Puzzles Are Not For Everyone

1/5

Everything else about the scenario is fun with all the "little" encounters, but the puzzle hurt my brain and likley both of the tables I ran at GC2015 this year. Not all people are super smart so maybe add an option to use a skill challenge (know some people are twitchy about using 4E terms) to solve issues like this in the future.

Never Make Assumptions!

The title of this review is all that needs to be said.

Good Investment in Lieu of Plastic

4/5

I have so far got my copies of the Bestiary Box and the Rise of the Runelords Pawns and they look great. I had bought some of the pathfinder battle minis and unfortunately the latest set would have really hit me hard in the wallet and with this I had a more cost effective line of products to turn to, hence the title of the review.

Now originally I had two problems with these pawns, one being the lack of getting extra bases for pawns but Paizo fixed that up. The other problem I had was the lack of Gargantuan and Colossal pawns (the only reason I am giving this four stars). I understand that to print these they would have to use an entire sheet of card stock that's currently being used which made it seem like not something to put out right now. However I hope have the next few pawn sets that have really good sales they can do a box of nothing but these massive monsters. Call it like "Bestiary Box XL: Big Box for Big Beasts" or something, but regardless of what it would be called I would definitely buy it.

P.S. If Paizo uses that name I'd like some credit, LOL.

Another of Many Scenarios that leads to TPKs

1/5

Okay this is another horrible scenario, I mean hell this thing was worse than Asmodeus Mirage in the sense of the encounters...and that means its really, really bad. I personally believe that creatures that cause effects that are pretty much irreversible is too powerful in any game. You going to have to provide some countermeasure, otherwise it will lead to a TPK which our game pretty much lead too. I will never purchase and/or run this scenario...I like to make the player's "sweat" but killing all of them...no I don't want that on my hands.

Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, OW!!!!

I would like to state that I only gave this scenario a 1 because there is no 0 star option.

I played this mod this last Saturday and a few things that happened to me and my friends that played.

1) The fighter/rogue with nearly 24 AC (normally) almost got killed in the first encounter.
2) The ulfen fighter was inches away from being slain due to the last encounter.
3) Our ranger/rogue/druid buddy got hit really hard a few times and had his little bear cub companion turned into a rug in the last encounter.
4) My sorcerer nearly died twice, once in one of the encounters where we got swarmed by the critters shown on the cover, and the guardian of the crystal skeleton.

If you are a person with a good heart and don't want what could end with a near or full TPK...never run this mod. If however you are sadistic, cruel, and love making players squirm then feel free to run this mod.
