Male Human Bard 1/Barbarian 1

I don't really have a reason for late posting, I simply didn't see messages had been put up. Been checking every day or two, and yesterday simply wasn't one of those days, I guess.

The Exchange

Certainly, at the early levels, it's great, but it very quickly (in my opinion) turns paltry. Between dr 3 and fast healing two, though, that's quite a lot of hit points to have to work through.

The Exchange

I know I'm planning to write my character up using the werewolf template, at the very least. I find that it's a little more reasonable at early levels, but stays relevant mechanically at higher levels.

The Exchange

Perhaps, instead of a template, he could bring the Soulknife sidebar into play and allow you access to gifted blade manifesting?

The Exchange

I'm interested, certainly. Perhaps an investigator of some sort, unless, perhaps, some third party products are on the table. Somehow, in all my gaming, I've only participated in a few sessions of Rise of the runelords.

The Exchange

Personally, I find the DR 3/silver a little more reasonable at such a low level, from the werewolf template, as opposed to the 10/silver from lycanthrope, but YMMV. They're similar enough (and both +1 CR,) that I think it'd be an easy switch from lycanthrope to werewolf if it's allowed. I think I'd prefer werewolf, having actually looked at them side by side now.

Once I get on my computer next, I'll start hashing out an Unshackled Rager!

Edit: Fury, I love the moonlight Meditant archetype, and soulknives in general. I'm a little hesitant to bring one, simply because I'd rather embrace the ferality and beastiness of lycans for this, but it's definitely a neat, fun archetype! I'm bringing one to a Strange Aeons campaign a friend of mine is running.

The Exchange

Lords of the Wild Playtest, from Dreamscarred Press!

While you may or may not consider the Werewolf template therein, I'm mostly drawn to the idea of the Bloodrager Archetype it contains, the Unshackled Rager.

The Exchange

In order of preference? 2,1, and I'm not sure if I'd try for involvement in the other two, if I'm being honest. Never really enjoyed the WoD stuff, myself, but if I were able to actually sit down and learn the Chaosium ruleset, I might be down to try 3. I guess, 3 slightly edges out 4.

The Exchange

I'd be pretty hype for a PF werewolf game, especially if Dreamscarred Press' Lords of the Wild playtest were to be allowed.

The Exchange

Wrath of the Righteous and Mummy's Mask both sound pretty neat. I'm not particularly familiar with either other than the basic theme.

The Exchange

Ah well. Have fun, y'all!

The Exchange

Definitely dotting this for later. Would you be okay with one of the Psionic kineticist archetypes from Psionics Augmented: Kineticists, provided I can get information procured for you? The short story of it is a summoning kineticist, using Astral Constructs, but I can definitely find you a link.

I've been using the dreamscarred Psionics materials since they were released, and the 3.5e Psionics system before that. I've got a pretty solid grasp on most of the classes, though I'm not as familiar with, say, cryptics.

The Exchange

Just checking in, and hoping deliberations are going well. The wishes of good luck remain, however, for all of my fellow applicants!

The Exchange

Male Human Bard 1/Barbarian 1

To my knowledge, I've completed all necessary changes. Let me know if I'm wrong, though!

The Exchange

Good luck, y'all!

The Exchange

Ignore me. Unfortunately, I can't get anything I really like via Skald, Bloodrager, or Barbarian along those lines. I can't figure out any other concepts I really think I can get behind, so I'll simply bow out. Happy gaming, y'all!

The Exchange

Hmmmm...... I've got an idea I think is interesting, combining Barbarian, Variant Multiclassing Oracle with the Bones mystery, the Spirit Totem line of rage powers.... I'll have to see what I can actually put together, and how viable it might be, but I have high hopes, if nothing else. I'll get some crunchy stuff, or at least try it out, in the morning, provided Variant Multiclassing is okay.

The Exchange

Dang, I thought I had a shot. Congratulations, all who made it! It must've been tough on poor Evillain, with all of the stellar applications!

The Exchange

I am certainly potentially interested. Are you adverse to Third Party Products? Specifically, I'm curious about Dreamscarred Press, I'd like to play, I think, a Knight-Chandler Mystic from their Path of War:Expanded book, focused on Solar Wind, maybe some Tempest Gale and Elemental Flux alongside. If you don't like Path of War, but are still open to Dreamscarred Press, a Soulbolt would certainly cover the job of "Ranged Damage Dealer," I should think.

mdt:
I'll put these on my character sheet somewhere when I get home, but: +1 Armor doesn't appear to need a spell, I assumed it didn't need a power, either, just 3x Bonus ML from the creator. Belt of Constitution and Headband of Charisma are both derived from Animal Affinity psionic power, and the resistance cloak is derived from the FOrtify power.

I could have sworn I sent you a PM with images taken from the Psionics Augmented: Soulknives, with the entirety of the Brutality Blade archetype?

I don't get any bonus power points from Brutality Blade or anything, anyway, and my Blade Skills are both available at 2, if I'm not mistaken. At least, according to Ultimate Psionics, I don't know if Errata has been issued for Freezing Bolt or something, but Focused Offense has always been intended to get Wisdom Focused soulknives off the ground at 2.

When I get home, I'll divide those bonuses, no problem.

I knew I had forgotten to post something in that recruitment thread. I've got a background written for him somewhere, I'll find it when I get home.

Personally, I've never been fond of "needing" healing in any capacity, anyway. Not having a heavy bruiser-type is a little more worrisome, but I've been through some strange games, I think we can make it work. :)

The Exchange

What shall be your answer to the Shifter from Eberron? Just use skinwalkers, or some sort of conversion? While I said psionics earlier I'm actually kind of interested in playing a shifter of some sort. Specifically, I was thinking either Unshackled Rager or Moonlight Meditant from The Lords of the Wild Playtest , from Dreamscarred Press.

EDIT: Missed a line in your wall, now know what shifter to use.

The Exchange

I'm certainly interested. With it being such a large part of Eberron, what with the kalashtar and inspired, would you allow Dreamscarred Press's psionics adaptation?

The Exchange

I'd absolutely be interested in any of the above, but specifically, Carrion Crown has my interest.

The Exchange

Regular wealth by level for level 6, then?

The Exchange

I plan on doing solid ranged damage, though likely nothing super spectacular, along with some lesser Crowd Control, mostly movement impairing effects. How should we handle gear?

The Exchange

I had forgotten how disproportionate the stat allocation was for this game. 10/10/12/13/18/18 is quite the array. That's a shame, I wanted to spread them out a bit more. I've got a basic statblock, sans gear, that I can post whenever, and with that, I think, Arthur "Art" Coleda is finished other than some more fleshing out.

I've just realized what time it is, and I've got to get ready for work. When I get home tonight, I'll do whatever last minute finagling I need for the sheet, as well as some fleshing out of Art, the Coleda clan, small though it is, and anything else I might need, mdt. If anything comes to mind, just let me know :)

The Exchange

Yeah, that's the issue I was having. I made a Blade Adept//Inspired Blade, but I couldn't really get into the character. I briefly considered dipping into Magus for Spell Combat and Broad Study, but if I don't feel strongly about the character to begin with (Especially with such fierce competition), it doesn't make too much of a difference.

The Exchange

It feels like my first idea, at least for this campaign, was a little overzealous, but I'd like to keep with the same theme. I think I'd like to mix up melee and ranged combat, together, by taking the Brutality Blade archetype, but I'd be focusing on ranged combat with the Soul Archer prestige. The Brutality Blade, if you don't have it, has a lower base enhancement bonus overall, but gradually gain the ability to push the mind blade a bit farther than a regular mind blade, albeit for a limited number of rounds per day, as per barbarian. They can also pick up a few archetype-specific blade skills, but otherwise, they use Charisma for soulknife-related things, and that's about it. Now that I look at it.... the Rage Blade class feature itself doesn't seem to be advanced by classes that advance mind blades. This bodes poorly, but I'm sure it wouldn't end up being /that/ big a deal, just a bit of missed opportunity.

Nonetheless, I think that's the direction I'd like to take, mechanically. Fluffwise, I think I'd like to be a minor clansman of the Celestradan Halvavians, looking to prove his worth to the clan proper and increase the rank, wealth, and fame of his family, one way or another.

The Exchange

I still haven't really been able to get a full submission together I felt strongly about. The Inspired Arcanist is kinda neat, but not terribly interesting, being an exaggerated magus without spell combat, and I can't think of any particularly meaningful backstory stuff for it. I had a few other ideas banging around in my head, but the same issue of "I can't see a place in this setting where they'd fit in /and/ be a valid choice for this campaign" pops up. Y'all have fun, it looks like Samnell's gonna make this quite a ride. :)

Looks good for you, there's a good bit of interest for replacement!

Yep, 2014 I think. And yes, interest is better than shutting it down. :)

Easily! Hopefully I can get a worthwhile submission ready, and actually have a shot ay getting back in!

The Exchange

It's funny, I was just thinking myself of trying to get a Soulbolt/Soul Archer working with two weapon fighting. I'll have to reacquaint myself with things, fluffwise, but I think that's the direction I'd like to take things (even though Mind Arrow is a one handed weapon)!

The Exchange

No worries. I think the only way I'm going to be weaving culverin shots into full attacks, if selected, will be before or after melee attacks, anyway. Rapid reload only brings a reload down to a standard action, and I believe alchemical rounds would further reduce that to a move action. While that allows for a shot per round, so does the beneficial bandolier.

The Exchange

I can already tell ya, I'm still interested, and likely will be still in November. I'll likely not be applying to the other game; I'm much more interested in the direction this one appeared to be going in.

The Exchange

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My plan is to be a mixture of consistent melee damage, rogue skills, and a bit of face, at the very least the defensive half via Sense Motive. Once Studied Combat comes online at level 4, Udo will be super accurate in combat, especially with Swift Study, so I'll likely be adding in some of the Investigator Talents that debuff on-hit on studied targets, for a little bit of debuffing without an extra action cost.

It's a tough choice between infusion and mutagen for me at level 3. Actually, now that I think of it...I could take both. Underworld Inspiration is also tempting for me... Too many good choices, I'm amazed I've never looked at Investigator before.

The Exchange

Alright, just wanted to make sure a Culverin wouldn't be hugely out of place to begin with.

One last question: Would you be willing to allow for an alchemical cartridge specifically made for the culverin, priced somewhere around 4 times the cost of a regular alchemical round? As-is, culverin requires 4 doses of black powder and 4 handfuls of pellets.

The Exchange

Nah, it's all good, don't worry about it Antonius. Thematically, very different characters, mechanically very different characters, just both geared well towards the Spy of the kingdom. All is well :)

The Exchange

Hey now, I'm not discounted yet as Master Spy! Empiricist Investigator // Inspired Blade Swashbuckler should lead to plenty of skill points, and Master Spy fits my written backstory to a T, though it's possible that the backstory may conflict with what Maynotcare has in store, who knows?

The Exchange

I put all this in an edit a little farther up, but it would likely be signficantly more visible in a post of its own.

I think I've got a character just about ready.

Right now, I'm thinking something along the lines of Viktor having sought out Zummabu, on one hand attempting to learn proper wizardry, though his borderline recklessness and haste lead him to cast a tad bit off the cuff compared to a wizard, and trying to find any information regarding his family heirlooms, the rapier and buckler he wields, nonmagical (as far as he knows) relics of an age long past. (The buckler really is, and will continue to be, nonmagical, lest he get it enchanted. Might go crazy thinking some ancient relative is speaking to him through the sword once he hits three, though.) Would that be a decent fit, once more thoroughly fleshed out?

Also: Do you mind if I paid the difference in cost between the Masterwork Rapier granted by Blade Adept and a gold-plated version? I don't see any real issues, it's 40gp for a slightly more fancy sword, but I figured I ought to run it past you regardless.

Is there seriously a place called 'Methwood' in Unther? Great name :P I've been enjoying your play as Feliks in our Strange Aeons campaign, so I think I'll consider some ideas for a character here. I am wondering if there is a good gestalt combination to make using over-sized weapons worthwhile? Hmmm... There are so many possibilities with gestalt though.

:)

I'm sure the Methwood was named in the 1970s, when meth was just a nonsense syllable that sounded good.

I'm doing an orc ranger with an oversize bow & arrows in Dragon's Giantslayer game, mostly powered by a campaign trait. If you go with fighter, the Titan Fighter archetype is all about the swinging streetlights and hurling cars fun times. Titan Mauler for Barbarians is similar.

If you want to even out the penalties a bit, something with an on-demand butt for attacks would be a good pairing. That could be favored enemy, smite, bardic performance, inquisitions... Plus there's sure to eventually be buffs within the party. Lots of options out there.

A Titan Fighter/Dawnflower Dervish wielding a large Greatsword might be a lot of fun and evokes some great imagery. It's really too bad Titan Fighter loses Weapon Training with all those shiny new Advanced Weapon Training options available now though.
if you throw Goliath Druid into the mix, you get free enlarge persons... stacked with a large weapon which then becomes HUGE as you become large...

I wouldn't call them free, but the spontaneous casting is awfully nice, and who /doesn't/ want a dinosaur hanging around?

That's definitely not a problem, it almost certainly fits better that my character retain the poison abilities from Investigator, anyway, given the backstory I've already got written up.

Good luck with the, er, hurricane?

Former hurricane, as of now at least. Post-tropical cyclone, I think they call it. All I've really got now is wind, and power will most likely be returned today or tomorrow.

The Exchange

I don't anticipate power being out for all of the next five days, but I have lost power thanks to Hurricane Matthew blowing through. I'll try and get my narrative finished through some means in the meantime.

I'll try and throw something together, but I'm not sure quite how content I'll be. Perhaps a magus lf some sort, maybe a mindblade, with a side of Swashbuckler or Investigator. I'll look into some combinations with classes I frankly forgot existed tomorrow, or maybe Monday if I don't have any time.

The Exchange

Would you consider Dreamscarred Press material? I'm sure I could whip up a Soulknife//X of some sort that could be interesting, or perhaps a Marksman//Rogue or Monk of some sort.

The Exchange

Personally, I was thinking of converting the character I played in a tabletop Kingmaker game, although not terribly far, from an Alchemist to a polymath (dreamscarred press) investigator//...something.

The Exchange

I'd definitely be down for gestalt kingmaker. What's your view on Dreamscarred Press material, out of curiosity?

The Exchange

Pearl: I'm pretty sure that was changed with the Ultimate Equipment FAQ, it's had shield spikes in all three of the other printings. I forgot about that little weird detail.

That said, untwisting iron seems quite the nice fit, though you could really go any way with it.
