About Fenna ThistleswadeFenna was once, before the death of her god, a highly respected prophetess, penning countless scripts telling of her divinely inspired visions. Her faith was her passion, and her prophecies a manifestation of that, but when Aroden’s greatly anticipated return instead resulted in his death, something within her broke. With the death of her passion—something that is required to sustain all gnomes—she succumbed to the horrible condition known as The Bleaching. Physically, the manifestation was slow, her once brightly coloured hair began to fade to a stark white, while her eyes and skin fell into an almost lifeless grey. The mental impact however, was far from slow, and not limited to just The Bleaching, in the instant Aroden died, shattering a thousand lifetimes of prophecy, so too did her mind shatter. The human priests, distraught over the loss of their god, knew little of the ailment that struck Fenna, and without their divine magics could do little to help her. Seeing little alternative, they sent her to live amongst an enclave of her own kind within the Gronzi forest. There she has lived in seclusion for the last century, being cared for by the closest thing that exists to experts on The Bleaching. Over the years, her mental state stabilised under their diligence, and while she has still not recovered to her former self, she is capable of holding mostly coherent conversations, and for the most part can care for herself. Indeed, for the last fifty years, her condition has been such that her caretakers allowed her to roam briefly into the surrounding forests, perhaps there to find something fresh to hold her interest. While the miraculous results—only half hoped for—did not materialise, not long after beginning her ventures Fenna did meet a young boy, doing some wandering of his own. His name was Galen Medvyed, and his youthful curiosity brought Fenna the nearest thing to joy she had felt in a long time. The two have remained good friends ever since, though Galen’s visits have dwindled in recent years, due to his responsibilities to his house. Several months ago, Fenna received a letter from Absalom, containing some of her own prophetic writings. At first she seemed to dismiss the letter as a cruel reminder of better days, but on a recent night—perhaps by coincidence alone, the same night that Akiton was visible in the night sky, floating amidst the Empty Throne constellation—she quietly packed her belongings and left the enclave that had been her home for a century. Before taking her leave, she left a note for those who had helped her, explaining where, if not why, she was going. For Galen she left another note, containing just a single phrase: "The stars, they are dancing again." Fenna Thistleswade
