"And perhaps keeping such information separate is a wise course of action. I believe that we shall retire for the evening as well. Morthos, my dear, if you would like to speak later, please feel free to visit." With that Elise and the other White Ravens rise to retire.

As they leave one of the twins, Trak, can be heard to mutter something* as they leave, which is met with a sharp glare from Elise.

*Perception DC 20:
"Filthy Asmodeans"

Female Human

"I assumed it would gain interest, though I would have preferred the Cardinal to his little pu...companion." The slip in her wording was obviously deliberate on her part. "Though I must ask who you to be, as it appears neither my Ravens, nor Morthos's group are aware of who you to be exactly?"

Female Human

Tatya:
Elise does indeed have her raven with her and with that check, it's easy to identify it as a familiar. Sadly you don't know too much about the Endless Winter.

"Bending the hearts of others? I believe I have to agree with Miss Beatrix. The only way to bend a heart is to twist it, and rule it with fear. The people of this land have been sheep for most of their lives. Sheep who will learn to fear the wolves as our frigid teeth tear out their throats." Elise does not speak with compassion or conviction, but rather as though talking about her day. "Do you really think you can bring your beliefs to these sheep, Morthos? Would it not be easier to rule them outright?"

Female Human

"I would consider myself of a faith, just not the same as Thorn's. My patron is the Endless Winter. But does a minor difference of faith matter in the greater goodness of bringing down Sarenrae, Iomedae and their allies?"

Female Human

The venemous glare given to the Trak is quickly replaced with another smile. "What my compatriot meant to say is that the wise Cardinal is clever to not only draw from pool of his own faithful."

Sense Motive DC 15:
While Elise is attempting to maintain a facade of coolness, the anger from before still wells within her.

"I'm afraid I am not so grand a speaker as Bostarg, but I will do my best." She takes a drink of water before continuing. "We had managed to locate a tomb to one of the Victor's knights. Considering he didn't need the items he had been buried with, we decided to liberate them for our own use. Nothing too dreadfully exciting, not as much as a prison break. So what other deeds have you all done?"

Sense Motive DC 29:

She most definitely has an ulterior motive to the information she is requesting, purposely driving the topic away from her own groups skills and delving into what your group can do.

DM Stuff:

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Female Human

As Bostarg's story concludes, Elise gives out a small ovation, joined in by Trik and a grunt of approval from Dostan. Trak simply picks at his plate. "I must say, wonderful tale, Bostarg. Simply wonderful retelling. And to think you have an ogre with you? Most impressive. Has he been tamed?"

Female Human

"Ah, where are my manners. These are my White Ravens. The half-elven gentlemen next to you is Dostan Alfson, from Kalsgard. The twins are Trik and Trak Rackburn." Each nods as they are introduced.

Looking at the table, she leans in close to Morthos and asks him, "I don't suppose you invited others? Beyond your team of course."

Female Human

"He has become somewhat infatuated with me, and becomes jealous when he sees me talking to another. I suppose I should consider it flattering. I best make sure he has not gotten himself into trouble. Perhaps you and your companions would join my Ravens for dinner this evening? This mansion does indeed have a rather elegant dining hall, though the Asmodean decorum does become tedious. It simply becomes a matter of informing the servants of our intentions."

Accept or decline, she'll take her leave at this point.

Female Human

It's obvious from her stance she is please with the compliment given to Zimoi. "Not you, my silly Morthos. Your group. Or are you truly just a ragtag band of criminals escaped from the greatest prison in Talingarde?" Her own words are playful.

Sense Motive DC 20:
While she is genuinely flattered by the compliment to Zimoi, she does seem to have a hidden agenda.

DM Screen:

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Female Human

"The name we took when we began our own terror upon Talingarde, named after Zimoi here." The albine raven almost seems to stand taller at Elise's words, letting out a caw after clicking it's beak. "It consists of myself, Dostan, and a pair of twins, Trik and Trak. I believe it was Trak we heard behind us. A good ally, but he sees what is not there between us." She squeezes your arm at this remark.

"This Bostarg, is he the leader of your group? And what are you called, if I may be so bold to ask?"

Female Human

"Nothing like that, I'm afraid. Though it does explain Thorn's warnings of Talirean soldiers. No, my White Ravens were recruited on our merits. Walk with me and I'll gladly tell you the story."

At about this time a sudden impact of shattering glass can be heard. At the end of the hallway you see a mirror, the middle of it cracked and pieces falling, as a flutter of bluish-white cloth can be seen going away.

"It would seem one of my Raven's was eavesdropping as well. No matter, he will recover."

If you want to go after him, we can retcon. Otherwise, she continues speaking, taking you arm and leading you in the opposite direction.

"As I was saying, my Raven's and I were recruited by Thorn, through Tiadora, after we impressed him by sacking the tomb of one of Markadian's paladins." She speaks of Tiadora with no small amount of detestment. "I admit grave-robbing isn't the most exciting of tales, but the desecration of the holy site, well deserved for one of the Victor's* knights."

"So when Thorn's pet came to us, it was a difficult offer to say no to. I must admit, 'hesitation', to serving Asmodeus, even in words. But I have good feelings about this." There's more to her words, though she does not offer the information.

"So what about yourself? What brings you to Thorn's service?"

*Common Knowledge:

The Victor was a title held by the original King Markadian.

Female Human

She makes her way towards you, a smile appearing on her face as she moves. "A pleasure, Morthos. My name is Elise Zadaria." The raven on her shoulder clicks it's beak at you, "And this is Zimoi. I was not aware there were others in this house not completely enthralled by Thorn's lackey." It's as much question as statement.

Perception DC 26:
You glimpse a man in a mirror at the far end of the hall, watching the interaction between you and Elise.

Fargo is more confused than anything Huh, what? He turns to Cain Do you think we are going to have a dumb name for our group.

The albino bird on bird on Elise's shoulder clicks it's beak at Fargo a couple times before unleashing a caw in his direction, almost seeming to be insulting. "It would seem you've upset Zimoi, Fargo."

Fargo's question makes Cain laugh, but his considering eyes never leave the woman's. [b]"Well, jealous or not, tell Trak he's good. As for the Cardinal's plans…" Cain carefully and deliberately looks to the right and left, then leans in… deep into Elise's personal space, "… I make a mean strawberry torte and no one cake decorates better Fargo here… no one. Don't let that get out, though."

He steps back, his manner slipping back to casual, "You prolly know more than us, anyway. Remember?" He hikes a thumb at himself and Fargo, "New guys." He tries to put on a sincere look, "But I can let you know if I learn something, if you'd like."

"Sounds delicious. Though I'm more accustomed to freshly clubbed bunyip cub. But I'll take my leave for now. And if I should learn anything, I might be willing to share it as well."

An angry look passes across Elise's face at the mention of someone following, and she turns to stare behind her for a moment. "That would be Trak, if I were to guess. Another of my group. He tends to be the jealous type. Of course nothing to be jealous of. Or is there, Fargo?" She gives the half-elf a playful smile. "As to what we do, well the same as you. Whatever Thorn commands of us. Unless of course he has been willing to share actual details of his plans with you?" As she asks, she moves in closer to Fargo.

Sense Motive DC 23:
Her efforts are an attempt to gain information.

"Hmm, direct are we? As I said, my name is Elise Zadaria, leader of the White Ravens. And apparently an ally. Let's see what I can figure out about you two without names." She eyes both of you up and down, like a horse seller eyeing a horse. She starts with Cain. "Rugged, outdoorsman. A berserker maybe? You have a savage connection to the wild. I've probably met a dozen like you in the north." She's obviously unimpressed with Cain.

Turning to Fargo, a smile plays upon her face. She takes one hand and presses against his cheek. "Now you on the other hand. There's something else there. Something hidden, a power. You, I like."

Perception DC23:
You hear the sounds of footsteps the way Elise had came from, walking away.

Yes, human. And yes, they have a sparring room for your use.

She smiles at the remark. "I was just thinking the same of the two of you." She eyes you both up and down, then approaches. "Elise Zadaria." She extends her hand outward in greeting. "And who might you two be? More servants of Thorn? Though of the free willed variety?"

Female Human

Making the assumption you two are walking together at least.

@ Fargo and Cain,

The two of you are traversing the corridors (heading back to own rooms or looking for place to spar), around the corner ahead of you comes a striking woman, black hair rolling out from underneath a white fur hood. She locks onto the two of you with steel grey eyes, while an albin raven upon one shoulder does the same with twin red orbs. She herself is bedecked out entirely in white furs, obviously not one of the slaves by her demeanor. She is apprently waiting for you two to make the first move.

Female Human

@ Morthos,

During the three days you spend in the house, walking down one of the hallways, up ahead around the corner comes a person you have not yet seen. Another beauty, black colored hair with steel grey eyes, dressed in white colored furs and an albino raven upon her shoulder. From her demeanor, she is obviously not one of the slaves here.

Seeing you at the same time you see her, she stops and returns your gaze, apparently waiting for you to make the first move.
