Great Started Adventure and perfect for PFS

5/5

This is a great set of three adventures. My only gripe would be the wilderness adventure is a little bit linear, but even then has a couple of nice RP pieces in it.

This seems to fill the same niche as the Tower Level of Emerald Spire a nice way to introduce people to the game, and gives some nice early benefits.

Smash Robots, get Loot

5/5

This is the first 7-11 scenario this season in the high technology theme for the season. It is also as far as I know the first scenario written by Anthony Li which was a treat for me since he is a fellow member of my local Pathfinder Lodge.

I played this in the higher tier and found it quite enjoyable. It gives an in game way to know what the odd high technology items you are running into are in character which is appreciated. That said I know that simply being a high technology scenario is going to be a turn off for some, and possibly an automatic skip. Which is a real shame both for this scenario and the rest of the Numeria flavored scenarios.

Like all good Pathfinder Society scenarios it requires a good spread of diplomacy and brute force to get through. With the fights being both sensible to the plot and appropriately challenging.

As you would normally find in this sort of situation the diplomatic portion happens in the front half of the scenario with the dungeon delving, and monster smashing happening at the end. I was somewhat disappointed you could not actually talk the final boss down, but it is not completely unrealistic.

The only blot on the scenario and not a real complaint is I am still waiting for a scenario with an annihilator to show up, though I am guessing that will be this seasons hard mode scenario.

Good boon, Good Callback, Interesting Combats

4/5

This is definitely an enjoyable scenario. It both has fun callbacks to earlier scenarios and mechanically interesting combats. I also liked the fact that the people you help give you aid that is useful, and avoids the “It was carrying the thing best to kill it” issue some scenarios have. I do think it was helpful to have both a Freedom’s Edge faction member and pair of Silver Crusaders. It as mentioned rewards a bit of thought, and provides a challenge. Also the boons were quite good.

Scenario Spoiler:
I disagree it is completely out of character to throw down a tyrant, I know that you basically throw out a villainous ruler in Rats of Round Mountain, and decide a villages power balance in Red Harvest. I think for most scenarios going after the local evil ruler is simply outside of the scope of the scenario, I mean we are not going to throw down house Thrune in a four hour slot. That said it felt weird to have a revolt starting up, but it also felt like the Oread’s *wanted* to revolt and the Adventurers just became the pebble that started the avalanche. So in Scenario it just that, essentially anything to give the Oreads a Casus Belli to a revolt and a bit more power to decapitate the leadership would work.
That said given the leader was a Tyrant I think they could have done with giving the Drakes a morale condition if she gets taken down first would have been appropriate.

Excellent Scenario though time intensive

5/5

Posting a review after seeing the review of reviews, and not seeing this one breaking the top ten.

In any case I really did enjoy this one, I got the feeling that my character was someone who mattered in the setting. Also the different characters were fun to run into. It helped that the GM had obviously spent a lot of time in preperation. Up to and including speeches by the guests of honor.

The combat was a bit on the easy side for one encounter, but this was partly due to having just the right spell at just the right time and winning initiative. I was actually sort of grateful for the speed of that resolution, since otherwise we would have run even longer than we did.
