Finik Derakht is the youngest son of Nazdik Derakht, the most recent in a long line of lumber workers, and as such was expected to take up the axe like his father before him. However, it was not to be.
From the earliest years Finik could remember he always was around axes and was expected to take the mantle of his father in the Lumber trade. So that’s what Fenik always thought when he was young that all there was to life was following in his father’s foot steps. He showed great potential at a early age towards the work, at 6 years old he was easily chopping the little branches off the bigger trees that his father cut down. As he got a little older he started to get a little bigger then his older brother Razz. Life was simple at this time, he lived knowing what his destiny was or at least he thought he did…
When the years started pass, his older brother Razz was afflicted by ghosts and nightmares. Many said he was mad and imagining them ,but Finik always believed his big bro and would try to help him in the early stages of this so called madness. Due to his affliction something happened to Razz that effected Finik’s view on his life his brother didn’t go into the Lumber trade. Finik never realized that they could say no to their father, and could make there own choice. So as Finik reached the age to go out in the forest with his father and the other lumberjacks he kept wondering what was the point of chopping down these trees everyday. So Finik started sneaking off from the work sites and finding out that there is more to the world. He enjoyed his time away from the site and swaying away from life his father was grooming him for. Finik like most of the things he does got good at sneaking off and he found ways to disable the slacker bells. (Foreman's set up bell/chime traps for catching ditchers.)In the begining he only ditched once a week then twice then four times then most of his work week was spent outside outside the site just enjoying himself. He was getting bored with the woods and Finik started venturing off to towns. He was getting into a lot of fights when he visited the towns, Finik enjoyed them and even bought the losers ales afterward. The only problem was his axe was ment as a tool, and not reinforced like a true weapon. Nazdik was already suspious of Finik, especially when he took his axe to the smithy to make it truly work of his strength (Going with Great axe yay!). Finik's father confronted him about his newly found laziness and they got into a huge argument with Finik storming off and saying that a axe can do more then just chop wood. Finik doesn't talk much with his father, he spends his days laying around and getting into trouble. He likes to egg on his brother especially when he lectures him on going back to the families trade. But yet hangs around his brother and sister just to keep a eye on them, to make sure they aren't going off on a adventure without him.
