolds have an orphanage built in that monastery, or worse things go on in there..."

"Guys? Grendel found something... I check that out, then catch up with you. Okay?" Fjyndel asks whispering, while patting the dog on the bag for his good senses.

Low-light vision here...

After having been awaked Fjyndel quickly packs his tent and dons his studded leather. He then follows Rolly, not knowing where the screams came from.

Perception (Fjyndel, Sound) (1d20+3=13)
Perception (Grendel, Sound) (1d20+7=10)

Being tired from the hunt and the searching for food, the gnome and his dog are sound asleep.

Oh boy... Hope you didn't lose anything unreplaceble or expensive.

"I got a tent as well, and I'm open to share it with someone. But, how are we going to get those eggs eadible? I imagine it will be hard to find some dry wood..."

"Praised be Gozreh, finally something." Fjyndel lets out, finding the nest. Taking nine of the twelve eggs he mutters: "I'm sorry friends. We are in need of something to eat, and all I could find is you. I will let some of your kindred here so that they may live. That's as much as I can do for you."
Carefully he packs the eggs as to get them safely to the others.

"Come Grendel. Let us hope the others aren't too hungry."

Survival (Fjyndel) (1d20+11=22)
Survival (Grendel) (1d20+1=4)

While Grendel seems really exhausted, Fjyndel seems more desperate to find food.

Fjyndel will try to hunt something with Grendel, but not before going back to the others, telling them that he lost the deer.

Being back he will also make sure that he remembers where the others rest.

"Damn. Grendel, come back! You did good. Too bad we didn't get the deer. Ah well, lets get back to the others. Maybe we find something eadible on the way?
Lets take a look around." Fjyndel speaks to his dog, while turning around.

Survival to search for food on the way. (1d20+11=12)

Spoiler:

If aid another is possible: Survival (Aid another) (1d20+1=8)
Wow... Invisible Castle hates me. Anyone want some poisonous berries?

Fjyndel, Have Grendel roll 3 Constitution checks, first at DC 10, then 15 and last 20

Constitution checks (1d20+2=22, 1d20+2=13, 1d20+2=3)

Ugh, great... Grendel has a base speed of 40ft.

"Trying it." Fjyndel answers shortly, starting to chase the deer, shouting to Grendel "FETCH!"

Perception (Fjyndel)(1d20+3=15)
Perception (Grendel)(1d20+7=21)

"About that eating... Don't look around too much, there is a deer watching us.
Can someone shoot it? Or shall I hunt it with Grendel?" Fjyndel remarks in a natural tone, looking at his comrades and not after the deer.

Fjyndel turns to Quirk, his jaw nearly touching the earth in front of his feet.
He could not believe what he just heard the pixie speaking.
Is he joking? He's not looking that way. But he can't be serious! An eating contest?

Fjyndel steps up to Drint, laying a hand on his arm holding the dagger.
"Quit it. Both of you.
Drint, I didn't think that you would speak a death-threat, after how you behaved earlier. Reconsider your intentions."

He lets go of the Kobold, turning to the Dwarf.
"And you, Skullcrusher: I don't know you as good as Drint, and I don't know him good enough to call a friend, but, we all have gone through something up to here. Let us finish this, and return to Falcon's Hollow together. After that we can all part our ways."

Looking from one to the other he says: "Please. Quit it."

readying an action to go between the two, if necessary

"I'd say dwarfs have a difference in style in architecture compared to kobolds.
Okay, I never ever saw a building errected by kobolds, but, again, from what I heard..."

Drint wrote:
Drint groans. "That...wasss terrible. Insssultsss to our race. Koboldsss are sssuppossed to be welcoming. Friendly to travelersss. Inssstead, they ssstabbed me in the back.

"Well, most of the Kobolds aren't as friendly as you are. At least that is what I gathered from stories.

That monastery looked pretty dwarfen to me, so I don't think the Kobolds down there where there first. But you are right, we don't know that for sure." Fjyndel adds.

Initiative (1d20 2=16)
Fjyndel will cast Shillelagh on his club

"Oh darn..."

"You can do that... but what about us?" Fjyndel points out the flaw in Quirks plan.

Fjyndel flees further away from the hut, to where he left Grendel on his own, not looking back. He hears Quirk shouting in the air, hoping that his companions don't try to fight whatever it was that awoke in the hut.

Question to clarify: Rolly, Coralee and the Cauldron are in the hut, right? Does Fjyndel even see what is going on in there?

"We have what we came for! Get out! Let us get away from here!" Fjyndel shouts, running further away from the hut, whistling for Grendel afterwards.

Perception in the hut (1d20+3=16)
"What the..." Fjyndel curses, then running out of the door, holding on to the Rat's tail.

Initiative (Uzmillas Hut) (1d20+2=7)

'Rolly' Skullsplitter wrote:
"Guys, not tryin' to rush ya ... Ok, maybe I am. If this Umzilla (or whatever her name is) is as dangerous as you've been lettin' on, shouldn't we grab what we came for, and get as far away as we can? I'm no coward, but if she could start a disease that could destroy an entire village, she may be more'n what we wanna fight, ya know?"

"And right you are Stoney... Ah, sorry. You aren't Stoney, your name was Rolly. I blame Coralee for that. *giggles* Anyway, we should wander off as fast as we can. That Rat's tail should be enough for Laurel, I hope.

And I'd rather not take that shrunken head, no, thank you.

Everyone coming?" the gnome asks, grabbing the ingredients and turning to go.

"It would probably be better if we could just desintigrate it... I don't want to be the cause of sickening fumes... Actually I don't know what would be best to do with that.

What gives off that Illusion-aura?"

"That old hag... Look here! Blackscour. She did that to Falcon's Hollow!"

Fjyndel waits until Coralee is finished with her inspection of the hut, then starts searching for the root as well.
Perception to search for the root (1d20+3=19)
Knowledge (nature) +10, Profession (Herbalist) +7; Call for those checks if need be.

"No to the gong!" the gnome replies, then thinking about the rat's tail- root "Hmm... let me think."

Fjyndel:Perception (hear) (1d20+3=6)
Perception (hear) (1d20+7=24)
While Fjyndel still has an ungood feeling, Grendel settles down on the ground, while keeping a keen ear and sniffing the air.

After a moment of contemplation, Fjyndel says out loud: "Okay. Let us get this over with." But, he hesitates with himself a moment longer, before taking the first step out of the wood on to the clearing.

Grendel whelps silently, causing the gnome to turn around. With a quick look over the dog he sighs, then speaking: "Yeah. Stay. And announce any interruption. We come back in a bit."

With another sigh, Fjyndel turns back again towards the hut, and with another hesitation he starts walking again.
