(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

"I have no idea what a sea erchin is, but we'll worry about it later," Finn interrupts impatiently.

He moves over to the north door and listens intently.

Perception 1d20+12=21

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

"Shhh!" hisses Finn as he follows the pair through the maze of crates.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn sends a man-shaped fiery form walking through the crates.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn scowls in frustration. "Agreed. It looks like the soup-throwing bastard is long gone. He's probably alerted the whole guild by now..."

I imagine the party will check the north door now?

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn scans the room.

1d20+12=31

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn nods silently and draws his repeater.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn begins tearing apart the room, looking for the source of the thrown soup.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn's muscles quiver in anticipation of combat.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn dashes in, ready to deliver swift death to the stew-flinging grenadier.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Whisper will check both doors for traps. Then we'll go through the south door (if it's safe).

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Keeper of Forbidden Lore wrote:
Finn , which door ya have 2 of them in that little hallway

The north one.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn listens at the door as suggested.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn rolls his eyes. "They're only birds, Ardanto. Make it quick, Daurros," he whispers.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn follows close behind Ardanto, ever-wary for an ambush.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn listens carefully for any noises and directs his dancing lights into any dark corners of the room.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn keeps his longspear at the ready, prepared to confront any enemies that may come rushing through the door.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

To the right!

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn strains his ears and tries to pick up any noises coming from beyond the door.

1d20+12=21

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn will create some Dancing Lights for good measure.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn listens carefully for any signs of trouble as he draws his longspear; he hangs back, allowing Ardanto and Guard to take the front rank.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn follows shortly afterwards, similarly bloodied.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn scrounges what he can from the corpse of the sniper and then gingerly climbs down from the roof (with the help of Ardanto and the others. A large bloodstain marks where a crossbow bolt entered his side, and his hands are still smeared with gore.

"I think we should enter in the back door as soon as possible. We may still have some element of surprise if we act quickly."

"And again I thank you, Thoven, for returning my life to me. I will not forget."

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Ardanto, etc.:

Spoiler:
Finn groans. "I'm wounded, Ardanto. Let the coward escape; we will still have the element of surprise if Whisper can let us in through the back door."

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Alley folks:

Spoiler:
Finn wipes his bloody hands on the tunic of the man he just killed, then grabs the man's crossbow and bolts.

"Are you all right down there, Whisper?" he calls out quietly and he peeks over the edge of the roof.

Finn is taking the total defense action in case the escaping sniper changes his mind about running away. What are the stats of the crossbow? Does it require exotic weapon proficiency to use?

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Seeker, etc.

Spoiler:
Assuming that Finn made it to the roof...

A blinding wave of pain washes over Finn. I can't die...not now. Not before I've found Vanderboren and made him pay.

The pain turns to cold anger as the monk drops into a crouch and steps forward, dodging and weaving, and slashes out with a pair of sharp talons in a deadly technique taught to him by Osric.

Step towards one of the crossbowmen and fight defensively (AC 21) with two claws.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Seeker, etc.

Spoiler:
Did Finn reach the roof or not?

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Seeker, Whisper:

Spoiler:
Finn rolls up his sleeves and tries to climb up the alley wall in order to reach the two archers above.

"Whisper -- work on the door if you can. I'll try to stop these snipers!" he cries.

two climb checks: 1d20+3=8 1d20+3=19
use an action point to reroll the first climb check: 1d20+3=11

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Seeker, Whisper:

Spoiler:
If Finn tries to climb up the wall, would he get the -10 DC modifier for being able to brace against two opposite walls? It sounds like the alley is pretty narrow.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Seeker, Whisper:

Spoiler:
How high is the wall? And how strong does the door look?

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn also looks for any clues or secret doors.

1d20+12=14

Don't forget about Finn's elven secret door "radar sense".

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn prepares by taking a deep breath and summoning a coat of armor from pure arcane force.

Cast mage armor.

Note that Finn is exactly as stealthy as Whisper, but with better sight and hearing. :)

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Whisper. wrote:
"If you think deception won't work I could go ahead and try to sneak in without the distraction" Whisper offers meekly.

"If you are sneaking in, I insist on going with you. I don't think you will be safe alone in case of danger, and I have had practice in evading the eyes of my enemies..." Determination is evident on Finn's grim face.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

"Forzakhad, I will do what I can to aid you as long as it does not interfere with our duties to Lady Vanderboren and my personal revenge against Vanthus. When a man leaves me for dead, he had better make very sure that I am dead," Finn warns balefully.

"Ardanto, I suggest using as much stealth as possible, although Guard is not very quiet when he moves -- I do not mean to offend, but my ears do not lie."

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

After a couple of days of shopping and training, Finn searches for his comrades. If they don't find Vanthus soon, he may skip town and it will be all the more difficult for the martial artist to exact his revenge...

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Guard wrote:

As Guard is a weaponsmith, why don't you let him do the work? Sure, it takes more time then simply buying it, but it is way cheaper.

As you say, it takes a long time. A weaponsmith with a +10 modifier can craft about 40 gp per week, so it takes about 8 weeks to create a mwk weapon (unless we use some alternate crafting rules).

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn buys the finest spear that he can find and practices using it on a practice dummy down at the Arena.

That bastard Vanderboren...dropping me into a hole and leaving me for dead...and stealing his sister's birthright...if I ever get my hands on him...I can feel the power flowing through my veins...I'll tear him limb from limb...I'll break his neck...I'll...

Finn opens his eyes. Before him is a wooden practice dummy covered in horrible gashes, and his fingers are tipped with cruel claws. The talons shrink before his eyes, but he sees the destruction they have wrought and he is horrified. Fortunately no one else at the arena seemed to have noticed.

Finn will spend his spare time practicing at the arena. He'll also buy a scroll of Shield.

Finn

I believe you are short of cash to buy your master work longspear, Ardanto will make up the difference and you can pay him back later.

He has 88 gp from earlier, so he should be fine.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Can Daurros determine how many charges are in the wand?

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn suggests selling the earth elemental gem, assuming we can get a good price for it.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

"Unfortunately, Ithaniar has left your employ, Lady Vanderboren," Finn states tactfully.

"However, we did find your brother, but he trapped us in a cave and got away. We found a scroll that claims he is hiding out with a group of thieves called the Lotus Dragons."

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

"I'd be glad to come along, but I insist on paying for myself. In fact, I should be treating you as well." Finn joins the fellow in some food, after cleaning up a bit first.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

"Thoven, I would also welcome your help finding and punishing Vanthus. You proved a great help down there, and I don't think we showed much weakness at all, despite what Ithaniar said."

Finn frowns slightly. "I can't say that I approve of some of your church's actions against the shifting folk, but I will judge you by your own actions, not those of your brethren."

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn also helps with the heavy lifting. Seeing the chest full of treasure...never has he seen such wealth in one place in his life! And a share of that could be his.

"Er...how much money do you think is in this chest?" he asks casually.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Ardanto Valanto wrote:
Whisper, I thought you could take a 20 on disable device and searching for traps as there is no penalty for rolling a one?

Searching you can take 20 on. Disable Device you can't (since you trigger a trap if you fail by 5 or more).

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn makes sure the room is well-lit and he scans for magic as well.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn watches Guard standing silently before the door, wondering what is going on inside the mind of the warforged.

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Finn scans the area with Detect Magic, looking for threats (or treasure!).

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Did we find an exit while looking around?

Finn looks at the spiky floor skeptically. "I don't like the looks of this place. Let's be as careful as possible."

He summons up another ball of light and sends it forward to illuminate the way ahead. In his hands he holds his longspear ready to strike against any more crabs or zombies.

Acrobatics: 1d20+6=22

Can we take 10 with our Acrobatics checks?

(Male Half-elf Monk 4/Sorcerer 1)

Yes, go ahead.
