The stout alchemist harrumphs before Arasmes can reply.

All but a few men and women can turn to beasts with the right provocation but judging the worth of peoples hearts through the lens of a daemon's corruption seems uncharitable to me by Nethys!

Yet Master Arasmes can speak for himself I do not doubt.

Sure. Here.

I can do one that helps against natural temperature variance but not energy. Arjun was working on one and was close I think but he won't be mixing anything for a while.

He and Arjun are still third level so endure elements, no resist energy.

Help. Yes my help. You'll need everything I have to save Arjun.

He leaves for the laboratory returning a few minutes later with his small casket of potions.

Take them. Just help him please. I can prepare some more extracts in the morning.

8 potions of cure light wounds (CL 1), 3 potions of lesser restoration.

Zantus, anything you can provide us with, in terms of healing or aid, in the morning would prove most useful if we are to have any chance of saving Arjun and against this Kardswann."

Khalid Diplomacy 1d20 + 5 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 5 = 19 (ad hoc)

Anyone want to try an assist to get 20.

The old achemist runs his eyes over the group obviously looking for Arjun.

Where is Arjun? Where is my boy? He pleads.

Father Zanthus provides you with an update on the condition of Oxvard, the man you rescued, but it seems little improved. It seems likely that the fiend he spoke of during his ramblings was the very one you defeated. Perhaps the other things he spoke of were true as well? muses the old alchemist.

He has mentioned several times this group 'the lions' and in particular a man named Felliped. Perhaps he is still a prisoner of the gnolls?

You gather your gear and make ready to depart. Those who are capable of using the altar for a bless may want to do so now.

Father Zanthus hands another two extracts to Arjun. I had to use some herbs to sedate our new friend Oxvard over the night. He clearly isn't from Katapesh and seems to speak nothing of our language. He said little more that made any sense although I think he is, or was, a priest of Abadar and he speaks of these lions as if they were a group of some kind. He is quiet now but I believe it will take some time before we can know whether he is capable of providing anything more useful. I'm not sure what to make of his talk about a fiend let alone the other things he mentioned. But Arjun, metaphoric or literal, please be careful.

You leave the monastery, descending through the hills, and again for that section you seem to have a furry escort which leaves you behind as you reach the flatter section surrounding the town. About 45 minutes from when you started you find yourself looking at the town, a couple of hundred yards to the north, from behind the concealment of a low rise. The lower section of town looks quiet. Here at least there is no sign of increased gnoll activity or indeed any activity at all.

No lad. Just try and take better care of yourself. No more letting the local wildlife take big bites out of you.

Almah turns to Father Zantus.

Yes thank you… Ahem. He shuffles up papers and adjusts his glasses. I carried out an extensive search of the Pactmaster's libraries but the available information on Kelmarane is quite limited I'm afraid. I did manage to find a map though. This is about twenty five years old but should still provide the basic typography around the town. THIS IS ON THE SITE

I found more out about the Kuldis tribe. They came from the north originally and culturally they're really quite distinct from the other Brazen Peaks tribes. For one, they worship Lamashtu rather than Rovagug. Local tribes consider them heretics which is ironic if you think about it…. um where was I? Oh Yes. Lamashtu. We can expect shaman I suppose, they can be both male and female. Any yes, hyenas of course. And that's it really until we learn more.

Of course my healing talents are at everyone's disposal. I can make healing extracts for expeditions into the town although I suppose I should keep some for trouble here as well. I have also potions but my supply is limited I'm afraid. We really must try and limit those to emergencies. In terms of mundane medical supplies and herbs we are well stocked.
