Currently my group is allowed any source, with no restrictions. Some things get disallowed or houseruled into unbrokenness on certain occasions, but most everything is allowed. I enjoy having lots of choices, so I allow my players free reign. That said, however, I've decided to go a different route for my next campaign (going to be running CoCT) and restrict the class and spell selection to mainly the PHB, if only to try it out and see how a more limited campaign runs. Feats will be allowed from anywhere, though. Daigle wrote:
The Spell Compendium also has a few... displacer form, draconic polymorph, and fiendform are the ones I can find in there. Dragon Magic has least and lesser dragonshape Complete Mage has shape of the hellspawned stalker, aspect of the icy hunter, form of the threefold beast, dreaded form of the eye tyrant, and unyielding form of inevitable death, which turn you into a hellhound, winter wolf, chimera, beholder, and marut, respectively. If you're playing 4E, you'll be becoming a god pretty soon... In all seriousness, though, I think you should continue as a rogue. Have your DM explain the situation of Epic Levels to you. (c.f. DMG 206) Really, I would suggest to your DM to conclude your game and start a new one, as epic levels are pretty broken. Although I haven't played or run RoTL, I do follow many of the threads here on the boards. I think one thing that you should look out for early on in the campaign is... Spoiler:
The difficulty levels of the bosses in the Skinsaw Murders. I've heard that Ironbriar and the Skinsaw Man are somewhat easy (Ironbriar being a cakewalk for some) and that Xanesha at the end is nigh impossible for many parties. Mothman wrote:
Hmm... I do think Zon-Kuthon might fit with what I am going for. The fear could be a foreboding sense of possible loss... Perhaps Z-K's adherent spreads this fear not just through magical manipulation of the populace's minds, but also through the theft/destruction of priceless heirlooms... That would add the possibility that others (possibly some no-good Sczarni) are working with the Z-K priest. Unfortunately I was unable to get any of my PCs to be interested in Lavinia... The party cleric/ranger is involved with Liamae of the Jade Ravens, though. It will be interesting when she dies... Actually, it will be the second time in our years of gaming together I will have killed off his character's romantic interest. EileenProphetofIstus wrote: Don't mean to hijack the thread but I thought WOW was just a computer game. Is it also a pen and paper role playing game as well? If it isn't what are the minitures for then? Actually... Sword & Sorcery made a d20 Warcraft game, based on the Warcraft real time strategy computer game that WoW is based on, and then they updated it to be based on WoW. I've been kicking around ideas in my head for random Golarion adventures, and I thought a little adventure involving an adherent to some evil deity spreading a general sense of fear and dread across a town as an act of devotion to his deity would be a neat idea. However, I've encountered a stumbling block as to what evil deity has a portfolio that syncs up with the whole idea of Fear. Lamashtu seems close, but misses the mark as a god of true fear (for me at least), as her version of terror is more a sort of twisted madness and rampaging mutant creatures than an insidious, unknowable fear... Rovagug, unknowable as he is, is out as he is more about unstoppable, inhuman destruction than anything. Norgorber seems more interested in swift, silent death and whatever gains it will get you, so I'm not sure he would be interested in the idea of fear. I could be wrong, as not much has been said about him. Urgathoa is probably out, though not much is known about her besides the fact that she sponsors evil undeath cults... So that leaves Asmodeus and Zon-Kuthon... Z-K might be into spreading fear, what with his whole darkness schtic... However, he might be the least known of the evil deities by Pathfinder fans (I can't think of one reference to him in any module yet...). Asmodeus seems like he could use fear in order to scare mortals into following his idea of order, so he's a possibility... Anyways, sorry for rambling. The whole point of this thread was to ask if anyone has any ideas for gods of fear, or if the Paizo guys know of a god of fear (or if one of the "Pantheon of Many" espouses fear as an ideal). Well, first, remember to use the wildshape/aternate form/polymorph errata, as that will make things a little easier on you in the long run. Second, if you read the Minor Shapeshift feat, you'll realize that you do not gain any of the following abilities from it, all of which can grant a character access to the Warshaper PrC and count as granting a creature "a form other than its own": * Change Shape (Su)
The Minor Shapeshift power merely grants the character a simple bonus of some sort or a natural attack. It doesn't change the character's inherent form. I would require the character to actually be polymorphed to gain use of the Warshaper's abilities. Outside of the fact that WotC wants to charge for digital minis, even if they allowed you to load your own, I'm not a digital artist. So is MapTool pretty good? It looks interesting. Sweet! Looks like I might have get in on the chat action tonight! This might be a situation where you have to develop your own little story-line and the encounters to go along with it. There aren't many adventures out there for one character. However, you might be able to alter an existing adventure meant for 4 players into one meant for 1. You'd have to lower the levels of NPCs and reduce the amount of monsters in some encounters, but it shouldn't be impossible. James Jacobs wrote: ... but alas, there's generally more of a demand for psionic adventures than Epic adventures. And there's not a huge demand for psionic adventures. :-( I won't be brazen and ask for a psionic adventure, but can there at least be some sort of psionic flavor in Golarion, be it secret organization(s) or a far away nation of some sort? I'd like to have a reason for psionic PCs' existences... Psionics are one of my favorite things, especially with all the stuff Dreamscarred Press has put out. Hmm.. Based on some feedback of my group after discussing 4th Ed, I must change my stance on it. Instead of playing "Wait and See," I am now in the "3.5 for the foreseeable future" crowd. This changes my above position as follows: 1) No, I do not plan on converting to 4th Ed unless given a very good reason (i.e. 4E turns out to be 'all that and a bag of chips') 2) If you convert, it is highly probable that I will not buy your products if you don't keep them fluff-only or are able to convince me that you can somehow derail the trainwreck that is 4E. 3) If you do not convert, I will praise you as the saviors and continue to buy Pathfinder Chronicles books and adventures. Sean Halloran wrote: I think we all just need to sit back and wait to here what this brilliant plan is before we go and give this DM ways to screw over his players. Part of the fun of being a player is overcoming situations in creative ways and its bad form to try and ruin that fun. Savage Tide is probably the most heavily rail-roaded AP of the three and it doesn't take super smart PCs to go off track. 'Here There Be Monsters' is a perfect example of this considering there are probably 5 in-game, in character ways to skip that adventure that most PCs can come up with. Yeah, I had to convince my group that they didn't have the manpower or right situation to repair the ship... Without any knowledge of what the OP's tormentor is actually doing/planning, this thread reminds me of the time two of my players tried to tell me their characters were going to build a Faraday cage to get past some shocker lizards. Needless to say, I stopped that as soon as possible. Alas, it took a bit of convincing to get them to realize that a rogue and a scout (or whatever two classes they were playing) would have no knowledge of something that was invented on a different material plane at a time most likely in the future. 1) Even with all the stuff that has been put out, I still cannot say with certainty that I will convert to 4th Ed. I'm a compulsive buyer, which means I'd probably buy the 4th ed core books anyways, but my friends are somewhat skeptical about the whole thing so far, which casts a shadow on the possibility of me playing 4th Ed. Some of the things I've heard also lend themselves to make me second guess the playability of 4th edition. Personally, I like more realistic games than what 4th ed is being touted as... However, there is no way to know without seeing the rules themselves, and thus I must say that the jury is still out on the decision as to whether or not my gaming group will convert to 4th ed (or even try it, for that matter). 2. Truly, if Paizo can keep the flavor of D&D alive with (what seems to be ) the powergamer's dream game, then I would definitely try out their 4th ed products. I do not think, however, that Paizo should convert wholly to 4th ed until they find out whether 4th ed will sell well with their audience. At this point, it is hard to say (and with all honesty I do not think anyone should be able to make this decision yet) whether I will like or dislike 4th Ed, and thus I cannot predict what my purchasing pattern will be be after 4th ed comes out. It all depends on whether 4th Ed is clearly better than 3rd Ed or not. It not, well, there wouldn't be a reason to convert, now would there? 3. I can say for sure that I would continue to buy stuff from Paizo if they stick with 3rd Ed. ArchLich wrote:
Well I suppose that one could load a single acorn with the whole 20d6, or throw multiple acorns if he had a higher BAB (like throwing multiple vials of holy water or another splash weapon). There's also the fact that the fire seeds does EXTRA splash damage on top of the damage it already does. But you have to remember that only the direct targets of the acorns get no save. The other victims caught in the blast do get reflex saves. ArchLich wrote:
I require a material component of 100 gold for explosive runes in my games... It's an extremely abusable spell, especially with the amanuensis spell from the Spell Compendium. As for fire seeds vs. delayed blast fireball, DBF also has a max of 20d6. Also, the 100' thrown fire seed does grant a save to the victims of the area damage (just not the direct target) AND the damage must be divided among the seeds (which can be thrown only one at a time). Am I the only one whose first experience with kobolds makes all this "elite commando" stuff somewhat absurd? I remember playing 2nd ed and all the kobolds would do was yell "Get the shinies!" and attack en masse, yipping and yapping, sometimes running away to provoke us to chase them right down a hall filled with traps. There's the avariel from Forgotten realms.. they're winged elves. Then there's the raptorans, from Races of the Wild. They gradually get the ability to fly as they level up and don't even have a level adjustment (IIRC). There's also the aarakocra, from Dark Sun and Forgotten Realms (find them in Dragon 319 and Monsters of Faerun). The hadozee from Stormwrack are like sailor gorillas with the ability to glide. Nycter are little bat people (found in MM3). That's all I can find so far... Blue_eyed_paladin wrote:
Well I be damned... I never looked at the epic level stuff, but you're right. I found it in the SRD... The Everfull Purse is right there, alright. It's an artifact now, which luckily means players can't craft it. They also made it so it can only copy gold pieces, and no other coins or gems...
