Egan’s father raised him just outside of Opal, on the outskirts of the Jungle. He gathered fruits, and exotic flowers to sell in Opal to wealthy merchants and nobles. Egan would help him, but always got strange stares when he went into town with his father due to his mixed heritage, so he finally quit going, and spent most of his time in the Jungle. His father almost never mentioned his mother, except to say she was lovely and sweet, and died to early. He claims that she went into the Jungle and was never seen again. She must have been attacked by some ferocious creature, but her body was never found. Still she loved both Egan and his father and if she was alive she would come back.
Once Egan was deep in the forest trying to lose himself as he always did, when a sudden storm came up. He took shelter in a grove of thick trees, and would have been fine but for the sudden mudslide that almost did him in. He awoke sore and battered but lying on a soft bed of leaves and grass, and to the smell of roasting meet. That was his first meeting with Savagil. Savagil was also of mixed heritage, but his other half was orc. He claimed to be a member of a group called the Upland Rangers. They became fast friends and Savagil taught Egan much of the ways of the Jungle and its creatures. Finally when he came of age Egan joined the organization as well.

He is between jobs right now, as he watches the ship unload at the dock. Hmm, maybe there will be somebody on board who needs a guide into the Jungle. If not I’ll just wander back in a few days, and see how things are at the fort.
