Yeah.. that's probably why they got rid of Bucknard's Everfull Purse in 3rd ed... otherwise people could have the chance to get 26 100gp gems every day for free.
It appears to be a collection of optional rules for 3.5, instead of a total overhaul of the system (that would warrant calling it by a different name...)
Actually, the power points help you even without taking levels in a psionic class. Since you have them, you can take Psionic feats and maintain a psionic focus. Take a look at the Psionic Weapon line of feats in the XPH. They'd go pretty well with a fighter.
Hmm.. I don't think I'll be convinced until Rich Pett signs on for 4dventure. I mean.. who is this Logue guy, anyway? [;P]
I thought typing monkeys came only in infinite quantities and compose Shakespeare works...
Hmm... not sure how I feel about this... Though to be fair, the Underdark sourcebook (for FR), the Miniatures Handbook, and the Book of Exalted Deeds all came out in October 2003, just 3 months after the 3.5 PHB, DMG, and MM came out (July 2003). That November, the Complete Warrior and Draconomicon came out. Going back to 2000, the 3.0 PHB came out in August, the DMG came out in September, and the MM came out in November.. The first non-core rulebook, the Hero Builder's Guidebook, came out in December, followed shortly thereafter by Sword and Fist in January.
Rule #4
Challenge rating must equal X, where X is determined by this equation: sin(X)=3^X
Yes.. a smurf named Vizzini exclaimed it in "The Princess Smurf" (1987)
Inconsmurfable!!!

My smurf has been smurfed... O_O
You might try the amalgam template in the Advanced Bestiary by Green Ronin. That allows you to mix two monsters together if you really want a half-fiend jann/satyr. Otherwise, you'll be hard-pressed in your task of somehow combining two distinct monsters.
I really like that variant Diplomacy write-up by Mr. Burlew. I think I'm going to incorporate it into my next campaign (for which I'm planning on using the Iron Heroes system. In IH, skill bonuses can potentially be much higher than in D&D).
I've a question: How do the Conan mechanics compare to Iron Heroes (if you have any experience with that system)? Are the classes similar/different?
My suggestion: anthropomorphic carrion crawlers. That would be weird! Cthulhuesque, in a way...
To me, it looks much easier to run than the normal 3.5 suite of spell-like abilities. No flipping to the PHB to see what a spell does makes me a happy person.
Yup... even a 2nd level party usually has to scrape together money in order to buy a wand of CLW. For 1st level parties, such an item would be out of reach.
A grand map, indeed!!!! I love it!
ONE question, though. The inland lake/sea in the middle of the northern continent (Avistan, I believe) seems to be lacking a tag. Other than that, it looks pretty awesome to me.
Here's one DM who can't wait for the gazetteer!
Personally, my group never plays as half-elves or half-orcs, so this whole thing doesn't bother me that much. We sometimes use gnomes, so it's a decent consolation to hear that they'll be in the MM.
One of the most memorable player characters (in my mind at least) of any of the games I've DMed was a gnome sorcerer who was quite mad. He ended up starting a cult based on the worship of the god of cheese.
I'm particularly fond of my Paladin's Handbook for 2nd Ed. Twas the first splatbook I ever bought.

While I seriously expect WotC to have failed utterly in their claim to have reduced the Christmas Tree effect, there is one thing I would like to point out:
The idea of various body slots having affinities for certain bonuses and effects is definitely not new to 4E.
Examples:
DMG 3.5, Page 288:
Body Slot: Affinity
Headband, helmet: Mental improvement, ranged attacks
Hat: Interaction
Phylactery: Morale, alignment
Eye lenses, goggles: Vision
Cloak, cape, mantle: Transformation, protection
Amulet, brooch, medallion, necklace, periapt, scarab: Protection, discernment
Robe: Multiple effects
Shirt: Physical improvement
Vest, vestment: Class ability improvement
Bracers: Combat
Bracelets: Allies
Gloves: Quickness
Gauntlets: Destructive power
Belt: Physical improvement
Boots: Movement
It does seem, however, that slot affinities are a recent invention. I looked through my AD&D 1st and 2nd ed DMGs and couldn't find anything of the sort (nor could I find anything about designing your own items, as 3.5 does).
This is one of the reasons I did not sign up for the Chronicles subscription. I do, however, plan on getting all the Chronicles books eventually.
I've been looking at Iron Heroes as of late. That system (going under the assumption that the PCs will have no healing magic at all) incorporates a reserve point mechanic in which, given enough time to rest and such, the PC can spend reserve points to restore hit points. I picture it as the character taking a few minutes to catch his breath and whatnot. The system operates under the assumption that, before you hit 0 (at which point damage actually becomes meaningful), all the damage you've taken is in the form of small cuts, bruising, and the like.
EDIT: However, going back to the mention of the Star Wars Saga Edition, that system also has a Condition Track. If you take damage equaling or exceeding your damage threshold (equal to your Fort Defense) you drop one step on the condition track. This represents the character taking an actual wound that slows him down.
Interesting...
Yatta!
I thought they were vulnerable to smurfy iron...

I know the d20 Young Kingdoms book was drek compared to Stormbringer. Chaosium CofC is much better than d20 CofC, in my opinion (I own both). This coming from someone who started playing RPGs in 2003.
Will 4E be coming with Tiefling-themed Underoos?
Demonic is from the Fiendish Codex I: Hordes of the Abyss, and is reserved for demon princes like Graz'zt and such. There are no demon princes who offer the War domain, so you are pretty much out of luck.
Yoda!
Excellent!

Isn't it obvious?
Do you want it to be?

Personally, I've only had this problem in low level games. When characters get up to 14, 15th level and such, they have so many spells that you probably won't run out of them totally unless you're doing way more encounters per day than the game was designed for. Anyways, by that time, the cleric has probably run out of ways to heal the ability damage/negative levels that no doubt have been inflicted upon the party... you can memorize Restoration only a finite amount of times, of course (not to mention its material cost).

Haha! So he thinks we will deign to mince words with one whose grasp of the craft is so stunted he resorts to having all his characters running around, tugging on their mig-a-mugs and slipping in the gallons of blood coating every room of the module? I think not!
Oooh! Bard! Can't wait till Monday now!
^o^
((As an aside, I'm really looking forward to Blood of the Gorgon. Urban adventures are schweet!))
Indeed! I've bought into the Blood of the Gorgon just so I can prevent your putrescent, gag-inducing, tabloid-quality taint from corrupting any more innocent civilians' minds! Oh, I've also notified numerous conservative activist groups of your odorous presence!
PS: Sea Wyvern's Wake was 10x better than.. well.. whatever adventure you wrote for the STAP (which was so inane the title has slipped my mind!).
Wee! This is fun!
So, instead of writing torture porn, Mr. Logue could just write porn? I would be afraid to ask what the treasure tables would be...
In fact, I would be appalled! Shame on you, dirty Mr. Logue!!! The Styes are cleaner than ye!
My first thought was to go look for a couple of inbred ogres playing mig-a-mug tug :)
Just looked through HMM again... and found the jab at Vaughan and Pett :)
Page 30. An ogre who thinks himself a poet (Gragavan). The ogre uses the headless body of a simpleton ranger named Petter (whose poetry was even more puerile than the ogre's) as a bloody paintbrush to write poetry on the walls. LOL!
Hopefully Mr. Logue isn't really thinking of quitting... I'm sure many people, including myself, would be very disappointed.
My gaming group usually uses the title of the campaign to be played, so we don't get confused between each of the different ones going on at one time. So, for my Savage Tide campaign, I'll be like, "We'll be playing Savage Tide tonight."
Personally, I'd like to see things from the planes rather than actually going there in Pathfinder - at the moment, at least. There's just so much flavor to Golarion that it would be a waste to leave it behind for an AP before everything has been explored.
Very imposing!!! Can't wait to take a look inside that bad boy.
It's actually a level 4 spell.
