Thanks, Finwe will treat the small throwing knife with reverence, and carry it always, perhaps fashioning a little sheath out of rabbit's fur or mole's skin.

Question: Since the barn backside butts up against the forest ,is it possible to achieve the window by means of a tree branch? Finwe is much more confident leaping for that pole from a branch above than for piling up crates.

The red barn is on the edge of the village close to the woods. The halflings treat Finwe fairly well, although her sneaking about surprises them from time to time.

On this particular market day, Finwe notices the four boys enter the barn, closes the double doors. She notices it because of the way that they frogmarched a crying girl in with them. The big boy at the front had a dagger in one hand.

From past experience, Finwe knows that market day is the busiest day for the halflings and they have little or no time to spare for listening to her usually.

Finwe's interest is definitely perked. She can tell from the crying girl that something is not right. There is no reason four boys need to drag a girl about like that. But when she notices the dagger, Finwe decides it is time to act. The foolish boy weilding the blade has no right to such articles of judgement. She will take it as her own, if he is up to the bad deeds she supposes he is. Spot roll to tell quality of dagger? 2-1=1 lol mebbe not :)

Does Finwe know the route barn owls use to enter the barn? She hopes to find a back or hidden entrance in order to find out what the boys are up to, but if there are none, she will move to the main doors and see if there is a way to peek iside without opening them.

I am assuming this happens after Finwe's first dagger practice, but that she does not get to keep Running Fox's dagger. If that is the case she will be unarmed, having scornfully abandoned her pointy stick of earlier days.

While Finwe only has passing acquaintance of the Rispers, she often likes to hang out in the trees or about the hobbits inn-yard, on sunny days. She might just be there observing the doings from a distance or from concealment.

Many of my tattoos refer to a specific woodland creature, the hawk, and that is a fine predator to follow. It has speed, silence and is afraid of nothing. The hawks are a clan among the wood elf families..." Running Fox explains. She nods in understanding.

"The hawk appeals to me," she says. She holds the dagger as it were a talon, and swoops towards her prey from long distance, to finally lunge in a flurry of feathers and blood! "Yes, the hawk appeals."

He continues "...There are also bear, wolf, snake and owl clans to my knowledge. It can become a little confusing when an elf is part of one family but a different clan."

Finwe considers a moment, eyes darkening to starry night. with a shudder she finds her voice " 'Twas the night cat that brought nightmares night after night. First a roar, distant, but she lets you know she is on the prowl. The next time you hear her she is circling yet still unseen." Finwe leaps up and spins, dagger claw-like flashes arcs in the sun, then she stops, still and hurls the dagger! Finwe will hurl the dagger to the nearest target-like object. A stump, the earlier tree, maybe the knot of a tree.

Rolling 11+2=13

"Is there a night cat clan, Running Fox?" She hurries to retrieve the dagger. (hopefully from her target)

[ooc]I'm sorry but I may be feeling a bit florid right now, I will try to tone it down a bit but... ((shrugs))

Finwe lies down on a rock at the mid-day break, her little leaf-like body fluttering in the mild spring (?) breezes. She processes all she has learned as her hands grope for sustenance, finally settling on a borrowed waterskin.

Weakened by the day's activities, Finwe listens to Running Fox and when he asks her a question, her starry-pupilled eyes come to focus, and she sits up, her elven energy giving her body all the sustenance it needs, but at what price? It mattered not. "All my seasons in this wood I have watched mothers bear their litters and then their litters litters. I can name for you the forefathers of the squirrel in yonder tree. They are a fruitful clan, the black-two-stripes are."

She pauses, and finds a rind from last night's feast to gnaw on. In elvish she continues. "I have watched the way of the night-breeds as well. They are efficient at keeping the forest in check, they mete out the justice that the balance provides, as described to me by the clerics of Corustaith. I want to leave the woods of my youth and bring the justice that I have learned to the world of man and elf. Of orc and giant, and all that are deserving."

He called them totems. She has never heard the word before, but as they eat their meal, she clasps the dagger tightly and looks upon its talon form. The curve of nature she sees in the twisted blade. She has found the means at last to mete out the justice that boils in her blood, like the fire of the elven aristocrats, so brightly do their eyes shine with the Eladrin days.

"Or, in other words, I want to be the best predator in these woods, and out of them as well." Never has she spoken thus, to anyone, including herself. SHe didnt even know she knew the words.

Running Fox points again, "give it your best and try to learn for yourself from each throw. The dagger is made for throwing and should help. Think about the way you stand, the way you breathe and the way you throw."

Roll six throws, with +1 for the balance of the dagger, +1 for small size (which the dagger is too).Let's see how good she is.

Ooh, how exciting. Using the Wotc die roller 6d20, adding 2...

Finwe pulls herself up to her full stature and lets the dagger fly! And again... and again... and again.

Holding the dagger, Finwe's face creases into one of her rare but crookedly cute smiles. Holding the wicked blade, almost as long as her slender fore-arm, she feels what the catshie with extended claws must feel. So natural, so deadly.

Finwe steps up to the line with every intention of chopping the old oak in half.

Finwe retunrs sleepily to her makeshift camp in the bole of an aged oak. She climbs up into its nest-like branchings and takes from its wrapping the elvish shortbow she has had these many years. She tries to string it, but stops, then climbs back down and returns to the Cashel. on the way she eats her leftover food, and when she arrives, she meditates on the highest point in the area, uplifted face directed to the spot where the sun will first break at dawn.

No vaation for me, already took mine. I will be here writing huge blocks of text as always. A 24 hr internet connection at home and work and a propensity for long-windedness goes a long way...

So how was your game Saturday, FW, did it go well?

"I have learned much from the foxes running in these woods, and I would learn from you as well." Finwe stands and bows to the elf. "Every third day as Daetha?"

She walks to the edge of the brush line where her forgotten spear still stands sentinel and turns one last time to see the elf prepare for departure.

It is definitely loads of fun. One thing pbp offers I notice is a chance to really roleplay like you don't often get at the tabletop. Sure sometimes there are moments of real roleplaying fun but they are relatively uncommon, at least in most games I've been in. But here - you can really go wild and Im having fun with the roleplaying. The fact we are kids makes it more difficult, that was a long time ago! But with 2 year blocks it shouldn't be long till we are teenagers (shudder)

But seriously, the uncertainty of the character creation is a lot of fun, and I want to thank the DM for helping difficult-me come up with an unique character. I wonder FW, if you have ever considering taking this unique 0-level design and extending it to a type of build-a-bear classless system. Each level you get a matrix of choice to improve all the way up. I don't know, maybe that is to crazy, or maybe it is more like multi-classing. Anyhow...

Its lots of fun, and I wanted all to know that even though I play Finwe like she is a deadly-bunny-rabbit it is becuz I am trying to get into a really unique wood-elf ninja mentality lol. Who knows how she will turn out, I sure don't!

Finwe leaps forward, leaving her spear planted in the earth. With shaking hands she will clasp the barkskin plate, her almond eyes are still wide from the far-seeing. Her low concentration means that she must eat often though only in small amounts. What she cannot finish off the plate in a few large bites, she will blithely dump into her shoulder-slung pouch, for later.adding 1 day ration to inventory (lol)

Finwe will then sit back and hear what this woodsman may have to say. If Daetha giggles or otherwise cuts up, she will elbow him in the ribs and give him her most dour glance. This elf offered food and friendship, and there are customs to follow, information to pass along, though Finwe is worried that she has so liitle to contribute. She could tell him of the forest tadpoles in the creeks, but of kings and wars and fathers of old, she is shamefully ignorant.

This tattooed elf, however, must know much of the wider world. He is wayworn and travelled, wizened by the passage of years. Finwe will listen intently to anything Norima Rousco* has to say, but if called upon to speak, will only stumble over even the most basic question, in elven or common.

[ooc]I took the liberty of translating Running Fox into Tolkein's Elvish language Qenya on a lark. It translates to "Swift-running Fox."

Hey would it be appropriate if we were all to list our class/build plans here. I'm not exactly sure what the final "party" will be composed of, especially considering chance events that could alter our plans. So, I'll start:

Fey Saboteur (ninja - Complete Adventurer)

Basically a nature forest predatory background blending of monk-rogue I guess, or even a little assasin-ish is how I see her. But not evil, very just with a strict wood-elf druidic sense of justice.

The reason I ask is because I was thinking, the name "Forest Force" while a little too close to Justice League or the like, actually describes the party pretty well.

Finwe is tempted to rush forward for some of the delicious food. She thought for a moment the elf caught her eye, and she understood his signal for food and friendship. But just as quickly she pulled back, and her attention was caught by Daetha, who looked up at Running Fox with wonder in his eyes.

Her position relaxed and she sat, cross-legged on the edge of the brushline. She would come forward for food and friendship, but not until the boy had found what he was looking for. For now she would relish the rich smells, the slight breeze, and the dappling of the sun.

Finwe steps to the edge of the tree-line and plants the end of her sharpened stake in the ground. In an instant she knows this is no relation of her family, nor was he known at the Enclave of Corustaith, to her knowledge at least. Could he be one of the woodsmen? So far she has avoided these neighbors, but today, her aquaintance with Daetha makes him seem more approachable.

The presence of a priest of Ehlonna draws her ever closer to the group.

Finwe stands at the edge of the glade holding her spear. She will watch the encounter unfold silently unless she is called upon. She will most gladly enjoy a morsel of food, as her mouth is watering at the good smells. The way of the Owl, her almond eyes widen to a starry gaze meditating on the ever-unfolding universe. How exciting, good luck everyone! Oh and good luck to you DM on your tabletop game this Saturday. Mine is Friday nights.

I agree and changed one of my training plans. AS far as Dex goes, I am ok with over-doing it on Dex based training. If I waste some attribute building cuz I maxed out Dex, I would be happy to have a 20 Dex, no worries. I dont mind disadvantages and don't min-max either. Dex-Wis-Int-Cha are all I care about, in that order. New plan outlined below.

DM:

Spoiler:

3) Dex: She will practice with her make-shift spear, generally throwing it when possible. She has no interest in increasing her strength, and her goal is to stay out of reach of harms way.

Finwe Yrinsil (F Wild Elf Fey Saboteur 0.0)

Amiri

Ya, FW, I see what you mean about the simple weapon proficiency, but I am trying to avoid advancing my strength beyond the 10 it already stands. That is enough stregth for her. I was considering using my sharpened stick as a jevelin, which would be dex/str I suppose, or I could go with a sling, but that doesnt really mesh with the background, and its not a Fey Saboteur weapon. SO I am thinking this proto-javelin, basically a sharpened stick a la Buffy the V.S. could be a progenitor for future development as a dagger, a weapon also able to be used thrown or held.

(I also just really like my desription of task #1 and it solidifies her personality for me. Could I change task #3 away from in and use my sharpened stick/javelin as a Str/Dex training, focusing on the Dex aspect.) I don't know where you atand on spreading 2 abilities over the 3 tasks. (And at some point I really do need to raise my Int, so it is a sub-optimal choice for me.)

(OOC: For some reason I can see all the b-b-code tags, but they do not work when I add them to my own posts. Firefox issue? Who Knows?

DM, I believe I may have finally gotten it. Forgive my previous difficulties as sometimes I can be a bit thick. But I think I have it now, here is her complete and hopefully positive 2-year regimen:

(also added to character sheet)

Spoiler:

You get three abilities to improve, each one tied to one stat and one skill/feat/special ability etc.

First 2-Year Training Regimen:

1) Dex:Practice skills 'Balance/Hide/Tumble' which hopefully will lead to her 'Sudden Strike' class skill. She does this by practicing all the predatory moves of all the animals she has watched as a child of the wilderness. The moves she practices are the following: Hawk, lynx, owl, the fox, and incredibly, that of the owl-bear, an incident that almost cost her life, but one which taught her much of the wilds, and led to her longing for the company civilization provides. She generally practices in three places: her native woods, along the fence posts of the Risper ranches, and hanging about the edge of town at the White Stag Inn (This maybe pushing it, but... she will throw her sharpened stake as part of her attack routine, as a crude javelin. It his her improvement on the techniques of the animal totems she follows.)

2) Wis:Hopes to unlock inner Ki Power. She practices her 'Stalking' ability by waiting nearly silent and still for hours(Listen and/or Spot class skills.) She often does this in or around the area of The Cashel or her usual haunts: Rispers, White Stag, and recently, her recollection of her young druidic instruction has made her curious of one called The Unicorn Goddess. It was a shrine she heard about, that has brought her to lurk about The Risper's.

3) Int:Wander the forest alone or sometimes with children from the village, Disabling Devices, Searching for traps, Crafting Traps (also leading to Fey Saboteur's class ability Trapfinding.)

4) To be determined, but Finwe's intentions are to 'infiltrate' society due to her innate sense of justice. Barring that, to get a job...

Someone leaves small parcels of food in the woods for you. They must be good, because you haven't caught them at it. Probably an elf. The Rispers seem a happy, hard working family and their shrine to Ehlonna, the Unicorn Goddess a very good thing indeed.

Every three or four weeks, the cashel seems to be used by passing elves. It is a regular meeting place and the you have noticed the elven smithy walking back from there more than once.

Finwe will gladly eat the food, and will take any left over wrappings and fashion them into small items like birds nests, and leave them where the food was left.

The ‘meta’ reasons for my reluctance to play a wilderness themed character comes from the fact that we already have a few of those in the group. I don’t want a ‘wilderness rogue’ or scout, druid, etc. to be ranger/cleric second-fiddle. Character reasons for not being a druid, scout etc are that I want Finwe to be a unique combination of two personality traits: Wild predator and traditional rogue. The focus for the future is on roguish abilities, but she has a rich history of wilderness to draw upon. Basically I want to fill the rogue niche in a traditional party, but I want a spice up the combat aspect by having her ninja abilities, which are drawn from the wilderness and elvish lore rather than Hong Kong. See, a ninja without any orient!

1) Fey Saboteur Class skill - Sudden Strike, see Item 4.

2) Simple Weapon – Staff. (My ultimate goal is to use a dex-based weapon thru weapon finesse feat, so I am in a bind to choose a simple weapon to practice with that actually propels my character forward.) Hence I will simply use my sharpened stick as my weapon of training. I see it as being a utilitarian stick, part walking staff, part quarter staff, with a sharp end so I can poke things. I will use it as a staff for purposes of simple weapon training, I believe.

3) Ninja Class Weapon – Short bow. In the evenings I will practice my short bow, never against living creatures but only target practice.

4) Work on Wisdom, Dexterity. When not in action, Finwe will sit, stand, crouch, or wait in perfect stillness. Her stance is based on the prowling Lynx, who might watch her quarry for hours unmoving before striking. While in this pose, she meditates upon the teaching of her druidic ancestor and the Enclave at Corustaith. (Wisdom). When in action, ALL her concentration is focused on her acrobatic abilities, and she will spend time every day (preferable when Taya is around) by practice her “Hawk Strike” “Lynx Strike” and “Owlbear Attack” moves. This is done on a fence-post of the Rispers, if appropriate, a la Karate Kid. She uses her pointy stick in these practices (Dex) (I will forsake all training in strength and constitution in order to devote all my energy to Wisdom and Dexterity)

When not in training Finwe will devote her time to lurking about the Rispers, including a chance to learn more about this Unicorn Goddess. She will also devote time exploring the woods with Daetha. She will attempt to get him to set up traps for her to find, and she will set traps for him to find. That kind of thing. Thirdly, she will spend time prowling and scowling about the White Stag. She is not so much interested in the hobbits, as the merchants, caravans, and strangers who pass thru town. She is looking for something, but knows not what. She will explore the Cashel when and if possible, and would like to contact local elves of the town even using her parents to meet, but will avoid croneys of Sir Kuiper, to whom she has a natural dislike.

I have updated my character sheet and will proceed with training plans in my next post.

Oh and French, could I change the name of the class to "Fey Saboteur"? Even though I have this immense forest background to draw from, I want to be a spy, rogue, commando type, and Saboteur was the coolest synonym for spy that I could find.

Thanx, and can I add other tasks I would like to do during the 2 yr period, local small things. For instance, I plan on doing a lot of lurking about the Hobbitses Inn.

I will make a detailed post tonite, but as I am at work, I cant invest the time and concentration needed right now.

Finwe has a basic time frame listed on her character sheet, but I will go into greater detail tonite. For the first time playing D&D I almost wish I could go classless. Lol, there are so many options, I need to really fine tune my character perception.

I like the idea of being a spy, and I like the idea of 'infiltrating' society. I would be happy to give up my 30 g for a short bow.

SO I am thinking nightdancer is an elven ninja? (I cant find any info on them but I read in the fluff text of ninja's the rareness of the elven ninja.) OK, I am pumped about this idea. Finwe has a lot of energy to channel and ninja is the way to go with her aversion to society and her upbringing I think.

Perhaps this path could land in her lap tru fate or luck? Such as: her ex-aristocrat father needs an ally he can trust to help put him back into his proper place, a half-crazy ninja daughter would do the trick! That would supply the elf training required. Or a merchant caravan passing thru has ties to such an organization and sees my potential talent.

I also want to add: Finwe is not evil, not even close. True neutral tending towards good, it is just that her morals were learned in the unforgiving wilderness where one mis-step, one moment of unpreparedness will end in death. She is the instrument of harsh justice.

And relishes it.

I do wish she could have more ties that bind with the other characters, I might be making Finwe TOO much of a loner...

Finwe Yrinsil (F Wild Elf Fey Saboteur 0.0)

Amiri

Perfect. 5 Constitution wow, she is sickly. It is her Achilles heel, her frailty. Her mortal body is too flimsy to contain her fiery spirit! I enjoy a good disadvantage, it builds character heh heh.

If you agree French Wolf, I think Finwe is complete and will stay put as she is until we move forward if that is ok.

To recap my first year plans:
1-Work on Dex, Wis (thru meditation, watching others closely and acrobatic practice of surprise attack - the way of the owl, hawk, and lynx) Will sacrifice strength ability as needed.

2-Try to befriend Taya and family if possible, and help her with animal handling. (Help with overcoming trees if possible)

3-Continue childhood activity of exploring woods with Mothman if possible. Focus on animal friendship and stalking, tracking, hiding in shadows.

4-Haunt White Stag Inn in order to get job with caravan, traders, any position that gets me travelling, even if it is local, she has wander-lust.

Finwe Yrinsil (F Wild Elf Fey Saboteur 0.0)

Amiri

That sounds perfect to me as well. Finwe is also extremely timid, not out of fear or shyness, but simply because she has such small amount of interaction experience. I would picture her lurking outside the fences, befriending the animals when no others are aroundl, maybe a little closer each day, and one morning Taya comes out at dawn to find her perching atop a fence post watching Taya intently. Finwe wants to get close to the animals but she knows she must befriend Taya, who seems like a person she can relate to.

She will instigate this 'friendship' by stalking Taya from the shadows, trying to get and stay as close to her as possible without being seen. This will include entering into any buildings or homes if possible. If caught FInwe will fight of flee with the sharpened stick she carries. She admires the people though, and would never attack to injure, just to escape. IF that happens, Finwe will lay low for a few days (maybe going back to the halflings inn) until her interest in Taya draws her back to the ranch.

Finwe will try to impress Taya by doing acrobatics: using her lithe body to mimic owl, hawk, and lynx attacks.

(This is Finwe's understanding of how to begin a relationship)

Finwe's immediate aspirations are: to get a dagger, the finer the better, she likes pretty objects, especially silver. To get a big voluminous dark cloak. To befriend Taya, to have a conversation with a person, and to improve her animal-strike abilities thru acrobatic practice.

(Elves have a strandard knowledge of bow and sword, but I think Finwe would be an exception to that rule. However, I see her as needing a bow to survive, even if it is a crudely crafted bow that could do no more that damage a rabbit. Is this ok, DM?)

Finwe Yrinsil (F Wild Elf Fey Saboteur 0.0)

Amiri

Love it, much better than my mish-mash, thank you for the assistance. All the flavor of what I Was looking for without any of the wierness lol. I would like to take the one family of horsemen up on their offer of aid. Perhaps my first acts upon entering Tricaster would be A) to still lurk about the Halfling's mercantile building, and in my spare time, I wander over to the horsefields of the Risper's helping out as I may, while still maintaining a distance.

(My goals remain the same, to concentrate on Dex-Wis, Animal handling, tracking, hiding in shadows, and creeping around. I want to INFILTRATE scociety before I enter it full-time and risk another hurt.)

I want it to be clear that for many years it was the wildnerness and its creatures were her only comfort. The owlbear attack showed her the brutal jjustice of the wilds, and she wants to see the 'other life' in the cities. Tricaster seems as good a place as any to begin!

Finwe Yrinsil (F Wild Elf Fey Saboteur 0.0)

Amiri

OK, after seeing the potential pc roster, I am thinking I need a complete change, but I dont really want to change any past we already nailed down so here is what I am thinking:

Finwe came to know the forest and environs intimately and continued under the tutelage of the druids until she reached 109, at which time she made a momentous decision. She forsook the woodlands of her youth and decided to enter into civilization. Tax men were evil, she knew from travellers, and she intended to make her way to Greyhawk to deal with them as she judged.

(I see you are using Complete Adventurer, could I dare hope for Ninja? Lol, not your typical Crouching Tiger, but an elf trained to hunt by a hawk, taught her stealth by the owls of her childhood roosts, an elvish fiend who leaps forth from the shadows like a prowler of the darkest wilderness!

Lol, anyhow, she will head to the White Stag and lurk about the place hoping to find employment of any sort. With an 8 charisma, and little prior interaction, she will not make a good impression on the halflings who run the place, and will scorn them, until they prove worthy of her attention. Anything that gets her on the road and out of town, and eventually to the hive of these 'tax men' A rich merchant caravan would be optimal, but hey, even the donkey cart up to High Fort Hill and back is better then sitting around. She is ready to make her destiny, and she must break with her home to do it. Perhaps her ex-aristocrat father is in Greyhawk? She might try to reconcile with him or siblings, be they on her path.

(OOC, Meta-gaming): I dont know where to go here, but I am just going to see what happens, she is a Dex-Wis based build. Her con, only 7 right now, I dont see as rising, so it may even drop if it will help other traits. Strength is the second least important, but CHA and INT next. She will try to basically 'temp' her way along the roads, on a walking-tour style wandering way to Greyhawk. (If ninja is out of the question, I will go rogue, we need a rogue, and perhaps do multi-class rogue-monk. Who knows, I'm going to roll with it and see what happens.

Skills, she has a rude spear she carved herself and I hope short bow. (Wood Carving is an occupation idea, did you mention something about choosing a 'craft'?) She also plans to get a dagger, she has seen fine silver-edged ones carried by the wealthy, and she plan on slaying the first wealthy dagger carrier she can whom she judges to be worthy of death. (she is lenient lol, she doesnt plan on actually killing one! Unless she must, heh heh)

OK, one thing I would like Finwe to keep is her kinship with animals of all sorts, and will invest time and skill into [Animal Handling] always interacting, playig with, calling, tracking, and being one with the animals of the forest. She will also act as mercenary, scout, guide, using these skills. And of course, when able she will use typical rogue class skills, such as always skulking in the shadows, climbing all trees, ridges, and ruined walls, and genral acrobatic feats, such as leaping into and out of trees, diving from high ledges, and flying out of the darkest shadows to stab her foes in the back.

Maybe I could have also been a forest friend of Daetha's mom and helped her by collecting pretty shells or pebbles for bead-crafting or something. Maybe I knew Daetha as a babe, and that is how our unlikely friendship came about? ((Shrugs))

Are we in a more or less civilized world? Greyhawk, I understand, but I have seen it played as settled and content or wild and war-torn.

I am also thinking about the druid-rogue idea. I kinda like it, but I have no skillz in coming up with a whole new class, I could perhaps multi-class the two together? If so, I might one day decide to up and leave the trees of my youth and go to the city of my father, their slipping into the same stealthy, shadowy existence in the alleyways and back-rooms as I was in the glades and forest paths?

OK, sorry for swaying too far off course last nite, but when I start writing it just comes out, lol. But, to bring things more in-line with the rolls (yet still keeping the wild-child) I shall revise a bit.

Parentage: The father is an elf of ancient lineage, whose home was destroyed by an orc raid. (ex-aristocrat) He left to build a new home. While traveling, he stopped at Corustaith to take council. There he met Finwe’s mother, a young wild-elf from the region. Who was visiting a great uncle at the Druid Enclave. They had a “tryst” that lasted thru the golden summer, but when the leaves changed, he moved on to nearest large city to be with his son/daughter. He left Finwe’s mother with a full womb, and the following spring she gave birth.

Elves minds are strange to the minds of man. It is difficult to explain why the elf-maid left her baby daughter in the woods. The callous answer was that she was in no mood to be a single mother, but that is too simple. While having no interest in the spirit of the wilderness, she knew that her daughter might somehow survive. The druids had given her an oracle maybe, claiming that only by sacrificing her unborn child to the wilds could she hope to save her? Who knows, she left the babe in a glade, and so began the rocky childhood of Finwe, unknown to her father and half-siblings, abandoned by the mother, she carved her own way thru stealth and wisdom.

The druids were a constant in her life, and her only connection to the outside world. When she had spent many years in the woods, she met another child, a human from Tricaster who spent much time in the woods, and together they learned the lore of the forest. She taught him much, since she had been on her own for over 100 years at this point, but his human mind grasped quickly what she spent decades perfecting. Trapping, tracking, animal friendship, swinging from vines and climbing trees together were their main form of entertainment when they met. (Mothman)

Maybe at some point she left the forest to meet her father, and met her siblings, but they had no interest in her 'wildness' and she came away with nothing but the bag of gold?

Better?

Her plans for the future are to keep doing what she is doing, studying with the druids, living in the wilds, befriending animals, etc.

(I hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes with trying for a druid? I saw a post where the possibility was mentioned, but to be honest, it is hard for me to see who all is involved in this, can we get a roll call or update sometime soon, I guess after histories are nailed down is the best time to do it.)

AGE 109
FATHER: Ex-aristocrat (+2 on Wealth table)
MOTHER:Herbalist/apothecary
SIBLINGS: One brother and one sister
GOOD/BAD:
Gifted strange vision of clarity (+1 Wisdom permanent)
Childhood plagued by illness (-1 Con)
ANCESTOR:Druid of the Emerald Circle (yay)
WEALTH: 30 gold pieces

The blood runs pure in Finwe's veins. So much is all that needs be said of her ancestry. That and a bag of gold, naught else. Dispossessed as a youth, she was raised in the wild, by the wild woods of ...("Gnarly?) The first night alone a rabbit's warren was in her lap, then a lynx's den, and finally a dryad took cruel pity on the waif, and kept her alive, but barely, that first harsh winter by the edge of a icy brook, shivering and alabaster like ice herself. 'Twas a raven's nest kept her bag of gold coins, for many years.

By Finwe's fifth winter, she was in control of her destiny, a cunning survivor, and on her seventh she met a druid of the Emerald Circle. She was taken in and her ancestry was tested, she was an Yrinsil, of ancient lineage. Her parents were known to live many hundreds of leagues away. Why she was dispossessed is never discovered, from the first, she showed a determination to remain in the forest, and to disown all claim to her roots. Only the brightness of her glance was testament to her wealthy lineage. That and a bag of thirty gold.

The Conclave took it upon themselves to see her elevated to her proper place, but they needn't have bothered. Though forever diminished by her winter in a lynx den, she was small of stature and waif-like, but she was strong of will, and her spirit burned like blue fire in her eyes. Few Elves could claim the ancient House to which she was bastardized, but she cared naught. When she left the forest at last, they gave her that cracked leather bag of gold coins. (Country of origin?)

To Finwe Yrinsil, elvish immortality was nothing, she lived for each moment balancing it all on the edge of her spear. It was the Emerald Circle that gave her insight, but she took it to action, the edge of her spear or her blazing sapphire eyes.

Perhaps those many years in the woods, she became (as a private oath to herself) to protect from defilement a certain magic pool in the woods she dwelt. A pool that granted all a permanent strength, all but her, whom the dryad would never aid, but only give in dribs and drabs to keep alive... She was private judge of all who entered the glade, and if she found them worthy, she remained hidden in the branches. But if those she deemed foul came into her glade, The fountain of Strength, she would attack until the left or were slain. She learned craftiness, and set snares and traps to ward the glade. (As druid) She also used the power of communion with the earth spirits to cause weeds and briers to rise up from the ground around the fountain when she concentrated and uttered certain druidic chants. (Entangle) It was her contemplation of these earth spirits she meditated upon as she waited in ambush (wisdom).

ooc: I was originally planning a druid, but I see a cleric already? I'm not sure, but I can easily change any -or all- of this, as needed. One preference: Druid is the 'most' civilized class, I would prefer to get less, such as ranger, barb even or maybe one of those alts I saw mentioned? A shamanistic elven war priestess Spear-maiden type thang would be perfect. Lol, Im just saying, I need more direction, please advise anything not appropriate. Meanwhile I will read more posts and try to come up with first year's activities, and was that some ability scores I saw?...)

Reading more posts, I am thinking scout as a possibility, though I do feel a strong connection to all woodland creatures. Is there a druid-rogue? (Mind explodes at the possibility of class idea) I think I'll leave off here, and get some input.

Hmm, this is quite a bit to consider, Finwe's tale is ...complicated.

Will be a bit, but OMW!

Well, I see I am too late to be made a main, but I would love to be considered for an alt position. I have little of the experience most people who signed up have, but I do have a willingness to have fun and I post a lot. Ha ha, those are my two main plusses.

1. Finwe Yrinsil is a young elf maiden who grew up alone, the hard way. Her parents or clan were destroyed and she was sent into the deep woods alone in hopes of surviving. Helped along the way by other Fey creatures as well as a druid enclave, she developed into a survivalist and an individualist. She relies on no one but herself to meet her needs and is often seen helping those in need wehn she can. She is neutral towards good/evil and law/chaos, but she sees the evil that has been done to her and her family as a tip of the scales that she can rectify by good acts. Destruction of evil humanoids (Orcs) are her way of maintaining the balance, but NEVER call it revenge, or she might find a little balance is needed elsewhere.

This is her first real coming out into the world, which she sees as entering onto a wider stage to set more wrongs to right. But things are in flux, she could turn to good, or chaos, depending on how events unfold, she is unmolded clay. She is a wood or wild elf from some large stretch of woods near wild lands. Her future will most likely lie in Druidism, perhaps a ranger, or even the remote possibility of becoming a barbarian (!).

2. Many years D&D experience, mostly as a DM, including running Temple down to the third level before an unfortunate party-wipe (Friends still bring that up to my chagrin) but as a player, I am playing in a campaign here on Paizo that just started (Necro) and am DMing a p-n-p game, all 3rd edition. I skipped out on 2nd edition totally, only coming back to the fold in 2000 when 3rd came out. I am easy and breezy and will post too much for my own good :)

3. I cant remember what the third question was.
