Doctor Watson (no, not that one. My name is Arthur. Honestly, I could just kill that Doyal fellow) is a surgeon by trade, but, being a loyal citizen of the commonwealth, dutifully signed up an shipped out to defend the Empire when his father, Rear Admiral Reginald Watson, told him there were stirrings of war coming out of Europe.
The combination of an impressive intellect, a level head, and a youth spent getting into scrapes on three continents (by virtue of being raised by his father), made him a uniquely qualified man. He joined the Navy and would have followed in his father's footsteps, but the Crown had other plans for him. In the mid 1930s MI6 approached him and asked him to serve, he gladly accepted.
And so, Doctor Arthur Watson joined , and helped found, Churchill's Secret Army, the one and only Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. It was because of the presence of Dr. Watson that Ian Flemming coined them the 'Baker Street Irregulars" earning Arthur no end of jibes from his fellows. What he and his fellows did over the course of the war has been expunged from the record, but much of it was spent hunting down SS operatives who were seeking strange objects in many corners of the world.
