Cursing as he sees Garavel take two spears, Dullen looks o his right before shouting, "Gnolls!" Leveling his crossbow and firing a bolt at one of the gnolls, the sullen mercenary suddenly shows why he had been successful so far as a mercenary.

Listening to the conversation to take his mind of the expanse of hot plains that is laid out ahead of him Dullen thinks, What a fool this man seems, even with all his great stories. Risking his neck for a woman he can't even keep track of. At least my reason for being here is more concrete. With that, he thinks of what he can do with the coin once it is in his hand. He new a particular vendor in the Night Stalls that would give him a great deal on some product, or even the night with some pleasant company. Who needs blood-oaths and such nonsense when physical comforts can satisfy just as well. With that, Dullen just scowls as the others continue to converse.

Though as sullen looking as he had been the previous day, the lack of alcohol in his system has made the nervous twitch much more pronounced. However, once the group in on the road, and Valik starts his tale, Dullen seems to calm a bit and actually seems to be paying attention to what the Ulfen man had to say. Woulda been nice to see the world like this man has. At least to have gotten out of Katapesh and somewhere cooler. Though he was garbed in clothing appropriate to the hot climate, Dullen was already sweating as he constantly readjusted the wrapped crossbow that was slung across his shoulder

Head bobbing towards the door that opens, it takes a moment for his eyes to adjust to the glare. A futile moment as the door shuts once more, forcing his eyes to once again adjust. Once he is able to see, he lays eyes upon probably the most impressive man he had ever seen. And here he thought Asad was impressive. Leaning over to Asad, he mutters, "Hey Asad, don't look now, but looks like the caravan might get a new resident strong man."

Asad's comment actually elicits a smile from the otherwise glum and skittish Dullen. Respectable establishment, huh? Yeah, I guess I gotta remember that this isn't my usual haunt back in Katapesh.
"Sorry fer that ma'am. I guess our exuberance knows no bounds. We'll be sure ta behave ourselves while here." With that, Dullen drinks from his mug, seeming to return to whatever place the mercenary normally goes when he isn't speaking.

In response to Travis' statement, Dullen says, "Ya can pay your own way. I'm not gonna le some man drink on ma own coin." As all the activity happens in he inn, Dullen jumps a little at the sudden noise, his hand slipping to he dagger sheathed in his boot. However, realizing that is was nothing, he calms himself and downs the last of his beer before putting the mug on he counter top. Well that didn't help none. Hopefully tha next one will do tha trick, he thinks to himself as he sullenly waits for he next round.

His eyes darting to look a Asad as he large man spoke, the shorter, skinnier man seems to eye him nervously. Though bearing less scars than Asad, Dullen was far from being a charmer. Garbed in simple clothing and bearing the obvious marks of a man who has some experience with Pesh, Dullen could hardly be seen as the type that would take up mercenary work. However, looking past the nervous twitch was the same cold look that Asad had, the mark of a man who had lived a hard life and done what was necessary to survive.
"Um, well how about we just start off with a beer. Word is that it's gonna be a hot one today."

I agree with Valik on most points. With me being on US Pacific time, it is quite a diverse set of time zones that we all share. As for the balance, I think it is possible to have a good amount of social interaction. Dullen might not be the mos talkative, but he takes orders from he one who hired him. That and the best way to portray his Pesh addiction is through social interactions. A paladin traveling with a bunch of low life mercenaries, how can there NOT be interesting interactions that spawn from that. Oh, and I will apologize now if future poss happen to be missing the letter t, my keyboard is acting up and I haven't had a chance to look into fixing it. The key still works, but it isn;t as sensitive as it use to be.

Well, I am playing an archery focused ranger already in another AP I am playing in, so I will go switch hitter with this one. Will probably go the two handed combat path with a few feats thrown in for ranged competency.

Edit: That would be 12, 15, 8, 15, 13, 12. A pretty fair balance of high for survivability and low for character quirk, cool. By he way Kip, awesome merc pic.
