Gyorgy's blast knocks a goblin off its feet and back onto its back. Eugen slices across the chest of a goblin who staggers, only barely managing to stay up. His face fills with fear and he moves a step back, away from Eugen. That leaves only one goblin still attacking Mitnal. The other, the victim of the hammer blow, seems to be too befuddled to do anything but stare at the barbarian in shock at having been struck. The one goblin, shrieking and laughing, whirls his dog slicer in a mad dance of death without actually coming close to hitting Mitnal. Gyorgy's attack misses. Mitnal rolls to his feet but is unable to land a blow with his weapons. Jessa's cold ray strikes the arm of one of the goblins turning his skin bluish in that spot from the freezing cold. A moment later Eugen cuts down the same goblin. The five goblins shriek and surge forward. "Goblin's! Goblin's! Gobblliinns!!" they shriek, working themselves into a bit of a frenzy. Three of them, thinking Mitnal is off balance and easy prey (not to mention he was the first they saw), rush at the big barbarian. Goblins swarm Mitnal: (1d20+2=7, 1d20+2=8, 1d20+2=21)
One of them manages to nick Mitnal. The other two move in to attack Eugen, obviosly trying to set themselves up for a flanking attack. Attacking Eugen: (1d20+2=9, 1d20+2=4) Eugen manages to pretty well keep them away from hitting him. Kenzo charges in and knocks one of the goblins attacking Eugen to the ground. The creature tries to get back up but then slumps down, unmoving. Mitnal pulls himself up off the packed dirt floor in the midst of six goblins. The goblins seem as surprised as he is. they obviously thought the door would hold a little longer. Besides the goblins, there are a number of stuffed dog and horse heads mounted on the east wall that can readily be seen. Initiative: (1d20+2=9)

The kick is nice and solid. At least solid enough to make a large booming noise echo across the island. The door, mockingly, remains almost exactly where it was. Don't forget wooden doors have a hardness of 5. You can kick it apart with your foot but it might take a while if you continue to do only 3 points of damage. Trying to muscle it open is perhaps quicker (requiring strength checks) and at least two people can aid each other in the effort. We'll give this door a DC of 20 to break down. The ocean below gives no hint of secret caves, at least on this side of the bridge. There is perhaps, a faint suggestion of a cavernous opening in the water going under the mainland on the other side. But that's a long way down. The familiars can verify that there is only the one door into the complex. Though the walls are not in the best of conditions and could be climbed in several places. While Mitnal searches the dead goblins on the island, Gyorgy returns to Jessa. We will assume Kenzo stays on the island for now. As Gyorgy starts across the bridge, he notices some extra, unused posts in the ground near the beginning of the bridge and a tangle of ropes attached to the bridge and hanging uselessly down over the water. On the other side of the brdige, Gyorgy casts a quick cantrip and discovers the goblin shaman had a number of items on his possession with minor magical auras. The dirty leather armor he is wearing, as well as his well made cloak are both magical. Also, the wand and the four potions. Jeslara 'Jessa' Eventide wrote: Jessa removes the goblin's weapons and magic to ensure he can't use them when he awakens. Otherwise, she looks back across the bridge, worrying about her friends. She calls out to Gyorgy, "Do you see them? Are they okay?" Jessa can hear Mitnal singing quite loudly just out of sight. How does she know which is magical? Mitnal wrote:
Mitnal realizes that both of the goblins are now on the ground, dead or dying. Eugen appears to have rather quickly dispatched the other one while Mitnal was still singing. Eugen Enescu wrote:
No. Not quite. You get to roll another d8 (so it could be an eight; or a one) but you also get to add your strength bonus again. So it becomes 7+3+3+d8 (with a final result somewhere between 14 and 21). Regardless,... Eugen cuts through the capering goblin down with a single swing of his sharp blade. The goblin capers one more time, feels at the gaping neck wound, and with a literal croak, falls backwards, onto the ground, unmoving. Mitnal and Eugen rush to where Kenzo is embattled. They can attack this round. Jessa and Gyorgy are free to be moving wherever they want - two rounds worth of actions and movements. As they are not in the battle, I'll just allow them to combine their actions into one post each. Goblins on the Island - round 11
Kenzo misses with his attack. Goblins attacking Kenzo: (1d20=13, 1d20=16)
The goblins begin trying to flank Kenzo. They don't quite succeed but they distract him enough to allow one of them to slice him with the little beast's dogslicer. "I'm a goblin, your just dumb!" shrieks the goblin in delight, capering suddenly. Jessa stabilizes the goblin spell caster, keeping him from dying, wondering where this divine energy is springing from. Jessa: Spoiler:
Jessa's dilemma is fine but don't push it too far. She does need to use a holy symbol for several of her clerical spells and abilities - like channeling positive energy. Mitnal cannot see Kenzo and the goblins but he can hear them. Eugen can see the back of Mitnal. Goblins on the Island - round 10
As Kenzo catches up to the goblins they stop and with a savage cry throw themselves towards him. Goblins attack Kenzo: (1d20=13) Attacking Kenzo: (1d20=7) Fortunately for the young monk, he is able to stop before impaling himself on their rusty dogslicers and having stopped he leaps back from a particularly vicious cut. Mitnal and Eugen both dispatch a dog, allowing Kenzoe to chase freely after the fleeing goblins. There is quite a bit of vegetation around the old fort, but there is a well traveled path leading from the front door and around the sides, through the thorny growth. Kenzo swiftly overtakes the smaller goblins. Gyorgy Elberion wrote:
You did notice that your heavenly fire hit the dog in the last round and did nothing to it - right? While the one goblin dog continues to try and interact violently with an illusion, the other one continues to snap and growl at Mitnal. Fortunately for the Barbarian, Kenzo's sword thrust gave it enough pause that its attacks attempts are pretty feeble. The goblins each grip their dog slicers uncertainly. In goblin, one says to the other, Spoiler:
"Maybe too many, many. Perhaps, we should run." And with that, both goblins shreik and turn to flee westward along the side of the stockade. Goblins at the bridge - round 8
Kenzo can attack the goblin dogs diagonally between the other two men. Another of the goblins falls to the ground, struck by Gyorgy's fire. Two of the dogs continue to press their attack against the shoanti barbarian.
Attacking Eugen: (1d20=11)
One of the dogs, egged on by his goblin master, continues to try and attack one of the illusions. The other goblin shrieks with delight as the two dogs in front of him growl and snap at Mitnal. Goblins at the bridge - round 8
Eugen and Kenzo move up behind and to the side of Mitnal. Jessa manages to squeeze in her illusions to either side of the two men in front. Gyorgy strikes another goblin but does not drop it. Likewise, Kenzo's dagger, though it injures one of the dogs, does little more. Goblin Dogs Attack Mitnal and Eugen: (1d20=19, 1d20=11, 1d20=2) The dogs press forward, three of them at least, and try to attack. Though Mitnal is not getting any hits in, he at least is able to fend off the two pressing against him, all fangs and barks. Eugen likewise is able to keep himself from getting bit. The fourth dog, directed by his master, lashes out at one of the illusions. Just as Mitnal steps off the bridge, Kenzo and Eugen start to cross. Gyorgy slams his heavenly fire into one of the goblins, knocking it from its mount. Suddenly behind Kenzo and Eugen, a squad of warriors moves past them to flank Mitnal. The goblins, seeing the warriors on the bridge act react initially with glee which quickly turns to bafflement and surprise. Will Saves: (1d20-1=17, 1d20-1=0, 1d20-1=16)
The remaining three goblins take the time to dismount and the goblin dogs are urged towards Mitnal, though one seems to be urging his dog to attach the illusionary warriors to Mitnal's sides. This seems to be confusing to the dog. Mitnal easily blocks the one dog trying to attack him. The mounted goblins lost one round of actions. That likely won't happen again. Mitnal is still on the bridge. The goblins look like they are prepared to keep him there. They look scared but determined. There are after all, four of them and one of him.
