B6 I believe actually shows the tunnel ending in the little room, not as a dead end. The reason for the dots I think is to show that it doesn't go straight into the room, but rather is like a hole in the cells ceiling.

Spoiler:
As you can see by the levels, the walkway in the cell room is above the cells so therefore if the tunnels are level (with no gradients) then the tunnel WILL end as a hole in the floor of the tunnel which should enter into the top area of the cell. (So the characters will have to climb down from the tunnel into the cell.)

Is there any update on this quandry now? I understand Magnimar holds different currencies to Riddleport and Korvosa but being an idle git I find it hard work making up names and descriptions of the currency my players keep finding...

I was thinking of the following:

1. PCs need to break up a bar fight
2. Found dog
3. Barn, or perhaps dump fire
4. Visiting "somebody" would like some more security while he flirts and tries to score with the local women.

Does anyone have any ideas that they think would work supremely well in this situation?

Thanks in advance.

OOOH OOOH OOH I got one!!! If I recall correctly the head tutor of the academy has some sort of lab/museum/whatever in the basement of the school.

How about he has a fair sized number of inaminate objects down there that manage to break free causing all kinds of chaos in the town. The funniest thing about it would be the fact that they could be every day objects such as a stool or a plantpot (with plant of course!!) which could try to hide amongst items of a similar nature so the players have to guess which one is the animated one whilst it pretends to be normal before making a final break for freedom out of town.

Gotcha!
So (Crosses fingers) Hopefully we'll get a response soon form the powers that be? :-)

I think this is quiet a bit trickier than you think!
Renember what happens in the next pathfinder (and why the Giants were at Sandpont in the first place!!) I think that unless you can think of a way to encourage the group to get back to Sandpoint then the knock on effects could seriously be detrimental.

Maybe the giants attack he fort on thier way to or (better yet) from Sandpoint. A captured ogre or giant could lead the players back to sandpoint and then on from there maybe?

A list of stores running PFS events or players in the area would be great.

Ooh! I'm in UK too (Peterborough to be precise!) This idea certainly would be a boon, especially now with the pathfinder society group (I assume thats why you mentioned it right?.

It wouldnt neccesarilly have to be official though would it? I mean if its just a google or Yahoo page identifying locations of players then I dont see why it should? Sure, if we can get official backing that may improve the general outlook of the map.

Good point!

Which is why when I cancelled I done it via email. Seemed a bit more respectfull/ sensible.

My case (Are you asking for case by case reasons or just general explanations and reasons? ) Is very financial. I stopped half way through Crimson throne path with the hopes of restarting when the second darkness was to begin. Unfortunately my finances are way behind and this is really my only personal expense that I can cut back on.

If I had my way I would purchase back copies of what I've missed so far and restart my subscription whilst adding the gazzeteers to the bill.

I didt so much buy the 2nd pathfinder series for the actual adventures but more for the fluff they have inside; new monster, details about Gods and information about different geographical areas etc.)

If they weren't in each pathfinder module I'd be quiet happy to stop buying them after I has bought the first pathfinder series.

good luck selling them, I know how you feel, I'm in a similar situation (But I hope to have mine resolved soonish).
Having looked at the link it seems you'll get most of your money back, well done and good luck.

Dragon hatchlings?.......Mounts?......Cohorts?

When I think of this I think more of the fact that as they mature (reletively quickly no doubt by human standards?) maybe they will want to go to "Dragon University" ? Not litrally of course, but as these dragons will be able to speak common then they may pester "mum and dad" to take them home to see their true heritage and teach them spell casting etc. I would be inclined to treat these babies as White Elephants, but by the time the characters reach level 10 then the dragons have matured and learnt enough be treated as cohorts. Of course I wouldnt officially declare them cohorts, more of just family members coming out on a jolly jaunt.

yes??!! I've often wondered about that!

Spoiler:
It doesn't state any where how close to the waters edge (at high tide or low tide?!) that entrance is to the sea. I suppose the Dm can just declare its close enough for the characters to tether the boat to and it will remain there throughout the day.
A REALLY nasty DM would have the characters arrive at high tide, and as the tide goes out the weight of the boat pulls the tether loose and thus dropping the boat into the sea or bashing it against the rock of the outside wall. The characters would then have to ensure the rope bridge could be repaired or they'd be in BIG trouble mwahahahha.
There is also (more unlikey perhaps) the entrance through the mouth where the Hermit crab resides. THAT would be a tough entrance!!!!

I think you've posted this in the wrong spot (hence the lack of response maybe?)
The best forum to post this quandry in would be the RotRL thread;

http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/paizoPublishing/pathfinder/adventurePa th/runelords

But in answer to your question, you could maybe discourage this by Shelaliu (sp) mentioning the very high cliffs and how even the island that the Goblin fort is on has high, odd shaped cliffs.

If the characters still think the seaward journey is their best option then:

Spoiler:
perhaps when they initially try this route rough waves. sharks, harpies (Bristanch’s family watching from hidden caves inbetween Thistletop and Sandpoint for ships at sea?)and even old Murdermaw can be used. Replacing the xp they would have got had they have fought the Goblins in the briar camp.
If this creates too much concern about the Goblins in the camp coming to the aide of the fort after fighting various sea creatures you can always have a large number of them charging across the rope bridge. Once they're over half way and the ropes snap they renember the trap. Thus cutting off the fort from the mainland (with the exeption of the Pc's vessel.)

Not Dungeon magazine material, but hopefully interesting enough for you;

I intend to combine a couple of modules from WotC site
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/duarch/ad
I have an idea for my online game, so if any of my players happen to be viewing this thread , look away .......NOW..

Spoiler:
First of all I am using "Night OfThe Strawmen" to be combined with the events that take place during the Swallowtail festival. (In my game the two festivals have been combined to reduced the number of days where people are not working and on holiday).
The hooded, mysterious stranger is none other than Old Megus upto some nasty tricks, one of which is to get revenge for the "murder" of her sister (though in my game she will not be identified at this point).
The second comes after Burnt Offering when she comes to the edge of town with two, maybe three Ogres and offers a deal for peace; In return for stealing a heart stone from a Night hag that is passing through the area.
Later on (at level 7ish) I will play out "Witching Season". Changing Groa for Megus, Rann as the "murdered" witch that was burnt at the stake at Pyre point (before breaking free of her bonds and falling off the cliff at Hags Plummet)and the role of Autumn Wren being played by Rynshin Povalli (area 30. Vernah’s Fine Clothing in Sandpoint) The Pearl used in this module is actually the heartstone that was stolen from the Night hag some weeks/ months ago and modified by Megus to have different / New powers.

If you wish for me to elaborate further then let me know.

Is Orik dead yet? The fact that he hates the ceremonies and is only with Niulia more out of desperation than genuine loyalty may indicate that he will feel remorse and regrett for helping such an evil woman destroy Sandpoint. Thus he may aide the prisoners with potions of healing and the location of thier stowed equipment.

Found this in the section about arts and entertainments in page 59 of pathfinder two; Magnimar section;

"...Pathfinder Dr. Archisa Aparna (NG female human
bard 5), who frequently lectures on ancient Varisian monuments
on the occasions she returns to the city."

Maybe she hears about the catacombs under the glass works and comes to pay Sandpoint a little visit? This is especially handy if you hve already played Skinsaw as it means Sheriff Belor would have gone to Magnimar to request futher funding for more militia and would have given a full report regarding the recent events within the town!

EDIT:
Oh you said you just started the game? Maybe she can just be visiting Broderk Quink to find out a little more about the "old Light" ?
Rumours get around a small town like wild bush fires. Before she has time to take off her muddy boots in her room every one and his dog will know theres one of the world renowned Pathfinder members in town (even though she may not be as famous as some of the bigger stars of the society!)

Well done wanderer. I have that map on my hard drive but I couldn't find it anywhere in the website!

Maybe these two links can start you off a bit?

I just assumed it was the same as having a spiked shield???

Just how big is the apartment? My idea of an apartment is just maybe about 6 rooms or so? If its considerably larger maybe you could have a mid level illusionist using it as a secret lab and making it appear haunted by use of invisibility and illusion spells?

Blood could start pouring from the walls only to dissapear shortly afterwards (silent image),lights under doorways (Dancing lights (evocation class!!), noises (ghost sound!) can be heard in empty rooms.
If the characters linger too long then they could start meeting with accidents as doors mysteriously lock themselves when a heavilly smoking fire (choking damage but not to severe to destroy the room?) suddenly begins for no apparent reason. Even level 5 spells Dream and Nightmare could help with sleeples nights.

Maybe the "bloody wall" is where a secret door is to the lab (so they have a clue as to where to find the illusionists den).
This way it can be 1) new and 2)creepy but also have no undead so be a nice change in pace.
Who knows? If he's not evil but just wanting privacy then maybe when they DO find the illusionist he begs them to keep quiet about the lab and in return he will only "haunt" strangers, allowing the group to rest there in peace. (Maybe even becoming a new ally or adventure hook??)

EDIT :
Ensure the illusionist has silent spell metafeat for this or the rod of metamagic (silent)lol!!!

Further Edit:
The fact that they have no arcane casters will help prevent it being spoilt with spellcraft checks heheh

Maybe friends of the harpy named Bristanch could come along and inhabit it? Using the area D7 as their main entrance/exit. Granted they wouldn't be able to fly much in the dungeon but they could lure people over the cliff from the briar camp (they would love doing that to the Goblins who killed their friend!)
Alternatively, Sahuagin may have entered the complex via area E7. Maybe even both conditions have occured? Flying monsters on one level and sea beasts on the lower level!

If it hasn't already been mentioned I'd like to suggest the lowly Boggard. If I'm not mistaken these little critters can get along in any setting. Sure they'll get funny looks in a big city but the bestiary (sp?) states they can originate from pretty much anywhere that has a watersource nearby. Maybe some "Toadkin" can live in city sewers perhaps??

Sorry about the late reply, hope its not too late for you.

Basically when it referes to the tunnel headed northeast, its talking about the main tunnel. On that particular tunnel (along the south wall) there are a further two branches.
One (the eastern one) stops at a dead end after a while that used to lead to the river . The western one however, looks like it was bricked up at the point were it meets the main tunnel. This one leads to the catacombs whilst the main tunnel leads off to the cliff edge and the seashore.

If you look at page 90 (revenant) The section on self loathing explains what happens if the characters attack whilst its staring into the mirror.
I woyld say that shes staring into the mirror continually, crying and upset at what she has become because of Aldern. To remove the mirror will rouse her out of the hypnotic like trance she is in and to attack her will have the same effect.

There are (imho) 2 very important reasons why she would not leave Thistletop. First is the temple, she knows it would most likely get destroyed should she leave the area and secondly is Malf. Depending upon how close she is to freeing him she may try to lock herself in the lower section whilst she makes freeing him a priority.
Personally if this where my game I'd have her make a final stand in the lower section (Does she have commune? If so maybe her God can tell her if the Quasit is dead or not) I think she is getting too close to the liberation of Malfeshnikor to abandon the dungeon now. Especially if you think about what is involved.

I saw it and thought, "Hmm.. that could be a cool Nualia." :)

Ooh thats cool!! I may pinch the idea and have that big hand actually be a klar! You know the spiked shield type thing in the players guide? Stick it on a female Shoanti barbarian and give the description to the players a few days after they kill Nuilia that some woman with a deformed hand is attacking caravans or something on the north road. That'll freak them out thinking that Niullia survived hehe

I s'pose if you are lazy (like me!) You could slightly modify the saw mill in the skinsaw man to be the lumber mill. Just extend the length by having it hold more lumber under cover (tree trunks waiting to be cut one side and ready cut planks at the other end with the actual saws in between) so it fits in with the design on the map.

Edit
As most buildings are (if I recall) at most two storey buildings you could explain the length by saying all the workings of the skinsaw mill (which has 5 floors excluding the rookery!) have to be on the ground level of the Sandpoint Mill whilst the upstairs houses staff areas perhaps?

Majuba, I have never heard of these badge/ card things. Sounds intresting though...

Heheh it seems you read my mind!! I know theres a gazetteer of Korvosa, but is it likely that thre will be gazetteers of each individual nation (Can't wait for Geb if there is!) I'm sure there is that plan in the long term butI was also curious if theres a rough timeline for publishing these? Like maybe one every 6 months or something??

EDIT:
Scratch that! I've just taken another look at the products page and ity appears to be roughly every other month.

To be honest with you I get the impression from the DMG quote that the minatour is considered more of a trap style encounter than an NPC/ monster encounter. You get Xp for overcoming a trap (such as carefully stepping past the tripwire (or in this case the hooves of the sleeping minatour)) and thats why youd give xp for the minatour in the example. I reckon its one of those examples where it shows that not every opponent is overcome with combat.
Likewise they could earn full xp from Gogmurt if they use diplomacy and actually encourage him to aide the characters in a battle against the "Longshanks". Though it is nigh impossible to do this now as they have already entered combat....
Then again, Gogmurt has been seriously beaten twice! He knows hes outmatched by the players and maybe he will offer up the allegiance (as long as the characters can assure Gogmurt non of his kin will be hurt, he could give the players a direct route through to the lower levels thus bypassing the bulk of the Goblins??)

OMG!! That is soooo cool. Welldone to the proucer of that little gem!
It mentions at the end something about "with perrmission from Paizo". So I dont think copyright is an issue (unless (s)hes fibbin')

My 2 cents;
They have not yet overcome him, it is merely a running batle that has gone out of rounds (And will no doubt go back to round by round combat)
This is akin to an imp going invisible and healing up for a short duration before returning to attack. (Can you see where that is leading ? LOL)
If it was down to me I would award 1/2 xp if they dont kill Gogmurt but they still get back to Sandpoint after going to the lower levels and Nuilla and full xp if Gogmurt dies during the game.

Thats what I suspected, just thought I'd check.
Thanks guys.

page 69 of hook mountain holds details of the aformentioned areas.

I personally would be inclined to have a small amount of grocerys, fresh water fish and special timber come from Galduria (not too much as Sandpoint is in a farm/ lumber area anyway) and also perhaps some arcane items/ scrolls from the Twilight Academy.
Wartle would bring in furs, amphibious animal parts (snake skin shoes? LOL)Etc and Nybor maybe having Elven artwork and equipment due to the half-breed racial issues there.

Almost! lol

We had a bard pc who saved the town, but he insisted on playing the lead male role in the new play. With a bit of cajolling and pursuasion he got offered a special one night performance as the lead actor (Due in 2 weeks to give him time to learn his lines).

Before the weekend in question though they set of for the Big end baddy... He aint coming back....(Aaaaand cue funeral march!)

If I was Dm with a player like that I would have Cyrdak allow it as an opening show before the main performance.
Maybe limit it to a ten minute slot before the main show (A tad like the old B movies before the main event or a warm up act etc)

EDIT:
Of course to me it would be down to a positively modified diplomacy check to see if the bard would be allowed to perform a "teaser" show. Then if the audiance like what she does then Cyrdak may well ask the lady to perform the full show.

Okies, thanks for the input.

I dont believe this question has been asked or answered, if it has then I apologise but can some-one point me to the answer?

On page 26, room number B4 the creature in this room will "attack anything that enters the room that doesn't bear the stink of Lamashtu on its skin".
I found a section about "Lamashtus Mark", but nothing about a stench. Is this just a Dms way of saying it'll attack any one who isnt meant to be there or is there a section I'ver missed out on?
To be honest it's not vitaly important but if the Stench is something I can use in game for other reasons it may improve game flavour.

Dunno if It'll work with the program / printer you use, but I've found if I use the tool to "select area" (I think its the tool you use to cut and crop parts of the picture, you know the icon with the little box made up of dash lines??)) then cut a section out thats 8 squares across and 11 squares long that works out about right. It means you have to be really carefull about where you make your lines, and I found it better to over lap a square rather than miss out any bits. Not perfect mind but usable.

On a slightly different subject, how do DMs use these whilst avoid giving away too much info? Do you cut up all the seperate rooms and place them on the table one at a time? How do you guys prevent the players seeing treasure, secret doors and rooms etc?

Good point, about the fungus and the level of spell casting required thanks.

Walter;
In my campaign I've had Aldern fall for one of the (all male) group. This came about because I REALLY liked the spurned lover approach over all the other options and before Aldern was introduced, the characters found out about the relationship between Jasper and Cyrdak (sp?). They started wondering how many others where gay and then the Goblins showed up.....
This turned out even handier than expected as prior to the boar hunt they heard a rumour of him killing his wife. Now, due to the new "relationship" they believed Aldern when he denied even ever being married! This was enough to shake off Aldern after the boar hunt so that he could get on to the mansion and allow the group to carry out the rest of their adventure. (That is untill they meet again.....)

Is it possible for a creature to become a ghoul once its died?
As I understand it you have to be alive and catch ghoul fever to become a ghoul and then die (hence the reason I suggested a plain zombie earlier.)

Richard Pett wrote:
.....- does aldern dig her up, ...?

Oh THATS sweet!!!!!

she could maybe come back as a zombie perhaps? Dunno if Aldern could by chance happen upon a scroll of create undead ? Then they could face her again as an enemy but wearing the clothes of his deceased wife.

Spoiler:
If I'm not mistaken, he is a rogue so may have ranks in use magical device so its not impossible.

Turning to wrath and blaming the pc's is, in my humble opinion the best way to go. Especially if your players are anything like mine as they'd loot the still warm corpse of their fallen comrade (most likey calling dibs on whatever items took their fancy before she even hit the ground!!)
If they really are like my group then its unlikely they'll bring back the body for proper burial, which will outrage Aldern even more.
