History:

Edmund was born in the city of Vigil, the capital of Lastwall. His parents both serve (and still serve) in the local military. While his parents were away, the children were raised by their uncle, a priest of Erastil. Following in the footsteps of his three older siblings Edmund also joined the military upon coming of age.

Noting the young man's intelligence the Guard Captain assigned the boy to assist the city engineer. A task that young Edmund resented as it meant he wouldn't see combat. He spent a year studying under the older engineer, traveling to various field locations and directing the building of fortifications. He was occasionally sent to speak to scholars for his masters, including several seminars by the famous Professor Petros Lorrimor. During one of the seminars Edmund drew the Professor's attention with his fearless manner of asking questions, despite the snickers among the crowd. Over the next few days Edmund and the Professor continued to discuss military history and military engineering, also keeping in touch through letters over the years.

While Edmund and his master were visiting the western fortifications the installation came under attack by orcs. His valor during the battle drew the attention of Sir Albrecht, a paladin of Iomedae. He was taken on as a squire, and shortly thereafter initiated into the order. The nature of the conflict in Lastwall prevented Edmund from receiving a lot of formal religious training, but has made up for that in field experience.

Luckily for Edmund, his recent initiation gives him the freedom to travel to the funeral of the late Professor Petros Lorrimor.
