Kaelar senses the presence of friends, and decides to let them relax before he tells them about Candle Lighter. Even if CL were to come before he told them, he'd know, and be able to prepare everyone. Besides they may already know. He continues his work.
Oroth is startled by the raven's gift. He lets the shadow shield down, his form flickering, and helps the boy to his feet. Happiness seems to flow through the Oasis, as he and the kid hug tightly.
"I'm glad your alright lil'... guy. What's your name anyway?"
*Smiling weakly, the kid seems confused.*
"My name's Aidan, but you know that br-"
*He's cut off by Oroth*
"Why don't we get you something to eat, huh?"
*The two walk off(though Aidan needs help), to find something to eat.*
"You must be the...you must be Oroth. Here, this may interest you greatly."
He holds up a glowing orb.
"This is the boy's soul."
He looks at it for an instant, then smashes it against the ground. For a moment there is nothing, then a pale wisp flies into the boy. The boy opens his eyes.
The raven chuckles and disappears.
Oroth is startled by the raven's gift. He lets the shadow shield down, his form flickering, and helps the boy to his feet. Happiness seems to flow through the Oasis, as he and the kid hug tightly.
*Oroth has managed to to create a shield of shadows around the boy. Easily seen through, the sand under the kid has turned into glass. Oroth can be seen whispering something, but stops when he senses anyone is close enough to here.*
It's only a matter of time before the foul water elemental gets through her guard and she is having an increasingly difficult time concentrating on making enough shields of wind to deflect the bullets and protect from the lava.
*A roar echoes through the Palace, and it begins to... rain?
Lightning strikes a water elemental about to slam LJ's shields, obliterating it, and Leviathan curls protectively around LJ, lightning streaming from the horn on his head. The rain causes the lava to hiss and cool.*
*The bard moves to engage one of the unpure elementals in battle, moving so fast he blurs. As his staff strikes it, pure ice flows from it's crystal point. He does not notice the zombie about to smash his head... until an arrow peirces it's skull. Ice enshrouds the zombie as it pitches foward shattering on the floor. Beams of blue light and lightning flash, geysers of water ripping the undead apart. Rio has arrived, and he is furious. Arrows fly toward the raven.*
Happy birthday!
And to Charles: I'm guessing Spring Break?
*Oroth chooses to stay and protect the child. Letting his illusion when none but the goblins and Sky remain. He trusts the shapeshifter for some reason. Sky returns to his tree.*
*As he rises from his spot on the hill, Rio's eyes suddenly flash. A whorl appears in front of him, showing a battle between Alaina and The Mask. Calling Aurora out of her ball, he readies her and himself for battle.*
"Great Erl, if I do not return, tell my father I love him."
*He hops on Aurora and they fly away.*
*The eagle flies from his perch. But, when he soars over the boy, he lurches upward and fall to the ground, smoke trailing from his feathers. Steam rises from the cloth when it's laid on the boy, then it bursts into flame. When the fire's gone the boy isn't burned.*
*Kaelar looks up suddenly, his eyes glowing*
"It seems I'm needed elsewhere. Till we meet again."
*Water swirls around him, and when is settels, he is gone.*
*A breeze travels through the area, whispering a message to Angel and Delvyn.*
"The one known as Innocent Blood appeared, and ripped the blood from the very bodies of the cludgoers. She is a vampire who walks in the daylight, and has used the stolen blood to power some vile device. She must be stopped, but we can't interfere. It is up to you and your friends..."
*Seeing that the creature's main body assaulted, Kaelar, DbJ, Kiba, and Sky wish to finish it off before any suffer more injuries. As they shout for everyone to get out of the way, they begin one of their combo-assaults
Kiba: Slams his hammer into the ground, cause a spire of rock to erupt from the earth sending the lady-hydra into the air
Sky: A massive bolt of lightning lances into the creature
DbJ: A blast of white-hot flame sears the Zhedal's flesh
The Bard: Ice slams in on it from all sides, encasing it in a frosty-prison until in shatters when it hit the ground.*
*Each of the four are obviously tired.
Kiba leans on his hammer.
Sky leans against a tree.
The Bard is breathing heavily.
DbJ just let's himself slump to the ground.*
*Sky flies past his opponent again, this time slashin out one of it's eye. The Bard slams a massive block of ice into the chest of his foe, turning the ice in it's lungs to shrapnel. Breathing will not only be painful, it will be deadly. DbJ limps over to help the monk, blasting the creature with flame.*
"He was attacked by some shadow creatures created by a being called the Mask," Poetry says. "The rest of us tried to save him, but he used his power and shunted us aside, into a dimensional rift. It was almost as if he wanted to be killed."
*As Poetry's words sink in, the light fades from Rio's eyes, and his voice returns to normal.*
"I'm sorry, I almost lost control for a moment. Thank you for telling me, I need time to think."
*His voice reveals much sadness. Rio turns and runs for the treehouse, in his haste not noticing the box that falls from his pack. Light flares from the windows as they board themsleves over. Rio has chosen to be alone for now.*
*Diving toward it, Kiba and Sky attack. Sky darts past the gaping mouths, slashing at the Zhedal, leaving wounds that won't stop bleeding. Kiba flies straight at the main body, slamming his hammer in it's face, crushing one side.
DbJ battles with the 6th with flame and claw, getting a quick bite in when he can. He finnaly kills it, though he takes many wounds from the fight.
Kaelar launches his own attacks against the 4th, sending boiling water into it's lungs then watching as it wriths in pain from the zubzero cold attacking it's water-seared lungs.*
"Thanks for the info. I'll distract it while you- um, looks like a dragon and a human beat us to it."
*Kaelar and DbJ have started to attack the Zhedal, blasting it with flame and pounding it with ice.*
Gotta go for now. I'll be on later. Sorry for having to bail like this, but my sis' is wanting on the computer.
*Kiba sighs*
"I guess this means I have to get some help and try to take this thing out."
*A small magical whorl shimmers into view above his hand*
"DbJ? Kaelar? Theres a monk here who says theres something headed this way. Wanna help me out? Uh-huh. Yeah. Okay meet you outside."
*The three of them meet outside the Club. Kiba's already shifted to his hybrid form, DbJ's turns back into a dragon, and Kaelar walks out of the forge with a brand-new staff and decked out in ice.*
As I have no idea what's about to happen, those who wish to help can 'overhear' the conversation.
*Slamming his fist down on the table, Kaelar utters a few terse words in Aquan.*
"Where is he? Why can't my scrying pierce his veils? They always could before. The only time I've never been able to sry him was when he... Oh damn."
*Kaelar jumps up and heads for the treehouse.*
Spoiler:
"JUNIOR! I know your up there! You should have told me what he was going to do! Get down here NOW!"
*A head peeks out the window.*
"If not coming down even if you calm down! And you really need to!"
*Kaelar stares at DbJ angrily, then slowly then calms down*
"Fine. Stay up there. Can you at least tell me what he went there for?"
"Nope, he only said he'd be back soon."
"AH! That boy can be so.. so.. AH!"
*The Bard storms back to the forge.*
*The Bard finally walks out of the forge, covered in soot. He walks to the bar and orders a stiff drink and a small roast chicken. He looks very tired, almost drained.*
I'm done for now. I'll get on later so you can talk to The Bard as needed.
Those nearby can hear Rio and DbJ talking in hushed tones from within the treehouse. I warn you now, there are traps. None shall pass the wards without detection.
Kobold Cleaver walks in, looking nervous. He quickly strides over to his book, sits down, picks up the book, and continues reading like nothing happened. However, the title of his book is now 'Spirits, Phantoms, and Those Not of This World'. One sitting next to him is called 'Creatures of the Ethereal'.
*Drying off and changing into dry clothes, Rio decides to go into the Club for a little bit. He notices KC reading yet again. Curious, he sneaks up on KC and reaches for the 'Creatures of the Ethereal'*
DbJ and Rio built their own treehouse yesterday, so DbJ could sleep nearby without being outed as a dragon. They were up most of the night trading jokes and telling ghost stories. Rio finally had to move his hammock into the treehouse because there wasn't any room on the floor(DbJ is a big dragon despite his age). They wake up around 9am, still a little groggy. Rio starts the day off just like always, with a swim.
The Bard went to bed earlier than most. By dawn you can here him working in the forge.
*Saddened that his ploy didn't work, DbJ left to sleep outside. When he wakes up from his perch high in the trees, he notices Rio, and decides to talke to him. As he lands his form shimmers back to human.
He's only a few feet from Rio when the boy speaks. DbJ's eyes widen at the boy's words.*
Spoiler:
Rio:"Hey Junior, waccha doing here at the club?"
DbJ:"Just came over for some dancing. How did you see through my illusion?"
Rio:"I looked around when I heard snoring this morning. Not hard to spot the red dragon in the tree."
*The two begin to talk about all that has happened in the past few months.*
