Paizo is gamer. There is no division. And that is why Paizo gets it and rules 100%.
You guys rock.

I would love a copy jasonck at comcast.net
Thank you!
Wow, that is an AWESOME cover!
This is the direction I have wanted Golarion artwork to go in since the beginning. Keep it up!

The information for the factions on PF Wiki is a good way to go.
I don't have the adventure in front of me, but this is from what I remember.
In general, they would know about these factions, though some more than others. Pathfinder Society they would know the most of all ... everyone in the Inner Sea region should know about the Pathfinders, and have heard stories about famous pathfinders, in the way that most people know who M. Jordan is in real life.
Aspis Consortium they would also know quite a bit of general info about. Red Mantis they have definitely heard about.
The Sargavan govt, well, they have heard of Sargava, as to the details, that would probably depend on where they are from.
I forget the others, but the level of knowledge is probably similar to the Sargavan faction.
So the big three, Pathfinder Society, Aspis Consortium, and the Red Mantis (generalities, rumors), they would know the most about. Obviously specific leaders, and specific faction plans, the normal person probably doesn't know, but they all have heard of these three, no doubt.
Hope that helps, happy GMing!
Russell Akred wrote: To start off with one of my players didn't want to start at level 7th so I am running Rappan Athuk for their 3rd level party so I can give them some background on the end of the battle.
One of the PCs is a bounty hunting Ranger with several knowledge skills. I fed information about the Forest of Hope being a cursed glade and the mysterious conclusion to a war from a thousand years ago. Also I gave him a few little tid bits about The Camp, The Desolation, and some regional murderer that ran into the desolation some time back.
I am still waiting for the other players final characters but I am not starting until May 1st.
So I give them some information depending on their skills and background.
Thanks R. I'm stilling mulling over what sort of starting information I want to give them, or perhaps more specifically just how where on the general-particular spectrum I want to place the background information.
Looks like positive developments. Kudos on the upcoming changes.
I was not offended, but I appreciate that you offered an apology.
Russell, I was curious what information you are providing to your players at the start of the adventure?
Thanks.

Thanks for your kind words, Elorabaen! It's good to see that some people out there actually read my reviews and that the time I invest in them is not wasted. :)
All the best,
Endzeitgeist
Hell yea, I read them! You and DM. I have Agresta's blog in my Google Reader, so if I don't catch them here, and I catch them there. Absolutely not wasted. Keep up the great work, both of you.
Dale McCoy Jr wrote: Thank you. I really appreciate it. Truth be told, I really wonder why I am the only one that has provided continued support for an AP. Paizo delivers the adventure and a book of setting details, but there's lots more that can be done for each of them. The River Nations experiment was a smashing success and we have plans for more AP support for quite some time yet. You are welcome. 100% agree, and glad to hear it.

Dale McCoy Jr wrote: I hate to say it, but I disagree with you both. I wish that what you both are saying is true, but my business training tells me otherwise. Business success tends to have to do more with visibility and marketing. No one would ever call McDonalds quality, but they're a commercial success. Why? Good marketing and high visibility. In a similar manner, I know a plenty of people that blame Mongoose for being the ubiquitous d20 glut company. But they're still around. Why? High visibility and good marketing.
And while quality does help propel a company forward, high visibility (like the Paizo store blog posts) is more valuable.
Just my insight.
Yes, but we have DM and End at the helm of the quality police, so I think we're in good hands. Well, at least as long we keep feeding them tasty morsels every so often.
Dale, I hear ya, though I wonder what the experience of customers buying this particular area of product will have on this equation. I guess we'll see.
On a complete side note, Dale, I think the whole idea of River Nations was a brilliant one, and one I hope you, and other 3PPs continue to explore. Kudos.
Marc Radle wrote: I just picked this book up and all I can say is ... WOW! What a great book!
Kudos to everyone at Paizo for all the hard work - it really shows. I can't reccomend this highly enough. Even if you just get the PDF (although, honestly, the actual book is so gorgeous, I would strongly say to pop for the physical product) this is a must have.
Well done guys! Really well done!

Dark_Mistress wrote: On a unrelated note anyone watch his video blog about waters of 3pp Pathfinder getting crowded? Aye. I don't feel as if things are getting crowded, in fact, I feel as if things are just getting revved up. I think what we are finding is that you better provide a high-quality product if you plan to offer in this arena, and I think that is a good thing.
My inclination is to say that we won't see a glut, because a certain level of quality has been set that not everyone can provide.
Just some thoughts.
That was funny. :)
though ... I had hoped ... oh well.

I was wondering if is posible to obtain a copy of the maps in the pdf files without the text added on - I going to use VTT for my campain and that would be a great help to me and I am sure LOTS of others. I have tried to copy image, however this does not appear to be a layered image. Please let me know if you can help.
Thanks,

Try using Some PDF Extractr. That is what I use and it usually works. btw I use Maptool + Skype.
Good luck and have an awesome campaign!
Cool stuff all the way around.
Yes, PCs and NPCs. Awesome tool.

KnightErrantJR wrote: Having the APs point to sources outside of Core (Bestiary 2, APG, Ultimate X), really makes it seem like the AP line now exists to support the RPG line. The material is available for free in the PRD, so I think this thought is probably a bit off.
Thank you for sharing Russell. I think the drawings have personality, and capture the characters well. The only critique I can think of is that they have a cartoon feel, when ST is a pretty dark adventure. But that's just me, keep 'em coming!
Thank you for sharing Jeff!!
I want to give a shout out to Stephen Radney-MacFarland. He was thrown directly into the lions' den (ie. public playtest) right from the get go, and as such has taken a bit of beating. Design and customer service are two different arts, and navigating the two is quite the challenge.
Kudos to you for being both brave and professional. It is noticed, and appreciated. Keep up the good work.
Best.

I haven't messed with GoodReader because I went ahead and bought the 9 dollar PDF app. So far I have had no problems with any PDF's and I have Shadowrun, Pathfinder, Mutants and Masterminds and products from other companies as well on my device.
Hope this helps.
Ed, what app are you referring to? Link? Thanks!
Evil Lincoln wrote: I, for one, would love to see an actual Chronicles paperback that just had a writeup for each iconic a levels 1-20, with an emphasis on their personalities vastly more than mechanical efficiency.
It would be extra cool if their progression through the levels told a kind of story; where they got certain items, or why they picked certain feats ("Precise shot because I kept hitting Val"), etc.
I think that would make for a really interesting product.
Now, this idea I could get behind. very cool.
jreyst wrote: I too think it would be a waste of time for Paizo to stat these out. It seems like something the community can/should do, and then even, oh I don't know, host them on some random fan site that has infinite free storage :) I pretty much concur with j here, though I don't think it would be a waste of time per say, but I do think the community could do this just fine. A few of the Rules board frequenters would have a field day with these.
