Fippin continues to watch the auction with curiosity. He tries to sneak through the crowd to more closely watch the folks that seem to be doing all the bidding- like the crook bearer. He doesn't really care if they happen to notice him, as long as Esteban doesn't see him, he'll just try to make sure they think he's watching the auction and not them. Stealth/Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 Maybe, but Fippin tries to live a modest lifestyle. He would have spent most of it or donated it to the church of Desra during the time that has passed between then and now. He has enough on him to cover a modest lifestyle, but not much beyond that. He's an explorer at heart, and just wants to see what's over the next hill. He's not a greedy adventurer. Fippin has been busy wandering among the crowd taking in all the sights of the auction. However when he spots Esteban he fades back into the crowd with a sick feeling in his stomach. He hurries back to find Sykala and Ix. Did you see? Did you see? Esteban is here? How in the nine hells did he end up here? Deserts, pyramids and ancient treasures- well that sounds quite interesting, maybe better than the insect infested jungle of my previous adventure. Not that I have anything against jungles mind you. I had always wanted to see one, but now I have, and well... I don't need to see one again for a while. It should be noted that traveling with Ixius and Sykala is a halfling. His hair has been bleached blonde from sun, and he wears comfortable traveling clothing that looks a little too warm for the southern climate, yet he doesn't seem to be sweating or hot. He has been quite distracted by the wonders of the busy new city that is Sothis, but he finally realizes things are happening and he steps forward to introduce himself. Greetings, my name Fippin. I'm a follower of Desra and an avid explorer. Your hospitality is much appreciated. The canoes don't have room for all that gold, and as far as I'm concerned it's blood money. The gods know its story and they will curse anyone who tries to spend it. I have no wish to anger the gods. If you are that greedy then you can fill your canoe as full as you want. The rest of us push off and start making our way down river with 3 of the 4 canoes, which we have loaded with what useful supplies (fresh water, rations, etc... as we can scrounge). Esteban my greedy friend. If you wish to bring your gold then you and Hurgh share a canoe. Whatever the two of you can fit in there is fine by me. Just don't try to load any of it in the other canoes. I want nothing to do with it. Fippin and Keliwyn can take one canoe. Bass and Ix another. Esteban and Hurgh can ride in the third, and we'll tow the forth behind us as a spare. Fippin whisper to Keliwyn- "Keliwyn explain to them that we helped rescue their kind and that Petrune is the one that is responsible for animating them into zombies. We are happy to turn him over to them, so that they can deal with him as they see fit. We only ask that they allow us to leave in peace, and we promise that we will not come back." I think Esteban is a little antsy to get out of here. Let's go see if the boat is in working order. And now that everyone is together. Fippin looks at Petrune. But first. Baas hold him. Keliwyn tie him up and I'll gag him. Fippin still keeps his sword ready to run Petrune through if he tries any funny business. What's going on with Petrune? I assume that Fippin, Keliwyn and Baas are still with him. Fippin is still ready to plunge his sword into the mage. If he has his spell book on him or anything else that looks useful- scrolls, staff etc.. I demand he hand them over. If he has none of that we can see him to the river. What modes of transportation are left? Then we start leading him out of the tunnels. Fippin walks behind him with his sword still ready. Keep your hands still and don't talk. If I see you do make any movements that look like spell casting then I'm going to to stick this sword in your spine. I guess there is still a crocodile nearby to intimidate him as well. Fippin moves with Petrune keeping his sword ready to thrust if the mage tries anything. Friends, let's escort this souless sorcerer out of these tunnels. Then we can worry about any literature you want from him. The zombie behind me is particularly smelly, and I'd prefer not to have to worry about it trying to eat my brains. As I was saying Petrune, I'm a priest, so I'm familiar with matters of the soul. Are you aware of how the gods punish those who animate the dead in the afterlife? It's not pretty. Okay, so maybe you don't worship one of the more traditional gods. Maybe your religious practices are a little darker. I wouldn't be surprised, but what can you really expect from one of those dark gods? Sure they won't care about you animating the dead, but do you really think they'll be all that nice to you when your soul arrives on their doorstep? You should really consider trying to change your ways. What your doing isn't worth it. Yes, you might be able to acquire enough wealth to live well in this world for a few years, but that time is just a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of time you'll be spending in the afterlife. This world is just a testing ground son. A testing ground to determine what sort of fate your soul deserves, and right now you aren't doing well at the one test that actually really matters. Well friends, what next? Personally, I say we make sure the slaves have been freed, and then we head home. I don't care what you do with this one. It will be a tough journey back down the river, so he may be useful to have along and we could then part ways later. However, if you feel he needs to be punished for his actions that is up to you. I am not a judge, and he hasn't wronged me personally. I'll go along with what the rest of you decide. I mean he was animating the dead and has been knowingly working with slavers and for that there should probably be some sort of consequence. Fippin then brandishes his sword towards Petrune in a scolding but not overly threatening manner. You do know it's evil to animate the dead don't you? I am a priest. I can help you atone for your misdeeds. I see, so where do you fit in? Are you more hired help? By the gods you're a trained wizard, and the best job you could land for yourself is working out here in this heat with all the biting insects. They must be paying you a pretty good salary to make it worth it. What happened to Gorse again. Did we kill him? On his turn Fippin uses the last 20' of his teleport movement for the day to teleport to the other side of the two zombies near Petrune. He then uses stealth to stay hidden and try to move closer to the mage so that he can attack him the next round from surprise with his shortsword. Stealth: 1d20+10=23
