Hi guys,

I've recieved the above order, but unfortunatley, it looks like there was a slight packing error. Instead of the Liberty's Edge pin, there was a Grand Lodge one.

Also, bravo. Tup is everything you'd expect from a goblin pyromaniac.

Dark Archive

So just picked up Tup for free RPG day, and I've got a question

details hidden to keep your suprise:
Deliverance is Tup's sheep cohort. He has two powers:
'Display this card to move, then shuffle it into your location deck. You may not play this card during an encounter'

'When you would banish this card from a location deck, you may add it to Tup's hand instead.'

Being a cohort, there is no check to aquire.

My question is, when you encounter Deliverance, what happens?

My guess is, that you effectively fail to aquire Deliverance as there is no way to succeed), it is banished and thus goes to Tup's hand, but that was a guess as I don't believe that there's been a card yet that doesn't have a check to aquire in a location deck, at least not without a scenario rule to protect it.

A small side question - do dead characters have hands? If Tup is dead, can deliverance go to his hand and then allow his body to ride off to another location?

Tiering is as much about options rather than raw power. And there's nothing that says options like, say, the Planar Ally spells.

I think the more accurate term is that Mythic wasn't received well, at least as a full play form. Just look at the Wrath boards for the stories of abandoned games.

To be honest, not very interested in most of these things. Giantslayer was a "traditional AP" and it wasn't well received. This sounds like more of the same.

The three hardcovers don't speak to me, either, unless the Encounter Codex is more of an encounter design book, instead of just a bunch of sample encounters. Horror encounters are iffy with the Pathfinder PC power scale, since monsters you can just smash are not very terrifying.

Strange Aeons is something I *will* get, though. I have the same concerns there, too, though, as with the Horror Adventures book.

From the core description of Ironfang I was the same, but when Crystal went into detail I was much more enthused - twisted fey, Vault builders, the lower levels of a sky citadel, a pocket dimension

Where do the stationary Luddites go for information?

Above blog post gives the highlights, if you look back at my Twitter feed (here) you should be able to get a few more bits that I did live. You don't need to sign up for Twitter or follow me to read. The format isn't brilliant as it's my running timeline, but I'm still away, and although I've tried to use Storify to reformer my tweets into a permanent form, their tablet site version is... Less than optimal, at least without paying for the upgrade.

In order to allow you to subscribe, there are a few things that need to be in place;

1 the book will need to have a product page, this will need stuff more defined - page count is still apparently fluid for example

2 the subscription benefits will need to be defined

3 the subscription will need to be programmed & launched

As a point of comparison, the Horror Adventures product page went up on January 30th, so that would be a guideline. It might be earlier as it's a brand new line, but it might also be slightly later because of details being uncertain.

What is secured is that it Will be developed by Rob Mcreary, who is part of the core Starfinder team along with James Sutter and Owen KC Stephens

That brings a question, then: Whose side are the PCs on? Given the strong preference for Chaotic Good among the devs and such, I assume the AP will lean more towards Nirmathas, Molthune possibly aiding and abetting the hobgoblins as oppressors are wont to do. That said, I've been waiting for this area to receive more attention for a long time!

Also...darn. I may have to adjust my hypothetical Second Darkness character (half-elf who joined Molthune's army to spite his elven daddy and whose unit got massacred Teutoberg-Wald-style, forcing him to run away and become a shell-shocked mercenary) to play in this AP instead...

from the summary, the hobgoblins are more Kill All Humans. The AP will start in Nirmathas, but it sounds like your character would work really well- it'll be a case of being thrown together in chaos, so a former Molthuni solider seems likely to generate a great dynamic

As the person responsible for some of those tweets - new AP was announced at the AP q&a . It is the Iron Fang Invasion, where some Hobgoblins use an artefact to invade along the Nirmathi-Molthune Border to take advantage of the trouble there. I'll not spoil that much here, but it won't resolve the border issues, in fact it will probably make things worse

I would note that this should actually refer to characters, rather than players. If you are playing on your own, it is probably wise to run at least two characters, as there are challenges that can completely stop single characters.

The bit in space is a problem, but this looks like it's an exact copy of the sea borne version of the ability, where the effects, although not specifically spelt out should be pretty obvious - you won't be able to move, as your motive force won't be available (your sails would be under water, your oars wouldn't. Everyone & everything below deck would be on the ceiling, and everything and everyone on deck would be underwater. If you had an open hatches, being underwater is a state that will reach the other decks pretty quickly...

Sloth probably works better if you're not having a villain per se, but a cultural antagonism - the decaying kingdom sort of thing. It's not necessarily going to be a campaign that ends with a showdown with a BBEG, but it could be something that generates a whole slew of plot hooks.

Actually, would it be possible to cancel the t-shirt? One of the big reasons for ordering it was to have an additional bit of Paizo clothing for Paizocon, but since it won't now arrive before I'm there, it's probably not worth it.

Are there any convenient forms of public transportation (or hotel shuttles) to get to more interesting parts of Seattle?

This will be my first time in Seattle, and i'd like to see some of the sights and not spend my entire weekend inside a hotel.

There is! A Rapid Shuttle runs most of the day up the main thoroughfare (International Blvd?) in front of the hotel. About two stops north (or a 15-20 minute walk) is the SeaTac Light Rail Station. You can take this into Seattle; it's a ~35-40 minute trip into the city. This is a quick and easy way to get downtown, which has Pike's Place & the Wharfs in terms of most readily accessible touristy things. I'd also recommend the EMP Museum, which is a bit further into the city and a walk or short taxi ride. Admission is $22 online/$25 at the door not including any special exhibits they may be running that include an upcharge. I found it very worth it when I went last year and spent a good 2+ hours there.

Getting up to the sky needle & EMP the monorail is a bit of good fun.

The Underground tour is excellent.

Writing one of the adventures is freelance and not done on the clock. Crystal simply had too much on her plate to tackle writing the volume that I asked her to write. As for her developing, she is developing the (unannounced) Adventure Path after Strange Aeons.

Ah sorry - that was why I put the 80% figure on it - I knew that Crystal was developing one of the upcoming APs, and thought it might be related to that.

It might be traffic, but it's more likely that Paizo's card payment system is extremely strict on matching your address to the bank's address - capitalisation can sometime throw it off. Worth checking what your bank have and make sure that everything is the same.

I would make a distinction between Summon Monster and Raise Dead.

Summon monster while has the [evil] descriptor, I would argue is not "that" evil. Especially since you have full control over the summoned.

Raise Dead (etc.) on the other hand, is explicitly evil because creating undead is Evil (with a capitol E). If I had a wizard (or summoner) in my game that summoned demons with SM, as long as they don't exclusively summon evil creatures (not counting fiendish lions etc.) that player would not experience any drift. That same wizard creates undead more than once or twice, I would first give them a warning, and if it continues, I would have their Alignment shift to N then NE.

I believe above should read animate dead

Animate dead = create zombies/skeletons. Leads to create undead

Raise dead = bring someone back to life. Leads to resurrection.

Just picked this up, looks good so far, but I noticed a slight slip from copy-pasting the generic archetype description:

Also has anyone figured out the double bed situation? It's less the cost than the weirdness of having two beds in the same room and not needing them. Will the hotel at least let you add someone to the room later if you find someone to share with? I'm not categorically against doing so but I don't know anyone locally offhand that can afford to go and would want to. If that changed it would be nice to add a person.

The light rail runs from central Seattle straight to the airport, from the station it's a 5 minute walk to the station

There is no Con save. A "constitution-based save" just means the save DC is based on the attacking creatures constitution score. There is only a Reflex save.
So then a party member would roll d20+REF Bonus and compare that to the creature's CON score?

Dude it has been explained, if you still don't get it after dragonhunterq's explanation I just don't know. The whole phrase in the stat block it is just not that important unless you fiddle with the stats of the creature.

The most important thing is that when the golem uses it's ability the characters affected make a reflex save. The DC of that save (inother words the number they need to roll including their reflex mod) is 14. Period end of story. That's all you really need to know unless this is some unique variant of the monster you are creating (which I doubt).

To sum it up:

step 1 golem uses it's splintering ability.
step 2 characters roll 1d20 and add their reflex modifier.
step 3 compare their score to 14. If it is equal or higher they take half damage, if it is lower they take full damage.
step 4 roll and apply damage.

Generally, you can ignore the mention of "constitution- based" unless you're messing about with the creature's stats.

if you were to change the creature such that it had a con score other than -, 10 or 1 it would change the save.

All consumable items (wands, scrolls, potions etc.) are presumed to be a minimum caster level to cast that spell. Since displacement is a 3rd level spell, a wizard casting it would have to be 5th level, so use 5th level for any level dependant elements, like duration.

It counts as the spell in every way so anything that stops displacement would do it. Glitterdust doesn't stop displacement though - the image 2 feet away would just be covered in the dust. You need true seeing or something else that gets through total concealment to negate the displacement.
