Day of the Demon is a scenario that no Pathfinder Society player should miss out on, so encourage your regional coordinator or local celebrity GM to run this one for you.

I take offense to this! I am a world wide PFS celebrity GM!... ;)

Edit: Not only that I have found Proof that Mike is raising an Army of Red Shirts to accomplish his evil plans!!!

So I decided to make a post about what Gods are allowed for PCs in PFS because we see a lot of posts on the subject. I am going to use the Guide and Additional Resources to make my list. For each God I will add what the source is and what Alignment the PC needs to be. Since Gods may be added later on I am making this a Doc you can get here. Feel free to post in this thread if you see any errors, I will update the doc accordingly.

First let’s go over the rules for religion in the Guide.

PFS Guide pg 10 wrote:
Characters can elect to worship any deity listed in a table of gods in the Core Rulebook, The Inner Sea World Guide, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Gods and Magic, or any other source listed as an official Additional Resource.

It is important to note for the Core Rulebook, The Inner Sea World Guide, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Gods and Magic the God must be listed on a table.

PFS Guide pg 10 wrote:
Characters may elect to worship an evil god, but must always be within one alignment step of their chosen deity.

No matter what class you are if you pick a god you must be within one alignment step of your chosen God.

PFS Guide pg 10 wrote:
Clerics, inquisitors, paladins, cavaliers of the order of the star, and samurai of the order of the star must choose a deity as all classes in Golarion that receive spells and abilities from a specific divine source receive their powers from a deity. Druids, oracles, and rangers are the exception to this rule. The list is not exhaustive, and divine spellcasters of any future classes whose sources are added as additional resources to the Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign will be required to choose a deity unless otherwise specified. Otherwise, characters who do not receive powers from a divine source may choose to be atheists or to have no deity at all.

So Clerics, inquisitors, paladins, cavaliers of the order of the star, samurai of the order of the star, and divine spellcasters of any future classes whose sources are added as additional resources (unless otherwise specified) are required to choose a deity. Druids, oracles, and rangers are the exception to this rule. Characters who do not receive powers from a divine source may choose to be atheists or to have no deity at all. This is fairly self-explanatory.

Now onto Gods that are allowed for PCs

First off the Guide states deities listed in a table of gods in the Core Rulebook, The Inner Sea World Guide, Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Gods and Magic are authorized. Here is what is added through Additional Resources (minus the Goblin Gods):

Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Dragon Empires Gazetteer: Gods: All gods listed on pages 58-63
Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Gods and Magic: Gods: all of the gods listed on the inside front cover are legal choices for clerics (already mentioned in the Guide)
Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea World Guide: Gods: All gods listed in the tables on pages 229, 231, and 234 (already mentioned in the Guide, even though additional resources leaves out the gods on page 217, those are just the restated core gods,)
Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Magnimar, City of Monuments: Gods: All gods listed in the tables on page 25 are legal
Pathfinder Player Companion: Dragon Empires Primer: Gods: All gods listed on pages 26-27
Pathfinder Player Companion: Dwarves of Golarion: Gods: all gods listed on the inside front cover (note that all gods with favored weapons listed as "hammer" should read "warhammer")
Pathfinder Player Companion: Elves of Golarion: Gods: all gods on page 10
Pathfinder Player Companion: Gnomes of Golarion: Gods: all gods on the inside front cover

Here is the full list of Gods allowed in PFS in alphabetical order.

Ok, I think I may be either reading this feat wrong or it is not a well worded feat.

Advanced Race Guide pg 159 wrote:

Cloud Gazer

Your insight into your elemental heritage gives you a clarity of sight few humans possess.
Prerequisite: Sylph.
Benefit: You can see through fog, mist, and clouds, without penalty, ignoring any cover or concealment bonuses from such effects. If the effect is created by magic, this feat instead triples the distance you can see without penalty.

My problem is the last bolded line, I think most if not all of the cloud spells there is always concealment even if you are standing right next to someone within the cloud (20% miss chance), so how do you triple the distance you can see without penalty when there is no distance you can see without penalty?

I know I am going to get different opinions from PFS Members on this, and I am hoping to get an answer from Mike, though I usually don't like posting threads that only Mike can answer...

We had a 6th level PC die today and he was brought back as a Wraith. The group had to run away and leave his Wraith and body behind.

So I know only a Resurrection will work on someone that was turned into an Undead but the Undead creature needs to be destroyed first, so my question is does having your body recovered by a rescue team for 5pp Cover this? Will the "rescue team" destroy his wraith and bring back the body, or his he dead and unrecoverable?

So I noticed that one of the items in this order changed to Backorder from Pending.

Can I get an Estimate on how much time that is going to add on this order being delivered?

If it is going to be a long time I might just get it removed from the order since the other products I want more.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am bit confused with crafting constructs, part of it is that they seem not to follow normal magic item crafting rules in places.

Skill: So I was reading Ultimate Magic and the Crafting Constructs section mention that the DC matches the same for Magic items DC = 5 + CL of the item, but none (or most) of the Constructs actually follow that in the construction rules. For example Wood Golem says CL 7th so the DC should be 12, but the Skill section says Craft (carpentry) DC 17, which does not actually match the rules. What is with this?

Also on Skills it seems that you have to have the skill and you can't use spellcraft in it's place like all the other magic items.

Another issue is with Magic items you can ignore any requirement by adding +5 to the DC except the Item Creation Feat, but for Constructs you Also can't ignore the CL of the construct, which is different from the normal rules for magic item creation.

Am I missing something? particularly with the skill requirements.

I have a player flagging all of a sudden already playing a Module for PFS that is allowed to replay.

He has played We Be Goblins! 3 times and given credit to 3 different characters. We Be Goblins! is allowed to be replayed so it should not flag that error.

Can this be fixed and cleared out?

Spoiler:
He played the following 3 times

Event #13,968 Session #22 Character #46795-1
Event #10,798 Session #55 (The one flagging) Character #46795-2
Event #13,968 Session #32 Character #46795-3

I have an Order sitting around, #2367515, waiting to be shipped that is now causing me problems.

I want to Change the Credit Card used for my Subscriptions from my Debit Card to my Credit card due to the major increase in costs this month from the Minis but the above Order is not allowing me because If I change the to the credit card it will also do the same for the Above Order.

I need to do this before the authorizations go out on January 18th for the subscriptions.

Is there a good chance this order will go out before that so I will have time to change my paying method?

So I remember Mike saying he wanted to bring the rules for Modules closer together so there would be less confusion but I noticed a Big difference tonight.

During a Module if a pregenerated character dies they may sell the pregens equipment to bring the pregen back to life, but for scenarios this is not the case.

Is this difference intentional?

I would like to put in the request to give more then one person Edit access to Specific PFS Events.

This ability would be a great boon for Coordinators/VCs/VLs in areas that have multiple PFS events.

So I am currently working on adding a Pathfinder Society Special to our local schedule and I have two (Three?) questions on Overseer GMs.

Do I report Overseer GMs for GM Credit (And Special credit) on the Pazio site, and if so should I report him/her as a GM with no players.

Does an Overseer GM get GM credit towards a character?

An interesting message on the top of the Paizo page appeared...

What do you guys think is happening that might take that long of a time?

Are they replacing those ducks they are always trying to get into a row with ponies?

Did someone forget to feed the Gerbil?

Is the entity known as PostMonster General preparing for his release into the matrix?

Or...

Is the cable man coming and they have to close down to wait for him to come there and the cable company could not give an exact time of his arrival, just some time between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.

I like this change for this season, as a coordinator it is always difficult to schedule multi-part scenarios where everyone who play one part gets to play the next.

Now let's all guess the 2 returning Villains!!!

So a while back, almost 2 years ago, you guys posted in a blog that you "will be releasing at least one low-level Pathfinder Society Scenario each month from now on". I just noticed in that for September and November there will not be a Tier 1-5 scenario.

Is this a new change to the above policy? Did this change already happen in the past and I did not notice? Are you now considering tier 3-7 low-level?

inquiring minds would like to know.. ;)

With season 4 set in Varisia there are some great resources out there for GMs to look through to add more detail to their Season 4 games. By far this has been the season I have most looked forward into running due to the many resources available that I can use to add so much more depth into my PFS games. I decided to make a list of those resources for PFS GMs. Some of these books are major resources while other only have a paragraph or two. I am going to separate them so GMs can see the difference while trying to list good sections in them. Though my goal is to make this list exhaustive I may have missed some stuff, feel free to add what you think I missed. There are also books coming in the future that may fit on this list but since I do not know their usefulness I did not add them.

These 4 books in my opinion are the major resources for Season 4, all of these I think GMs would gain a lot from reading them. The entirety of these books are useful.

Here is a list of resources though are not specific to Varisia or not something you can get something from every page, they still have some useful information.

Adventure Paths

These Adventure Paths are full set in Varisia and are chuck of of tidbits GMs may be able to use. I will point out specific articles that are of use.

Rise of the Runelords

Curse of the Crimson Throne

Shattered Star

Second Darkness - Though not fully set in Varisia there are a couple of useful articles.

Campaign Setting

Player Companion

The following resources only have a few good tidbits, as much as a page or 2 or as little as a paragraph.

Campaign Setting

Player Companion

Here is a list of Modules that are set in Varisia or fits well.

Here are a List of Maps GMs will find useful

Feel free to add anything I missed

So someone in another thread pointed out something to me that I never noticed, specifically that the Paladin Codes from Faiths of Purity and Faiths of Balance are not on the Additional Resources list.

Was this an oversight or are they not meant to be legal for PFS play?

Sorry for bugging you again on this order, but since it is not related with the original issue of the comics, I made a new post.

My pending order #2168589 correctly States that I will be getting the following..

Pathfinder #1 (Standard Cover—Matteo Scalera)
Pathfinder #1 (Standard Cover—Lucio Parillo)
Pathfinder #1 (Standard Cover—Dave Dorman
Pathfinder #1 (Standard Cover—Erik Jones)
Pathfinder #1 (paizo.com Exclusive Cover)
2x Pathfinder Battles: Rise of the Runelords Case Bundle
2x Pathfinder Battles: Rise of the Runelords Rune Giant

But I just got an email stating that I am getting the following.

1 x Pathfinder Battles: Rise of the Runelords Standard Booster Case.

Is that a mistake in the email or was the Standard Booster Case mistakenly shipped to me instead of the Case Bundle?

As you mentioned in the post about my Comics, I am already excepting as much as 3 packages in the shipment. So only getting one is not the issue yet, Though I am curious how the full shipment will be shipped.

Lets us post our Good/Fun or Funny Experiences at GenCon!

Here are mine

Thursday

Slot 2: GMing Rise of the Goblin Guild - The group did an excellent job of completing a very challenging Scenario with zero deaths though it got close at times.

Slot 3: GMing Rise of the Goblin Guild - Our "Flaming" Elf who I am sure now has some new fears from his harrowing experience in this scenario showed us that even at conventions strangers will get together to help bring back a character that the player has put some time into.

Friday

Slot 4: Playing Portal of the Sacred Rune - Got to play with our closest VC and got to use my Bards fascinate for the first time!

Slot 6: GMing Special Part I - Happy my group got to part II, would like to know how they did.

Saturday

Slot 9: Playing King of the Storval Stairs - Everyone got to see my Bard go down many times! They got to witness his lying down sexy dance. We came up with a plan to lead my Blind Bard around (Before they removed it) just so he can do his sexy dance to inspire everyone while blind.

Sunday

Slot 10: GMing In Wrath's Shadow - Had the pleasure of having the Author of the scenario, Mike Shel, sit at our table to watch the game.

I was hoping this was cleared up, But just got an email...

All 5 of my Comics are shipping in 5 different shipments.

I don't want to keep this subscription if this will ever happen.

I don't want to set to Hold for monthly Paizo shipment because I don't want to wait for my Minis.

Can we set up a way for just the Comics to wait for my monthly subscription but not the Minis?

If not please cancel the comics, I don't want to the subscription if I have to pay the extra shipping fees, I would rather just order then myself without the subscription and just set them to hold for next order like I normally do with non subscription orders.

Personally for myself I feel it is bad form for a GM in a PFS game to finish off a character that went into negative hitpoints with their remaining attacks once they are down, unconscious and bleeding unless there are extreme circumstances. As examples:

Dying PC caught in an area effect spell, channel etc...
Monster specifically called out to do so in tactics (looking for food, etc)
A PC who is shown during the battle to continually come back up and is too dangerous every time and the monsters are smart enough to catch that, though this should be rare.

I am curious how other GMs feel about this? I don't get to play often and I experienced this at GenCon while playing there and was so surprised when it happened.

Is it something I should expect from most GMs or did I run into a rarity?

Don't get me wrong I have killed PCs before, even killed one with 1 hp left with a rend from a Gug (I blame Kyle!), but I have never killed a PC once he was down and out of the fight when it did not match the above examples, and even then it was only when the body was in an area effect.

PS to the above GM, though I did not agree with you doing the above, I still enjoyed the game you ran and would like to thank you for bringing the game to the hotel when we ran out of time in the PFS room.

So I am still confused about Level 12 and the Retirement Scenarios.

I know the purpose for the rule on page 27 of the guide is to stop players from finishing the retirement arc at Level 14.

Here is my dilemma...

Though Unlikely there is a chance that I will get to play Part II of the GenCon Special if I am one of the Random picked GMs. I would like to play my Character that will be reaching Level 12 at GenCon.

If at Level 12 I start going on The Slow Track would I be able to play the special (If picked) and then play the Retirement Arc? That would leave me with 36 exp (13th level) by the end of the retirement Arc.

So I have not seen much Guidance for either players or GMs on Season Faction Goals.

For Players how does it work is there links in the story that they may see that could lead towards the faction goal? Or do they have to go wonder on their own?

For GMs is there guidance in the scenarios on the Season Faction Goals or do they just make it all up on the fly?

Does every scenario have the potential for a season faction goal for all factions or do just some?

I have been working on our Pathfinder Society Page and I have a quick question.

I took the Pathfinder Society Organization symbol and made it seamless for the background of the page.

Here is the page.

Is that considered manipulation enough to break the Community Use Policy?

So I am not sure if I have brought up this question before and my search Fu failed me this time so I apologize if this has been answered already.

So we all know the rules for applying credit for playing a higher then level 1 Pregen, you have 2 choices when playing a scenario.

Choice 1:

PFS Guide Pg 4 wrote:
If you play a non-1st-level pregenerated character, you can apply the credit to your character as soon as she reaches the level of the pregenerated character played.

Choice 2:

PFS Guide Pg 4 wrote:
You may also opt instead to apply the credit from the non-1st-level pregenerated character played to a newly created character with the GP gained reduced to 500 GP (or 250 for characters using the slow advancement track).

So here is the situation I will be having tomorrow I am running two 7-11 games with one of my players playing a level 7 pregen in both of them, the first game is not a problem they are playing in Sub-Tier 7-8 and once his PC reaches Level 7 he will apply the chronicle to his PC. The second game though is a bit different, we will be playing in Sub-Tier 10-11. So my question is, one that I could not find the answer in the Guide or FAQ, was when he applies the chronicle to his PC once he reaches level 7 does he get the credit for Sub-Tier he played in (10-11) or does he get the credit for the sub-tier of his PC (7-8)?

I ask anyone Other then Mike Brock, I will trust his word on it ;), who has an answer to please post a link to where this has been answered already or a link to a reference I may have missed. Thanks!

Otherwise feel free to post your opinions, and supporting statements. :)

So Natural Armor seem to be odd when it comes to stacking, and I am trying to track down some things.

Here is what I am seeing, My Alchemist seems to have a Natural Armor of +10 when all buffed up (in HeroLabs) and after looking for closely it does not seem to be accurate. Here is where all his bonuses are coming from.

+2 natural armor bonus from Mutagen
+4 natural armor bonus from monstrous physique II
+4 natural armor enhancement bonus from barkskin

Now do all these stack?

It seems to me the enhancement bonus would only with the greater of the first 2, or is "natural armor bonus" considered untyped?

There is one piece of feedback I will like to give on the new PFS page, it is not obvious anywhere on how a new player signs up.

It really needs an obvious new player link like the old page had.

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

There are a few things that state you can't take 10 in, to include Aid Another and Use Magic Device.

Oddly enough I don't see anything that links you Can't take 10 to you also Can't take 20, though it would make sense.

Is there a rule I am missing?

I am bit confused about the wording on Rapid Reloader for Musket Master (Archetype).

UC pg 51 wrote:
At 1st level, a musket master gains Rapid Reload (muskets) as a bonus feat.

I am a bit confused about using muskets instead of musket, is it intended that you only have Rapid Reload (musket), Rapid Reload for any weapon with Musket in it, or are you supposed to pick which musket it is used for?

Edit: Normally you have to pick the specific weapon, so if you want Rapid Reload for Musket, Double-Barreled you would need to pick Rapid Reload (musket, Double-Barreled), using the word muskets, instead of the correct way just musket is what is confusing me.

Mike snuck in a FAQ update This week, did I miss the announcement?

If my PC or pregenerated character dies permanently, what happens?
Player characters and pregenerated characters who do not return to the realm of the living receive 0 XP, 0 PP, 0 gold, and no items or boons. This is marked on their Chronicle sheet along with a note that the character is permanently dead. If a player was planning to hold the Chronicle from a pregenerated character and apply it to a lower level PC once the PC reached the level of the pregenerated character, they must either apply the Chronicle sheet immediately and report the PC as dead or assign the Chronicle sheet to a new level 1 PC (ie a new PC number) and report that character as dead.

That is important bit of information for Pregens, will have to pass that along to my GMs.

So let us all try to guess what Project Swallowtail is...

What do we know about Swallowtail?

It is the Autumnal Equinox festival for Desna

"Swallowtail Festival: Day of feasting, storytelling, and public release of a wagonload of butterflies."

It is also...

The festival in the very beginning of Burnt Offerings in Sandpoint when the Goblins attack.

My guess it is a Boardgame set in sandpoint somehow related to the Goblin attack, maybe saving sandpoint from the Goblins or some such?

What do you all think?

Edit: I may be cheating with my guess that it is a boardgame

When I first read Clustered Shots something caught my eye but I was not sure what it exactly meant

Clustered Shots wrote:
Benefit: When you use a full-attack action to make multiple ranged weapon attacks against the same opponent, total the damage from all hits before applying that opponent's damage reduction.

The same opponent caught my eye.

This came up tonight in our game I was GMing with Zen Archer with a ton of attacks he decided to split up between 2 opponents.

My question is can Clustered Shots be used against multiple opponents with splitting up your attacks or does same opponent mean it all has to be used against one opponent to work?

I ruled in favor of the Player but told him I would post this question on the forums.
