Smite Spoiler:
Smite Evil (Su): Once per day, a paladin can call out to
the powers of good to aid her in her struggle against evil. As a swift action, the paladin chooses one target within sight to smite. If this target is evil, the paladin adds her Charisma bonus (if any) to her attack rolls and adds her paladin level to all damage rolls made against the target of her smite. If the target of smite evil is an outsider with the evil subtype, an evil-aligned dragon, or an undead creature, the bonus to damage increases to 2 points of damage per level the paladin possesses. Regardless of the target, smite evil attacks automatically bypass any DR the creature might possess. In addition, while smite evil is in effect, the paladin gains a deflection bonus equal to her Charisma modifier (if any) to her AC against attacks made by the target of the smite. If the paladin targets a creature that is not evil, the smite is wasted with no effect. The smite evil effect remains until the target of the

Healing kit (10 uses). Mule, bit and bridle. Experience: April 1 -- 250 xp Psych: He thinks people with power should always do their best for their community. He's somewhat bitter about how his local nobility did little for the common folk, but gladly collected taxes and accepted unearned admiration from them. He's just learning about his special connection with Iomedae, and still can't quite tell his family that while he still respects and reveres Abadar, he is no longer Ernesto's primary diety. History: Spoiler:
Ernesto was born and grew up in Coprus Ferry, a small village between Egorian and Westcrown in Cheliax. Third son of a peasant dairy farmer. Ernesto's dreamy nature and lack of talent for all things agricultural soon had him labelled as "useless" by his family. When his eldest sister contracted a wasting disease far beyond his family's resources to pay for a cure,
Ernesto was contracted as a servant to the local Abadaran temple. It wasn't slavery, but just barely. The only thing Ernesto got from the deal was an education. They taught him to read and write, to care for the sick and injured, to find useful planats. One day in the temple's small library, he found "The Stories of the Gods". The tales of brave Iomedae fired his imagination and idealism. Ernesto idealized the local sheriff. The man looked so bold in his gleaming breastplate and was well respected and much admired around town. But when a large bandit band attacked the town and looted the local temple, the sheriff and his men (who, to be just, were badly outnumbered) did nothing against the raiders. Everyone fled as best they could. After the panic, Ernesto searched the ransacked temple. In the temple's small library, the great holy books had been saved by the priests, the beautiful illuminated texts had been taken by the thieves, but some others, including "Stories", had been left behind. He gathered his favorite book from the floor and sat down to read, to comfort himself. The book opened quite naturally to the Deeds of Iomedae. The stories of the woman warrior again fired his imagination and he pledged himself to learn arms and use that skill to defend the weak and fight for justice. Campaign Notes: Spoiler:
Left town, accompanying Ara, the itinerant Arbiter of Abadar. Traveled east to Remesiana, port city and caravan trailhead. |
