Turning his attention back to the matters at hand, De'ohge looks to Lyonel, "My work be in the arcane arts. Where be your wizards? Converse with them, I would." Thinking about his stilted speach, I really need more practice with this language, why they call it common... Walking over to the side table to fill his cup, he continues, "Fought a great undead cyclops. 'Twas very powerful, controlled others. See it's like before, I had not. These people," De'ohge waves at his companions, "they be good fighters of undead. I be stuck in that town long time, dodging undead, hunting food, safe place to rest." Pausing for a drink of something fruity and new to his palette, "In just a few days, they come to town. They fight many undead. They not become undead. They are worthy." Refilling his cup, and holding it out, "That one, Shiny, He good leader for man." Pointing to the others with his cup, "they good fighters too, they kill undead."

no worries Haundo, I have no intentions of getting into any pvp, detest it actually. And you and any of the other players would hopefully have recognized the difference between record keeping and hoarding. On this note, I have enjoyed this game, and I have enjoyed playing with ALL of the players here. And, as noted above, I would like to continue playing the game. If any of the other players, or the GM, believes that I am trying to rob the group, hoard the gold, etc. Please speak up now and let's figure out someone else to keep track of group loot, or we forgo group loot altogether and decide to split everything at the time of acquisition.

I was kind enough to provide date references to defend my actions. Please provide the reference where the GM forced De'ohge to follow Saxton's suggestion. I respectfully remind you that the professor declined to study the orb when it was first presented to him. Not sure where you are getting that he became interested in studying it after stating he was not learned in magical items. I prefer not to play a pvp game. Should Saxton attempt to psychically force an action you don't like (but haven't provided a reason why Saxton would not like it), I'd like to see you try. You don't have teleport object, or another similar psionic ability that could do that without saves on my part. You are now leaving this game, I don't see your final post noting the group loot YOU were holding as noted on Nov 13, 2012. For the good of the GROUP, I am posting those items here. Are we to assume that you are choosing not to remember this doesn't belong to Saxton? Bag of Holding II

I most certainly will not be rubbing anyone, nor am I robbing them. August 16, 2012 in front of the group, De'ohge wraps the orb and puts it in his bag. August 31 possessive reference of desire to know more of orb. Sep 3, Saxton tells professor of orb, professor states no knowledge of magical devices Sep 4, pulls orb out of bag to study it. Sep 6, continues to study orb. Saxton and Andrea also study orb. Sep 7, notes that the orb is wrapped and put away. since the orb came from his bag, implied it was returned Sep 13, Saxton suggests the orb be left with the professor. Sep 14, Saxtoon ooc's assumption of orb left with professor. No further reference to the orb until this scene. Since the professor stated he didn't know magic and showed no interest in looking at the orb while you, me, and Andreas looked at it, De'ohge ignored the new guy's suggestion and kept the potentially dangerous object where he could keep a close eye on it. I would suggest you gather some FACTS, before making accusations! The FACT that I am holding the MAGICAL orb, as the resident MAGICIAN does not mean I am claiming ownership of it. I believe I have made it very clear that I may be holding items, or tracking them, but that I am not considering them mine. You appear to have missed the personal thought indicating that De'ohge was relying on Haundo to tell him what to do about the orb. Not sure where your character is coming from to just tell a bunch of strangers, who's motives are unknown, and who have lots of weapons, and have forcibly split the party into two separate groups, that we have a potentially powerful item is... <censored>. I would be rather surprised if the other players thought it would be totally acceptable for their characters to leave all or some of their magical gear behind on a boat that is most assuredly going to be searched, while they were led off, especially since they were told to bring their personal gear with them. Hell, I should have written in that De'ohge would have also packed the books into his haversack if no one else wanted them, he is a book worm after all.

Having learned to travel light, De'ohge had packed his haversack hours before and was ready to go, he had nothing left on the ship of importance. After they are forcibly split up De'ohge starts paying closer attention to their surroundings, checking escape routes, heights of buildings, alleys. He sticks close to Shiny (Haundo). De'ohge listens as the others discuss what they will do next, nodding in agreement with Shiny, "anyone still living in these times is likely to be doing much fighting. Dumb question." He gives Lyolen a quizzical look, "you need rest, I think." He knows the orb tucked away in the bottom of his haversack is likely an artifact. Best to not say anything about the orb to these Absolomites, or until Shiny says to show it. Don't trust them yet... But Shiny should know I wouldn't leave something so dangerous laying about.

"Leave me off, not likely any would know my name. I'll pass as the professor's assistant." De'ohge prefers to keep out of the limelight and is happy to let someone else write the response while he keeps the bird occupied.

De'ohge smiles while standing at the bow of the ship, legs spread to cushion the relaxing sway of the bow bouncing up and down in the swells. "A fine morning it is! Land aft, and the open ocean fore. Soon we shall have steadfast legs once more." Of course you could also give us the answer to the perception check in a spoiler, we can then tailor our response on whether we got it right or not.

meepphhh... yes, yes, up, I am. Feeling the tension from the others, De'ohge inquires of the nature of uninvited guests before gathering up his gear. did we have any mounts onboard? saxton, you have all the group stuff noted on your sheet? De'ohge is happy to assist the others with sailing the ship, having a basic understanding of the theory himself. I think your rate of transport is a bit off, we could swim faster than that. At the stated rate of 6 miles per eight hours, to go 780 miles will take 130 shifts. Assuming our crew was actually able to manage 8 hours on, 8 hours off in rotating shifts for the entire trip, it would take 43 days to travel 780 miles. I don't recall what style ship we had, but if it has sails and oars, I'm thinking something like a viking longship or a small trireme. Ships with oars generally had crews in the hundreds and were not long distance travel ships. A longship had an average speed of 5-10 knots, and could do 15 in favorable conditions, which equates to about 8-15 miles per hour. A Karvi is the smallest longship, it had 6-16 rowing benches, typically. This ship was primarily used for fishing an dsmall trade. A snekkja was typically about 50 feet long and carried a crew of 41 for the oars. Note that the sail was used for long distance travel and open water while the sails were used for rivers, harbors, short bursts of speed, and when the wind was too light for the sail. I was thinking we had something more like a caravel, primarily sail powered, and with a much lower crew requirement. Having a rowing ship small enough for just the 20 of us, would also severely limit cargo space, requiring as much of the journey as possible be coastal for frequent resupply. http://www.thepirateking.com/ships/index.htm Just my $.02

So we have ten kits, I had made these as suggestions: crafting kits for leather-working, carpentry, trap-making, sewing, cooking, bookbinding, jewelry, and fishing. Should we double up on a couple? like carpentry? any other ideas?

Looks like we can put together a list of items that are in "group stores" and available for use by each character. Generally won't be a problem unless two people are wanting to use the same kit at the same time. And we won't really need to consider distributing to individuals until and unless we leave the ship, since it is a rather small and enclosed environment.

I'm back! Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 De'ohge was glad he had so many to provide cover and protection for his own searches. He was happy that the others were appeased by the finds he was able to lead them to. There were several items specifically that he had been on the look out for, especially with a long trip ahead. (Alchemist' lab, crafting kits for leather-working, carpentry, trap-making, sewing, cooking, bookbinding, jewelry, and fishing. As well as various inks, pens, and blank journal/spell books.)

well, seeing as De'ohge has spent quite some time in the city, he should have an idea of which buildings haven't been looted yet, probably because they are infested... He'll lead them to a building or two that are likely to have supplies needed for a voyage, then he'll slip in a place more likely to have an extensive library or magical items.

I have always looked at it like a small room that gets bigger, the more you put into it. 30 cubic feet is a hole 2' X 3' X 5', or 2' X 2' X 7.5'. Your fridge has an internal capacity of around 20' cubic feet. We would probably have a hard time fitting 1000 MRE's into that space. A case of 12 MRE's measures (google) 17" X 9" x 10", or .87 cubic foot, so 83 cases (and 4 extra's) would be 72 cubic feet, or a pile of boxes 4 X 4 X 5, and measuring 3' deep, 5' wide, and 3' high, roughly. I think I have to agree with Haundo on this one. Don't put anything in the bag of holding (except maybe the books), stack everything near the front door. Until we get a protable hole!

If you are scouting, take the goggles too, no one else has laid claim on them. De'ohge has what he wants of the gear and nods as Saxton shovels the rest into the holding bag. Returning to the main room, he looks about. How many floors is the building? How many other doors/hallways/exits?

No problem here, but it would be nice if you added a spoiler to your char sheet for group loot you are holding. Were there only the two rooms to the military headquarters? A front office, a conference room, and a hidden broom closet? No captain's office, mess room, file room, privey?

"Those scrolls will be of use to me, unless another has need?" De'ohge points out the two scrolls sitting to one side. "I think my propensity for heights may make use of the rope as well." When Saxton starts putting the books away, De'ohge holds out a hand and points at the three sailing books, "I have some experience with sailing I would like to review one of those against what I know already." De'ohge nods to Klor, "True my wide friend, but this is but one room, and from the looks of it, not a customary weapons cache."

I pray in the Shadows that yon beast may not detect my sight and retaliate." I entered that room alone, neither you nor the dorf came in, for a moment I thought I had been betrayed, but then I was too busy fighting for my life." Fortunately, as an enlightened wizard with the agility to acumen to readily seize a means of expeditious withdrawal I was able to escape with nothing more than a few bruises!" Turning to Saxton, and poking him in the thigh with one finger "and don't give me that locked door, excuse either! Had you not wavered with the dorf and dog, my ego wouldn't be bruised!" Standing up at his full three feet, and one inch, De'ohge taps one foot on the floor with his hands on his hips. "Well?! What have ye to say for yerself?"

De'ohge quirks an eyebrow at Saxton hmm, he can obviously sense magical aura's, but lacks the ability to know what he sees, interesting... De'ohge casts detect magic (which he will be doing pretty much constantly throughout the building). Spellcraft 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15 "Can ye pinpoint the origin of the spell effect?" If magic/psionics is transparent then spellcraft works equally well to identify both flavors of magic. If they are not transparent, then psicraft becomes a relevant skill.

De'ohge smiles at the praise, it has been a long time since I felt this way, it is nice to have others around, so long as I don't trust them with my own safety I won't... well enough wool gathering, "Thank's Shiny, I can only use them for a few minutes per day, so I would prefer to be sparing with their use." |
