I know there will be seats available. Bring your characters, and everything you need. There are a couple of people who can accomidate walk in players, BUT, prereg really helps the convention organizer. If you have not been to http://floridapfs.org/forums/ this is a good time to go. Its all good WJ, Gerry does a great job, and the Tampa Venture Officers have been supporting Orlando and Statewide events, on top of the Tampa tasks. I appreciate Joe and Kristie taking time to travel to more than a few events outside Tampa. I have given them a list of Florida events that historically have Pathfinder Society RPG as a focus. Boons have only been coming regionally in the past few events. Paizo supports conventions better than other companies do right now. Historically, other companies are a lot harder to ask for support, I recalling having to verify all kinds of things for a simple boon to another outfit. If I can compliment Mike Brock without sounding like a brown noser, I like the cut of his jib. He takes an interest in the game, and is making great choices. I have no doubt that Mike knows how to help an organizer, and will give me cause to quote cliched compliments in the future. Thanks to VL Joe who just newly moved to Tampa, we have a nice snazzy website for Florida Pathfinders to use! http://floridapfs.org/ Make sure you get into the forums. Look for local game day plans, Convention insider information, and a lot of other things to make Pathfinder Society play here a lot easier to find! See you there! Kyle Baird wrote:
Part II releases a day before Memorial Day, so offering it at a Memorial Day weekend con is inadvisable, because of prep time. The Coordinator for Oasis knows his stuff, and would never offer an event that drops a day before the con opens. As an allied coordinator, I am going to offer this at another event in the future, and will make that known at Oasis. There are a couple of things I wanted to settle before making a public announcement for a convention in summer. There are unfortunately two convention events that weekend. I love this change Kyle, at future events this is going to help. I don't care for bacon sprinkles. Fromper wrote:
Good News Fromper! There will be a chance to play part two in the Sunshine State at a convention to be named shortly. I am shooting for an end of June plans. As an organizer, often I have to offer part one and part two, part one or just part two at the same or sequential conventions. I get stuck with the way the event s release, and by the time convention day comes part one sometimes doesn't make and I have a glut on part two. My concerns were for Pathfinder Society so RAW (subject to the campaign guide) is essential. Outside of RAW:
I have seen dog mounted halfling paladins charge and single shot demons while smiting with a lance, and they do less damage than what this weapon can do every time after the first round. There was some questions I started about the balance of the Double Hackbut, I have seen it dish out 2d12 three times, and with a critical or two single shot final encounters, (after every other encounter). This is without haste, or any other speed enhancement. Round one, set up cart.
The combination of musket master archetype, rapid shot and rapid reload with Alchemical cartridges lets you shoot like a belt fed machine gun. Physically, you ram a rod two times for each reloading. In order to shoot three times a round, you ram six times in six seconds while walking around the double hackbut cart. I thought about sundering, but to do that you have to be close, you can't get close. Removing the Double Hackbut is one easy solution. Pardon me for being dense. I read the rules, and they didn't speak to me as clearly as I thought. I also read the sources and failed my "reading comprehension" roll. Thanks for the perspective. The capacity of two implied two rounds, does that mean a double load instead, two charges and one bullet? I put one in the gunslinger on Herolab, and indeed it comes out as three attacks at 2d12 in one round. Even with a full round setup, you shoot, roll the cart 5 feet, and shoot again. Its like a belt fed automatic weapon. It sounds RIPE for an errata. Dragnmoon wrote:
I think I was confused. Hence the post. A double Hackbutt has two barrels though? You are firing each barrel three times? One barrels shot is 2d12? It says under Rapid Reload:
A two handed firearm is not a crossbow. I am confused about reloading at the last convention where I ran a player with a gunslinger. Without stopping the table to review a load of things, I let things slide. I am reading the rules, and wondering if I missed a FAQ What is the legal reload time for a one handed, and two handed firearm, and a double hackbut. Is it really a free action with rapid shot? It seems odd that someone is claiming that musket master applied a free action reload for other that weapons with musket in the name. Thod wrote: My son did GM his second scenario. He is still very young - so I like to help him. At the same time I like to encourage him to take the next step (he wanted to GM). One option would have been to be in the room and help when needed. Knowing his group (the junior league). My middle daughter just got her first star. I played mods I ran to get her started. She now runs like a pro and did like three or four mods at the last event I organized. I was her age when I started playing D&D in the 70s, but she's an old pro now! I play mods I ran a few times, it's not fun but it helps and serves the greater good. For those of you in the sunshine state, we have a facebook page to keep better contact. Go to Pathfinders of FLorida on Facebook I hope we can use this to share the load on judging, help plan better events, and enjoy our hobby. We have a convention about every other month and gamedays in many cities. Organizers want to hear what you would like the see on the schedule, where people want more public games, and how to get involved in planning great events playing a great RPG. See you at the game table! I made a mistake! I foolishly offered a module that Oasis is offering the next week in Orlando, sorry Gerry! There is an old engineering saying, "Better is the enemy of good enough!" What I mean is the measure of your slot should always be, did the party have fun. They had fun! BigNorseWolf wrote:
Exactly zero. A DM should know that, if not that's ok, you play on. You are in a nation that is Lawful Evil. The obvious issue, even if i knew nothing about Cheliax except alignment is that law and order are number one, and justice takes a back seat. In a lawful good nation, a Callistrian should get a similar but less capital punishment centered reception, as most moral upright nations would not allow a chaotic brothel to be out in the open either. Let's move the setting to Taldor. Not as much law and order but tolerance and decadence. The visitors to the brothel may sneak in but the government won't arrest and execute people. Heck, Duke Bob the Guard Overlord likes his feet ticked by a redhead elf girl, but not at his desk. It comes down to immersion. If the module says, "find the McGuffin!" we are not spending most of it on the trial of Bee Boy the Callistrian Cleric of Cheliax. That character should find a sense of peril, and a good judge can drop that into the stew of a good session, but it is not the main course. Honestly, don't be too hard on yourself! I think its better you are trying to improve every event even if you were Judge McSmoothy. Personally, I always look for ways to organize and judge better ever convention and game day. This was an event I organized so let me share my game day impressions. I didn't hear about issues from players Fromper, and I appreciate the help at the convention. For mid to upper deck, I always hear if there are problems. Players after a few levels will be very vocal about the judge very quickly. When I walked into the room, people were smiling and having fun, you didn't notice because you were working hard. The gauge of a good judge is simply this: "Did the table have fun?" It is less about knowing every sub case of the ruleset, and knowing how to manage the personalities involved, and help everyone have a good time. That you reached beyond your comfort level and tried it is a credit to you. They went off the tracks and you handled it! Many people would have been in a panic, and spoiling the fun trying shove them back on the rails. I usually will assign a lower and an higher module to judges so they can prep properly. Some will get two higher mods if they have been around the block a few times. I would give you another middle deck 5-9 module if you wanted it, and I think you can handle busy events just fine. In short, you were a fine judge and I would love for you to volunteer again. No kittens were injured in the running of that mod. I would love to see you volunteer at our busy cons, and I would schedule you without any hesitation. Please come back, you made the grade and we need all the help from good judges that we can get! Hypotheticals are easy. You are in Rahadoum and are a cleric walking around in robes and a great big holy symbol. Any NPC would certainly have you arrested. You are in Cheliax and are an elf openly sporting a Calistrian holy symbol making no effort to hide it. Many NPCs would turn you in just to see you tortured. Once we put "but if"s on the hypothetical questions, then it becomes a judge call that we on the internet are not able to make. If after telling a guy that people are pointing at you with that holy symbol out, they make no move to be a little smart then I would certainly have a reaction from NPCs. If he tucked the holy symbol away, and hid his ears under a cap, then I would probably ignore the display if it had nothing to do with the plot. If a judge misses it or ignores it, then oh well. Awesome! I am looking forward to you all attending. VL Kristie is coming across the state to run The Cyphermage Dilemma. I posted here at the last minute, and you know what, that was a mistake. Next time I will post here first, we have another event in Orlando next month, and I am running an event in Jacksonville, FL this summer. I promise to make sure I get a good flogging next time I visit Cheliax. Come to think of it, that's what happens every time I am in Cheliax...

As a frequent summoner, my approach is to announce I summon, grab my iPad and pull up a stat block of my desired creature. There is a third party iPad app for the PRD that has hyperlinks keyed off the SNA description, for those lesser unnatural summoners, there's a listing for the arcane version as well. (insert disclaimer here) I never have an issue using the PRD. I credit that to Paizo being so awesome! My iPad books weigh less than the hardcover ones. I have been asked to produce a book, and I simply open the pdf and I am done. I also own the summoning cards, and they are a great option if you don't have a pad of some sort. A pad is a great option for gaming though. (Thats despite failing to convince my wife to wear a Yeoman Rand costume and hand me my iPad.) When you come down to it, I have land, sea and air frequently called beasts for each level of SNA, the exceptions are easy to add, like the occasional elemental. You should need to summon every type of creature every game. I miss bison bombing, it was up there with the "wall of iron crushing your head" in the fromage department. My list: 1) Taco launcher special ability is banned for pole arms.
