Well, the Index will already radiate magic, but it's quite unlikely that a spellbook would ever be found in its inventory.

That being said, I really like the item, and might use it in some things I run. It's a really fun, flavorful item that definitely has some utility, and I could see, on a character or two I've made in the past, picking up one or more.

Same with the Animated clothing. At the point you'd be able to afford the clothing, you'd also be able to afford other versions of carrying capacity stretching, and this one is much more flavorful than a simple bag of holding, at least, in my opinion.

I wish I could comment on pricing, or balance, or any of that, but it's almost 6AM and I'm running on little sleep regardless. If nothing else, these are really cool items that I'm definitely going to steal.

PS: The Cantrip Pearls look fine to me, too. It's not particularly powerful, but there are definitely times when I've wanted another cantrip or two.

Qadira

Now, I've got a question. Would you allow Spellbooks to be held by the index?

Otherwise, these are pretty cool items, that I quite enjoy. No idea on balance or pricing adjustments, though.

You don't actually have to do it in the morning. As long as you don't leave the range of the collective, you stay in the collective until you die, your Wisdom drops to 0, or the Tactician/vitalist kicks you out, and you can voluntarily leave as a free action.

Qadira

Male Human Bard 1/Barbarian 1

I'm terribly sorry. I saw all of the posts yesterday, but didn't want to post wen I got home, instead electing to take a nap at about 4 or 5 pm est, intending to post as soon as I got up. Here I am, at 6 am, having woken up about 20 minutes ago, and I'm walking back to school. Don't expect anything for at least an hour or so, a it's a 4 mile walk, but I'll try and get something up at school today.

On a related note, sleeping 13 hours or so makes me feel terrible.

Qadira

Those stats are definitely incorrect.

You've forgotten to drop the second 2 dice in each array.

Your stats should instead be:

13 12 13 14 6 9 16

Qadira

Male Human Bard 1/Barbarian 1

Yep, sorry. I'm on my phone at the moment, so I can't really do anything here, but I will be changing out bludgeoner. Once I get home tomorrow after my final exam, I'll make the necessary changes.

Qadira

Tacticians and Vitalists can both be really potent, the Vitalist as a super efficient healer, especially later, and the Tactician as a force multiplier. I've played a Vitalist or two to great effect, but haven't played with the tactician at all yet.

I've messed around with psionics in 3.5, but never played, and had a few experiences with psionics as far as PF is concerned, but for the most part, it's not part of the campaigns I'm involved with.

I'm just looking over my stat block and such before I make an alias, and once I've confirmed all of that, I'll get it up on one and post in here. My background isn't really coherent enough for me to really type it up, yet, but that'll go up as soon as I've got it.

Qadira

I somehow completely missed the Alternate Racial Traits. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

Qadira

I've gotten time to actually get things started, and so my character is incoming. I'll have him/her up sometime either today or tomorrow.

I assume that the answer to JHPace1's question regarding the Human Bonus feat on a humavian is a no?

Qadira

DM, I've sent you a PM. Just drawing attention to it.

Qadira

Y'know, Monkeygod, I contemplated putting forward a McIntyre Aegis? That shouldn't be too surprising for ya, but I thought you might like to hear it. This time, nice and Strength focused instead of Dexterity, but I think I'll pass on it this time.

mdt, that makes a lot of sense, and I'll keep it in mind. That being said, I've still not decided between it and a Vitalist, so there's certainly the possibility that I won't submit a McIntyre-Affiliated character at all. I so seldom get to play with psionics that it's such a tough choice, trying to figure out what to play.

Qadira

I am certainly interested in this. Probably going to go with Array 2, though I've no idea what I'd like to play. Currently, I'm thinking a Humavian Vitalist, though I'm not entirely sure what clan yet.

Another idea floating around in my head is a McIntyre Barbarian, using the Psionic Archetype for it in Psionics Augmented, which I can help provide details for you. tl;dr, the Raging Beast is a barbarian that gives up a fair bit of barbarian-ness for some partial manifesting as a psychic warrior, and a few other perks.

Qadira

A full application's got to be supplied by the 25th.

Qadira

DM:
Glad to hear you like the idea. You certainly don't have to give it a boost, but it'd certainly be appreciated if you did. Provided I'm chosen, of course. I'm in a class at the moment, but I'll work on a backstory when I get home, and should have it up by some time tonight.

The reason that recruitment will remain open for such a long period of time is that I am taking a vacation from the 19th to the 27th. This gives everyone plenty of time to get their characters in.

The 25th is the deadline.

I know this is a bit barebones, but some stuff came up that made it so that this wasn't really the top thing on my mind, and I've just gotten around to making the character. Wanted to get this up here so I could get my name on that Big ol' List.

I'll have a backstory up at some point, but I'd like to refrain from making a profile until selection is over.

DM:
This is gonna sound really weird, and it honestly is, but how do you feel about, instead of a 1-handed slashing weapon for a black blade, a hook hand, which is a light slashing weapon? Its stats leave something to be desired, but I really like how it feels for the character. It's also got a fair bit of potential story-wise, as the hook hand of a long-forgotten pirate or something. I was thinking of, if you were okay with this, of course, starting with my hand, and then losing it sometime between levels 2 and 4. I don't mind getting the hook hand early, albeit non-magically, or later, as long as it's not too far ahead of 3, if that's alright. Alternatively, I can go along with a more traditional Magus, or potentially use a different character for my entry. Just wanted to run it by you and see what you thought about it.

Qadira

I had a few ideas for a character for a S&S game, so I'll narrow it down and get something up soon.

Qadira

I sent the DM a PM a while back. TL;DR, I've dropped out, but will be following the game.

Qadira

Tie My Shoelace:
Alrighty, then. Thank you for the clarification.

Qadira

Tie My Shoelace:
That's not quite the way the Elan Failed Transformation would work, unless you'd like it to work in such a fashion. I can't tell if you're giving me that race to use or not, but I'm guessing it is indeed. I'll continue working on my backstory and stuff, and I'll get something up in the next day or so, I hope, IRL allowing.

Qadira

Tie My Shöelace wrote:
I'll get back to you on the Elan thing this weekend after I have looked over it and formed a preliminary ruling.

Alrighty then.

Qadira

I didn't get an (x new) update on this thread on the list I've got running, so I didn't realize the full thread was up.

Before I continue with the character I started on, is it possible to play an Elan, as an experiment of the Empire? As a failed transformation, described in Expanded Psionics. Long story short, the procedure is a failure, and you retain 1-2 racial traits of your base race.

In either case, I will be submitting Cruven the Craven, who has deviated quite a bit from my original concept. Instead of using his fear to help him force others into submission, he'll be using his fear as a survival tool, to combat things that frighten him, and let's be honest, that's quite a few things.

He'll either be a halfling, or a Failed Transformation:Halfling Elan, depending on whether you allow it, of course.

Qadira

Sorry I haven't been posting, I got back from my trip and didn't see my (x new) pop up.

The next feat I plan on taking is Expanded Knowledge: Expansion.

Main Alias is Edgar Lamoureux.

Magic Item I'd like to get would be Mender's Vestments, preferably the version giving an extra d6 of healing on the Transfer Wounds ability. If need be, I can give an item description, pricing, etc.

Qadira

Sorry for the lack of posting, my (x new) dropped.

I'll get started working on a backstory now, and while Level 2 is more lenient as far as mechanically speaking, I don't think it'll affect my backstory too much. We'll see, though. :P

Qadira

That's fine, don't worry about it. Real life always comes before games.

Might I recommend the rule of psionics being like magic, if they are allowed. It makes things easier for detection, protection and the like, and it'd also mean psions are affected by the magical turbulence you described previously. I think it adds too much complication to have both systems independent of each other.

Well, that's the way Psionics are meant to be by default.

Very well. I certainly wouldn't want to upset the balance of your campaign, and as such, will acquiesce to any demands of yours, provided I'm picked when the actual recruitment begins.

Qadira

I do have a question regarding available classes. Are you open to 3rd party classes?

If so, I have interest in playing a Dread, which, though I may be wrong, I feel could fit in quite nicely in the prison. Someone who pushes his weight around and using the fears of those around him. Definitely not a good guy.

Qadira

Male Human Bard 1/Barbarian 1

Well, it's one player, two characters. Unfortunate, in any case.

Ralph is in this for the long haul, in any case.

Qadira

I've got almost everything done, just need to write it up. GM Wolf, I've decided to go with the Life mystery, and as I said, the Tongues curse. The Method I've selected is Soulthief, as well.

Edit: Another person? I can only barely fit in the 8 we've got into the Collective as it is, and it's nowhere near the standard action needed to swap people into/out of the collective to heal them in combat. Not saying "Don't add this person," I'm just saying that I won't be able to cover 9 people at all times. That being said, I should still be able to manage, depending on how things pan out.

Edit 2: I'm not actually sure if there are still 8 people in here, actually, now that I think about it.

Qadira

Male Human Bard 1/Barbarian 1

Sorry to hear about your loss. Take what time you need. Real life always comes before games, and we'll be here when you feel you're ready to come back.

Qadira

Who said I don't have fun healing? :P

That being said, I'll have things to do besides healing, don't worry about that :)

Qadira

Alrighty, sounds good to me. When I get home, I'll write up a tentative stat block for you. Still a few decisions to be made, as I said in PMs. This character should be able to fulfill the necessary healing capacity, in any case.

Qadira

I wasn't saying it was terrible, I'm just saying it's the worst of this particular array that I've gotten :P.

Modified, I think I'll run with 18/14/14/14/11/12. I can build what I want with this. Interestingly, if Vitalist ends up being allowed, then the large group size will actually make my job of healing a fair bit easier.

Looking at a Race-Undetermined Vitalist 2/Cleric 2, with Ability scores as follows:

STR 11
DEX 14
CON 14
INT 12
WIS 18
CHA 14

On my phone at the moment, so I won't be actually making a character, but this is what I'm thinking at the moment.

Now, concerning these boons, what do you mean by that?

Edit: I'll read the recruitment thread.

Actually, an interesting race choice could be Elan as a specimen, though Human would also work for me.

Edit 2: The Siren race given on the first page might be nice to work with, and psionics fits the flavor of the Siren rather well.

Qadira

5d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 6, 5) = 17 14
5d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 1, 6) = 16 14
5d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 4, 3) = 15 12
5d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 5, 4) = 15 12
5d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 1, 6) = 19 15
5d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 2, 6) = 19 14
5d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 4, 6) = 16 14

I've gotta say, I think that's probably the worst 5d6b3 I've ever rolled.

So, 15,14,14,14,14,12. Not great for a healer. How does Moving 5 points work? Just a straight +5/-5? Can it be divided between scores?

Qadira

It's been a few hours, give the DM time. I doubt the problem, if there is one, will be mechanical, so much as flavorful, with Android.

I have a questionregarding traits. I'm trying to convert a character that I played for a brief time in a RotRL campaign to a marksman, and the campaign trait I used at the time was Outlander(Exile), which is, if I remember correctly, available in the APG, or here, on the PFSRD. It's not technically a campaign trait for RotRL, but it is a campaign trait for a campaign that was set in Sandpoint, and has been used by a few of my DMs in the past for it.

Cruven Tallcrippler's original backstory was, put shortly, that of a former slave, working for the Bellflower Society, and stationed out of Kintargo, both causing some small havoc and escorting slaves on outbound ships, destined for Varisia, specifically Magnimar. After getting overzealous, Cruven needed to lay low for a while, and sets out from Magnimar with a small sum of money allotted to him for the time being. Finding himself in Sandpoint, both his luck and money having run out, he starts doing odd jobs, and potentially putting his skills to good use.

I was looking at Lovestruck as a potential drawback, and though I have no say in the matter of picking who the love interest is (provided I'm selected to begin with), it could be reasonable to have it be one of the slaves I'd've escorted, or perhaps a halfling NPC/PC, if there are any others.

Regarding Traits, I was looking at Outlander(exile) above, Successful Shirker, and Bellflower Tiller, which, for whatever reason, is no longer available on d20pfsrd.

Qadira

I saw that, but it's gun-focused, and I don't really want to make a gunner of any sort.

Also, small thing. You can hyperlink things by using [ url=http://www.d20pfsrd.com/psionics-unleashed/classes/marksman/archetypes/dreamscarred-press/kaigun]Whatever you want it to say[/url], but without the space in the beginning tag.

Like this, for example

Qadira

Psychic Warrior is fun and all, though I've never played one. I've never made a slinger, though, and I've also wanted to check out Marksman for a while.

Qadira

Alrighty, thank you kindly. :)

That pretty much means I can create my character, though I'm not familiar with the Ultimate Campaign stuff.

Qadira

Huh. Didn't think I'd see that, Wahrheit.

@Crusty, is there any verdict on the warslinger trait working with Halfling Sling-Staves? There are other ways I could make the character work, but they would also require house-rules. Unfortunately, there's very little support for the Sling Staff, even in the book it came in, and Rapid Reload only works with Crossbows and Firearms.

Qadira

Level 1 HP is always maximum, Gobo. Otherwise, the potential for character death is usually far too high.

Qadira

Hmmmm.... A Halfling Marksman, focused in the Halfling Sling Staff, might be fun. That's what I'm looking at, right now. A question, though, simply because it's hard to use sling-staves. Does a Halfling Sling Staff count as a sling for the purposes of the Alternate Racial Trait "Warslinger"? It could be argued either way, so I'm curious as to your verdict.

DM Crusty, any verdict on this?

Qadira

I wasn't, by any means, saying his team was badly balanced, I was just saying that the roles are an unnecessary restriction that far too many still adhere to (IMO).

Qadira

Well, anderlorn, that's a great pidgeonholing of a party, well done.

In my experience, the "roles" of a party don't need to be filled, per se. For instance, in a 3.5 eberron game I'm in, the 3 characters are 2 fighters and a dusk blade, and we've gotten past everything so far, with little to no DM changing of what is already written. All that saying "We need this, this, and this" has done, at least in my experience, is make people play characters that they otherwise don't want to play. YMMV, of course, but I hardly see the "necessity" in any of the given roles. While nice, they can be forgotten with a bit of planning and thought.

Edit: I sincerely didn't mean this to be as snarky as it came off. Terrible headache, boring class, etc etc has worn me down today. I apologize for being rude, though I stand by my points.

Qadira

Hmmmm.... A Halfling Marksman, focused in the Halfling Sling Staff, might be fun. That's what I'm looking at, right now. A question, though, simply because it's hard to use sling-staves. Qadira

Sounds like that could work finee to me.

I'm conflicted between creating a Marksman of some sort or a Cryptic. So many options.

Edit: Maybe a dread, actually. I keep meaning to make one, but still haven't played one.

Qadira

I'm certainly interested in this, though I'm not at my computer at the moment. For now, I'm simply doting for interest.

Qadira

Well, through multiclassing in Trapper Ranger, Artificer, and Spymaster, I could get kinda close, but it wouldn't have the versatility I was looking for, nor the social aptitude. Not to mention the MADness. If I tried to pull it off, I'd be more of a liability. :P

Qadira

I can't think of a way to really get this character to work cohesively in Pathfinder unfortunately. While tempting, I think this is gonna be a pass for me. Sorry for inactivity, but I have been watching the thread, and enjoying what's been going on. I'll probably watch the game as it progresses.

He'd likely work as a p.o.w. in this campaign, thinking i'd go kensai magus for class and pick up the trait Blade of Mercy to represent his oath against killing.

Soon, in a 3.5 game in an IRC channel I'm in, I'll be playing a Half-Elf warblade with the Mark of Storm, devoting almost all of my feats to Dragonmarks. The full build uses Warblade, Storm Sentry, and Eternal Blade, if I remember correctly.
