Hey guys, now i'm interested in some of the 5e rules, thats why i need your help!

5e have a lot of damage types, the most commons are bludgeoning, slashing and piercing. But they also have those:

Acid, Lightning, Necrotic, Radiant, Fire, Force, Cold, Psychic, Thunder and Poison.

My question is, which kind of powers/abilities/class features/spells/features/magic items/and general rules do we have that gives protection/bonus/penalties/advantages/disadvantages/resistances/immunities/ or have some relation with those types of damage? Assume just the 3 core rulebooks.

It's a big question, i know, i just wanted that we put our heads together to work it out.

And thanks!

Firstly, Hail all! Long time no see!

Chapter 16 in Core rulebook says:

"Attacks: Some spell descriptions refer to attacking. All offensive combat actions, even those that don’t damage opponents, are considered attacks. Attempts to channel energy count as attacks if it would harm any creatures in the area. All spells that opponents resist with saving throws, that deal damage, or that otherwise harm or hamper subjects are attacks. Spells that summon monsters or other allies are not attacks because the spells themselves don’t harm anyone."

That explained, my question is:

If a invisible good cleric doesn't know that an undead creature is in the area, would he turn visible? If so, would he know that an undead creature is in the area?

And, the last two big questions: Does it make sense? How to explain it?

Some creatures that can be summoned, like Ice Devil, Erynies, etc, has magical or masterwork equipment. Can a character summon one of those (via summon monster spell), ask him his equipments, dismiss him and then sell the equipment?

Many threads in this forums are about how martials lack in versatility compared to casters. But Criticals Feats are meant to give this kind of versatility to martials (aside from maneuvers). Are critical feats worthwhile? Have you created a good build around them? I feel the they are too feat taxing, too late game and very limited armament-wise (a no no to non rapier-like weapons). What do you think?

I was reading some game experiences on these messageboards and i wondered: "How much time this guy expended to reach his character to 14th level?"

Explaining further; mine campaigns take time - a lot. My highest level characters are 14th (i'm the GM). It took 4, 5 years to reach that level, the campaign has sttoped because life demanded it's time, but we have intention to come back and end it. I have campaings who suffered various conversions (AD&D to D&D 3, D&D 3 to D&D 3.5, D&D 3.5 to Pathfinder - Pathfinder to House Rullings) still goes on but we are still on 10th level (going to 11th).

My GMing style is pretty slow. I'm alone in this pace? How is the pace of your campaing? How much real time you took for end one? Which is your longest? It ended or is ongoing? Take your time and let's talk!

I need that Order 3256936 to be canceled, thanks!

How many ways, be they feats, special abilities, spells or whatever, is there to make a creature become flat-footed?

How many ways, be they feats, special abilities, spells or whatever, is there to make a creature become staggered?

Thanks!

Catch Off-Guard (Mythic)
In your hands, anything is a deadly weapon.
Prerequisites: Catch Off-Guard.
Benefit: The damage dealt when you use improvised weapons increases by your tier. You also gain a bonus to CMD equal to your tier when an opponent attempts to sunder or disarm an improvised weapon you're wielding.

Regarding the italic part of the feat, the damage increases by my tier? Increases how much? +1 per tier? +500 per tier? increase one size category per tier? +0,0001 per tier (rounded down)???

When we speak about alignment conflict, almost always is about LG dilemmas, or paladins dilemmas.

Then i read about the helm of opposite alignment thread and some posters saying that a chaotic good character wouldn't do this, but a LG would do, and i thought: "finally, one example of CG dilemma!"

That raised me a question, Chaotic Good characters suffer any kind of dilemma to do good? If not, why? Their good perspective is "lesser" than the LG one or it's better? If the lawful way is better to do good, they try to oppose it and go find a chaotic way to do good, even if harder or "less" good, or they will back down and allow the Lawful Gooders save the day?

And how about the Chaotic Evil characters? Lawful Evil characters have some restrictions of his evil behavior, do CE characters have anything they wouldn't do to reach evil? Harder question than that, would a CE character have a place in society? They could be a respected productive member of one society still doing chaotic evil things? How?

Sometimes, when i'm GMing, the dice came mercilessly against one character, and he dies. Death is not a problem on higher levels, but it is on lower ones. This is particularly painfull, when you saw that the player spent a great deal of time creating all aspects of his/hers character, and suddenly it dies because of dumb bad luck. I dealed with this by asking if the player wanted that his/her character live, but with a serious condition, or he dies and he makes another one. When they choose to stay with the character, i state that the blow didn't kill it, but take him out of combat and seriously wounded, with some permanent conditions (like permanent negative level, or ability score drain (likely constitution, but sometimes wisdom to, for the trauma) and even limb loss.

You already had any experience like this, how do you deal with it? Do you have any "Death alternative" in those cases?

Seriously, what a Alchemist Ghost can do?

Bombs and extracts are physical, so, what this poor ghost hopes to do to defend itself?

Hello folks, what you think about this feat?

Harrying Arrows [Combat]
Your multiple shots are worrysome to your opponent.
Prerequisits: Point-Blank shot, Precise shot, Rapid Shot, BaB +6, Dex 17+
Benefit: After you strike an opponente with 2 successufull ranged attacks that caused damage, you gain +2 flanking bonus on your next ranged attacks against this opponent this turn. In adition, If an ally is adjacent and on your opposing side to the targeted opponent, you and your ally are considered flanking the target opponent, gaining all the benefits of the flanking maneuver for the remainder of your turn.

Normal: You cannot flank with ranged attacks.

The writing should not be perfect, since english is not my main language, but, RAI, what you think?

And help me write it RAW, if need be!

One of my players from my games don`t engage in games, she makes excellent characters, with rich stories and personalities, but in game, play only half a session, preferring to check on the internet, or watch TV. Even when she plays, she is very aloof and out of character, and do other things like draw or sculptures. I tried to talk about the issue with her, she says my gaming style have no problem, she likes her character to the point to be pissed of, when some other character outdo hers when she is engaged (which is rarely).

I have tried to make adventures - heck, even hole campaigns - based on her characters stories to no avail.

But she responds very well when i gm solo to her, but with a bigger group with more than me and her, she shy away.

It`s not shyiness, because one of the other players is her boyfriend, i`m lost and considering to take her out from the gamimg group, but this would be a shame, because she is my sister, we live together and play RPG together since we were children.

What to do?

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

Somewhere in the Core Rulebook says that you can use multiple slotted magic items, like two rings in the same hand, but only one will be active - the strongest, if i recall correctly (if someone can bring the quote, i'll appreciate).

Based on this line i have some questions:

1) If i have a Beneficial Bandolier full with bullets or a Blinkback Belt loaded with daggers, when i remove them all its contents fall of? In the items descriptions it says nothing about it, but its a slotted item, and slotted items should stop functioning when removed.

2) I'm wearing my Beneficial Bandolier/Blinkback Belt and i decide to wear a Belt of Physical Perfection +6, the rules says that only the strongest remain functioning. So, do all my stored stuff fall of?

3) If my things do not fall of, that means i can use multiple Beneficial Bandoliers/Blinkback Belts or a combination of both and another belt, isn't that right?

4) If i remove a slotted item it stops functioning how the Bladed Belt functions at all?

5) Can i have multiple Bladed Belts and another belt and all function normally?

There are another slotted items that function in a similar fashion than the above mentioned. My point of view is that the items do not fall of from the belts, that would be silly. But the game has pretty silly things once in a while so i'll not be surprised if that would be the case. The Bladed Belt, in other case, IMO, is dangerously close to the slotless items, if it's supposed to function at all. Sorry for any English mishaps. (Please do correct me on these too!)

I have a question regarding Mirror Image and Displacement/Blur

If i cast Blur or Displacement, then Mirror Image, do all my images became blurred/displaced?

If yes, when someone strike one of my images, he has 20%/50% to miss it (thus making it not disappear).

If not, will the fact that myself is the only image blurred/displaced automatically nullify Mirror Image? (Strike the Blurred one!)

I`ve found me laughing by myself because my Ranger/Bard`s animal Companion name.

Recently, te party disguised themselves as orcs, Gimble Jimble was disguised as an fiendish Badger called Gombo Jumbo Mombo Dumbo

So, do you have some familiar/animal companion with remarkable name?

Can i discharge an touch spell with an unarmed strike?

Can a creature with drain ability drain with a touch attack, rather than with slam?

Hi to everyone, since the end of 3.5, i were developing my own "3.75" like many people did. When Pathfinder came out, i adapted my own version to be PF compatible.

Below i have converted mine rogue to PF (mine system has some tweaks that differ from PF, if someonec is intereseted, i would love to explain).

Mine PF Converted Rogue it`s pretty much the same as the CRB Rogue, except as follow (My own system rogue it`s different in some other ways, but this only matters to me and to those who might be interested).

Class Features

Trap Finder(Ext): A rogue adds 1/2 her level to Perception skill checks made to locate traps and to Disable Device skill checks (minimum +1). A rogue can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps. If the Rogue succeed on the Disable Device check by 10 or more, she can study the trap and bypass it without activate it. Furthermore, by increasing the Perception Check DC by 5, the rogue can search for traps that are 10ft from him, he must have line of sight and line of effect to the traps in the searched area.

At 5th level, no longer needs to increase the Perception Check DC to find traps 10ft away from him. Furthermore, by increasing the Perception Check DC by 10, the rogue can search for traps that are 20ft away from him, he must have line of sight and line of effect to the traps in the searched area.

At 10th no longer needs to increase the Perception Check DC to find traps 20ft away from him. Furthermore, by increasing the Perception Check DC by 10, the rogue can search for traps that are 30ft away from him, he must have line of sight and line of effect to the traps in the searched area.

At 15th level, the rogue no longer needs to increase the Perception Check DC to find traps 20ft away from him. Furthermore, by increasing the Perception Check DC by 10, the rogue can search for traps that are 40ft away from him, he must have line of sight and line of effect to the traps in the searched area.

At 20th level, the rogue no longer needs to increase the Perception Check DC to find traps 40ft away from him. Furthermore, by increasing the Perception Check DC by 10, the rogue can search for traps that are 50ft away from him, he must have line of sight and line of effect to the traps in the searched area.

Add at 5th, 10th and 15th the below mentioned abilities

Backstab (Ext): The Rogue is skilled at hitting enemies that give their backs, at 5th level, whenever the rogue succeeds in a sneak attack against an flat footed opponent, if the attack was an critical threat, the threat is automaticaly converted in a critical hit.

Improved Backstab (Ext): At 10th, the rogue refined her art to strike their enemies when they can't perceive the threat, whenever she succeeds at a sneak attack against an opponent flanked by her and that didn't attacked or caused harm against the rogue on this turn, if the attack is a critical threat, the threat is automaticaly converted in a critical hit. This ability stacks with backstab.

Greater Backstab (Ext): A rogue at 15th level became an expert at striking were hurts, once per encounter, if the rogue succeeds at an sneak attack, she can convert the hit into a critical hit.

Thoughts?

Hello to you all,

Half-Giant`s Powerfull Build allows him to use one size larger weapon, does his unarmed strike considered one size larger or not?

If no, a Half-Giant can use a gauntlet one size larger?

This question really bugged me for a while, and prevented me to make some good awekened creatures villains, Wahts the CR adjustment for a awakaned creature? What`s for an awakened tree?

I have a question about attack action.

Cast an offensive spell is an attack action? For Example, a sorceres can punch someone while casting vampiric touch? If so, can he use Vital Strike?

About energy drain:

A Cainr Wight with multiple attacks, say, because of levels in fighter or haste, he drains a level per attack with his longsword?

Another one, If i have an +1 Bracers of Armor with light fortification, and wear a Full Plate +2, i'll keep the light fortification benefit from the bracers?

Thanks!

Hello to you all,

I have few questions about Cure Spells, Regenerate and Ressurrection.

These spells have the power to close wounds, grow members back and even grow new bodies back, but what about self implied wounds - like ritual castration, scarification and tattoos - that are willingly sustained whatever the motive, they are reverted? And the loss of virginity in the case of female characters? or even self mutilation in favor of feat/prestige class requirements or magic item usage? Whow do you deal with this on your table?

Edit - Sory about that, this is not a rules question, it should be in general discussion, my second post here, sorry for the mistake.
