Just throwing it out there to see if there are enough people interested. My work on the game went much better when I was involved in a PBP game. I started one up last year and other than players shuffeling around I thought it went well. For those of you not familiar with my game concept here we are:

The premisis of the game is that each player would run a couple of characters. One character they have belongs to a small team of Legionnaires that go on a mission. The the other character they have belongs to a different team. As the plot is developed, it will in most cases connect the findings of both groups, thus they are involved in the same plot but each taking it in from a different perspective. Alternatively, they could be following different plotlines that are unrelated.

For an ongoing home campaign the original concept was for each player to have 3-4 characters and explore the plot with each group, as described above. For PBP I think 2 is plenty.

One may pick the Legionnaires of their choice and I'll step in to balance character power so that one player does not dominate the entire PBP. You may also pick a second Legionnaire.

I'm slowly working on powers as well as personality and specie qualities and would provide them as a need to have basis. The goal is for you to have fun, for me to see what works and what doesn't. You should fully expect me to alter, add or delete rules in order to improve the game system.

Major rule sections that have yet to be written (such as spaceship combat) can be worked out in a brief way in order to continue play, though the real deal would be later worked out.

Even if your not familar with the Legion of Super-Heroes comic feel free to contact me. Essentially, the Legion takes place in the 30th century where the galaxy is controlled by various organizations or species. Interstellar travel is very common. So basically, you play a superhero in the far flung future. In a way, they are similar to the Justice League but take their works in far off places of the future. The homebase is on Earth within the city of Metropolis.

If anyone is interested in playing, want's to check out some rules first, is looking for rule clairification or is just seeking general Legion knowledge please post here or send me an email at:

I'd also like to invite everyone to the Legion of Super-Heroes thread which can be found under the Comics section of this site.

This should serve as all of the Out of Character disucssion necessary for our campaign. Hopefully everyone can access it easily.

Greetings Legionnaires and welcome to the Legion of Super-Heroes Play By Post Game.

Everyone should have a copy of their character as well as the various chapters sent out. If you did not revieve them please email me and I will re-issue them again.

Lightning Lad please email me if you can.

Sigh!....I'm getting desparate, exasperated and all around irritated. For months now I have been trying to build a Legion website for my game system and yet I fail miserably with each try. I have made several attempts using various "free" sites and regardless of what I choose it just doesn't work for me.

I'm currently ATTEMPTING to use this site...

Eileen's Legion RPG Site

With every site I have tried, the first major snag I hit is making links from one place to another. I've tried using the "help" systems provided by the sites, but none-the-less, I remain helpless.

I really just want to put my information out there so that it can serve as a referance for other Legion Fans (as much of the site will work as an encyclopedia) as well as one that offers the rules of the game. I would like it have it "protected" in the sense that one cannot simply just paste and cut all my hard work and take it and run.

Is there anybody out there who is willing to give me the guidance necessary to make this website happen?

Greetings Matt & Jessica, welcome to our game.

Hey all, many of you know that over the past year and a half I've been writing a Legion of Super-Heroes Roleplaying game. I've been playing some at home (not a lot through) as well as having started a PBP game here on Paizo and am looking for additional players to join.

The premisis of the game is that each player would run a couple of characters. One character they have belongs to a small team of Legionnaires that go on a mission. If you want to role up a character of your own one will have to abide by the Legion Constitution; which pretty much says you need a unique power. We would love to have you join our campaign, its really going well.

Please help me out on the math for this gaming question.

During an encounter within my Legion of Super-Heroes PBP game here on Paizo, I presented the players with some data gained from computers they found. Essentially, they found a large room with giant test tubes which are forming many many people. So here is the data and question:

1. There are 21,486 losses (beings dead) in their gaseous state, a total which equals 24.67% and there are 73.28% gains (alive beings) as well as 2.05% which are uncertain (alive or dead).

2. In addition, there are another 1,974 losses (dead beings) from in physical bodies.

3. How many total beings existed?

How many pounds is 12 ktons?

I picked up the new DC Adventures Hero's Handbook and they list a table for measurements of mass, time, distance and volume. The game shows Superman at a strength of 19 which enables him to lift 12 ktons, what would this be in pounds (show me the calculation please)

Hi Paizo staff. I started up a PBP thread and accidently have 2 threads concerning PBP discussion. This is creating confusion for both my players and myself. Would you be kind enough to remove this particular thread so that I only have one PBP discussion?

Thread to be removed.

Welcome to the Legion of Super-Heroes Play By Post game, I the Cosmos Master shall guide your characters through adventures which hope to be fitting of the Legion of Super-Heroes Comic Book. May the games be entertaining to all as well as a worthy play test of the game system. I deeply appreciate each and every person who offered to play and I sincerely hope it will be worth your while.

A special Thank you to Valegrim, for putting up with my tons of posts within my Legion Thread since Saturday, December 1st, 2007, offering of ideas and patience in waiting to play. Also a special thank you to Set and DM Freehold as well. Hope to see you and others showing an interest in the Legion of Super-Heroes Roleplaying Game.

May the Game Begin......................

All right Fray, since your the first player you get first picks for Legionnaires. As mentioned before, each player will run 2 characters, typically each ran in separate groups. We can simply refer to them as Group 1 and Group 2 to avoid confusion.

You can pick 2 Legionnaires or pick 1 and create your own. Which option do you want to go with?

I would like to ask for some help with finalizing my lifting weights and speed rates for my Legion of Super-Heroes game.

There are several categories in the game to measure attributes and super powers, each has a corresponding number which are used to determine a variety of information, such as in this case lifting weight and speed. The do a lot more but that's another story.

The categories and their numbers are as follows:

Subfeble/0
Feeble/1
Weak/2
Poor/3
Typical/4
Average/5
Good/6
Excellent/7
Remarkable/8
Astonishing/9
Heroic/10
Powerful/11
Epic/12
Unearthly/13
Ultra/14
Super/15
Galactic/16
Universal/17
Godlike/18
Infinite/19

The various sentinent species will have arange for each attribute which is the min. max. for their norm/non-super powered. I'd like to see the normal humanoid range from Weak/3 to Heroic/10 for most non-super-powered attributes. The categories after Heroic are more intended for super powers (as a general rule).

The maximum weight or speed a category allows should be a factor of the category number multiplied/divided by a given number, such as:

1 x 10 = 10 pounds
20 x 20 = 20 pounds
3 x 30 = pounds

or maybe

10 - 1000 pounds
11 - 11,000 pounds
etc.

or perhaps

1 = 100
2 = 200
3- 300
etc.

or
1 = 1000
2 = 2000
3 = 3000
etc.

This is really hard for me to explain in a post but hopefully your getting the idea. The category and factor number should follow some sort of pattern for strength, movement etc. The number in which the category number is multiplied by/divided by, can vary from topic to topic, but I want the math to have a logical progression pattern for a given topic/ability.

If you don't understand, please post and maybe I can explain it better.

Thanks.

The other day I was looking across my desk and saw the DC Hero-clix I have from the Legion collection. These miniatures I like except that the bases are to big and the costumes are wrong for my needs. In an effort to get around the "big bases" issue, I purchased some additional miniatures (non-Legion) with the thought of removing them from the base and re-applying them to a smaller one. One can buy small bases at a hobby store.

Anyway, before I got around to the disection process, it occurred to me that some of these non-Legion miniatures could be repainted and have the correct costumes painted on. The way I see it, I have two options:

1. I could spray them first which would cover up the paint and then give them a make-over.

2. I could remove the paint using some house-hold chemical, spray them and then repaint them.

Which do you think would give better results?

Now I don't expect them to turn out "WOW" or anything. My painting skills with miniatures are average. Whether the paint is stripped off or not, the miniature won't have all the lines in the right place so I would have to try and make up for this on the paint job that I do.

Essentially, I'm looking for suggestions on the best way to go about this procedure in order to get them to look as best as I can. Would you remove the paint? Would you spray them? I really want them to have the costumes from the Adventure comics era through the late 70's as these are the costumes I prefer.

Shopping for the best miniatures for such and such a character will take some effort but I have little else to spend my gaming money on anyway.

Suggestions and Help Wanted!

I started a thread concerning feedback on my homemade Legion of Super-Heroes RPG. I posted tons of text for feedback. If you don't approve of this for some reason or another, I offer my apology and ask you to delete the thread rather than locking it. Hope my initiative in this endeavor was all right with your management. In either case, thanks!

Assuming Paizo is kind enough to allow me to discuss my homemade game, please give me your feedback here.

Happy World Building =)"

In a previous thread, Rathadar suggested that I post some of my rules for the Legion of Super-Heroes Role Playing Game that I have been working on for the past year. Now that I've finally gotten into the position of being comfortable with my ideas and written a significant amount of rules, I would like to get some feedback for those interested (bored enough) to read them and give them some thought. I'm posting them in this thread (as opposed to the usual Legion thread) because I want to keep things together and not have it broken up by general Legion conversation. In addition, I'm hoping that it will generate more of a looksie by those normally not visiting the Legion thread.

In a nut shell, it resembles the d20 to a degree. After that, it takes a sharp turn to the left and goes into other territory. I realize it will be difficult to follow what I've written in some cases because I won't have the entire rule-set posted (or finished for that matter). If there is any confusion about what rules I'm posting because of lack of information (from other related rules, or just lack of rules in general) ask and I will be happy to post them to clairify things.

As such, were talking about quite a few pages of rules, perhaps (this is a guess) 75+ pages? Of coarse, minus artwork and examples and it drops considerably.

Anyway, I've got rules (keep in mind nothing is finished) for ability scores (called TRAITS), skills (called AREAS OF EXPERTISE), combat, advancement, and powers.

Hi there, I beleive I mentioned this on another thread but here goes.

Recently I talked to a gentleman about buying some comics from him. Today I went to his house and looked at the comics themselves. Here's what I found...

Now I only noticed one of these comics had Legion in it and even that was pretty minor. However I'm thinking there might be some value to some of the comics here and therefore would like to get some input from you folks.

I would say the the comics were in FINE to GOOD condition based off what I've seen for evaluating comics on the internet. I didn't buy anything because I decided to do some research first. The highlights he had were as follows:

The Avengers #19, Aug. 1965, He wants $20.00 for it.

Fantastic Four #42, Sept. 1965, He wants $5.00 for it.

Giant Man and Incredible Hulk #69, July 1965, He wants $10.00 for it.

Giant Man and Incredible Hulk #66 Apr, 1965, He wants $10.00 for it.

Spiderman #23, Apr. 1965, He wants $20.00 for it.

Spiderman #29 Oct. 1965, He wants $20.00 for it.

Spiderman #30 Nov 1965, He wants $10.00 for it.

Amazing Fantasy #15, Aug 1962 (apparently the first appearance of Spiderman from what I understood). He wants $200 for it, I'd say condition is Good, the biggest flaws were a slightly rolled spine and somewhat loose cover but not to bad, the outer right edge was chewed (maybe 1/8 all the way down, otherwise in decent condition. This is the worst of the comics in regards to condition, all of the others on this list were better.

Superman #155, Aug 1962, He wants $5.00 for it.

Giant Superman Annual #5, Summer 1962. He wants $5.00 for it.

Ironman and Captain America #59, Nov. 1964, He wants $20.00 for it.

Ironman and Captain America #58, Oct. 1962, He wants $20.00 for it.

Hawkman $43, Sept. 1962, He wants $20.00 for it.

Daredevil #4, Oct. 1962, He wants $20.00 for it.

The Flash - Giant Issue #4, Oct. 1964, He wants $7.00 for it.

Batman #149, Aug. 1962, He wants $5.00 for it.

The Shadow #3, Nov. 1964, He wants $2.00 for it.

Strange Tales: The Watcher, #134, Jul 1965, He wants $5.00 for it.

I'll buy a price guide to help me figure out what these comics are worth if I were to turn around and sell them. Regarding the prices for the various conditions in a comic price guide; are these what I could sell them for or if I sold them to a comic store or should I expect a lot less? If so, where else should I go to sell them? Right now I'm looking for some advice to get me started on things. Does anyone know of any websites I can visit which will tell me what the value is of these comics based on the condition?

He had some others for sale as well but their condition was worse POOR to FAIR, they were all other types of comics, such as Aquaman and Aqualad #32, Bugs Bunny 1959, Woody Woodpecker 1955, Mouse Musketeers 1957, Loony Tunes 1959, Herbie #5 1964 (not the car but some other sort of character I'd never seen before), Fightin Army #44 1961, Tarzan 1959-1960, Disney's Word of Adventure 1963, Bonanza 1962, Tonka #966 1968 (how can a comic be up to issue #966 in 1958, unless he meant issue #96?), 1962 MN Twins Yearbook. I didn't think any of these were worth anything though. They were all very cheap, most $1.00, a few at $5.00, and the Herbie at $7.00.

Any input would be appreceiated. Thanks much!

This thread is dedicated to all of those gamers out there who MUST go through some sort of ritual-like experience to PROPERLY prepare for their game, be it fantasy, Superheros, sci-fi, or any other genre. This is your opportunity to share with you geekdom moments.

Me?

Desk Washing: I wash my desk off with a damp cloth. This includes removing any books, the light, dice box, miniatures, books, pen, pencil, erasure, calculater, or anything else that is on the desk and wiping underneath.

Dice Sorting: Depending upon the game I play, my dice sorting varies. When I'd play D&D, I would arrange the dice by size, putting each d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20 in its own pile and line them up in a row from highest to lowest. Being the DM, these dice were used strictly for gamemastering and were placed directly in front of the DM screen. I'd then put the dice box off to the side.

I would then place my character's dice on their own dice bag off to my right side.

Now when I played Top Secret/S.I., I would select three dice of each size, one of each color and put them in a single pile, leaving the remaining dice in the dice box I bought and put it up by the Administrators Screen.

I would then place my character's dice on their own dice bag off to my right side, just as I did for D&D.

Now that I'm playing Legion (or rather trying), I need to develop new dice habits.

Gaming Clothes: When I played D&D, I would have a specific gaming shirt I wore, in fact everyone in the group would wear the same type of shirt.

With Top Secret/S.I. I would wear a fine silk shirt which portrayed a dragon and tiger on it. My character is half Caucasion and half Japanese but only acknowledges her Japanese heritage. I would also put on a necklace with a green dragon on it, as it matched her codename.

With Legion, I'm wearing my Phantom Girl Girl (t-shirt from Walmart with a iron on picture of her). We made similiar Legion shirts for the other 2 players as well. I have Superman pj's bottoms to wear as well.

Drinks: I have a glass gaming mug I would use for soda pop. It would hold just less than a can of pop. Recently I upgraded to a much larger one. This thing is so big it takes 3 cans of pop. The glass is so heavy that that it requires 2 hands to drink from it.

Gaming Room: I have a room dedicated to gaming, the decor of the room changes depending upon the game I am currently involved in. When I played D&D I filled it with Greyhawk posters. I had two posters of the City of Greyhawk on the wall, a felt scroll hanging of a griffon coat of arms I picked up at the Rennasaince Fair, a few weapons on the wall and desk (2 sais, a ninja-to, and a shuriken), I have several Xena 8x10 pictures framed and put on the wall, as well as a few Xena posters as well.

When I switch to Top Secret/S.I., I take down most of the D&D stuff and put up other things. The posters get replaced with Top Secret/S.I. posters that have come with modules. One is of the island of San Cristobal, one is a blue print of a submarine, another a bluepring of a train. I have another which is the blueprint mansion of a villain and yet another which shows the blueprint of Monte Carlo casino. The weapons remain on the wall and desk. These are the weapons my character uses (she's a modern day ninja). I also have a t-shirt of my character as well which hangs on the wall. I have several Japanese ordainments within the room as well. Two fans, one on top of the sterio another on the wall (its like 4' long). I have portaits up of the characters as well. I have many, many, and even many Jame Bond 8x10 pictures all framed which get strategically placed throughout the gaming room and adjoining bathroom. They are separated by themes of the pictures.

For Legion, I have some Supergirl posters I've found, My Legion books out (the 12 hardcover archive books on the desk), 3 videos from the Legion cartoon, two action figures, a small telephone booth of Clark Kent entering and tearing off his shirt to reveal the "S" on his costume. Flip open the other door and Superman is flying out of the booth fully costumed. I have some Legion hero-clix miniatures as well on the desk. I've printed some Legion pictures and they are framed on the desk as well. On the walls I have a Legion poster. I also have a Superman pillow case mounted on the wall. I've printed several 4x6 pictures from my Legion screensaver and put them in frames which hold several pictures. Finally, I have a picture of planet Earth framed and on top of the electric fireplace.

Regardless of which game I'm playing, I have my gaming table for my two battle mats, along with miniatures spread out nearby. With Top Secret/S.I. I also use toy cars, helicopters, boats, and the like to assist in game play.

So what do you do to celebrate your gaming geekdom?

Today I came home to discover that one of the three cats tore open one of my daughters pillows. This particular pillow was filled with some sort of styrofoam-like material, with each piece being smaller than a pinhead. There are literally hundreds of thousands of pillow stuffings all over the house. The cat responsible was given a bath as she was covered from head to tail in the stuff. The other cats received baths as well because they picked up the stuff all over them just by wandering around the house. My daughters bed was completly covered in white pillow stuffings, most of which were vacuumed up. All of her pillows, blankets, stuff animals, everything needs to be washed. Most of it comes off in the washer/dryer but not all of it. This stuff is going to linger forever in the house. It's all over my clothes, my furniture, the bathroom towels, the carpet, the cats, its in my hair, absolutely everywhere. I'll have to wash everything at least twice.

Other than getting rid of the cat or doing other harmful things to her, does anybody have any worthy suggestions on how to clean my house?

Hi there, I was asked to post a prestige class I created when 3rd edition came out on another thread. With that done, I thought other Greyhawk fans might be intrested in placing their GREYHAWK) house rules for others. I'm reposting it here, hoping others will follow suit.

GIANT SLAYERS OF THE LOST LANDS
In the year 576 CY, the good lands of Geoff and Sterich were brutally invaded by hill, frost, and fire giants descending from the peaks of the Jotens, Crystalmist, and Hellfurnaces Mountains. A brave group of adventurers led by a dwarf named Redmod Dumple, fought valiantly against these invaders, attacking key locations such as the Steading of the Hill Giant Chief, The Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl, and the Hall of the Fire Giant King. After defeating these significant locales, the adventurers learned that drow elves were organizing and supporting the giant attacks. These tales are now known as the legendary stories of Against the Giants and The Descent into the Depths of the Earth.

When the giants and drow were defeated, only a few adventurers returned to the surface world, one of them being Redmod Dumple. Soon after the lands were liberated from the invaders, stories began appearing throughout the country sides depicting the exploits of this courageous dwarf; as such, Redmod Dumple was given a new name by the bards, Redmod the Giant Slayer.

With his new title and the honor of protecting his homeland, Redmod began teaching others the art of giant slaying. Training was available to all who were brave enough to answer his challenge. Thus began the Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands.

Though more than twenty years has passed since Redmod fought the giants, the passage of time as allowed him to train countless adventurers, who in turn have taught students of their own. With their renown expertise in giant slaying, many of Redmod’s pupils have taken their skills to other lands throughout the Flanaess. These skills have been developed and shaped to fit the unique terrains and giant kind faced in various lands in order to maximize the effectiveness of the giant slayer. With all this, the Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands has become one of the most famous organizations throughout the Flanaess.

PRESTIGE CLASS, GIANT SLAYERS OF THE LOST LANDS
The World of Greyhawk is filled with giants and such a land is in demand of those that possess the skill and courage to eradicate such monsters. These experienced individuals come from similar backgrounds, most of which suffered from the cruelty of such giant kind. These heroes have become self-motivated, brave, and above all, have learned the art of giant slaying in order to protect their homelands and to champion those who would also suffer fates similar to theirs.

Giant Slayers generally rely on light armor and special combat techniques which are designed to bring about the demise of such creatures as quickly as possible. Working with others, they utilize their skills and knowledge to lead attacks against giants and vanquish their hated foes.

Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands may have previous training from any character class, though barbarians, fighters, and rangers certainly make up the majority of these individuals. Those with spell casting abilities may become effective giant slayers as a result of the unique class abilities.

Hit Dice
Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands receive a d10 hit die for each experience level attained.

REQUIREMENTS
To qualify to become a Giant Slayer of the Lost Lands, characters must fulfill the following criteria:

• You must have a base attack bonus of +4 or higher
• You need at least 3 ranks in the Knowledge (Giant Lore) skill as well as have the Speak Language (Giant) skill. This may be taken in replace of a bonus racial language.
• You must have at one time victimized by giants in order to develop such a strong hatred for these creatures. This life changing moment may be the result of being captured and enslaved by giants, watching one’s home town be over ridden by such creatures, watching loved ones die by their hands, or some similar moment of tragedy.
• In order to be accepted into the organization you must slay a particular giant selected by members of the giant slayer organization. Proof of success must come in the form of the giant’s head or be witnessed by a good standing member of the organization.
• You must take the Vow of Courage.

ACCEPTANCE INTO THE ORGANIZATION
To become a join and train to become a Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands, you must meet the first three requirements above. You may then attend a yearly meeting of the Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands and request an audience with the senior member present. This individual shall listen to your request and determine if it has any merit and if so, a quest of courage will be called for.

The quest of courage requires you to kill a specific giant chosen by the senior member. Information pertaining to the giant’s background and exploits as well as approximate location is then given unto you. Reaching the giant’s location and defeat of any companions may be accepted by party members of the applicant or the aid of a Giant Slayer of the Lost Lands of your choosing. The giant specifically designated to you must be slain by you alone.

Upon completion of the class requirements, you will become a member of the Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands. A ceremony called the Right of Passage will be held in your honor. During this ceremony you must take the Vow of Courage and be awarded a heraldic coat of arms indicating your status within the organization. Worked into the coat of arms is the symbol of the Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands. The design consisting of a triangular shaped shield with a hill giant on the bottom, a frost giant on the upper left, and a fire giant in the upper right. In the center is the character’s unique personal symbol. The background is always blood red.

CLASS FEATURES CLASS FEATURES
The class features for the Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands are as follows:

Track
You receive the track feat at 1st level. Giant tracks are easier to identify and follow than others and when tracking such creatures the DC is reduced by 5. If you already possess the track feat, you acquire 1 additional rank in the ability.

Regional Ability
Each region of Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands has its own special ability unique to that territory. You have acquired that ability. The exact nature of the talent is dependent upon where you learned to slay giants. See regional abilities below.

Insipiring Words Inspiring Words
When battling giants you offer inspiring words be it advice or encouragement to your companions within 20 feet. The following round, the individual increases their chance to hit by +2 for 4 rounds plus your Cha. modifier (always a minimum of 1 round regardless of Cha. modifier).

Taunt Taunt
You are skilled in aggravating your giant opponent, taunting it with insults. This is a free action. The following round, the giant makes a Will saving throw to avoid becoming so aggravated that it makes mistakes in combat, suffering a -4 in battle against the giant slayer. The ability lasts for 1d4+1 rounds ad may be repeated until the giant succeeds in their Will saving throw. The DC of the Will saving throw equals 10 + Giant Slayer character level + charisma modifier.

Hated Species
Battle experience has created a hatred for a specific giant species. Select one type of giant and gain a +2 attack bonus (including spells requiring a touch attack), and +4 damage bonus (this modifier applies to damage inflicted by spells as well).

Detect Ambush
Your knowledge of giants allows you to locate a giant ambush in advance. When nearing such an attack (surprise situation) you receive a +4 bonus to spot or listen checks.

Lair Knowledge
Upon entering a giant lair, you can anticipate the layout design thereby understanding what lies ahead. This enables you to determine the locations of guards, treasure, pets, and where various types of rooms lie, such as sleeping quarters, kitchen, dens, and the like. Successful determination of such detail requires a +4 Int check against a DC of 15. (DM’s should use the Against the Giants module series to help determine giant lair layouts).

Instill Fear
When facing off in melee combat against one giant, you show such hatred and fierceness that your opponent must make a Will saving throw DC 10 + Giant Slayer character level + Cha modifier, or take the defensive in battle. A failed Will roll indicates the giant employs the “Fighting Defensively as a Standard Action” on page 140 of the Players Guide.

Lead Attack
Your presence raises the morale of your companions while fighting giants. With your battle experience those within 50’ increase their attack by +2 for the duration of the fight.

Anticipate Giant Attack
Your extensive giant experience allows you to anticipate organized giant attacks upon familiar settlements 2-3 weeks in advance. With this ability, you are able to determine the species and properly estimate the number of giants which would be involved in the raid. You are able to determine their place of origin as well as route of travel towards the settlement. To determine any of these factors, you must make a Knowledge (giant lore) skill check against a DC of 15 for familiar giants and terrain or in dealing with unfamiliar giants and terrain, the DC becomes 20.

REGIONAL ABILITIES
Various areas of the Flanaess are particularly populated and threatened by giants. In each region a special class ability feature is learned which assists the individual in their crusade against giants. These abilities may be used only against the giants of your region. Regional abilities are as follows:

Frost, Ice, and Snow Barbarians, Bon March, Corusks Mountains, Rakers Mountains, Blemu Hill,s, Flinty Hills
The primary giant species encountered in these regions are frost, hill, and stone. As a giant slayer of this area you battle with such ferocity that when you take damage from your giant kin opponent, a +1 bonus is applied to all your attacks for every 20 points they have inflicted upon you.

Lands of Iuz, Howling Hills
The majority of giants encountered in these regions are hill giants in service of Iuz and his troops. Your hatred extends to these giants and you acquire a +1 attack, damage and saving throw bonus for every 2 levels you have in the Giant Slayer of the Lost Lands prestige class.

The Pomarj, Abbor-Alz Hills and Mountains, Cairn Hills, Drachensgrab Hills
Hill giants are the primary specie living within these areas. The giant slayers of these lands are especially good at preparing ambushes against their giant foes. A successful Knowledge (giant lore) skill check against a DC of 15 allows you to select an appropriate ambush location providing it’s at least 1 mile from the giant’s lair. If successful, you encounter giants after 1d12 hours of waiting (this is in addition to normal chances of encounters). Your Hide and Move silently skill checks receive a +4 bonus when preparing the ambush. After one encounter with giants the ambush location must be moved to at least 5 miles away.

Spine Ridge Hills
Hill giants are most likely to be found in the Spine Ridge Hills. You have learned to be particularly good at disarming giants and may use the disarm combat attack on page 155 of the Players Guide with greater ease. The character is not subject to an attack of opportunity and the giant receives only half his size bonus when making their opposed roll to prevent the disarming. Each time this technique is tried against a particular giant, the character imposes a cumulative -2 penalty to their own opposed die roll due to the giant learning from the experience. Most Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands utilize two handed weapons because of this regional ability.

Lost Lands (Geoff and Sterich), The Kingdom of Keoland, The Yeomanry, Dim Forest, Hornwood Forest, Oytwood Forest, Barrier Peaks Mountains, Clatspur Mountains, Crystalmist Mountains, Hellfurnaces Mountains, Jotens Mountains, Salhaut Mountains, Ullsprue Mountains, Stark Mounds, and Tors Hills
This huge region covers the most of the western quarter of the Flanaess. It is here that the Giant Slayers of the Lost Lands originated. The majority of tiants which reside here are fire, frost, hill, and stone. Giants in these lands tend to live in clans and reside in caves and fortifications which reflect a more organized culture. You are used to fighting several giants at once and they do not gain any flanking bonus (see page 153 of the Players Guide). In addition, you retain any Dex bonus against such opponents because of your unqiue combat sytle of giant fighting.

MEETING OF THE GIANT SLAYERS
Once a year, on Planting Day 1, each region holds a meeting in which all members are expected to attend. The location is always the same and is usually a famous tavern, church, or well known location in the wilderness. Here, as many members as possible gather and discuss their exploits of the past year. The activity of the giants within their region is discussed in detail and plans are laid to foil any giant actions. In addition, giant related events of other regions are spoken of at these meetings and if necessary, members are dispatched to other regions to assist their fellow kin. At each meeting, the Vow of Courage is renewed for each member as they speak in unison. In times of great threat, additional gatherings may be called to deal with matters at hand.

The meetings may be very serious and organized or quickly become little more than excuses for drunken behavior depending upon the exact nature of the members attending. Giant Slayers residing from other regions will attend a meeting of another location if they are unable to reach their own area. In such cases, they are treated with considerable respect and honored throughout the night. If the tone of the meeting fails to meet the expectations of these guests, they often retire early for the night.

VOW OF COURAGE
The vow of courage is renewed at each meeting held by giant slayers. The oath is often spoken before entering into battle with giants be it spoken or silently thought. The Vow of Courage is as follows:

In times of peril
In times of mourning
When giants invade the lands of others
I shall uphold the Vow of Courage
I shall put aside my personal needs and safety
By my hands no giant shall live to conquer
By my blade I proclaim no giant shall flee
It is my sworn duty to rid the land of such vile creatures
That the innocent and weak shall not suffer
For I am a Giant Slayer of the Lost Lands
And I have spoken the Vow of Courage

VOW OR REMEMBERANCE
Whenever a comrade of the giant slayer is killed, a burial or cremation usually takes place. In such cases a member of the organization will speak the following words which is called the Vow or Remembrance

My fallen comrade (insert name and title of the deceased)
I (name and title of giant slayer) lay witness to your acts of bravery
For this day you lay down your life for those you have sworn to protect
Your courage shall carry your memory
Your honor be my guide
For this I speak the Vow of Remembrance
May your soul find peace this day

GIANT SLAYER REPUTATION
Your reputation supersedes you as a Giant Slayer of the Lost Lands. Upon reaching 5th level in this class, you develop a reputation where certain giants may wish to prove themselves worthy by defeating such a legendary giant slayer. Expect to be hunted down by specific individuals and perhaps even small bands who seek the glory of slaying you. Such encounters occur at the DM’s discretion but are likely to happen at least once a year.

How naughty have you been this year?

Well, assuming you been nice, what do you want? If you haven't been nice see the other thread.

Hi, there, I'm looking for a mathamatican who would be kind enough to calculate some numbers for me. Regretfully, my math skills are not the greatest (average). I'm sure you will find these calculations to be rather simple, but that's ok, it just means you will be done in a matter of minutes of seconds.

I'm trying to determine how many light years a person can fly at various speeds. The categories listed below are similar to Ranks in Marvel, so you can pretty much ignore those. The number of miles I have listed below is in every 2 seconds of game time. An action takes 2 seconds and a character gets 3 actions in a action sequence (round/about 6 seconds). Now I can figure out how many miles a character can travel in an action sequence but I have no idea how to determine how many light years the character can travel.

Category 13: Character travels 241,800 miles per 2 seconds. How many light years do they travel in a minute? An hour? A day?

Category 14: Character travels 372,000 miles per 2 seconds. How many light years do they travel in a minute? An hour? A day?

Category 15: Character travels 572,308 miles per 2 seconds. How many light years do they travel in a minute? An hour? A day?

Category 16: Character travels 880,474 miles per 2 seconds. How many light years do they travel in a minute? An hour? A day?

Category 17: Character travels 1,354,576 miles per 2 seconds. How many light years do they travel in a minute? An hour? A day?

Category 18: Character travels 2,083,963 miles per 2 seconds. How many light years do they travel in a minute? An hour? A day?

Category 19: Character travels 3,206,097 miles per 2 seconds. How many light years do they travel in a minute? An hour? A day?

I'm trying to find out if these flying movements will work for space travel. I'm also of the understanding that in comics you have to travel faster than the speed of light to break the time barrier, so I'm trying to figure out if they can do that as well. I believe the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second.

Finally does anyone know how many miles Superman can fly in a given period of time: second, minute, hour? How many light years can he travel in a given amount of time? I'm trying to make some comparisons with my numbers above. I'm not looking for a perfect match, but would like to hit a certain level of reasonableness if possible. The only place I know that Superman's speed would be documented is the DC game, but I had a hard time understanding the AP unit information in the game.

Hi there, its me again. Ok, over the past 3 years or so I have purchased Campaign Cartographer products. Apparently I don't learn. I have struggled with CC2, CC3, and various add on's over these 3 years. Something always goes wrong, I get various error messages, missing files, incompatable with Vista, you name it, I've dealt with it. I have writtent to the company for help and despite friendly suggestions, the programs are so touchy that I cannot escape the gremlins that dwell within.

My solution is to give up, take the loss, and move on. So I'm looking for another map making program that will work for me, which isn't as touchy, downloads easily, compatable with Vista, etc. etc. etc.

My map making skills are pretty basic but here's what I would like it to do.....

1. Make outdoor maps that look nice..continents, hills, mountains, glaciers, forests, deserts, etc.
2. Have features which work for futuristic settings such as developing space ships, futuristic buildings, space ports, that sort of thing.
3. Must be compatable with VISTA.
4. Price not a big deal.

Please provide your suggestions which feature items 1 and 2 above. I would love to see a website or find out what store to contact where I could find it, perhaps sample maps on the internet.

I'm tired of the program fight and just want to move on to something simpler.

Hi there, its me again. I have purchased a few campaign cartographer products over the past couple of years and been extremely frustrated with them. Here is my current issue....

I have CC3 downloaded and know how to use its basic functions, well enough to suit me at this point. I recently purchased Pro Fantasy product Cosmographer Pro to design some futuristic things for my Legion game. Problem is that I can't get it to download correctly.

Once I downloaded it, the screen starts flashing wildly making any use of the computer impossible unless I restart it. I contacted the company and they gave me the following email response.

I’m guessing you tried to install Cosmographer Pro into CC3? If this is the case, you need to uninstall & reinstall:

1) Using Windows Add & remove programs, uninstall both CC3 & Cosmographer Pro
2) Install CC3
3) Install only the compatibility update for Cosmographer
4) Apply the CC3 update patch
5)
Test it & let me know if it is still not working correctly.

Linda Kekumu

So this is what I did. Problem is no where in here did she tell me to install Cosmographer. I checked my system and couldn't find any CC3 program or Cosmographer. I then downloaded CC3, that went fine. I then clicked the link for compatability update for Cosmographer she game me in her email and hit save after it downloaded. The screen started flashing so I turned off the computer. I then turned it back on and saw that I had a icon for the download on my desktop. I then went to the CC3 update patch link she provided me in the email and hit save. Again the screen starting flashing so I turned it off. I restarted the computer and again I had a icon on the desktop for that as well. Since things were not working the way it is, I tried loading Cosmographer, again screen flashes.

I sent her an email to clairfy the directions and asking why I don't download the actual Cosmographer program I bought. Problem is it will be a week or so before I hear from them. I also asked if my problem was because of Vista and not an older system.

So if you have any computer knowledge and would be interested in providing some useful advice other than "Wait for a response" (I'm to impatient and getting highly irritated AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!) Please tell me what to do differently to get these programs to work. All I want to do is make a game, play it, make pretty pictures, and move on in life.

Ok, this is my 3rd attempt to start this thread. Paizo apparently doesn't like it because it keeps getting eaten.

For several years now I have been using wet erase square grid mats. I'm thinking about upgrading to something new. The thing is, I'm really not all that sure what is out there; so I'm asking for suggestions. Here's what I would like....

1. Something that is adaptable from encounter to encounter. No preset can't change pictures. Something I can make my own map on.
2. Something that isn't messy.
3. Provides a playing surface about 4' x 6' in size. Currently I use 2 very large mats pushed together to achieve this area.
4. Something that works good for superheroes.
5. Cost....optional but I would be reluctant to spend over $75-100 on something.

I've seen some things such as dungeon tiles from WOTC and they are prepainted and very limited to what's on them. I've also seen the plastic pieces you can get to make a 3d dungeon (they have a floor and 2 walls) and you can link pieces together. Nice to look at but bad for superheroes and they don't seem very adaptable to me...you pretty much play what you have for pieces. I need something very flexible.

If you have any suggestions, please tell me about it, describe what you can and cannot do, and if you can provide a link so I can see a picture of it that would be great. Also if you know where I can go to shop for such items online or if they are available through gaming stores.

I know this is a bit of a stretch, but I'll ask anyway.....Does anybody have a good idea how to deal with measuring and keeping track of miniature location when it comes to having people flying. For example, character #1 is flying through the air at 100' up. Character #2 is 75' in the air and 25' to character #1 right side. Spaceship battles, same issue...trying to deal with not just across the surface but also up in the air as well. Any ideas?

I have been using wet erase square grid mats for several years now and I was thinking about upgrading to something new. I am a bit out of touch with what's new for miniature playing surfaces though, so I thought I would try and get some unput here.

As many know, I've moved on to super-heroes vs. D&D; with that in mind let's talk playing surfaces. Here's what I would like....

1. Something that I can add all the detail I want on.
2. Something that isn't messy.
3. Has a very large playing surface (approx. 4' x 6' in size). I would be ok with buying two mats or two whatevers to cover such a large area.
4. Something that might be good for overal superhero play.
5. Expense.....well I am more interested in the above factors first, so give me a variety to choose from.

One thing I would like to have is something that could "somehow" handle miniature use for flying superheroes. I know this is propably impossible but I'm looking for ideas. How can I accurately measure distance upwards between characters (as in this her is 100' in the air and this one is 80' feet in the air and 45' to the left", well you most likely get the idea. Does anyone have any suggestions here as well.

Welcome to the thread called Oooops did I do that? Here, we the posters do the most ridiculous and terrible things, most of which have horrible global consequence. The first poster states what horrible event will occur. The scenario should be silly and with horrible consequences. They then use the spoiler tag to state what event the next poster must have done to cause the event to occur. The spoiler tag should be something fairly common in order to have it happen.

The next poster first opens the spoiler of the previous poster. If they did do what the spoiler says, they must begin their post with "Ooops I did do that!" If they didn't do what the spoiler says, they start their post with "I did not do that!"

The new poster must then create a new horrible consequence for the forthcoming poster in exactly the same manner. They create the event, create the spoiler, and the thread continues in this manner. Eventaully, those of us who "did do that" will be able to claim responsibility for the most horrendous things the earth has ever seen.

Confused yet? Here's an example....

The United States governement has a secret project in the works to eradicate all of the goldfish in the world that live in fishbowls.

Spoiler:
You killed all of the goldfish if you just woke up!

Hi and welcome to Ooops....did I do that!

This is the thread where we, the posters get to do anything and everything insanely wrong and have little or no real consequences to our actions. The idea is for the first poster to say what terrible event will happen if the next poster places a post on this thread. The second poster must respond to the previous poster by telling them what they will do to prevent the said event.

Poster #1: There is a secret government project set to eradicate all of the goldfish within fishbowls throughout the world. It will happen if....

Spoiler:
You live in the western half of the United States

Ok, new idea for a game, call it truth or lie. The poster recounts an event that happened to them at any time in their life, it may be a truthful event or an outright lie. It is up to the other posters to decide which it is. You can participate in two ways, you can post a truth or lie, or you can respond to the truth or lie and state which you think it is and why. If you post a truth or lie scenario of yourself you need to respond back within a page or two to let the other posters know which it was a truth or a lie. I'll start.

When I was about 8 years old my Mom would always make cold cereal for me for breakfast. One morning while making my raison bran she accidently put salt on it instead of sugar. I told her it didn't taste good but she made me eat it anyway. Later that day she realized what she had done and apologized/ Truth or Lie?

I placed this thread here because I think it refers to the overall D&D community more than the 4th edition. I would like to ask people to list their character level and the amount of magic they have, perhaps minus potions and scrolls. Essentially, it would allow comparisons to be drawn from one to the other.

So what level are you and what do you have?
