The goblins in battle move close to the party, and the goblin dogs dart in also (no longer controled by riders).
Darian attacks the goblin dogs (they are his only AoOs).

The last goblin rider moves off, withdrawing to the south.
The other goblins hold up in a growing mass, watching the battle carefully (as if torn between attack or retreat).

The hobgoblins and their leader in the cave seem to also be waiting and watching (although the keen eyed will notice them drinking some potions).

Sorry, I've been busy.
I'll get to the next move soon.

I can't check the map at work, but just south of Darian (toward the bottom of the map) should be Felix (F) and Darian's Dog (Dd).

Just a reminder for Soth-Loren (and everyone else who might act).
The first elemental attacked you, and you failed that save, so you are still on fire.

The result of Darian's killing spree is many dead goblins and two dispatched fire elementals.

Current Map after Darian's actions

Well, I guess Darian is just holding his action... since all he did was make AoO's.

Between the arrows and the Sound Burst, the goblin hoard thins. The goblins are wavering, despite their warchanter's song, and even the remaining hobgoblin archer retreats back into the cave.

Just as all seems to be going well, two small, flaming creatures appear next to Soth-Loren and Darian!
The fire elementals attack, and heartened by their appearance, the goblins charge forward!
F1 attacks Soth-Loren: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

More goblins join the group facing Darian, but still seem to be a bit overcome by his size. Their bravery seems to grow with their growing numbers, and the warchanter's song edging them on. The appearance of some goblin riders almost tips their decision, but they remain in a noisy mob for now.

for those who speak goblin:
"You go firstest! No, wes be behind yous every step! Wes hased firstys time before, yous has firstys now! No Push, wes go soon, maybe!" and such from the mob.

Felix, the goblin alchemist has some concealment from you because of the crowd of goblins.
20% miss chance. 1d100 ⇒ 18

The crowd of goblins continues to grow, although they seem a bit more hesitant to attack the giant Darian. The goblin bomber ducks back into the crowd, no doubt planning further mischief. He slurps down something from another gourd.
The goblin warchanter continues to inspire the goblins, who look to be working themselves into a frenzy.
In the far distance, the odd baying of goblin hounds sounds, indicating that some of the animals from further in the villages have been mounted and are on their way (gr1 thru gr4 are mounted goblins).

The two hobgoblin archers don't hesitate at all, but fire at the enlarged Darian.

Quick updates for planning...
Felix's shots hit the goblin alchemist, but do not put him down.

Soth-Loren strike downs the hobgoblin he was fighting at last.

New Map

Looking at the map, I find that the Goblin Alchemist missed Darian but put the miss in Felix's square.
So Darian, Felix, and Taravel all take 3 HP splash damage from the bomb.

Slight catch-up, while still not having time to map properly...
Darian slays the three goblins he attacked, and moves back without a problem.
Felix manages to kill the archer that was shooting at him.

The goblin swarm grows a bit, but only inches forward a bit, keeping out of range of Darian. Even the chanting of the warsinger goblin seems a litle flat.
Until a goblin with a skull perched on his head moves into the crowd. The goblins part for him, and look to be encouraged by his presence. He pulls out a gourd, drops something into it, and then hurls the suddenly flaming concotion at Darian!
Ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 1 = 11

GM roll:
1d8 ⇒ 4

Splash Damage: 3
The bomb misses Darian, landing just behind and to the right of him. The resulting burst of flame is huge, covering a huge area (10' radius)!

The goblins cheer wildly at the firey destruction, and even the two hobgoblins with bows pause to watch the firey holocaust.

The hobgoblin in the illusion with Soth-Loren pays scant attention however, and tries to slay his opponet before Soth-Loren can slay him.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

The Hobgoblin shaman glares at Emyralda, and then retreats back into the cave. The 'Pretty Lady' jeers for a second or two longer, then scurries after him.

I will get a map up soon.

Taravel and Emyralda, waiting on your actions.

Although I can see you want the rest to speak up about the plan before committing.

No, two misses. Sorry Darian.

Soth-Loren, the hobgoblin is badly injured, but still not dropped after your attack hits. But then the hobgoblins are the tough targets here (they have levels).

Sorry Felix, but Taravel moves before you, so she gets Y14. You have to settle for Y13.

GM Roll:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 DC 10

The Worg, being badly hurt, flees the fight, rushing off deeper into the villages.
The goblins continue to swarm forward, although only two (g21, g27) manage to get close enough to Darian to attack. One of them (g27) is injured from Taravel's acid splash.
The chanting goblin (gw)in the back continues his song.
Goblin 21 attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Goblin 27 attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

The hobgoblin that Soth-Loren is battling looks to be bloodied, but still on his feet, as he continues to attack.
Hobgoblin 2 attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

The wounded hobgoblin (hg1) slips back into the cave...

The Hobgoblins with bows haven't tried shooting into the fog yet, and I haven't rolled anything for the goblin horde, since they have other targets to attack and swarm.

have at it, everyone!
Just remember, the Worg now goes in the middle of the fight (although after Darian now).

Thr goblins swarm towards Darian. He swings his ranseur, attacking them as they rush forward, but there are more than he can kill.
Darian's AoO's:
AoO 1: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 1 = 10

More goblins continue to arrive from deeper in the goblin villages.

The hobgoblin that retreated pulls out a potion and swallows it.

GM Roll:

Had to work all weekend and holiday.
Hence no progress.

Between Darian's attack and Emyralda's crossbow bolt, the hobgoblin riders falls, leaving only the Worg left standing.
He snaps at Taravel as she retreats past (to U14).
Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Soth-Loren swings at the second hobgoblin and draws blood with his hit.

Waiting on Felix's action, before all the bad guys go.

Current Map

There will be a slight delay, as I'm not at my home computer currently.
I will sum up what all of you have done soon, though.
This weekend, by the latest!

It's only worth something if you post. (~_^)
The way it has been working is that people post their actions, and I apply them in initiative order (and ask for changes if need be).
So post your actions (or tell me if you are waiting for someone elses action).

Taravel, you can get to U14. But going past the mounted hobgoblin will get you attacked, since he is waiting just for that, and has his action held to attack you as you try to pass.
She's boxed in, and might need help to get out.

Taravel's claw guts the small goblin, leaving him bleeding on the ground.
Darian charges into Terra's fog.
Darian ends up at AA13, 10' away from hg2, and next to his dog, Gopher.
Both Emyralda and Soth-Loren hit the hobgoblin, but he refuses to fall, although badly damaged.
Felix misses the goblin, and retreats.

Felix:
You can only move to R15. Look at your move (20') and the weight you are carrying! Money has weight too!

The goblins continue to swarm out of the villages.
Seeing Taravel by herself, several goblins crowd her, swinging their dogchoppers at her.
g17 attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
g21 attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
g22 attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

A goblin (g23) takes a shot at Felix, while his partner (g24) climbs onto an empty wagon to get a better view.
g23 attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

The remaining hobgoblin rider moves to cut off Taravel.
Move to Q12, readies an attack.

The badly wounded hobgoblin (hg1) stumbles out of the fog, and retreats.
His partner continues to attack Soth-Loren.
hg2 attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

The two archer hobgoblins take shots at Felix.
hg3 attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
hg4 attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 3

And finally, the female hobgoblin returns to the ledge, followed by a more impressive hobgoblin, painted and befeathered, wearing a firecat pelt.

GM Rolls:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

The female hobgoblin frowns at the cloud of fog, but the male hobgoblin just laughs and shouts out in a booming voice..

Work has been a problem lately, and since I can't access my maps from here, it does cause me a problem, since Darian can't see them right now either.

Felix, you look ok. Post, and I'll try to get the whole thing pulled together this weekend.

Both the goblin and the Worg fall to your AoO (because the Worg got the crit!).

Thank you for reminding me, Terra. They've been missing so often, I forgot that one of them still sees the illusion.

GM Roll:

Concealment saves Emyralda from getting hit!

Since most of the others aren't interacting with the illusion, I have them treat it as a fog cloud, which is why the archers haven't started in on it yet. Your illusion is doing something.

Soth-Loren took the archetype Mendevian Priest.
Mendevian Priest (Cleric Archetype)
People of high and low character flock to Mendev for glory, plunder, or the desire to slay demons from the Worldwound. Crusade-minded clerics of Iomedae, Gorum, and other churches come to Mendev, learn battlefield tactics and the weaknesses of demons, and strike out to make a name for themselves. A Mendevian priest has the following class features.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Mendevian priest is proficient with all simple weapons, light armor, medium armor, heavy armor, shields (except tower shields), and the favored weapon of her deity.
Diminished Spellcasting: A Mendevian priest chooses only one domain from her deity’s list of domains rather than the normal two domains. In all other respects, this works like and replaces the standard cleric domain ability.
Demonic Knowledge (Ex): At 1st level, when making Knowledge (planes) checks regarding demons, demonic cults, and their magic, a Mendevian priest gains a bonus on the check equal to half her class level (minimum +1) and can make these Knowledge skill checks untrained.
Teamwork Feat: At 4th level and 8th level, the Mendevian priest gains a bonus feat. This must be a teamwork feat, Alignment Channel, Greater Spell Penetration, Leadership, or Spell Penetration. The cleric must meet the prerequisites of the selected bonus feat.

Continuing on...
Hobgoblin Rider 1 repositions himself, pulling out another potion and drinking it.

GM Roll:

The now riderless Worg moves to attack Darian.
Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

The Hobgoblins in the fog illusion continue their attacks. The first (hg1) turns to attack Emyralda, and the second (hg2) continues to attack Soth-Loren.

Not really.

If you took the average CR 10 foe from the Bestiary (which is where the 24AC came from), you would see it had 130 HP, and you did not do 130 HP damage.

So no, you did not kill a target before it gets a round to smack you back.

New Map

I remember Gopher. Since he's in Guard mode, he will wait until someone comes up to threaten Terra, and then step in with an attack.

Update after Darian's attacks.
Darian kills the goblin, but both his other attacks bounce off the armor of the Hobgoblin rider.

New Map

Darian, you killed g14 as he moved up with your AoO.
G10 is still there.
If you want to want to start your cleave with g10, and move to your Hobgoblin (hr2), go ahead and let me know.

I had already had to move Taravel back 5' so you could attack last round. Now you have a building at your back. You need to change weapons.
Reach weapons don't usually allow you to attack within their reach.
that is, if you have a 10' reach, your weapon won't usually allow an attack at 5' range.

No, I said you had to make a DC 10 Perception Check to hear the song over the noise of the falls.
You are within range to get the benefit if you make the perception check.
The difficulty will go up if you go deeper into the villages; I'll tell you if you have to make another check if you decide to go deeper into the villages.

It is because of your AoO's that things get so messed up.
And yet, I like the fact that you are doing so much damage!
Keep it up, I'll just have to keep better watch, and remind people.
And don't forget to remind me of things either.

And speaking of reminders, did you check to see if you could hear Emyralda's song over the noise of the falls? That's another +1 to hit and damage!

Ride Check to avoid damage to Worg (DC16): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Worg missed by Darian's AoO!

Result of Darian's AoO attacks; Goblin (g14) is slain.
Taravel's Worg Rider is bloodied, but still alive!

Darian injures the Hobgoblin attacking Taravel, but does not kill him.
Darian again hits his hobgoblin, but although he is bloodied, he does not fall!

The goblins continue to wander towards the battle from deeper within the village.
The goblin (g10) attacking Darian moves a bit, and attacks!
Dogslicer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Another goblin (g14) moves up to attack Darian.
Darian gets an AoO.
If the goblin lives; Dogslicer: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3

The goblin (g16) by Felix draws his bow and fires.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 4 = 12

The Worg Rider (hr1) moves up to attack Taravel.
Her longspear gives her an AoO. Darian also gets an AoO on him.
If he lives, he and his mount attack Taravel.
Hobgoblin Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Worg Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

The Worg Rider (hr2) attacks Darian.
Hobgoblin Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Worg Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

The two Hobgoblins in Terra's fog attack Soth-Loren.
Hg1 Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Hg2 Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Soth-Loren manages to not get hit.

Still Waiting on Darian's actual turn... he just did his AoOs.
Moving taravel back 5' because her weapon has reach, which means it can attack at 10' but not at 5' (except as an improvised weapon).
Moving on...

Felix attacks the goblins nearest him again (G11 & G15).

GM Rolls:
Felix Percep: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Arrow 1: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage 1: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Arrow 2: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage 2: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

He drops both goblins, but the one of the others yells and points him out.

Soth-Loren attacks the wounded hobgoblin.

GM Rolls:
He's with-in 30' for the bard song.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

He hits, but the hobgoblin remains on his feet.

Waiting for Darian, and reminding him that his current weapon has reach, if he wants to step back...

Because we are fighting near a waterfall, I'm going to have to rule that anyone outside of 30' of Emyralda will have to make a free action perception check DC 10 to hear her over the noise of the falls.

The Hobgoblin attacking Darian takes the damage, but that does not slow him down.

Rolls:
Ride check vs Darians attack on the Worg DC 24: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Ride check vs Taravel's attack on the Worg DC 14: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

The Hobgoblin manages to move his Worg mount to cause Darian's attack to miss.
Taravel manages to hit the Worg despite the rider's attempt to avoid the attack.

So Darian kills no one, and the Finishing Cleave is unused.
Continue with the round.

Cleave is a trap build if the GM doesn't give you some cleaves.
I could always make sure that all combatants aren't close to each other.
And wait until you have multiple attacks. Cleave takes your full action, so when you get hasted and have 3 attacks, it is hard to justify cleaving two guys.

BTW, the Hobgoblins are classed creatures, and so have HP and Feats. Be careful!

Yes, I missed that. You did indeed hit Hobgoblin 1, but not enough damge to kill him.

Yes, that would stand to reason. You have so many AoO attacks, and can use them where you want.
