About Erosthenes

Erosthenes was born to the royal house of The Immortal Empire, the first son of the Emperors First Wife. He enjoyed learning and showed a talent for Magical and Arcane Arts. This was completely unacceptable to his father, The Emperor, who forbade him from pursuing his hearts desire. Erosthenes, being a dutiful son, strove to please his father and learned to fight with sword and lance; to ride and hunt, and to wench with the best of his friends. But his heart was not in it and he turned to learning about Magic in secret. The Court Magician, Sarkeen, saw the young man struggling and agreed to tutor him in the Magical Arts away from the prying eyes of the court sycophants and toadies.

Erosthenes grew in power and understanding of Magic. So powerful, did he become, that he began to rival the great Sarkeen. One day the Emperor discovered his first sons secret and went into a rage, and disowned him. Erosthenes left the Imperial Court and made his way in the world under a disguise, and powerful magics of his own design, to prevent others from locating him.

Erosthenes happened into the Green Dragon Inn, seeking shelter from the cold and a warm meal. There he saw a young Knight sitting by the fire warming his feet. The two struck up a conversation and became fast friends. The Knight and his retinue had been attending a Tournament, and welcomed the young mage into their company with open arms and great fellowship.
