Liberty's Edge

Well, first of all, belated happy Nowruz, GM!

About me: I live in France, and so am in the same timezone as you (will be working just outside of Berlin next month).

BASICS:
a) Experience in PbP: a lot (GM ing here a bit, ran a campaign for 4 years on rpol ; and playing too)
b) Character concept and class(es): Halfling Defender of Erastil (Divine Hunter Paladin, lvl 1)
c) Typical character quote, comment etc.: no idea yet, have not played her (she's a Defender of Nature, a Herborist... but I prefer to play the character a bit to get a feel for how she talks and such).

PFS:
1) Player name: Eric Collins
2) Character name: Inga
3) PFS#-Character#: 101218-20
4) Faction: Silver Crusade
5) Day Job: Profession Herbalist +4
6) Regular or slow speed for chronicle: Regular

Expectations:
- Expectation is that you post around 2-3 times per day.
I can post twice a day for sure, more than that most times

- If you know that you will not be able post for a while please inform all of us in advance.
Yes

- We will be using Google Slides for maps.
Works fine

- Please have your profile up to date based on the standard PbP format so that I can see your stats and your abilities.
Will update it this week-end

Thanks for running the game, and, whether I am in or not: good gaming!

Liberty's Edge

I will pass, but thank you, it's a very fun scenario.

A sort of peripheral question (sorry if it is too far from this thread): my GM take was that when the PCs crafted a rifle with UPBs during some downtime (I am talking SFS game) it came with a charged battery (I would have done the same w. bullets).
The rule I felt applied was the one stating that if you purchase the item it comes w. full clip or charged battery (and the cost in UPBs is linked to the full list price of the item).

Did I miss some rule?

Don't die.

More seriously: you probably will have already reported the games for which you accrued the GM credit, giving a PFS/SFS number (said character).
So, re. reporting, even if you did not apply the chronicles sheets since you were in a PbP game, the death occurs after they were accumulated, thus they are lost, useless pieces of paper in the Boneyard.

If you have a DM who says this cannot be done because you must own the item, then do not lend the item to the player without a reroll, give it to him.
Then that person owns it, and can use it.
And can give it - back - to you once it is used.

However, I have never seen anything saying "A reroll can only be used by the person who owns it" (though I mainly only looked those things up in the Guide and on the Perks webpage, but the only thing I remember seeing in all that is that if you own several, you can only use one).

Liberty's Edge

I have the scenario as well.

I easily average 12-15 posts a day when keeping up with a special.

What GM Hmm did not say, is that she normally posts more per day in a game, but that she reduces it to only 12-15 with a special.

Page 35 of the current PFS Guide (Season 9):
The choice of advancement speed is made at the beginning of every adventure.
So, as GM Sedoriku just stated: you declare what 'speed' you play in when you start, and can do as you wish re. mixing normal and slow.

Liberty's Edge

Hello all!
Here to add my little voice to the problem: I have GMed and reported two sessions of Incident at Absalom and did not receive any "tables of credit" for them.
I have received credit for other scenarios reported before, in between, and after.
Thanks for all the help and good work.
Fun gaming for all!

Liberty's Edge

A bit of a different issue, so sorry if this is not the place for it: I am not receiving the correct "tables of credit"for Starfinder Society games I DMed and reported.

I have 16 tables of credit, which corresponds to the scenarios reported so far.
But I never received credit for the two instances of running the AP (Incident at Absalom Station) that I reported.

I have scenarios credited before and after the the APs I reported.

Just wondering if others had the same kind of issue?

Liberty's Edge

A message to see if a VO can check out a PbP game on Myth-Weavers, please, and maybe get info' from the DM?

--> link <--

The game started w. the Aug' 25th Gameday VI session.
Actual gameplay starting on Sept' 1st).
No DM posting since Nov' 22.

re. retraining: it is not that expensive when you're no longer low level, and have never died (and thus have a lot of PPs), especially in CORE (ain't much to spend them on).
I spent 15 on one character to retrain 3 feats, 10 on another.
Even if you buy 4 or 5 wands, you still have over 30 PPs left at level 8.

Liberty's Edge

5: and you can purchase Boons from various factions, Boons that you access depending on your Tier (so level up the factions that have Boons you want)

Liberty's Edge

I can do 1-06 as of tomorrow night (I am GM-ing 1-05 at our local shop and will apply credit to my 702 and get it to level 3), but I do not mind waiting...

Hello all Starfinders who play in French.

Black Book Éditions, which is the French based official Paizo partner, launched a crowdfunding-prepurchase event for its translation of Starfinder into French, which is due in the 1st quarter of 2018.

Here is the ---> link <---.

I do not have any stake in this company, do not gain anything in any way by promoting this, and have no idea of the quality of their translation (but they have been the official French Paizo partner for several years, namely with Pathfinder), I am simply putting this here in case anyone playing in French can be interested by what seems to be a cheaper promotional offer of le CRB.

For those outside of France, I did see that they state they have partners to lower the delivery fees in Canada and such.

Liberty's Edge

Oh?! Cool re. 1-06!
(I pushed it to January in my tabletop schedule, to have more people at level, and am running 1-00 in its stead... might be able to play a lot of it! Excitement!)

Liberty's Edge

I am in both 1-04 and 1-05, so must pass on both.

My next search will be for the 1-06 whenever that comes around!

Liberty's Edge

I just started a 1-04 here, so must pass... but thanks!

My thanks that is above all other is to the one who is known here as Ilmakis.
And to the PFS community.

The terror attack in Paris, France, mid-November 2 years ago: 130 people were murdered in the cafés, streets, concert hall.

The first French PFS Convention was scheduled to start the next day.
The venue was closed, most people had to cancel their travel plans.
The Con' was off.

Then Ilmakis organized a game in his living room early the next morning.
With people arriving late for having gone to donate blood.
It was a game of sanity. A game where we simply were among friends. A moment of warmth in this sad craziness.

Then the community organized the day, meeting in game shops, people's homes, and running the multi-table special via text messaging.
The Con' was on.

To finish on a lighter note, on seeing Philippe Lam's post here-above, I'd like to thank him for the wonderful joy he often brings us... in death.
Virtual deaths that is.
He is, by far, our local record-holder in PC deaths!

@DM Livgin no way that I can make the decision to take ten or roll without bias
Maybe make a global RP decision: is your bard one to play it safe and take 10 whenever he or she can (which would seem to fit, given the trait) and you have the bard do that even when the player knows the DC will not be reached ; or the opposite: the bard loves to gamble with fate and always rolls (and you do so even when the player sees taking 10 would make the DC)...

Liberty's Edge

My first die roll was a nat' 20, and they say I rolled 10 more crits...
(it was a crit' that killed the Envoy)

Hello, so, it is Monday. What will the flavor of the week be? Vanilla, chocolate, green-Kasatha-marhsmallow? Oh, no: STRAWBERRY!

As promised: Strawberries!!!

6 slots:

- Zoey Strawberry
- Shifty
- Revvy Bitterleaf
- Magabeus
- ?

So, put your info' in the recruitment thread (your SFS# etc. / and what characters you want to play if there's a choice etc.).

I'll see how many open spots we have and then check if we have a couple spots for new SFS players.

(sharing some useless info' just because it shook me up: killed my first SFS character yesterday! Running Absalom Station tabletop, in one long session)

Liberty's Edge

Have a nice Thanksgiving Ilmakis!

Just a reminder of the rule Redelia reposted in the Discussion thread here (my bold):

The rule is that a character can only be in one game at a time. Playing a game with a pregen when the credit will go to a character is considered to be playing that character for this rule. GM credit is an exception to this rule. Mustering is not considered to be playing that character, so it's OK to list your character's details for a new game while an old game finishes up, as long as it is done before the new game starts.

Liberty's Edge

I killed my first SFS Character, so celebrated! (no, I really hate killing PCs...).

I organized a Gameday on Sunday and ran the SFS AP (took 11 hours of gameplay). But I had no tiara or cyber-eye (((

Liberty's Edge

Just FYI I ran Incident at Absalom Station today at our Gameday in one 11 hour session (counting from when it really started).
It probably would have been better with 30 mins' or 1 hour more, but was not rushed.
(just putting this here since I was not sure how long it would take)

Liberty's Edge

Anyone else here interested in 1-01 The Commencement ?

Liberty's Edge

Okay!
My two days of intensive work are done (and I ran 1-04 last night, very nice!), tomorrow I run the AP at our Gameday... and Monday I'll commence the Commencement

Liberty's Edge

Zakhar scowls, wondering if this fly is some witch in disguise, before taking a step to flank with... with this blob of green ectoplasmic goo that purports to be a Princess: more witchcraft, I will see about that once this mission is over.
He swings his bastard sword at the overblown fly, ready to cut it down to size.

Attack(bastard sword): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 (flanking)
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Liberty's Edge

Yes, I can probably run the Commencement, thinks Uncle Eric, always weak when rocket girl comes around.
Will see about that next week (running a Gameday Sunday).

Liberty's Edge

And to Jim too!

Liberty's Edge

I have played 1-1 Quest, 1-01, 1-02, 1-03 and should be playing 1-05.
Would thus be happy to play 1-04.

As I said, I do not mind DM-ing in PbP for no credit those I've DM-ed tabletop (DM-ing 1-04 tomorrow, and did 1-02, 1-03).

Liberty's Edge

Liberty's Edge

Hello all, and thanks for the invite!

I have DMed the 1-1 and 1-01's a whole bunch of times, and I have DM-ed or am scheduled to DM all the non- repeatables
(doing 1-04 Friday, Incident at Absalom Station Sunday, then 1-05 & Claim to Salvation early December).

But I do not mind DMing any of the scenarios in PbP for no-credit.

Character-wise: I have 7 PCs at 2 XP (from running all the 1-1 and 1-01's) ; and I'm advancing 2 PCs with credits from the scenarios (playing and DMing).

I'd be very happy to play from 1-04, 1-05 on...

Great program!

Liberty's Edge

Dataphiles!

(thanks for this)

Liberty's Edge

I am up for playing 1-04 !

Trying to play them a bit before running them tabletop...

I'll be offering them here in a bit (from 1-02 on)

Liberty's Edge

Thanks a lot for this guide!
(I am the main SFS DM for now in our part of the woods, so I have 8 characters to use up the DM credit, but the one I actually am playing turns out to be the Envoy, which is not what I would have thought)

So, at first glance I add my 2 cents that Inspiring Boost is very useful, at least in the games I've played at low level.
Since Get 'Em is a Move, I have used both in the same round several times (I am lvl 2).
And, when you are playing with 6 PCs, I find that at least 2, often 3, get hit in a fight, so that's 2 or 3 healing moves done per fight.
In general, when I heal the SP of someone, it lets them take 1 more hit in the fight and thus not go down on the 2nd or 3rd.

But, the main point I have is that I believe you are not accurately describing when to use it, let us see.

You wrote:
Otherwise, the fact that you must act the turn after they take damage
I feel that is not correct as I read the text from the CRB is:
As a standard action, you can signal an ally within 30 feet who has taken damage from any attack made by a significant enemy (see page 242) at any point after your last turn ended.
After "your" last turn ended, not his or hers.

Bobby the Bruiser is hit on the head by Milly the Monster, and loses xSP.
When Anna's turn comes (her next Initi', or taking her Delay) she can use Inspiring Boost.
If she does not use Inspiring Boost to heal Bobby then but does something else, she can no longer do it on her next turn, since Bobby will have taken the damage at a point before her last turn.

So...?

So, Hmm wears boots?!

Was wondering (stilettos, pumps, penny loafers, high heels, slippers...).
Now, what kind of boots: camping boots, hip waders, rubber rain boots...?

A teeny tiny man enters, barely visible. An easy Sense Motive roll lets you understand that this person is literally crushed by the immense pressure of having to take over a Hmm game.

Hello all, and saddened that Hmm's life is harsh right now. I hope things will get better, somehow, in the upcoming weeks.

I will obviously not measure up to the current GMing, but I will give it my best, and hope to at least offer you an enjoyable ride.
So that you know: I was getting ready to run this AP, thus it is no burden running this in itself, but a pleasure.

I will start looking into things today, and hope to finish by tomorrow (reading the AP, and all the posts and such).
So I'll aim to get posting on Monday
Note: I am in France, so post in Euro time. In general I always post 1/day (in my morning, which is between 10 pm East coat and after midnight West coast). I often post more often (a 2nd post in my evenings, nearly always).

I will make an Alias for SFS DM-ing.

So, I'll get to reading and prepping, and will get back to you.
Please tell me if there is anything special I should know.

Liberty's Edge

re. GMing PFS: I have just started GMing here, and though my focus is CORE, I am fine w. running games people want when I have the time, and hope to be able to do requests etc. (I am not going to be GMing PFS tabletop anymore, for a while, since I am running SFS now for tabletop ; which is what brought me here: to try and play at least a bit of the scenarios before DMing them)

My 2 cents on recruiting: It is up to the GM how he or she recruits. Each and every system has its drawbacks and advantages.

My 2 cents to your 2 cents, is that if there are a fair amount of GMs, and all do their own blend of things (lottery, FCFS, new players, friends...) it should mean that all players get a shot at getting in somehow.

Then all will never be able to even try to get into all the games, but should be able to get into enough games to have fun, or so I'd think.

Liberty's Edge

And there is 1-00 Claim to Salvation as well.

Liberty's Edge

I know people who want to play a Wizard but will do their first level as a Barb' w. power attack to get to level 2 "easier"... my personal take is that this is not using the rules as they are intended.

Otherwise, when DMing for new players, I often push them to play with 3 different PreGens (Kyra, Valerios, Merisiel...) to get a taste for totally different play styles.
