DyerTM wrote:

Maybe this has been answered already, but do these new character decks supersede the original character add-on deck?

Thanks

No. They are completely different.

The character add on deck(s) is specifically designed to tie to a base set, adding a 4 new characters (with a couple of nice cards designed for them) and a bunch of basic cards to allow the set to cover a fifth & sixth character. There is a Rise of the Runelords one for the RotR base set, a Skull & Shackles one for S&S etc. All the cards are designed to be in from the beginning.

The class decks are primrially for organised play, but can be used for other forms of play. Each deck has 4 characters of the same class, with similar but different abilities. They have cards for all levels of the game (basic & 1-6), allowing you to build a full character from it.

I have to assume that this is a better weekend overall for Paizo. Bigger venue, extra day, more time between PaizoCon and Gen Con. It makes sense overall.

But personally, it's more than a little frustrating as it conflicts with three large cons in the bay area, including KublaCon. It's going to be a real bummer for the local PFS crew.

How far is this new hotel from the SeaTac Marriott, where Paizocon has been previously held? I'm a Marriott rewards member, so I'm inclined to stay there rather than at the Doubletree if it's close enough?

Google Maps reckons 18 minutes

Hilton's HHonours reward scheme can be configured so that it feeds it's points into another scheme, including Marriott. Obviously if you're at the point of getting active benefits from enough stays, then it's might not be worth it, but as far as the pure points are concerned it should be a wash.

The problem with this is that the moderators won't necessarily know that the translation matches to the non English bit of speech.

I am also pleased to see that the kids track went well!!

Given the table to player ratio there (5.9187 players per table) that it's raw players for each session, rather than unique players - it also makes sense as you would only be able to tell people apart once you entered all the table reports, which isn't something that's going to happen in the couple of hours since the show closed...

Weird how they chose to make us wait 2 and a half months for this product instead of releasing it either this month alongside ACG or in September. I'd rather they switched September's Player Companion with this one.

Doing it in October meant they had two months with the book locked down, so they could have a decent amount of time to make sure everthing in here worked with the ACG.

Also to give the design team the time to work on it.

Actually, they've said that although the generally do do about half traditional, half experimental, it's not actually a strict alternation, and both GS and HR are going traditional given the run of RoW (planet hopping/fairy tale, so experimental) WotR (mythic, so mechanically experimental though the plot was traditional) Mummy's Mask (traditional, but outside medieval fantasy) and Iron Gods (all the crazy) means that the traditional story lovers have been missing out for a while.

Also given the middling chance of the post HR one involving Vuda and psychic magic, worth stocking up before going off piste again.

This happens sometimes (rarely, but sometimes)

At the printer, they run off 8 page spreads in one piece, then cut them up & assemble them automatically. Sometimes the machine pulls the wrong set of pages.

Look's like you're already on the way to sorting this - best plan is to go to your seller & ask for an exchange (they will be able to push it up the chain)

If they won't exchange, get in contact with customer services here, they should be able to help.

↬If you want to add anything to this subscription order, you have until the authorization date to add it to your sidecart. If it is after the authorization date, make sure you choose to ship with the pending order number.
↬If you add an item to a pending subscription order and the added item has a "should ship from warehouse estimate of 4-11 business days or longer, your subscription shipment will wait until that new item(s) arrive before it can be shipped. This may delay your subscription shipment!
↬If you need to make changes to the payment method or shipping address, you can make changes to the subscription until the authorization date, if it is after the authorization date, double check the changes applied to both the pending order and the subscription.

So, please pardon my ignorance here, what is a sidecart, and what does it mean relative to pending orders?

I ask because I'd went ahead and ordered the ACG last month ahead of time, figuring it would ship with Iron Gods 1, but now I see one has processed but the other hasn't.

In the future is there a better way for me to do this? Some specific form to follow when placing orders?

Thanks in advance for any advice / clarification, and if this is too specific to myself I apologize for not splitting off.

Your sidecart is the bit of the system that contains anything that is awaiting shipment with your next subscription shipment - It works for thing you order between subscriptions, or non subscription releases due at the point of your order.

Normally, when they generate the subscription orders, the system goes to your account, and looks at your subscription. It picks out one of each item your subscribing for, and then checks your sidecart for anything that it can send out this month.

The problem this month seems to be for some of us, it hasn't done that 'look in sidecart' stage.

Following Sara Marie's advice, best to start a new thread here to highlight it to the team so they can fix the error.

So I'm confuzzled. I decided to subscribe for the first time for this book. When is it going to ship for those of us not going to Gencon? We get the PDF when it ships, right?

It's also worth noting that you will get an email towards the end of this week. It'll start 'In the next few days...'

This is not your shipment email. It is the authorisation email. It lets you know that they will be taking money soon, so you can get your ducks in a row. It will also involve them checking with your bank that your card/account is still valid.

Sometime you will get another email. This is when your shipping label spits out of the warehouse printer. At this point, your order is final (although will probably not be in the actual box). You will be charged, but you will also have access to your PDFs. Your package may take a bit to get packed, picked up & into the shipping network, but it will be making it's way along that pathway.

If you contact Customer services (details at the bottom of the screen), you can ask for your subscriptions to be suspended. Then once your back from Gencon, you can ask them to un suspend them. It will bring back all the items that were generated in the period of your suspension. It would probably move you to the end of the queue though - likely not going out until after the 22nd

Sara Marie wrote:

And thus the usefulness of the feedback thread! I will make sure to coordinate with Mike Brock next year to make sure expectations on when to show up for PFS games are consistent and included in the on-site program book.

For what it's worth, I don't think Mike was the one switching around times. He told me that the time on the ticket would be fine when I asked him what table, so I think he would have been in the same boat I was if he had been wanting to play that table.

What you need is a hard and fast rule on when mustering starts, and when it is assumed a ticketed player will not be showing up. It's all well and good to start mustering as early as possible, as that will get tables started more promptly. But seeing as my table was Table #1, I'm assuming that those guys were wanting to get started and, when a sixth man showed up and asked if he could get in (and I still hadn't showed up) the people doing the mustering said to start. When I was trying to figure things out they were still trying to seat other tables (the largest numbered tables, of course).

Ticketed people should be given until the start of the slot, at the very least.

If I may be so bold: a sign should be posted at the muster location saying when mustering will start for the next slot, and another sign stating when un-ticketed players will be seated. Communication can't be screwed up, that way.

I'm pretty sure that Sara-Marie wasn't implying tha Mike was responsible for the problems, more that he is the mos appropriate person to determine what consistent line should be.

Starting now, you can also go to your My Subscription page and select subscription pick up at Gen Con.

So presumably, people wanting to start with the add-on deck need not do anything until August 1st?

Correct.

I thought, for the people that have current subscriptions, if they wait until August 1st, the system will be ordering the Base Set for them as of the 31st of July (the day before).

So if they want to start with the character add-on deck, they don't need to contact support and can instead wait until the 1st of August, then?

Or did you mean that people can cancel their subscriptions and then re-subscribe on the 1st of August and have a selection to start with the add-on deck?

In order to skip any item in a subscription, you need to cancel your subscription. The starting with the add on deck is just that, starting.

If you have all first printings, you should try to get a first printing of deck six. Although there are variations on the back printings, that's been true for all first printing decks, so if you're not noticing it on your present stuff, you shouldn't have a problem with this deck.

If you're not able to find a first printing, it shouldn't matter massively. I've received a second printing of Spires, opposed to my first printing of everything else. The tab is a bit longer, but doesn't affect closing the box. At present I haven't used any of the sixth deck in anger, and I (clear) sleeve all my cards, but my initial checks don't seem to have allowed me to track the differences.

A few extra chairs along the walls, if needed, but otherwise 7 at each table is enough.

Oh, and I was disappointed about one thing from the banquet: I heard that the previous 2 years, those who bought tickets for it got early access to the Paizo Game Space. No mention of that at all this year, though. That made me a sad panda.

If I remember correctly from lasst year, the extra chairs were in place to cover the Banquet, which needed sufficent chairs to be in place to maximise the peopel in there.

As for Gamespace, I believe that the fact that it was covered at last banquet (the year before was a case of "we've got this developing, we'll need you to test " and it taking a year to get to that testing bit) was due to the amount of beta testers that they though reasonable.

However, check your PMs!
