Gotcha...I'll try to do this later this afternoon...

Blue Nose, since it's Barbarians that we are playing, your starting careers could look something like: scribe 2/thief 1/fighter 1/priest 0

Well, we haven't gotten much response to this point, but I'm curious to play the game online. The Yahoo! groups have been pretty quicky amassing a small army of followers. I'm thinking of doing something smaller in scope, maybe a PbP that would last two weeks or so, if everyone posted something at least very day. Thoughts?

Excellent! For the person willing to hunt for it, there are 1st edition Barbarians rules for free. I suggest investing in a small gaming company (with whom I'm not affiliated), and getting the core rules, monsters, magic, etc. Let's try for something by the end of the week, at least to see if others might rally, too.

I've noticed that this inexpensive ($10.00) core rule book has sat perched high atop RPGNow.com's best selling indie games for months. I purchased my .pdf copy there early this year, and have LOVED the game. The character generation system is intuitive and focuses strongly on players' abilities to interact with their "Sword & Sorcery" world. Has anyone else tried the game, or be willing to comment? I would like to try a play-by-post if others are interested...I feel THAT comfortable adjudicating the rules after only a few months!

Thanks in advance!

I like the hillarity ensuing from Og: The Unearthed Edition. There really are no advancement rules...just trying to live day to day in a prehistoric world with a vocabulary of half-a-dozen words is brutal, and fun! You have about a d6 worth of hit points, maybe hunting a wooly mammoth? Most lethal? Perhaps by realizing that the caveman ain't here no mo'.

I have really liked Wicked Fantasy Factory modules, especially the inexpensive Temple of Blood. In addition to the Hollywood glamor and signature finishing moves, there is an-almost too easy way to incorporate Gamemastery Item cards to the bill.

Here's been a secret of my gaming (DM) success...
Give each player their own simple colored (read: distinguishable) folder. In the folder put:
Your even hand-written phone, email, etc. contact info for everyone in the group
A character sheet in color
Blank paper
Graph paper
Lined paper
a few 3x5 cards for messages/thoughts
a 9 slot plastic card sheet
one "free" item of power, from a Gamemastery Item Card Deck, with the hint of more to come...

Regardless of the adventure, players have 100% loved it everytime!!!

Just how "bad" are the evil fey? My best friend has really taken to fey throughout our gaming history, and has recently squeeled like a giddy schoolgirl after piecing together a faerie deck with Magic:The Gathering. His birthday is coming...
Will he be delighted to see these new fey, or upset that his obscure love affair with imps, sprites, fey, etc. has been claim-jumped?

Looking to get an inexpensive and pre-painted (time and skill is an issue) for a player's character in my group. She plays a female elven ranger. The D&D miniature Steelheart Archer looks very much like what she has designed. Question- is the mini a female, or male? I cannot make out detail online. Any help?

Question:
At least with D0: Falcon's Hollow, some items were also items from GameMastery's own DeckMaster line of cards (look at the Ring from the game, and then look at the Ring from the 1st deck collection.). Assuming this trend continues, are any of the swords also item cards? Man, I sure hope so- that would be AWESOME!

Anyone have success with the initial adventure, Idylls of the Rat King?

But wait- Ranger's CAN specialize, from Unearthed Arcana. Specializing in the bow uses all 3 of their weapon proficiencies, though :( With Paladin being moved from the fighter sub-class to the Cavalier subclass (blech), this would leave only the Ranger and Barbarian under the Fighter's umbrella.

So, as I understand it, we'd (BTB) take the best of both worlds, and only a fighter or ranger could specialize (but not a fighter/cleric, for example).

I think I'd allow a fighter/?? to specialize as a houserule, unless I'm missing something.

I'm having a lot of fun with 1st Edition, because I'm squashing the munhkin inklings my group has so often, and avoiding being bogged down in character generation rules. This is especially why I want to limit what pours out of UnEarthed Arcana (I'm the only one in the group allowed to use the reference, although other are familiar with its general contents). Thanks, everyone!

Quick question:
Playing a nostalgic AD&D 1st Edition game, but I'm still new as a GM. Adding selected pieces from Unearther Arcana, specifically, weapon specialization, begs this question:
1. How many weapon proficiency slots does a half-orc cleric/assassin have (cleric=2; assassin=3)? Do I add them both together (5), or take the best of both (like saving throws). Were this a multiclass fighter/something, could he take multiple weapon specializations at 1st level?

Thanks in advance!
