SGG,

I am curious what the status is with future DaD availability. Are you planning PDF/print compilations? Any options for website access? Or purchase of the entire website as a download?

I would love to have an option to access the website, perhaps at a lower subscription cost, to maintain the website costs (server, domain, etc).

Anyway, just curious.

Hello,

I would like to randomly generate a small town's market square. I'm thinking mundane items and merchants. Does know of any cool products that help with this?

Thanks in advance!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Hello All,

I have a player who is playing a 1st lvl inquisitor. He has never played one, nor have I ever GMed one. He is an experienced player, though he is having a challenging time finding his groove with the class.

Any experienced Inquisitors out there who could offer advice on their approach to playing the class in general, and specifically playing the class at the low levels?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

How would I go about showing the RSS feed on my own website? I have a gadget that will show the feed's entries, but I do not know what url to use for the Blog, Store, News, and Messageboards.

Help!

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Will Paizo be offering any sales on CyberMonday this year?

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Hello,

I may be losing my mind, but I remember reading about some group(s) dedicated to Aroden. Does anyone know where that is?

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Website gurus,

I was curious where one could recruit for an online campaign that is not play-by-post?

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Hello all,

How do you go about figuring out which players will fit with your style of play? In other words, what is your recruiting process like? Do you do a face-to-face interview? Have them write a character background? Run a scenario and decide afterwards?

I always have trouble with this point in the process, because I am loathe to start the official campaign and then make cuts based on incompatibility.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I have only read the first two installments, but I wanted to mention that I think it is a great read. It manages to capture the feel of late 19th, early 20th century writing, which is perfect for the whole AP. Kudos Wes!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I would really like to see ethnicity listed in Golarion products for all NPCs where appropriate.

Thank you.

This thought process is focused on the approach, not the content. These thoughts have been percolating for a while, and various forum posters have helped me to bring them into focus. I encourage everyone to offer feedback.

I think the approach to APs should be more tightly focused on a specific PC approach to the AP as opposed to the idea that APs should be for "everyone." For example, SD written as if the PCs were elven and part of the secret group (don't want to spoil the name). Then, sidebars could be presented if players wanted to go a different route.

There are two main reasons for my claim: 1) the material would be more focused and rich due to laser-focus, and 2) As a GM, it is easier to come up with general ideas then the laser-focused ideas. Moreover, the focused ideas would offer plenty of material that could be poached if a different approach is taken.

Making the APs for "everyone" seems to make it so that no matter the approach of the group, the GM will end up making up a bunch of material to accommodate the specific approach of the group. Naturally, a GM will have to do that anyway to offer a unique experience, but having a really tight and specific approach by the AP authors is a real boon and GM lifesaver.

In review, a subtle shift from "everyone" to one specific approach (ie all elven party, members of a particular group, etc)

Just some thoughts.

Note, I really enjoy the APs, and if there were never any major changes I would still be happy with the quality and direction. I'm just looking at offering some alternative ideas in the fringe areas.

Kieran ftw!!!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I would love to see an extensive random encounter generator for Absalom.

That is all.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

What are ways you physically add the errata to your rulebooks? Just looking for some optimal ways to do it.

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I don't have anything informative at this stage, but I do want to say that I respect the whole approach to this idea. Thanks.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Sounds like a great event! I wish I could have been there. I love the idea of unique promotional elements for folks that can actually make it. Very cool!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Hello,

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle movement where Fly is concerned? How do you do it? Its use always seems to wind up in a geometrical discussion.

Just curious.

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I have been reading this journal in SS, and I have to say I think Robin has hit one out of the park. Very well written! As a GM, I look for the fiction to give me the 'feel' of the area, and this really does that. Kudos!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Hello GMs,

I am planning to start GMing PFS scenarios, and I was wondering what other experienced PFS GMs look for when reviewing character sheets at the beginning of a session? Are there particular things that jump out at you when they are obviously way off?

I'm assuming you do not go through every calculation? Just wondering what your typical review would amount to when you sit down to GM a session.

Thanks!!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I have a player who is a kind of rules lawyer, who think that the alchemist is over powered compared to the core classes. He sees a 1st lvl Alchemist with what he takes are a number of small "fireballs" per day.

Personally I think they are just fine, but I'm not really a rules heavy person. I was curious if there are other experienced alchemists out there who could offer suggestions on how to allay his fears?

Thank you for any assistance.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I want to give a shout out to Stephen Radney-MacFarland. He was thrown directly into the lions' den (ie. public playtest) right from the get go, and as such has taken a bit of beating. Design and customer service are two different arts, and navigating the two is quite the challenge.

Kudos to you for being both brave and professional. It is noticed, and appreciated. Keep up the good work.

Best.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Community,

I am DMing my first dragon, a young adult red dragon. Any advice?

Question: Am I correct in assuming that he receives a -8 (Poor-4, Huge-4) to his Fly skill? That minus IS NOT incorporated in his Fly skill? I'm thinking maneuverability is going to cause trouble.

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Community,

Any suggestions of a "average" APL for an optimized group? I'm thinking that their average is probably the equivalent of challenging. Should it be hard? Or even epic? Anyone have any experience with this particular topic and found a particular APL to be appropriate for an optimized group?

Thanks for your thoughts.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Pathfinder GMs,

I have only GMed a few scenarios, and am looking for advice. How do you start each scenario? Do you have a set talk that you give? If so, will you share? I want to craft a tight intro piece, which I can utilize at the beginning of each scenario, prior to digging into the actual scenario, but I have yet to land on what I want.

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I realize that the FAQs haven't been rolled out officially, but I do hope that bullet points or something of the sort will be used for visual organization.

Best.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I want to offer some love to what I see as a trend in 3PP products lately, and that is the support of PRPG mechanics (e.g. haunts, poison, immediate actions, archetypes, etc, etc).

I thought it important to offer love for this trend because I find it much more useful than offering completely new rules systems.

Keep up the great work!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

My search-fu must be suffering, but for the life of me I cannot seem to find the rules for a burning house. Anybody know offhand?

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

My apologies if this opens up a can-o-worms, but will we see the release of the Rules FAQ system by Gen Con?

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I think I must be missing it, but can your mount also attack?

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I love the addition of the rumors table in Kingmaker, and I really hope that this becomes a regular occurrence in APs. Rumors are one of the main elements that make an area come alive, and having them already setup is just one thing I do not have to worry about as a GM.

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Has anyone noticed a change in the way links open pages on the forums?

I use Firefox/3.6.3 and have it set to open a link in a tab of my current window. This is how it has always worked until today. Now links are opening new windows. Bizarre.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Hello,

I'm hoping someone can offer some assistance. A few scenarios that I'm not quite sure how to handle:

- Two combatants treading water, while attacking each other. They both must make swim checks every rnd. and they both have cover?
- One combatant is treading in water, while they other is on the bank. Does the water-combatant get a some sort of minus for attacking the other?

Thank you!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

DMs,

How did you handle the kidnapping, and subsequent chase? Did you use another hook to get the PCs into the rest of the story?

I'm having a hard time figuring out how the pcs would not be able to catch up to the kidnappers. But perhaps, the kidnappers spread out and went in different directions? Some will inevitably captured, and they will betray that others are already on their way to Mokmurian. Perhaps that would work?

Just trying to make the hook as organic and meaty as possible.

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Does anyone know of a more specific location than "western arm of the Mindspin Mtns."?

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Have any scenarios involved Nirmathas? If not, are there any planned?

Just curious.

Best.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I am 100% impressed with both the level of quality and the level of consistency throughout #1 and the Players guide. Really spot on!

All of the artwork is evocative of the setting and all very usable from a DM's standpoint. The maps, are clean and detailed and there are plenty of them.

Kudos!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Golem,

I need to budget my holiday buys, and I'm wondering if Paizo has some holiday cheer they are planning to spread?

Thank you.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Given a coven ...

Does -each- of the hags obtain the new spells, and can cast them as a full-rd action:

or

If the coven spells are used only one total can be cast per rd? If this is the case, which hag's initiative do we use?

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

My PCs are almost 9th lvl, and as such the dynamic is starting to shift a bit. I want to convey the sense that Golarion doesn't have a ton of high-lvl NPCs running around, at the very least the dynamic is different than the feel I get from FR, of which many of the PCs are most used to.

I'm curious if anyone has any ideas on how to convey this? Obviously I can just tell them: "NPCs over 10th are rare, beyond 10th are exceptions to the rule. Keep in mind, though, power comes in many varieties of which "level" is one."

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I understand the use of table 3.1, which btw I think is a nice addition.

But how to understand the difference in the following two melee listings:

Ghoul: Melee bite +3 (1d6+1 plus disease and paralysis) and 2 claws +3
(1d6+1 plus paralysis)

Xorn: Melee bite +10 (4d6+3), 3 claws +10 (1d4+3)

- Notice, the Ghoul has an "and" in its listing. How do we approach that?
- Does the Xorn have 4 attacks if he were to do a full attack or 2 (3 claws as one "hit")?

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Say you have a scrag in a deep pool of water, and the PCs are on the edge. The scrag wants to stay in the pool. How do you handle Swim and the combat?

Does he just make a Swim check every round? Does he recieve a penalty?

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Hello,

I work hard to make the world, Golarion in this case, come alive when I am DMing. I'm curious how others have attempted, successfully, to integrate the deific elements. Are their particular things you do that really seem to work?

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I just noticed while checking out the Dire Wolf from the bestiary preview that nothing is said about their using Trip w/ Improved Trip. So, does that mean they provoke an AOO now?

Thanks.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Hello,

I'm hoping to gain some insight from all of you insightful folks that frequent the boards.

Background. A PC in my group is a 7th ranger with a giant gecko animal companion. This is the first time I have DMed someone who has used an animal companion, and the first time the person has played a character with an animal companion.

Issue. The PC is really having trouble figuring out how to make use of the companion. She is getting frustrated, with the situation and is starting to feel as if it was both a waste, and a frustration, to take on a companion.

Have you had PCs with animal companions who enjoyed the experience in your campaign? What are ways they used the companion? What are ways you've used to adjudicate the tricks, when they are trying to get their companion to do something?

I appreciate any insight into the situation.

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Hello,

I'm prepping an upcoming encounter with earth elementals (ee), and I'm trying to wrap my head around Earth Mastery.

Can ee end their turn within stone?
I'm assuming they can. So, in effect, they could attack, then sink/move into the floor? If that is the case ee's just became much tougher.

Thanks!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Note: I have not read the whole work yet, and naturally have not run a session yet.

I really like the explanation about what sort of PCs would work for the AP and why. I would say this is a must for every start of an AP.

- The plot is interesting and rich, powered by really cool characters.
- I like the focus on one area.

Cheers!

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Rules question below.

I am thinking of a Chuul, or any other creature with a similiar combo.

srd wrote:

Improved Grab (Ex)

To use this ability, a chuul must hit with a claw attack. It can then attempt to start a grapple as a free action without provoking an attack of opportunity. If it wins the grapple check, it establishes a hold and can constrict or on its next turn transfer a grabbed opponent to its tentacles.

Does the constrict ability happen on that same round, or the next one?

Thanks.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

Finally had a chance to read this one. Wow! The artwork in this installment is amazing. Standouts for me:

Spoiler:

Cap'n Creesy
Void Zombie*
Virashi
Chmetugo*
Xakihn*
Shindiira

* These are "fricking" amazing, throw money at the artists, continue to use them.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

GMs,

I'm curious how NPC casters have dealt with Silence in your campaigns. I have a PC caster has recently acquired it and has begun using it heavily. This is one of the first times I have had a PC use Silence so much, and I have begun to realize what a potent spell it is.

With that in mind, I'm wondering if basically every semi-intelligent caster would always have Silence memorized so as to counterspell it if it is cast on them? I'm not looking to "beat" my PC, just trying to think as casters would in a world where Silence is a serious threat.

Thanks.

(Pathfinder Charter Superscriber)

I've noticed that when I enter a PFS session that the database doesn't seem to recognize my Pathfinder ID. Should I contact Gary? Any ideas?

Best.
