Here is the line from Stalwart Defender's "Defensive Stance" APG pg 278 wrote: If the stalwart defender moves under his own power as a result of an enemy’s successful use of the Bluff skill or an enchantment spell, his stance ends. I am not familiar with the use of the Bluff skill to make someone move, how would that work? Like Feint? So I just found out my Debit card was compromised, I just got a charge through you for confirmation that my account was still good for the soon shipment of all my subscriptions, that went through fine. My Card has now been killed and I am waiting for a new one, it is supposed to come in tomorrow. Once I get it I will change my Card information on your page, will this cause problems with the next shipment? Side Note: This is how I found out through Apple I was Compromised.. Me to Apple: hey I am trying to find out if these charges to iTunes are fraudulent, can you give me more detail on them? Apple to me: No Me to Apple: why not? Apple to me: I can't read Chinese. Me to to Apple: oh... Well that answered that question, thanks! Me to bank: kill the card now!!! It was suggested by Mark that ideas on how Alternate Race Boons are distributed should be its own thread, so I am starting one. Currently these are some of the ways of getting Boons for races outside of Core races.
1. Not Everyone can attend a convention, due to schedule or finance
People are looking for other options for giving out boons, but I think some people are forgetting one thing, based on the idea that they are not opening up the noncore races in the Advanced Race Guide to everyone, the distribution needs to be rare and require some work, and some of the ideas did not take that into account. I am not a fan of Buying them, just seems wrong. I am not a fan of them being a reward for a 2 or 3 part series of scenarios, that would cause those scenarios to be extremely popular and make the boon not rare. I am a fan of giving them out a GM star award, but we need to be patient with tech to be able to do this. They should be limited through this *Limit amount of downloads?* but GMs should still be allowed to give them to other players just like the boons now. In my area there are plenty of Racial boons, they have either gotten them from Conventions, Players who went to conventions giving them to other players or the Beginner Box Bash so I don't fit the group of people who want the distribution to change, but I can see their point. So what other ideas do we have? One thing I would suggest that would not require a VC, would be for your coordinator to convince the local store to run an event for the release of Advanced Race Guide, and send that plan to Mike to try to convince him to give you racial boons for support of the event. This is something many areas can do. I am proud to say I ran the first Pathfinder Society game in the UK at Gen Con UK 2008! Here is a Pic of the First PFS game in the UK!! I met some great people there and played with still some of the best GMs I have got the chance to play with. I hope to someday in the future head back there to play with them again. Thanks guys for still my best Convention memory! Here are the rest of my pics from Gen Con UK 2008. Ok things have gotten interesting recently.. So 2 things have happened, about 2 games back Vedavrex Misraria joined the group in hopes they will get her closer to Deloral Parastric. She has them convinced that Izon captured him and she needs their help in freeing him. The Group is currently Helping Izon but have agreed that if she helps them in freeing/finding Eando Kline they will help her in return. So she has been working with the group. Tonight They fell for Selaxasp pretending to be Selennia, which surprised the hell out of me, they did not even seem to be suspicious at all which was unlike the group. I guess I did a convincing job... Anyway she has also convinced the group to let her join to help find Eando Kline. So Why am I posting this? Looking for some ideas on what to do with these two. Like to keep it going a bit and have them totally surprised. What should I avoid? Anyone do anything like this? I did not see a Congratulation post so adding one. Congrats Adam Daigle with your new job at Paizo! Now I will have an excuse on why I only see you at Conventions..;) Just some clarifications I need with invisibility.. PFRPG Pg 563 wrote: A creature can generally notice the presence of an active invisible creature within 30 feet with a DC 20 Perception check. Can you detect an invisible creature with perception if he is beyond 30'? If so, why even mention it? I am assuming unless the spell is an Area spell or an touch/ranged attack you can't cast them against an invisible creature, correct? Does this mean you can't dispel invisibility? First I would like to thank Mike for grandfathering the The Ruby Phoenix Tournament to the old Module rules for a short time, without that we would not been able to play the module. We just had a 2 day event at my house with running The Ruby Phoenix Tournament, since most likely would be the only time I will ever get to run this locally due to its high level I allowed 7 players to join in. We had a great time and would love to go over our experience with all of you, highlighting some of it. To start off here was a group make-up Dwarf Barbarian 10
To start off the group decided to make the combat rounds more interesting they would only send 4 of their group into the Combat Rounds, while using all 7 during Tests and Exhibitions. Arrival Spoiler:
They arrived at the island being sent by the PFS to the fanfare of the crowd, right away at the Yon Loi’s Noodle House they were suspicious of the food and the cleric decided the next day he would have detect poison memorized(which would be helpful later on). Right away they tracked down rumors of the dragon Huyanwo, and were looking forward to possibly going head to head against him. Day 1 Spoiler:
For the competitions that day they had no problems taking down their competitors, though on the Breaking Competition they did fail to break Metal bar. That night the cleric discovered the food was poisoned but the group decided to keep that to themselves to help dwindle down their opponents.
Day 2 Spoiler:
Oddly enough the Bard in the group was an Archer build (Who has ever heard of an Archer build Bard!) and had no problem with Test 2: Archery. For the other events they had no problems. I was sure the Oracle was going to give them problems in the Test of Three Towers, but they took care of her with no problems. That night after the Poison the day before and meeting Donguma they know something fishy is going on but still don't have enough info.
Day 3 Spoiler:
This is when things start getting a little more difficult for the group. During Boar and Tiger Exhibition the Gnome was able to take care of the Boar in short order, but the next event they almost lost their first PC. I was certain that the group would have no problem in Battle of the Embers, I mean really, 4 Bards? But I was wrong. The Magus started off by casting black tentacles, thoroughly rooting the bards in place. The bards not being fully familiar with the spell decided to put all effort against the magus in hopes taking him down would take the spell down (false assumption), so they used all their wordstrike against him taken him down him after striking him over and over. sadly for the Magus he was on a bed of coals and the damage taken from that from being prone on them killed him. Luckily for the Magus the Cleric was only a step away and was able to use breath of life on his burning body saving him from destruction and an early cremation. After words the group was able to finish off the Bards. They had no problems the rest of the day and where easily able to survive the ambush later that night. Now certain that the Golden League
Day 4 Spoiler:
Though they had no deaths during the Blood and Mud round, they did take a beating. They ended the fight with the Gnome Sorcerer feebleminded from Hok Fong the Eunuch, -1 Dex drain and -3 Str and -3 Con damage from the Leech Swarms and the Monk -2 Str and -2 Con damage from the Leech Swarms. Though they won, it cost them. Sadly the cleric would have to wait on the morrow to fix them, which would put them on a disadvantage for the rest of the day. Because of their disadvantage they decided not to take the Emissary up on taken out the dragon which was a huge disappointment to them but of course they had no idea they would meet him later ;). During the Iron Body test the Human Barbarian had no issues completing all the challenges. Of course this all leads to the kidnapping of Marthysan the Righteous, and the group decides to track him down, as soon as the discover the Aspis Consortium is involved they resolve to save them even though they know their Sorcerer and Monk are not all there. They track him down to New Harbor and proceed to attack the Aspis Consortium. They do hear something large flying around but they can't see the invisible brine dragon. The little Gnome that could, feebleminded, even got into to action! During the combat they were ripped apart by Huyanwo the brine dragon but where able to defeat him, but sadly the Rogue, who got hit with a hold person was coup de grâce by the Aspis Consortium Rogue, killing him. He would have stay dead for the night. So that day was not a good one.
Day 5 Spoiler:
The final day started off by bringing back their friend from death and removing the effects from the day before, though the Rogue would still have 1 negative level for the rest of the day. They were easily able to take care of Seishuku with a glitterdust But the Exhibition "They of Two Heads" did not go well for them. Right off they suspected they were not facing a normal Ettin but had no clue what they were really facing. The Rogue did his normal shtick of waiting for a greater invisibility and went directly for the disguised Atamahuta. Boy was he surprised when the Atamahuta looked directly at him and obliterated him with his orc double axe. And the Rogue goes down again, this time for the rest of the tournament. Though it was a tough fight the rest of the group were able to kill the Atamahuta. After taken care of the riddle the group moves on to the Final Fight. Much to my chagrin Gomwai did not last a round and his rest of his party wisely surrendered. But of course that is when the twins' decided to get their revenge. The twins' fully aware of the group tactics where buffed up the wazoo and surprised the group shortly after Gomwai fell. Though they were able to disable Wu Dizhen they still had a 13 level Wizard flying around with greater invisibility on her. After a lot of back and forth and a cleric playing a mime in his forcecage, the Magus was able to convince Wu Jufeng if she did not surrender he would kill her sister. Though the Magus failed in scaring her in surrendering he did convince he would follow through on the threat so she grabbed her sister and teleported away to come back in another 10 years to try again. Though the twin sisters escaped the Emissary formally declares the PCs the champions of the Ruby Phoenix Tournament! Before it all ends the cleric decides to once more bring back the Rogue. That is 2 he owes the cleric and Asmodeus ;).

Does True Strike negate the miss chance of Invisibility? Relevant rules True Stike wrote: You gain temporary, intuitive insight into the immediate future during your next attack. Your next single attack roll (if it is made before the end of the next round) gains a +20 insight bonus. Additionally, you are not affected by the miss chance that applies to attackers trying to strike a concealed target. Invisibility wrote: Even once a character has pinpointed the square that contains an invisible creature, the creature still benefits from total concealment (50% miss chance).
Mike made the following comment in another thread that reminded me of something I brought up a while back but never got an answer for and I think it is a good time to bring it up again. Michael Brock wrote: Yes, if you complete the requisite number of encounters as outlined in the 4.1 Guide, then you would receive a Chronicle minus the gold not earned from not finishing encounters, as well as items marked off the Chronicle that were not recovered in the course of play. That brings up the following questions... If you don't complete the requisite number of encounters as outlined in the 4.1 Guide do you not receive a chronicle sheet? And if you don't can you play the scenario again later to receive the the 1 allowed player Chronicle? Do you report non Competed Scenario? Do you still get GM credit for non Competed Scenarios? Though I am afraid I am about to dip my toe watery quagmire I have some questions about Boons from Conventions. Some of the Boons don't seem to mention that only one of them can be added to a Character and I am wondering if that was intended? As an example I have 5 free vanity Boons and there is nothing on the boons from stopping me from adding all 5 to 1 PC, or another example I have 3 Trained eye Boons (+2 [un-typed] Bonus to perception), same thing I can add those 3 to one character and get a +6 to my perception. Is this a non-issue? or Something not intended? I keep getting errors with my shopping cart and I have not been able to complete the purchase. Usually I get to the point where I try to adjust the Store Credit to 0 *don’t want to use it with this purchase* and then it errors out with a notification that you guys have been notified. Been happening since last night on 2 different PCs. One of my players this weekend cast Firewall and when he drew it out he drew it in a Zigzag formation that would cause any creature going through the firewall to have to cross more than one to go through it. Now I always though Firewall had to be a straight line from beginning to end but he pointed out to me it does not actually say that in the spell. Am I missing something? Can it go in a Zigzag formation? I have been asked by a Local Convention to run Pathfinder Society again this year. ChimaeraCon 2012 – April 6 – 8 Last year we had 2 Tables per 4 hour slot for a total of 12 Tables, this year they asked me to run 6 Tables per 4 hour slot for a total of 36 Tables! If you have been to the convention in the past they have moved to a new location expect a much larger convention this year. I am looking for GMs to help me make PFS at the convention a success! If you are interested you can post here or email me at dragnmoon(at)gmail(dot)com. If you just want to play I look forward to seeing you there as well! -Steve (Dragnmoon) I was going to post a huge rant about last year’s 4 Star/VC exclusive scenario being included as one of the 2 releases for this month (still a little upset about that). But then I realized something... I am assuming that the new 4 Star/VC exclusive will also be released to those that can run it next month to make up for the lack of a new scenario? I had an interesting ruling this weekend by a GM I did not agree with, but after talking about the ruling I saw where they were coming from. The topic is how much Movement it takes to use acrobatics through threatened squares while moving diagonally. It was ruled by the GM that it would take 3 squares to move diagonally while using acrobatics. The reason for this was that he was using the rules for moving through difficult terrain. Core book pg 193 wrote: Each square of difficult terrain counts as 2 squares of movement. Each diagonal move into a difficult terrain square counts as 3 squares. I did not see it that way, I saw moving diagonally the first time as still only 5ft, the second time as moving 10ft as normal, that the squares do not count as more squares that my movement was just halved. Acrobatics Core book pg 87 wrote: you can move through a threatened square without provoking an attack of opportunity from an enemy by using Acrobatics. When moving in this way, you move at half speed. Though it may seem the same there is a Huge difference. Thoughts? Edit: My brain is going in circles... is there a difference? I am working on Making a Tiefling Wizard/Pathfinder Savant PFS Legal Character *I have a boon that allows me to play a tiefling* and I am looking for some advice. I would like to work on the theme that Pathfinder Savants are good with Use Magic Device and I am looking for things that are Pathfinder Society legal that will add onto that in anyway, but particularly on making use of Wands and Scrolls more powerful. Anyone know of anything like that? Ok a Bit confused about one of the Vanities in Pathfinder Society Field Guide Pathfinder Society Field Guide Pg 62 wrote: Ship (10 PP):...You may use Profession (sailor) checks to make Day Job rolls. Ummm why the need to add that last line? Since Profession (sailor) is a Profession you can already use it to make a Day Job roll with out that Vanity... Ok, This may come up today and I want to make sure I have this right... Alchemist Vs Blue Dragon's Desert Thirst seems like it would go very bad for the Alchemist (Lv 9 in this case) Bestiary Pg 94 wrote: Desert Thirst (Su) A blue dragon can cast create water at will (CL equals its HD). Alternatively, it can destroy an equal amount of liquid in a 10-foot burst. Unattended liquids are instantly reduced to sand. Liquid-based magic items (such as potions) and items in a creature’s possession must succeed on a Will save or be destroyed. The save DC is Charisma-based. I think this would destroy all of the Alchemist Potions/Extracts/Mutagens/Bombs, just trying to figure out how to treat them Potions (Magical) - This one is easy Saving throw would be 2 + 1/2 its caster level (rounded down) or Alchemist Will save. Extracts (Magical) - Same as above but based on the Alchemist level so the bonus to the Saving throw would be +6 or Alchemist Will save. Mutagens (Non Magical?) - I am thinking these are treated as Non-Magical so it would get Alchemist Will save. Bombs (Non Magical?) - Same as above, I am thinking these are treated as Non-Magical so it would get Alchemist Will save. All sound about right? This could make a Alchemist very unhappy There is some Funk going on at my Subscription Page.. Pathfinder Battles: Heroes & Monsters Black Dragon Booster got separated from Pathfinder Battles: Heroes & Monsters Case, shouldn't those ship together? Also it seems my Shipping Cost and provider changed for Pathfinder Battles: Heroes & Monsters Cases from USPS to UPS and went up in price. Is that related to above, or something else? I just picked up Return of The Eight, and planning on converting it to Pathfinder. Anyone know of any good Greyhawk modules that would work well with this one so I can work out a campaign out of them? I Updated Pathfinder Battles Subscription Quantities from 2 cases & premiums to 3 cases & premiums, but my side cart of Pathfinder Battles: Heroes & Monsters Black Dragon Booster & Pathfinder Battles: Heroes & Monsters Case did not change from 2 to 3. Can you please adjust them so I am getting 3 of each? I have 3 Orders coming in November 1700961 - D&D Miniatures—Dragon Collector's Set $12.17 Shipping
Is there any combination of the 3 above that would save me in Shipping fees? *Mumbles something about only Venture-Captains being credited for organizing these* Mike when will those of us organizing this get the stuff to do it and all the details surrounding them? Soo looking forward to running this.. Also on the Beginner Bash Page.. Dragon's Lair San Antonia? When did the City become a female?..;) I just asked if Paizo was going to add a Barbarian PreGen to the list of Pregens and I got this answer. F. Wesley Schneider wrote:
Well I for one am interested! If you guys are to tell Paizo that in this thread! Let's let them know. With iOS5 out now they added the ability of AirPlay Mirroring which allows you to stream the iPad screen through Apple TV to your HDTV. I am looking for ideas how to take advantage of this for RPG games. I just started playing around with it last night and Apps that support direct TV connect sees the AirPlay Mirroring as directly connecting to the TV so it goes into that mode. An example playing a Game that supports it goes into Full screen mode instead of the 4x3 the iPad screen is. Goodreader supports this as an example. I was apple to put my PDFs on the screen and zoom into the maps to show them on the TV. I can also show Pics as well. Any ideas out there of Apps that can take advantage of this new feature that would work well with a RPG game? Ok I am new the Call of Cthulhu and looking for some advice. At this point I only own the latest Edition and some adventures. I am planning on running Masks of Nyarlathotep, as soon as my Serpent's Skull AP is done and I am wondering if there are any support material that will be helpful? Also what are some good Call of Cthulhu RPG books that would be useful to running a game in general?
