Looks like you took a page from Savage Worlds - and I love it!
Jib wrote: Seems like a lull in the RPG industry. Do you know of anything new and exciting soon to be released? A friend of mine just turned me on to Eclipse Phase and I'm pretty interested in Tainted Lands.
I've also just recently started looking into the Gumshoe system, which isn't really new.

Although I agree with KaeYoss' earlier assessment, I was sure hoping for a Noqual Adapt - using the powers of his mind the Noqual Adapt can form noqual extensions to his body, temporarily gaining bonuses and abilities that reflect the melding...oh, wait. What in the hell am I talking about?!?
Mikaze wrote: During that Avatar game, we used a set of Savage World-themed cards to handle order of action and other such things. I think if you look around you can find a few additional themed-decks in PDF format too...
Stefan Hill wrote: Hmmm,
After reading all this I have splashed out on a copy of Savage Worlds. The idea however is to make my own world/campaign setting rather than buy one. Do they have good guidelines for such things in the main rulebook?
Cheers,
S.
You can actually go quite far with just the rules book... That said, what kind of world are you looking to create? If it's fantasy then there is a pretty all-inclusive FREE fantasy how-to HERE and they just released a Fantasy Companion.
I would start with that and maybe pick up some of their free One Sheets (one-shot adventures) to get a feel for the game. It's pretty fluid and forgiving (let's roleplay take center stage again in my opinion).

is there an official guesstimate when all the orders will be processed?
makes me wish I hadn't ordered two copies of the Pathfinder RPG book
truly, who can know what label the oracle will print next?
stardust wrote: EDIT: I just got my shipment notification! I guess I'm glad I separated out my orders instead of asking them to hold it and ship it all at once! ...do you live farther away from Seattle than Texas?
Charles Scholz wrote: I just looked at the covers for all the Council of Thieves. Why does # 25 have a white cover and all the rest have a red cover?
Those red ones are just stand-ins until the real deal is available...
stardust wrote: So some of the people that are subscribers got the PDFs but not others? Anyone know why? Somewhere in the bowels of Paizo there is a printer...it's like an oracle. "Who gets a shipment next?" the acolytes ask and out pops a label. If your name is on the label your credit card gets a hit. Then a magic gateway is opened and product appears in your downloads.
I theory, some higher being has directed the oracle to choose based on shipping time. If it takes longer to get to you, you stuff needs to get shipped sooner.

Argh!!! Seriously?!? When did you get the "We're fixin' to charge you" email?
I would be quite content with just the Crypt module...
Andre Caceres wrote: One word about the system, the group I play with dislikes the 'offical' magic system but now use something called WitchGirl Adventures. Although made for 13 year old girls the magic users in my group cannot say enough good things about that subsystem of SW, although I've never seen more wanna be wizards trying to hide their Grimores. Technically I cannot not comment because I'm not palying a magic user but if your leaning towards fantasy you might want to look into that book. I'm interesting in hearing more about WitchGirl... The freebies make it look suspiciously like Savage World but is it?
who cares, i totally pre-ordered mine forever ago :)
one of my favorite 3rd party supplement pieces is the old Expert Feats PDF which I use to create special NPCs sprinkled here and there... Adamant Entertainment is top notch!
People should get on the bandwagon or don't come crying to me later.
What is next week's preview?
If that's your list I would go for Hellfrost - there are a lot of supporting modules and future releases.
That said, right now you can get Suzerain (beta) for free HERE. Their Shaintar setting is pretty good.
The Day After Ragnarok is an interesting setting (hello, it's Kenneth Hite).
I just picked up RunePunk (by Reality Blurs) but haven't gone through it yet. They have Realms of Cthulhu coming soon!

what about a big module - covering 8-10 levels - sold all at once? You could cover something like 6-12 or 8-16 (or do I dare say, 15-18+)? It wouldn't have to be an AP, but rather just a big story.
Short of initiating a divorce, I would do just about anything to get my hands on Slumbering Tsar, or anything in the vein of older Necromancer games... I like stories, not This-Has-To-Fit-In-32-Pages (although I appreciate the niche they fill)
Vic Wertz wrote: Speaking generally—which is all I can really do—sales of high-level chapters have been lower than sales of low- and mid-level chapters in every AP where we approach high level. If I could hazard a guess, it may be because, high level AP entries appear to pose a greater hurdle than entry levels. If I have a level 1 adventure, anyone can roll up a character and play. If I have the 5th out of 6 adventures I have to wonder what I'm missing and whether I can use it solo. There is nothing in an AP volume that encourages solo-adventure play (especially consider The Impossible Eye - where is the help for the pick up game in the Brass City? Don't get me wrong, I love the adventure, I'm trying to look at this from a random consumer perspective).
woo-hoo! long live Pathfinder!

My email showed up on Sat, Aug 1, 2009 at 6:39 PM and I've been a wreck ever since! I mean I had sort of come to terms that the next week and a half are going to be rough but then this tease shows up...
I can't wait
I can't wait
I can't wait
no thanks
Interesting...I purchased all of the Knowledge cards -that was a pretty sweet idea! I appreciate having all that information distilled out in PDF form.
I hope you do a few more previews here on these forums.
i am so glad i've already pre-ordered this!!!
It is not out yet so you can still preorder it - the web site has been dead for months so I wouldn't send my credit card info through it, but maybe you can try emailing.
What is the game without a sincere fear of death?
Oh, can you please go ahead and send my copy now? :)
I'll throw my vote in with Trent Slabaugh and WelbyBumpus for Savage Worlds. It's a sound system with a faster progression than D20. There is a series of "toolkit" PDFs for sci-fi that should work for you.

You know there is already Level 1 combined PDF available free for yearly subscribers ...? why yes I do and I would add that it is amazing! It is worth every penny of $5 - getting it for free seems too good.
oh heck yes it's worth the money!!!
Ed Bourelle is doing all the maps (he did all the work in Ptolus plus countless other great products (inc a lot of Necromancer games)).
Monte is writing it.
Jason Bulmahn has a monthly Pathfinder conversion article.
If you subscribe, it's like you are exploring the dungeon (the city and the near by places of interest) since every weekday you get another room. You read it's details, imagine how the encounter would play out, get excited over the treasure, marvel over the mysteries, and start to piece together the various hints and clues to construct the tangled history. Then you get a little more the next day!
The first thing I do everyday is go to Dungeon A Day.
There are no days that have an empty room.
Every encounter (including the random encounters) are unique and memorable!
If you sign up during the special, you're talking about $0.32 a day!
What else can I tell you?

James Todd wrote: Not to derail things, but is 3.5 compatible with 3.5?
The number of just freakishly, horribly broken bits that arose from the sea of various books has caused me to be far less worried about PF. The number of times I've had a clever character grab a combination of WOTC-book feats and PRCs and end up with Galactus is staggering.
That's where for me the concern falls apart...it LOOKS like, at least, the closer to a vanilla/core book only 3.5 game you're running, the less jarring PFRPG will be....and the more splat books and expansions you add, sure you increase the risk of issues with PF, but you also increase the risk of issues with the core game.
excellent - I can confirm these suspicions through years of playtesting...
ordered!

But really, ENworld is where I find the traffic that I want and, more importantly, the conversation. ENworld is my home. It's where I started. Even if I bothered to run forums from my site, I'd still spend more time at ENworld.
Ok, I trudged through your article on iterative attacks...very impressive. I'm a mathematician (at heart, nobody pays me for it) so I'm drawn to your analysis and approach. As I've said, I'll be buying a copy. I may even start using the iterative bit in my current campaign.
Keep up the great work, and remember to post an occasional message over here for your fans that lurk away from ENWorld.

Old school dungeon crawl awaits!
Best choice you could have made!
...although I would also strongly suggest that you check out Dungeon a Day! It'a bit different in presentation, but amazing in ways that are at once both Old School and High Tech.
Best part is that as a DM, I get to feel like a player by "exploring" the dungeon with each new installment. Seriously, go take a peek...
I loved the GM Day preview back whenever, but to be honest I wish Wulf had a real website/blog instead of piggybacking on ENWorld - it seems cheap and I just don't like ENWorld (look-n-feel).
(why don't they self-pimp by running more off their site? I remember them from back with Slavelords of Cydonia - they've got the right stuff.)
Personally, I don't see Divide and Conquer as working...
I wont buy anything with the number 4 on it but I will buy print and PDF versions of 3.5 or Pathfinder anywhere near it.
I've done stuff like that...but I usually add some personality quirk or goal that keeps the NPC for taking over.
I have a pathfinder-ish knight whose oath keeps him next to a more defenseless NPC. If he charged into battle the party wouldn't have much to do. As a body guard he is there if he is needed but otherwise justifiably in the background.
The weaker NPC is an archivist. He gets to boost the party without otherwise getting in the spotlight. Combined they make a great 5th wheel without lessening the PCs.
Erik Mona wrote: Unless you own absolutely everything we've published, including all of the Pathfinder Society scenarios (in which case, bless your heart), a LOT of the "reused" art is going to be completely new to you.
I'm one of those you just blessed and I'm not upset in the least! If I can get more Paizo by you spreading the effort, by all means keep it up.
Heads up: Goblinoid Games has some print copies of Labyrinth Lord on their web site for sale!
There is an announcement on the ENWorld forums HERE
ditto...
Oh yeah, I love this book!
And don't forget to highlight that Dungeon-A-Day is running a Summer Con special - you can check it out for free for one week and register at the original intro pricing!
