I missed the update on Dec 5th, so I thought that last update was Nov 21, and it was pretty much dead. Is there enough interest to keep it going, and if so, what kind of posting schedule should we be expecting to see moving forward?

Drellik thinks for a long moment, then responds, "If I am to understand you, we are to join your company as employees, then to do whatever you ask of us. Is that correct?" He thinks again before continuing, "As long as what you ask of me is not in violation of my faith or honor, then I happily accept. I assure you, I do not have any obscure or strange beliefs that must be obliged."

Drellik stands back, perplexed about what is happening. He once again tries to cut the rope. Attack, dagger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Is there anything else we can do? We've been stuck on this goat encounter for almost a month.

"This seems too easy..." Drellik heads for C-3 and Tamuud moves to C-4. He attempts to watch for anything that might be hiding near the goat. Drellik Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

"Well, does he know where we can find these pugwampis? We found no tracks to follow, but if Dashki has some idea where they might go, we might still be able to find them?" I really don't have any idea what to do right now...

"Well, if nothing else, this is curious. Let's regroup with the others and see if they found anything." If Omaz agrees, Drellik returns to camp to find the other characters and reveals the details about the missing goat and its trail suddenly ending. Basically, the past few spoilers for Drellik and Omaz

Omaz: "No, I think a couple of gnolls caught sight of this caravan and decided to steal their dinner. Create a distraction, grab the goat, get away in the confusion."
Drellik shrugs a bit and looks unsure, "I don't know if that's what happened, but that's the best I've got. Could you help me look around the area where the animals are kept to see if we can find any tracks?" He goes over to the animals and begins searching the area. Survival: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21

Drellik pats him on the back, promising to look for the goat as soon as possible. Excusing himself, he goes to find Omaz. "I wonder if you wouldn't humor me for a few minutes. Our friend, Hadrod, has lost his prize goat. I'm wondering if you could take a look around the area where he last saw it, see if you can find any tracks it might have left?" Once they are away from others, Drellik continues in a quieter voice:
Omaz: "I'm starting to get the impression that the fire was just a diversion. Nobody saw anything, there wasn't anything odd about the wagon, nobody had it out for the poor man who died. I just find it very convenient that this one animal disappeared during the chaos when we were able to prevent all the others from panicking."

Drellik leaves the wagon and informs the others about his findings. "Looks like he died from the fire or the smoke, there are no signs of a struggle inside the wagon, and no traces of magic either. I've got another idea..." He heads back towards the animals looking for Hadrod or Hadrah. When he finds them, he inquires, "Excuse me, with all the excitement I'm sorry I wasn't more help calming the animals. Were you able to save them all, or did you lose any in all the chaos?'

Drellik proceeds to the wagon and casts detect magic. He starts looking around the wagon, beginning by circling the outside, then inspecting as much of the interior as possible without going inside. Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

"Well, not too bad. The halfling cleric was not much help to be honest. But I did learn that the lady in charge of the other caravan is Garavel's employer - she's leading this expedition, not him. And given all the guards and mercenaries she has around, I don't know...." Drellik looks at Omaz and continues in a slow voice, "I haven't been around people much these past few years, so I may just be reading the situation incorrectly, but something about this doesn't seem right to me. I'm planning to relax a bit before we get started again... but I'm going to keep my eyes open, if you know what I mean."

Gethric and DM: Drellik watches Gethric leave, then he turns back to the halfling "Ah, my word choice may have implied something I did not intend. I beg your pardon if I caused offense. Is Almah a noble or merchant then? She must be important to have her own personal guards?"

Gethric and DM: "Is this Almah going to join her caravan with ours, or is this meeting by chance? Drellik inquires.
After his response, Drellik asks "What happened to cause that fire, I didn't see any enemies about, and the weather didn't seem bad enough for lightning."

Drellik takes the chance to speak with the halfling healer, asking if he needs any more help caring for the wounded. If possible, Drellik would also like to check on the patient he tended, making sure she is on her way to recovery. He tries to make small talk with them, find out their names, where they are coming from, what started the fires, what Almah is like, etc.

Drellik watches the monkey gorge itself on the pear, amused by the creature's antics. I have to agree, we are all judged at the end, but until then, I'll take all the luck I can get. As Gethric responds to Asanna, Drellik asks him "If I may, to what end do you wish such action? Is it the thrill of combat that you seek, or the sense of victory over vanquished foes? Perhaps both?"

Drellik listens as the others around the campfire discuss their reasons for joining the caravan, and to their stated desire for excitement. Excitement? How do they not see the excitement happening all around them? The animals hiding at our approach, the birds soaring overhead, the winds covering evidence of our passage as we move along. Sighing, Drellik leans back onto the flank of a sleeping lion. Old enough to be called an adult, but young enough to lack a mane, the lion had caused Garavel to initially refuse his request to join... until Drellik patiently demonstrated his control over the creature. Even so, the cat was kept away from the horses as much as possible. The large beasts became wary whenever it strayed too close, and nobody wanted their transport to get spooked. From his reclined position, he listens to the Kelishite's comment about the sun. Abrubtly deciding to be social, Drellik adds, "Spoken true, though I prefer watching them from the dunes to the south. The sunlight causes the sands to erupt in colors; bright blues and greens in the morning, reds and oranges at dusk. Aye, there is beauty..." Realizing he said more than intended, Drellik closes his mouth, but nods slowly while looking deep into the fire. |
