Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Real Life over the last month has been a bit busy for me. Both professionally, less slacking off at work, and personally, I'm house hunting and working on selling two homes. All of which has contributed to a lack of time to contribute quality postings.

Unfortunately there is no easy exit for Dargon out on the sea, but he'll probably stick with Lavinia until she releases him from her service, at which point he'd gather some rarities for trade back at his shop in Eleder.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Without saying a word Dargon pulls a crate up to Sekathral's bedside and rolls some dice upon it.

Profession (Gambling) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

"Looks like 'ur luck is coming back already." Dargon says as he starts their game with a particularly bad combination.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

"Ya thinking someone might come finish the job, huh?" Dargon asks.

"Aye, I'll stand guard, but when he's up to it, he's repaying the favor with a good game of dice. Dargon says for Sekathral to over hear, in hopes of bringing up the elf's spirits.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Dargon continues assisting Kyson with whatever the priest requires of him.

Heal 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

"Tis' your own fault for not keeping any meat on 'ur bones." Dargon mumers to Sekathral in jestful tone.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Dargon remains at Sekathral's side, helping Kyson take care of the elf. In this Dargon's true dwarven heritage, where the dwarves put their sick and dead on pedestals of honor, shows as he does the most menial task without complaint.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

"Right." Dargon says unsure if he knows enough to even grab the correct one.

------------

"Is this it?" Dargon asks as he props up what he believes Kyson was asking for.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Dargon comes running up deck, leaning over the side to 'relieve' some sea sickness.

"Da open sea doesn't agree with this dwarven stomach." Dargon answers as half his mates look at him as if asking if he is suffering from the same poison as Sekathral.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

good to go

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Like a moth to a flame.

Dargon, no missing a beat joins Sekathral for the good stuff.

"Oh yeah elf, that hits the spot." Dargon says after a long chug. "Where'd you get this stuff?

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Finding nothing worth carrying back, Dargon spends the rest of the day just walking about, enjoying earth under his legs, before turning in to spend the night in a dock tavern.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Dargon looks for any common local goods that would seem unusual or unique anywhere else.

Profession (Merchant) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Kyson's jaw drops as he learns more from Dargon than he has in months of traveling with the dwarf.

"You've been to the land of the Linnorm Kings?! Have you seen a Linnorm? Did you run away real fast? If I saw a Linnorm, I'd probably run...I copied a book about them once. Cool pictures. Are they as big as the books say?"

Kyson looks over his shoulder as if a Linnorm might be right there waiting for him.

"I didn't know you used to manage caravans. I think I forgot that if I ever knew it. Sounds like a safe, easy job, huh? Ever want to go back to doing that? Or do you like what we are doing now?"

"Never saw one alive, but me father killed one and displayed the carcus in our court yard. So yeah, I saw one. Big enough to eat ya whole they are."

-----------------------------

"Sure would, but it's not as easy as you imagine. There are plenty of bandits and beast to make caravaning a difficult life. But if you know to hire enough protection and how to deal with bandits by steel and coin, it's not so bad."

"Well, I'm from Kalsgard, nearest the Lands of the Linnorm Kings has to a capital city. And so far north that it snows in the summer. And I traveled all the way to Eledar on foot... Dargon pauses to gulp some ale.

"It wasn't a straight path, mind you. I went back and forth between Kalsgard and many of the Varisian cities selling Kopparberget ore. Those days, ruins made for good camps, if nobody made a home of them first," Dargon continues before pausing to finish off his ale.

"But I've never made a point to explore any of 'em, when managing caravans, you don't have time for that sort of thing."

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

"Danger or no, these legs do need ta feel da earth under 'em," Dargon buts in. "I'll be coming with ya."

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

dwarven:
"One more reason to stay on land."

With the creature dead, Dargon yells, "Is everyone outta the water?"

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Dargon continues to swim towards and attempt to help Zstelian pin the creature. However, Dargon has no mind of capturing it and will do lethal grapple damage.

Swim:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23, 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11, 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20

Round 8

Watching Zstelian sink and not knowing that it's on purpose, Dargon gets worried and decides it's time to forgo caution and go back for a swim.

Dive (Swim): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Dargon mumbles to himself.

dwarven:
"Come on old warrior, stop trying to out fish the fish."

Khaz laughs quietly, "Oh, he's just generally arrogant, rude, and disrespectful. I'm sure if we make a concerted effort to befriend him, he'll change his tune soon enough." It is difficult to be rude as a newt, isn't it?

"Perhaps I'll invite him for a few rounds in the ring to teach him some respect." Dargon considers aloud.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Dargon will go last. He's afraid of the net chair, or more correctly afraid of the deep sea. A bit irrational as he is actually an excellent swimmer but that's dwarves for you.

Zstelian takes another bite of his Grouse before glancing at Kyson.

"Zstelian, having a name puts everyone on notice that we've got each others backs and that messin' with one of us is messin' with all of us. Plus, it helps the bards out when they make songs about our heroics."

Sekathral wrote:

"Not The Hydra, or the Lotus Eaters? Er, you're the boss", says Sekathral, slightly surprised that anyone would associate him with anything remotely angelic. "Fine by me. If the worst comes to the worst, we can leave it, like Zstelian says, or just write words on a bit of parchment and pull 'em out of a hat."

He continues to give Kyson odd looks out of the corner of his eye.

Ooh, that'll fit snugly in my gloryholder, Bishop!

I knew those breeches were too tight. I bent over to pick up my coin-purse, they ripped right up the seam, and there I was, right in the middle of the market, with my gloryholder...

You've got half an hour, and it's 10 gold extra if you want the glo... By Erastil's confirmed bachelorhood, I've got to stop thinking about this.

Sekathral shakes his head violently,as if trying to rid himself of an unpleasant thought.

"Might not be a suitable subject for the dinner table, but who's the, er, "gent" with the horse?", he asks Lavinia

"I've been wondering that myself. I never took you as one to put up with pretentious..." Dargon stop mid-sentence, sits and takes a drink as he realizes it was her mother he was remembering.

"So...Dargon...make any friends yet? I met this Priest of Iomedae, Father Feres. Seems nice enough. We do morning sermons together."

"Yeah I was there the morning before. It's strange, he didn't seem to interested in praying. But maybe Iomedae is just a tough god to worship."

Sekathral wrote:
"Rising sun sounds good to me, just in plain gold", puts in Sekathral. "What do you lads think?", he asks Dargon, Zstelian and Silvio.

"Sounds good to me, but just as important, we need a name, like these Ravens..."

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Dargon suddenly gets up and runs out topside... coming back about ten minutes later, just as Lavinia responds to Kyson.

"I can't wait! Dargon exclaims. "Shore leave is my favorite part of traveling by water."

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

I think its a chicken and egg problem. We need more to respond to on both sides of the fence. Dargon tried to provoke conversation by some of his activities but there hasn't been much of a bit yet.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

"That's perhaps the least enthusiastic priest I've ever meet, I guess Iomedae is not an easy god to worship."

"Don't worry captain, I'll toughen this lot up for ya fur sure, but I won't break any of 'em".

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Morning 1
Dargon prays with Kyson. At first glace he appears to be following the priest's lead but Dargon is actually whispering dwarven prayers to Torag.

At breakfast Dargon attempt to recruit a few sailors to participate in a freindly brawl at nightfall.

Afternoon 1
Dargon is mostly absent for the afternoon, though sailors will periodically catch him doing strange things like balancing on a barrel while fighting a dangling rope.

Night 1
Dargon attempts to hold the aforementioned brawling match. He begins with an open invitation to any sailor willing to challenge him.

Dargon is effectively trying to keep in practice so he fights below his ability as he tests out some new techniques.

Then, win or lose, he moves on to gambling on sequent matches, up until the sailors lose interest or the captain breaks up his fun.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

"How is is that human nobles get away with crying about everything?" Dargon asks retorically. "You'd not see that belly achin' with me kin."

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

When Dargon spots the half-orc and elf go at it, a small flame deep inside all dwarves lights up as he secretly thinks maybe they'll take each other out. But with a sting of guilt at the thought he quickly over comes it and sets out to address the squabble before it grows out of hand.

"Be careful of getting on his bad side out here. He's likely more at home here than any of us," Dargon warns as he approaches Khaz.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Dargon continues minimize his interactions with the crew, which likely adds to the fact that he looks as out of place on the ship as he feels.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Knowing little about sea life, Dargon doesn't think anything of the horse coming aboard. So he continues his kuji-in rituals in hope that he won't be asked to help with running the boat.

During his kuji-in rituals, Dargon day dreams about the blunders he would be party too if he was forced to help with running the ship.

Dargon shakes the images away and mumbles,

dwarven:
"Don't pick me. For everyone's sake..."

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

Dargon gives up on the gnome and decides to put some of his gambling knownledge to the test.

"Blah, everyone so busy getting the ship in order." Dargon thinks to himself as he realizes that there isn't much, other than helping to get the ship in order, a task he fears, and plans to avoid.

To pass the time, and to look busy enough that his is not pulled into ship work, Dargon decides to explore the kuji-in rituals that his master used to leture him about.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

"What's on the Isle of Dread that would interest a gnome? Dargon responds.

Male Dwarf Monk 5 [HP 54/54]

"That's the problem with the sea... no dwarves." Dargon thinks to himself before setting out to find someone to talk with.

"Oye, next time let the fart blow downwind, gnome!" Dargon blurts out as he walks up to the gnome in an attempt at conversation. "What brings you on this ship, anyway?"
