It is with great pride in our gaming community that I relate the successful launch of the Illinois outpost of the Quad Cities Pathfinder Society lodge! We had 2 full tables fire on our first night! Thanks to the staff and management at our venue, QC Family Entertainment Center! Thanks to all the gamers who joined us, and a special thanks to Troy Schnack (PFS VO) for his help and support getting this thing going. The room was awesome and the staff was a blessing! I am looking forward to Oct. 19 for our next session!!

While it states in the class description that Oracles do not require a divine focus to cast spells, when it comes to channeling energy there is a unclear area. The description states, "You can channel positive energy like a cleric", and the description for channel in the cleric description has "A cleric must be able to present her holy symbol to use this ability."

So, does an oracle of life need a divine focus to channel energy or are they able to channel without a divine focus?

I am trying to wrap my head around an idea a friend had while theory crafting and was trying to find a way in a PFS legal way to tell him "NO!!"

When a shadowdancer progresses with their BAB to the point where they would get +6/+1, does that mean that their shadow companion ALSO gains a second attack to do STR drain? Does Haste or Blessing of Fervor stack with that?!

To throw another curve into this labyrinthine-esque conversation, I feel we would be remiss if we don't acknowledge the bard/sound striker ability- Weird Words. They all require a ranged touch attack, they all do weapon-like damage (B/P/S). Would the bonus damage being applied from feats be added to the total before the Fort Save or after?

The player was spending drunken Ki on every attack or move that they could. Then they would drink to replenish their Ki. Then they would pop drunken Ki points to heal, then drink back to maximum pool. We were unaware that the Gamemastery Guide WAS legal as a GM tool in PFS. Thank you, Eric Clingenpeel, for pointing that out. It isn't that we want to stop him from using what he obviously has put a lot of thought and design into and everything is to PFS standards for rules. I take blame that I wasn't aware of such governing rules, but will have a chat with the player quietly and explain what is going on and what the circumstances are.

Thanks guys!

Our local lodge has a player that is playing a Drunken Master archetype for the monk class in PFS. He has acquired all supporting magical items to make infinite amounts of sake available to him. He is drinking-- in character-- GALLONS of sake during a scenario. In a recent session, he spent over 50 ki points LEGALLY in just one scenario- one dungeon. Since the Gamemaster Guide isn't listed as legal in the Additional Resources, is there are any other rules that are PFS cannon to impede this free flow of alcohol/drunken Ki?

There is some open-end verbage in the rules for alcohol consumption-

"Drunkenness
Just like drugs, alcohol can be abused and have significant negative effects. In general, a character can consume a number of alcoholic beverages equal to 1 plus double his Constitution modifier. Drinks consumed in excess of this total cause the character to become sickened for 1 hour per drink above this maximum. Particularly exotic or strong forms of alcohol might be treated as normal drugs. Those who regularly abuse alcohol might eventually develop a moderate addiction."

Question 1- is the 1+ (Con Mod *2) per hour or per day?

Question 2- is sake considered a "strong or exotic" form of alcohol?

Question 3- at what point does a Drunken Master start to cross the line into addiction rules (alcoholism)?

I think it would depend on what the paladin was beseeching her help with. If it were a question about healing, it my begin something like, O Sarenrae, bringer of The Healing Light, your humble servant asks your wisdom..."

If it were regarding dealing with undead, it may go "Highest Sarenrae, The Everlight, your crusader is in need of your assistance in a matter regarding the scourge of the dead yet not dead..."

I would think about what I was going to ask Sarenrae's advice for, then use a title for her that was appropriate for the topic, then describe yourself in the role you will be taking. Normally pallys- in my experience- have referred to themselves as champions, servants, crusaders, bulwarks.

Hope this helps!

If I had a player show up drunk or under the influence of a product of modern chemistry, I would invoke the "retain the right to refuse" rule and call them a cab so they could go back home without breaking any additional laws.

If I had a player show up bleary-eyed and off their game, I would deal with them as best as I could. It could be that they were hung-over, sick, migraine, or generally feeling like poo but didn't want to miss the game.

If I had a player that was being "stupid": as in disruptive, argumentative, going out of their way to do things in or out of game to make other players uncomfortable or upset- they would be warned against it and if it continued, they would be asked to leave.

If the "stupid" behavior became chronic, then discussion of unsheathing the "ban hammer" would take place.

Currently, I haven't found any Bard Spells that have a cold descriptor that are PFS legal. The only 3rd level arcane spells that I have found are "Ice Spears" and "Vengeful Comets" from the Inner Sea Magic and "Sleet Storm" from the Core book. All 3 are PFS legal. Unfortunately, I don't know of any feat that would add spells to your bard spell list that would make these available to your bard. Sorry.

I normally use a website of deity names from different cultures pantheons. I look at what the god or goddess was known for (Apollo = Messenger of the gods, etc) and what sounds cool. If its relatively short, I use it as a first name. If its longer, I use it as a last name. Once I have one name down, I use a random name generator until something comes up that is easy for me to say, sounds cool, is easy to spell, and is easy to repeat when the GM says, "What was your character's name again?".

I know when some players try to do Samurai or Ninja or some other "Oriental" style class that they go for some name that is almost impossible for them to say, and the rest of us just refer to them as the part we can most easily say, which, while comical in some instances, breaks the mood in some others.

This is the website I use for deity names. http://www.lowchensaustralia.com/names/gods.htm

Hope this helps!
