I know I have said this in the past, I am holding off from using all this great stuff I own from Frog God Games that is set in The Lost Lands until the Campaign Guide comes out.

Any news on when that might happen?

So something like this month does not happen I would like to request a new Combined Shipping Option.

Currently with all my subscription I only really care about the Pathfinder Roleplaying/Golarion RPG books, for all others I don't care if they get pushed back a month.

I know a while back you set up with your printer to make sure all your Pathfinder Roleplaying/Golarion RPG books get to you at the same time, but as seen with this month that is not always possible with your other items made with different printer.

Currently my only options are either wait for everything to get to you before shipping our ship as they come. Neither is working for me and for many other as seen by the complaints this month.

Using the option Ship as soon as possible can cause multiple shipments in the same month which can cause a huge amount of shipping costs.

I would like a third option:

If the other products from your other printers have not arrived by the time shipping starts I would like those pushed to the next month shipping so I would still have a combined shipping therefore saving on shipping costs.

I would like an option to Ship the following subscriptions as soon as possible in one shipment:

Pathfinder Adventure Path
Pathfinder Campaign Setting
Pathfinder Modules
Pathfinder Player Companion
Pathfinder Roleplaying Game

And the following subscriptions to be pushed to the next month if they are not ready for shipment due to not arriving when the above has (Assuming they all use a different printer then the ones above):

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game
Pathfinder Battles
Pathfinder Cards
Pathfinder Comics
Pathfinder Maps
Pathfinder Pawns
Pathfinder Tales

This will allow me to get the products I use more regularly quicker while still getting the other products I use less often and save on shipping.

I know this will take some time to set up so if it is a request you can do I don't expect it to be implanted over night.

I would like to request the Web Team to make sure the PFS Session sheets are updated to take into account the Faction Name changes and A-D check Boxes on the session Sheets at the start of Season 6.

I really hoping not to see what happened this season with Faction removals and the checkboxes never adjusted/added for the session sheets.

Mike or John there are some issues with Additional Resources dealing with Gods.

Currently you still authorize Golarion Day: Subdomains for Everyone! blog but for 12 of the PFS legal gods on that list the subdomians do not match what is in Inner Sea Gods.

The 12 following gods subdomians are different in Inner Sea Gods compared to the above blog:

Groetus
Hanspur
Gogunta
Socothbenoth
Ragadahn
Ayrzul
Hshurha
Kelizandri
Ymeri
Korada
Ragathiel
Sinashakti

Here is the list of differences

Spoiler:

When PFS first started Josh right out made Philosophies not legal for PFS. Since then that has kind been de-emphasized but not really "Officially" made legal or at the least confusing if they are legal. The only philosophies I know are straight out legal with no confusion is Atheism and Pantheism (Additional Resources allow this).

PFS Guide Pg 10 wrote:
Otherwise, characters who do not receive powers from a divine source may choose to be atheists or to have no deity at all.

I would like to see them added as legal for PFS play, we can start with adding it to the FAQ then a future update of the PFS Guide.

Philosophies are big part of the world of Golarion and it is sad that we can't fully embrace them in PFS play. There are ways around that (Archetypes, traits, prestige classes) or seeing the rules from another certain point of view to get you around it, but when when I want to list my faith I have to pick a deity, a Pantheon, none or atheist. I would rather get the confusion out of it and state straight out that Philosophies are legal.

The rules even allow classes that have to pick deities follow a philosophy:

Inner Sea World Guide Pg 236 wrote:
Clerics who follow a philosophy must select a patron deity among the philosophy’s associated religions (they gain no additional benefits from adherence to a philosophy).

Also from Dragon Empires Gazetteer:

Inner Dragon Empires Gazetteer Pg 56 wrote:
Nothing prevents Tians from being adherents of these philosophies and devoted worshipers of a god; nothing about such an arrangement is strange to them.

Of Course we don't have to allow every Philosophy to be legal, and any Philosophies that does not state associated religions should not be allowed by those that need to pick a Deity, but there are a bunch we should allow.

Here is a list to help Mike and John track them down.

Ones that should be Allowed to be Legal:

Atheism (Laws of Man) – Sources: Inner Sea World Guide, Faiths & Philosophies
Diabolism – Sources: Inner Sea World Guide
The Green Faith – Sources: Inner Sea World Guide, Faiths & Philosophies
Ichimeiyo – Sources: Dragon Empires Gazetteer, Faiths & Philosophies
Pao-Lung – Sources: Dragon Empires Gazetteer
The Prophecies of Kalistrade – Sources: Inner Sea World Guide, Faiths & Philosophies
Sangpotshi, the River of Life – Sources: Dragon Empires Gazetteer, Faiths & Philosophies
Tamashigo – Sources: Dragon Empires Gazetteer

Other Philosophies that are not as explicitly defined as those above but are part of Golarion:

Agnosticism
Common Rule
Shamanism (Juju, totemism, ancestor worship, etc.)

We can also open up other rules associated with Philosophies and make it more clear for those who are confused about taking a trait that says you need to be a follower of a Philosophy when then seem to be not allowed.

As an example you can allow the Customized Summon List for Green Faith followers from Wrath of the Righteous: Demon's Heresy.

One of the few Philosophies I would right out say we should not allow is The Whispering Way because it does not work well with PFS.

It is that time of year to start getting ready for the San Antonio Convention ChimaeraCon 2014 – April 4 – 6.

Once again I am adding a more tables this year so I am going to need a lot more GMs to make this year another success! Just like last year if you GM 2 games you get in for free. Also something new this year, I have added a session for volunteering for Sign-in Desk. The convention has gotten too large for me to do on my own. Just like GMing if you volunteer for 2 slots you get in for free. If you just want to play I look forward to seeing you there as well. If you would like to GM/Play please register and sign up for a game at the following Warhorn site:

https://warhorn.net/events/chimaeracon-2014-pfs

You will need to pre-register to get an convention badge for the event on their web page:

They are changing locations again this year, the new location is:

La Quinta Inn & Suites
San Antonio Medical Center
4431 Horizon Hill Blvd

Any insight on when it will be released and the tier it will be?

I am now working on the schedule for an April 4-6 Convention and always have been able to run the 4 star special there in the past. I am hoping I will be able to again this year.

The above information would be useful for Convention Organizers.

To tell the truth I have not enjoyed a PFS blog in awhile, the last one I enjoyed was the Pathfinder Society in Portugal blog.

That said I would like to start a thread so we can recommend what we would love to see in future Blogs

I would love to see Bios of Venture Captains (in game) and Faction heads.

This would bring something that we can use in our games when running the Venture Captains and Faction heads and give the players a bit more knowledge of their leadership for their characters so they can roleplay better. It would also bring their portraits if used into the community use policy.

What other suggestions do we have out there?

I noticed something, the Poisoner Rogue archetype ability Master Poisoner is legal while the Alchemist discovery Poison Conversion is not. They both end up doing the same thing though they go about it differently.

APG pg 134 wrote:
Master Poisoner (Ex): At 3rd level, a poisoner can use Craft (alchemy) to change the type of a poison. This requires 1 hour of work with an alchemist’s lab and a Craft (alchemy) skill check with a DC equal to the poison’s DC. If successful, the poison’s type changes to contact, ingested, inhaled, or injury. If the check fails, the poison is ruined. The poisoner also receives a bonus on Craft (alchemy) skill checks when working with poison equal to 1/2 her rogue level. This ability replaces trap sense.
UC pg 24 wrote:
Poison Conversion: By spending 1 minute, the alchemist can convert 1 dose of poison from its current type (contact, ingested, inhaled, or injury) to another type. For example, the alchemist can convert a dose of Small centipede poison (an injury poison) to an inhaled poison. This process requires an alchemy lab. An alchemist must be at least 6th level before selecting this discovery.

I will admit it takes a bit more work for the Rogue ability to use because it requires a roll, but the roll is easy to succeed at.

The main difference

Master Poisoner takes 1 hour vs. poison Conversion taking 1 minute. While an hour can be a problem in a pinch you can easily have them done prior to an adventure and I see no reason it would not keep converted between adventures

Master poisoner requires a skill check vs. poison Conversion not requiring one. This could be a problem at low levels but craft alchemy and the bonus you get from the archetype make this roll not that difficult.

Master poisoner you get at level 3 vs. poison Conversion you can't get until level 6.

To get Master poisoner you lose to rogue abilities trapfinding and trap sense, not huge loses vs. poison Conversion you just pick it up as a discovery with no prerequisite.

Though they are different in the way they get to the end product they both do the same thing, you can change the poison’s type to contact, ingested, inhaled, or injury.

I am not sure I understand why one is not allowed when the other is. I would love to see that reconsidered.

On that same line of thought because of similar reasons I would argue that Daggermark poisoner should be made legal as well. It also goes so well with the Assassins’ Guild vanity.

So I had a player argue with me last night about this ruling and nothing he pointed to me on the boards from the developers changed my opinion on the rule I made so I am bringing the specifics out to here to see the difference in opinions and maybe a confirmation of my ruling or a change of my opinion.

So lets start of with the relevant rules of stealth because that I were my ruling is coming from..

Core pg 106 wrote:
Breaking Stealth: When you start your turn using Stealth, you can leave cover or concealment and remain unobserved as long as you succeed at a Stealth check and end your turn in cover or concealment. Your Stealth immediately ends after you make an attack roll, whether or not the attack is successful (except when sniping as noted below).

So you can come out of cover an still be in stealth as long as you succeed at a Stealth check and end your turn in cover or concealment. You can also attack after coming out of cover but that will end you stealth after your attack.

Got it, understand it. The problem I had was that I had a player that wanted to move full movement from starting in stealth (so -5 to roll) attack someone at a point in that movement where he would not been able to get back into cover even if he did not attack.

I ruled since he moved beyond the point of being able to get back into cover he was no longer legally in stealth therefore he could not get an attack unobserved. He stated that being able to get back into cover was not important that he was still in stealth since he started the turn in stealth. Basically he could walk into a room from starting in stealth and not be seen until the end of his movement if he was not behind cover at that point.

I insisted that to be able to attack while in stealth he must first be at least able to finish the first condition of stealth even if he was not going to, which states you can leave cover or concealment and remain unobserved as long as you succeed at a Stealth check and end your turn in cover or concealment. Since he could never complete that condition because he would never be able to get back into concealment, he was not legally in stealth.

What do you all think?

I would love some logical opinions or links to posts by developers.

Mike (and John) I know I talked to you about this in person at Owlcon last year but now that it looks like the solution you gave me is not going to happen I am going to ask again.

Are we going to see more Tier 1-5 Scenarios?

In all my experience the low tier scenarios are the most popular and easiest to schedule on game days and Season 4 had way too little.

In the past we were promised one per month which did not last long most likely I suspect due to removing 1-7 tier scenarios.

This is what we had for Low tier every season

Season 0 - 13
Season 1 - 15
Season 2 - 11
Season 3 (Lost of Tier 1-7)- 11
Season 4 - Only 6!
Season 5 (So far) - 2 (With only 9 scenarios announced so far)

Mike I really don't want to see a shortage on Low Tier (Tier 3-7 does not count) scenarios like we saw last season.

are we going to see and increase this season?

So I am good on the FAQ but I do have one question.

I know that if a poison appears on a chronicle sheet anyone can purchase them and that Alchemists can craft the list of poisons in the FAQ and Additional resources. My Question is can Alchemists craft the poisons found on chronicle sheets and are they limited to the allowed doses on the chronicle sheet?

Right now I am assuming they can craft them but can only craft the amount of doses allowed by the chronicle sheet.

Pathfinder Battles

Change

Pathfinder Comics Deluxe to Non Deluxe

For Customer service tracking purposes below are the reasons for the change:

Pathfinder Battles - Price is significantly too high on top of the shipping/handling charge compared to all other major online Miniature Dealers or local Game store.

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game - Lack of local friends interested in playing.

Pathfinder Comics Deluxe change to Non Deluxe - Removal of Maps/mini adventure and the addition of a second comic set made this less cost effective.

For all 3 Subscription the lack of Subscriber perks compared to your other subscription (Free PDFs) is also a major reason I am cancelling/changing them.

So I am trying to figure out how the Rogue Talent Resiliency works in conjunction with the Aegis of Recovery.

Relevant text

PF Core pg 68 wrote:
Resiliency (Ex): Once per day, a rogue with this ability can gain a number of temporary hit points equal to the rogue’s level. Activating this ability is an immediate action that can only be performed when she is brought to below 0 hit points. This ability can be used to prevent her from dying. These temporary hit points last for 1 minute. If the rogue’s hit points drop below 0 due to the loss of these temporary hit points, she falls unconscious and is dying as normal.
Ultimate Equipment pg 254 wrote:
Aegis of Recovery...Should the wearer ever drop below 0 hit points, the aegis heals the wearer for 2d8+3 points of damage and then crumbles to dust.

So I am thinking they will work in conjunction in either 2 ways. They will either both go off when you go below 0 hit points or Resiliency would go off before setting off the Aegis of Recovery because Resiliency mentions it is an immediate action while Aegis of Recovery does not mention what kind of action it is.

What are others thoughts on this?

I have a few questions about Pantheons and PFS play. If anyone else has Pantheon questions related to PFS please feel free to add them. I am hoping to use this thread to inspire others to add more questions I did not think of.

In PFS there is an alignment restriction when choosing a Deity, you must be within one alignment step of your chosen God no matter the class you are. Is there a similar restriction when choosing a Pantheon and if so what is it?

When choosing a Pantheon does that qualify you for spells, traits, prestige classes, etc. that require a Deity if Deity is in the list of Deities of the Pantheon?

Paizo Charter Superscriber; Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber; Pathfinder Deluxe Comics Subscriber

So this was a fairly large thread mostly dealing about listing different difficulty scales of a scenario mostly as a way to deal with a mixture of different player types at a table or so players know if it will be too difficult to play in.

There have been also a lot recent threads on how different player types can ruin play experience *optimizer vs. non optimizer and similar stuff*.

Instead of drastic changes to PFS rules or on How a scenario is made there is a much easier thing to do *IMO* then to figure out a complicated method of difficulty of a Scenario or adjusting how scenarios are written, provide more resources to teach GMs how to deal with different types of players in a group.

By far the greatest impact of the perceived difficulty of a scenario or experience of the players of different types is based on the experience/knowledge/skill of the GM. Providing advice/tactics/training for GMs would go much farther in providing enjoyment of all players no matter the type of player then working on a complicated near impossible rating system or dramatic PFS rules changes.

So now I get to the purpose of the thread, I would like to use this thread as a spark for all of us to give ideas to Mike and John on how to make Better PFS GMs. We all can do things locally but High level initiatives would have a greater impact overall on the GMs.

I have a few ideas, and they are just a starting point, I would love to hear opinions on my ideas and other new ideas on making Better GMS.

They got to a great start with GM 101, I would love to see this go farther and even link it up to our GM star system. Make a GM 201 and 301 with more advanced GM training and then require some kind of method for GMs to show they learned from these before they get their next star and maybe some kind of method of tracking that. For this to work you are going to need GMs to want their next star which of course requires some kind of reward, but that is a different subject I do not want to get into.

Keep all the other requirements the same for getting stars but before they can get their 2nd star they need to show they read/attended/watched *more on that in a second* the GM 101 course. Once that is done they get their star. The same for 3rd star *GM 201* and 4th *GM 301*. The 4th star which already requires peer review can stay as is.

Now I don't want to require tests I just want to be able to show that a GM as actually at the least looked at them. One idea is to film a session of a GM 101 course being done and provide it to the GM once they have the number scenarios requirement. Even just reading them a GM would learn something which is more than nothing.

This may require a lot of trust on the GMs to actually do what they said they have done, but if that is too much for anyone you could actually require them to be in a reported GM *01 course, though that would be harder to get accomplished. I am not looking for something that looks like "Work" just something that at least if a GM looked through they would get information and knowledge they did not have before. Any ideas on how we can track if a GM got through a Training course that is not a “test”?

Another idea would be so a Monthly/bi-monthly PFS GM Advice Blog. Mike and John can go to the many great GMs they have out there to write these.

So what do you guys think? What other ideas do you have?

Day of the Demon is a scenario that no Pathfinder Society player should miss out on, so encourage your regional coordinator or local celebrity GM to run this one for you.

I take offense to this! I am a world wide PFS celebrity GM!... ;)

Edit: Not only that I have found Proof that Mike is raising an Army of Red Shirts to accomplish his evil plans!!!

So I decided to make a post about what Gods are allowed for PCs in PFS because we see a lot of posts on the subject. I am going to use the Guide and Additional Resources to make my list. For each God I will add what the source is and what Alignment the PC needs to be. Since Gods may be added later on I am making this a Doc you can get here. Feel free to post in this thread if you see any errors, I will update the doc accordingly.

First let’s go over the rules for religion in the Guide.

PFS Guide pg 10 wrote:
Characters can elect to worship any deity listed in a table of gods in the Core Rulebook, The Inner Sea World Guide, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Gods and Magic, or any other source listed as an official Additional Resource.

It is important to note for the Core Rulebook, The Inner Sea World Guide, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Gods and Magic the God must be listed on a table.

PFS Guide pg 10 wrote:
Characters may elect to worship an evil god, but must always be within one alignment step of their chosen deity.

No matter what class you are if you pick a god you must be within one alignment step of your chosen God.

PFS Guide pg 10 wrote:
Clerics, inquisitors, paladins, cavaliers of the order of the star, and samurai of the order of the star must choose a deity as all classes in Golarion that receive spells and abilities from a specific divine source receive their powers from a deity. Druids, oracles, and rangers are the exception to this rule. The list is not exhaustive, and divine spellcasters of any future classes whose sources are added as additional resources to the Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign will be required to choose a deity unless otherwise specified. Otherwise, characters who do not receive powers from a divine source may choose to be atheists or to have no deity at all.

So Clerics, inquisitors, paladins, cavaliers of the order of the star, samurai of the order of the star, and divine spellcasters of any future classes whose sources are added as additional resources (unless otherwise specified) are required to choose a deity. Druids, oracles, and rangers are the exception to this rule. Characters who do not receive powers from a divine source may choose to be atheists or to have no deity at all. This is fairly self-explanatory.

Now onto Gods that are allowed for PCs

First off the Guide states deities listed in a table of gods in the Core Rulebook, The Inner Sea World Guide, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Gods and Magic are authorized. Here is what is added through Additional Resources (minus the Goblin Gods):

Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Dragon Empires Gazetteer: Gods: All gods listed on pages 58-63
Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Gods and Magic: Gods: all of the gods listed on the inside front cover are legal choices for clerics (already mentioned in the Guide)
Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea World Guide: Gods: All gods listed in the tables on pages 229, 231, and 234 (already mentioned in the Guide, even though additional resources leaves out the gods on page 217, those are just the restated core gods,)
Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Magnimar, City of Monuments: Gods: All gods listed in the tables on page 25 are legal
Pathfinder Player Companion: Dragon Empires Primer: Gods: All gods listed on pages 26-27
Pathfinder Player Companion: Dwarves of Golarion: Gods: all gods listed on the inside front cover (note that all gods with favored weapons listed as "hammer" should read "warhammer")
Pathfinder Player Companion: Elves of Golarion: Gods: all gods on page 10
Pathfinder Player Companion: Gnomes of Golarion: Gods: all gods on the inside front cover

Here is the full list of Gods allowed in PFS in alphabetical order.

Ok, I think I may be either reading this feat wrong or it is not a well worded feat.

Advanced Race Guide pg 159 wrote:

Cloud Gazer

Your insight into your elemental heritage gives you a clarity of sight few humans possess.
Prerequisite: Sylph.
Benefit: You can see through fog, mist, and clouds, without penalty, ignoring any cover or concealment bonuses from such effects. If the effect is created by magic, this feat instead triples the distance you can see without penalty.

My problem is the last bolded line, I think most if not all of the cloud spells there is always concealment even if you are standing right next to someone within the cloud (20% miss chance), so how do you triple the distance you can see without penalty when there is no distance you can see without penalty?

I know I am going to get different opinions from PFS Members on this, and I am hoping to get an answer from Mike, though I usually don't like posting threads that only Mike can answer...

We had a 6th level PC die today and he was brought back as a Wraith. The group had to run away and leave his Wraith and body behind.

So I know only a Resurrection will work on someone that was turned into an Undead but the Undead creature needs to be destroyed first, so my question is does having your body recovered by a rescue team for 5pp Cover this? Will the "rescue team" destroy his wraith and bring back the body, or his he dead and unrecoverable?

So I noticed that one of the items in this order changed to Backorder from Pending.

Can I get an Estimate on how much time that is going to add on this order being delivered?

If it is going to be a long time I might just get it removed from the order since the other products I want more.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am bit confused with crafting constructs, part of it is that they seem not to follow normal magic item crafting rules in places.

Skill: So I was reading Ultimate Magic and the Crafting Constructs section mention that the DC matches the same for Magic items DC = 5 + CL of the item, but none (or most) of the Constructs actually follow that in the construction rules. For example Wood Golem says CL 7th so the DC should be 12, but the Skill section says Craft (carpentry) DC 17, which does not actually match the rules. What is with this?

Also on Skills it seems that you have to have the skill and you can't use spellcraft in it's place like all the other magic items.

Another issue is with Magic items you can ignore any requirement by adding +5 to the DC except the Item Creation Feat, but for Constructs you Also can't ignore the CL of the construct, which is different from the normal rules for magic item creation.

Am I missing something? particularly with the skill requirements.
