Nice though Righteous Fury works differently in this game.

Righteous Blurb:

250
VIII: Combat
RIGHTEOUS FURY

When rolling Damage after a successful attack, if any die rolled
results in a natural 10 (rolling the 10 result on a 10 sided die),
a particularly bloody and spectacular hit may be inflicted (this
also includes a result of 10 when rolling 1d5 for Damage). After
resolving the effects of the hit, one of two things may happen.

If the attack dealt Damage after being reduced by Armour and
Toughness Bonus (see Step Five, below), then the shot becomes
more severe. The attacker then rolls 1d5 and consults the Critical
Hit Table appropriate to the Damage type and location of the
original attack. The target suffers all effects listed. However, the
target does not count as having suffered a Critical Hit. In other
words, if he takes Damage during later Turns it will affect his
Wounds, not directly stack onto worsening critical effects. Talents
that modify Critical Damage (such as Crack Shot and True Grit)
do not modify the critical effects generated by Righteous Fury, and
these critical effects do not stack if a target suffers Righteous Fury
multiple times. Each roll is applied as a separate effect.

Alternatively, if the attack does not do any Damage once
reduced by Armour and Toughness Bonus, then the attack Deals
1 point of Damage, not reduced by Armour or Toughness. This is
the extent of the Righteous Fury effect for this attack; the victim
does not suffer a roll on a Critical Hit Table. This represents some
weapons simply not being potent enough to deal major Damage,
but still able to do harm through a “lucky hit.

Good news both of the effects crit, bad news is they don't TECHNICALLY do more damage just could make them for example drop their weapon ( Which is good).

As for Pete how far is the fight between Jack and the Brute from Pete? I'm considering whether I want him to Charge, double move or shoot from where he stands. I need to known the meters to decide on which.

I will likely taking the ranged option.

Checking in, Redelia wished to express you all needing a Rogue-like or Ranged Martial. I have the determination to take either role though Im not fully sure about what is available as far as Dreamscarred Press is concerned.

I have a plethora of ideas but I want to know my limitations as you will. I'm currently reading through the gameplay and Discussion Threads as we speak to better know the party.

So far Im thinking some variation of Sand Kineticist Chosen of an Old God.

Yeah it is unfortunately an issue of bad editing. It seems to flow into the ability text and thus get missed by almost all of the sites and guides that read over the abilities. So as MUCH as an Empiricist Investigator with Sleuth MAKES SENSE. It by the rules cannot be done. Though the trade is completely unbalanced.

With that mindset (Jingasa = Fate's Favored + jingasa) it would be like Paizo nerfing lay on hands, Channel or spells because Fey Foundling made dice healing 'too good'

It basically makes no sense as that is not a product of the healing but of the feat, which is only effective if diced healing is applied to you.. which only helps early-game and for Paladins ( And Paladin-like offshoots... like Warpriests) keep their ability to heal worth it late-game.

One simple piece of advice is to take down the key stats of each player when they level up and make it clear no character can have 5 higher in AC, to hit, max save, Spell DC etc than the next best player. That prevents combats that unfairly challenge everyone else but one character is able to cakewalk.

Set this expectation out right from the start, so that he can focus on optimising choices rather than sheer power. You may need to tinker with this if he is playing a fighter in a party of sorcerers or if he has several abilities that allow him to boost these core stats (arcane accuracy for instance).

It's a simple solution that doesn't penalise him retrospectively.

I have to point this out. If you take any advice DO NOT take this one. It is one of the worse things you can do as it basically sets the limit at the worse possible player and makes them have control over others while penalizing anyone who uses a modicrum of intelligence differently. A Fighter should not be within bounds of a Magus nor should a Monk to say a Evocation focused wizard.

A Paladin Will have outstandingly better saves than a Rogue, the examples go on. DONT DO THIS.

There is no such thing as flavor over power. Some of the most 'flavorful' choices are also powerful as all get out. [Insert Video of Angel Summoner and BMX Bandit]

Don't be a dick should be always prescribed but suddenly placing focus on one player is quite noticeable and may not make the best response. Whatever rules that are made should be universal, if people dont want to amp up for combat, then they will look inferior and accept that, if he doesnt want to do the same in RP situations the same will be true.

Its not even hard to be powerful in comparison to someone else and if you go the banning route it will end up something along the lines of " Alright you can play Base Fighter, Rogue and Monk " because anything else would cause a rift due to capabilities.

As far as advice, make sure you are well versed in the rules so that issues can be solved quicker, have any house rules established beforehand, do NOT adjust damage as it is very easy to figure out. Get on him about loopholes and 'abuse' . Simply ask what books a feat, spell or ability comes out of so you are aware anytime anyone wants something.

Certain ammo and items are still an issue because of rarity limits, do not forget that. So far they havent had armor so it hasnt been a problem. For Pete he has a sword and a shotgun which usually will hit multiple times in the body. Avg of 6 successes.

Its a good tactic but requires kinda what I'm doing now, one suppresses and sees if it works then people regroup move up. Another does similar so the first can move up. Get better angles and stuff like that. man... My luck is going to roll bad eventually.

If anyone would like a More in depth explanation.

Pete's plan basically works out like this. We know the target is 100m from here.

Pete is also very aware it may be a trap, and is relying on that fact. Any place but the path will create an unneeded amount of noise and thus alert them. However, likely what they did not plan for was someone like Mark to be able to sneak through the brush without alerting them. The path will obviously be watched.

We will activate the trap on our terms, Jack and Bob are hearty and can take a hit much like Pete. Doing so will alert us to their presences assuming we do not find them first. Worse happens, Anna is there to bring up the rear and do on site medical aid. Pete is also there to create covering fire/finish the job otherwise. While that happens Mark can gather intel/sneak up close to point out the rest of the enemies possible positions. Shoot from the brush/trees flanking them from another position with Pete and Jack. Roger covers the back line, having a shorter range but preventing our group being snuck up on and proper coverage.

Distance wise I see it like this. Jack up front near the clearing, Pete 5m behind him, Mark off to the right in the brush 10m from Pete advancing, Anna and Roger 10m behind Pete. Anna and Roger 6 m from each other on opposite sides of the path.

Huh. So my duo is Quiet (me) and Slow (her). In this case though, slow is described as:

Yes, it literally is required to be any type of good with a Kineticist and is built into the class as such. This is why we complained about an Expert with Bow > Kineticist and why Overwhelming Soul was basically trash. It is expected. This is how they 'balanced' having Con as a stat to 'cast'

I agree, this is a talking situation. Now while I normally would say Evil doesnt necessarily mean disruptive, this particular character seems to be doing so solely for that reason.

Im not so sure on pulling it off. Suddenly NOT using Enlarge Person when it gives you reach, Str bonuses and a Bigger axe, when that was your go to is very VERY noticeable. The same can be said of dropping armor but not casting shield. As I said these are noticeable and do not assume the players are not adults. We as humans make note of extreme changes. It would be the same if the Wizard known to Fireball things.. suddenly cast Burning hands... because.

I'll give you the full story in another post, i just wanted to get this idea out separately from that.

So are you saying the other pet classes, including the big poster child Druid, were fine in comparison?

If so that is being disingenuous. The reason being that comparatively it and the Summoner had real similar areas of expertise. However the Druid has Divine Spells and 9th level casting along with more spells.. and the Summoner had a better pet and some arcane spells ( Other spells they had to access with summons or Gate/Planar Binding )

If you say the Eidolon or Spell List was broken, the same could be said about the Druid and has been. The real reason was kneejerk reactions and legacy protection. People don't bat an eye at the Druid because its always been there, like the Wizard. However , every time something new comes in and does something similar or better in a specialized area, there is rave and rants.

Here's a fact Both Summoners and Druids have obvious selections that can wreck face with minimal effort and still do whatever they were on top of it. Druid tended towards Big Cat, Dinosaurs, Flying pet.. Summoner was Pounce Beast, Big hit Guy or Shiva-expy. This wasnt new, Druid was doing it before a long time ago. Druid had Spells like Strong Jaw and Animal Growth.. Summoner gets Haste and the Evo Surge line of spells.

The issue now is.. you can still very much do that now its just restricted behind flavor for no reason and forces things you might not care for. Druid still gets to do what it was doing. Instead the UnSummoner could have been an expansion on options and cool things you could have done with your Summoner instead of this travesty they have currently.

True, but swashbucklers can get dex to hit with one-handed piercing weapons. Since Slashing Grace lets you treat a longsword as a one-handed piercing weapon, you'd get dex to hit and damage when wielding a longsword.

So what I'm hearing is this is piazo's way of increasing pro-multiclassing views, they force you to have to take a level of Swashbuckler.. to do anything.

And even then you cant do it with more than one hand... And lord help you if you use your other hand to buckleswashes or.. pull out a potion.

I know in my local PFS scene many, many characters were created with a one level Swashbuckler dip, and the amount of Dex-to-damage builds increased practically exponentially.

Those builds, comments, and questions made their way here to the forums where the Design Team was able to see the impact of what they had wrought.

Just like the original Warpriest playtest goes to show, when the majority of players quickly choose one option over others, it's a pretty good sign that option is out of balance with the rest.
