Hello there,

I had a player ask a great question, and I could not find the answer. I admit upfront that my search-fu is weak at times.

His question was:

Do you need to roll a diplomacy check, as discussed on page 94 of the core book, to get the cast-a-ways to fill camp roles?

Under their headings, it says that they may fill these rolls, but not that they volunteer for it.

My initial feeling is to have them volunteer, but then what are the point of the morale and attitude mechanics affecting diplomacy DC's in the first place?

Hello there,

I am playing Wart in DM Talomyr's Council of Thieves AP.

I have found that while I REALLY enjoy playing an alchemist, I feel that there is more there that I am just not seeing.

Would you care to critique my build, and let me know if there is some glaring problem you see, or if there is something that I could do better?

I am not going to change where the character is currently, as I seriously doubt that I could anyway, but I would appreciate some advice on where I should look at going with the character in the future.

Here is the Character Sheet: Link Here

And here is an example of what I am capable of: Link Here <Warning, Potential Spoilers for those of you who have not played Council of Thieves AP!>

Some minor notes:

  • The GP listed is not exactly what I have, I have some more, I just haven't added the last loot split onto the sheet.
  • I am beginning to see that the Cold Bomb discovery is just about vital in this AP. That will be my next choice, I believe...if you have a better idea, let me know, and why.
  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!! NO SPOILERS! I am enjoying this AP, and would like it to stay a surprise!

Also, if your comments are outright rude, troll-esque, or inflammatory, expect to be ignored. Thank you very much.

    I certainly appreciate your consideration,

    Wart

  • Sorry if this is the wrong place, if it needs moving, please do so with my best wishes!

Did anything ever come from the promise of additional content around GenCon cause we rocked the friend/like status?

    Just curious,

    Berwick

Male Why's it always got to be that way? DM 14

You find yourself aboard the Jenivere, a cargo ship from Magnimar, headed south to Sargava. It left the port city of Magnimar on the 15th day of Pharast, 4710, and has made many stops along the way. It is now the 27th of Sarenith, the 103rd day of the journey, and the end is finally drawing near.

You have spent some time aboard the Jenivere, and have at least passing familiarity with these other passengers making the passage to Sargava, and a few notable members of the Jenivere’s crew.

    Aerys Mavato:
This severe half-elven woman boarded in Port Peril, where she immediately got into a scrape with a crude sailor. She spends most of her time in her bunk, seeming to purposefully avoid fraternizing with the ship’s other passengers.

    Gelik Aberwhinge:
A sharply dressed gnome from Magnimar, Gelik spends much of his time writing in the ships’ common areas, and takes every opportunity to tell long-winded stories, boast of past journeys, or quip about anything in his field of view.

    Ieana:
A bookish Varisian scholar who tends to keep to herself, Ieana is traveling to Sargava to explore the ancient ruins there. Rumors aboard the ship alternately suggest that she’s the Jenivere’s owner, a Chelish agent, or Captain Kovack’s secret lover. Ieana keeps mostly to herself, and grows more intent on her studies with each mile the ship travels closer to Eleder.

    Ishirou:
A scruffy human of Tian heritage, Ishirou boarded at Bloodcove and waits to reach Sargava with a quiet eagerness. Aloof but not rude, he gives the impression of one who has had a hard life but find himself currently without direction.

    Jask Derindi:
A prisoner loaded aboard in Corentyn, Captain Kovack sees to this taciturn human’s needs with curt courtesy, but insists he be left alone, sequestered in the ship’s brig.

    Sasha Nevah:
This red-haired human boarded the Jenivere in Ilizmagorti. Since leaving Mediogalti Island, the woman’s somber demeanor has gradually faded, revealing a boisterous and optimistic personality. None have yet questioned her about her missing left pinky finger.

Also, everyone has had a chance to meet and speak with the Captain and the First Mate, and of course...the Cook:

    Captain Alizandru Kovack:
A Chelish man whose family has made the Magnimar to Eleder run for generations, Captain Kovack is pleasant enough with his passengers, but a strict disciplinarian when dealing with his crew.

    Alton Devers:
The Jenivere’s first mate is friendly with both passengers and crew, but he sometimes seems to chafe under the strong discipline of Captain Kovack.

    Rambar Terillo:
A taciturn man from Senghor, Ship’s Cook Terillo has served in that capacity aboard several ships, though apparently not on account of his culinary skills, which seem to be limited to watery soups. He is also known as "Cookie"

The passengers have often had dinner with the Captain, as maritime law forbids fraternization between Captain and crew.

Information for the Crew or those passengers interested enough to ask any crew member:
The Jenivere is a large merchant ship, a Wyvern-class vessel commonly used by the Inner Sea nations for trade, exploration, and even war, valued for its combination of seaworthiness and capacity for carrying numerous passengers. Wyvern-class ships have made the dangerous journey to Azlant, Arcadia, and even around the southern tip of Garund, but the Jenivere and her crew run less perilous voyages. For the past several years, Captain Alizandru Kovack has made the western run between Magnimar to the north and Eleder to the south and then back with few complications, despite the fact that his route carries him through waters controlled by the piratical Free Captains of the Shackles, brushes with the eternal winds of the Eye of Abendego, and into periodic conflicts with the Nidalese navy. Although Captain Kovack’s crew appreciate this record, the baseless fear that the Jenivere has robbed luck’s coffers one too many times lies heavy on the hearts of many.

While the Jenivere is a merchant ship, primarily concerned with delivering goods to and from Sargava, she’s traditionally kept several compartments open to take on paying passengers. This trip is no exception.

The weather has been magnificent these past few days, the sails full of wind, and the waters playful but not stormy.

The Jenivere has at last began the final stage of the journey across Desperation Bay, and the Captain has reported expected landfall to be with the next few days, Gozreh willing.

While it may have been kept under the radar before, it is now quite noticeable that all is not well aboard the Jenivere . The crew seem edgy, and there are several muttered conversations ended quickly as the passengers are spotted or draw near.

    Crew Members Only:
The current claptrap is that the course is off! And by Captain's Orders!

    Yuuwa only please:
The Captain has seemed bizarre recently, and for whatever reason assigned you to assist the crew in its final preparations, rather than your job of navigating the final approach into Eleder. The course change happened after he took you off the duty.

Feel free to socialize a bit. The time is just after high noon.

    Hello there!

We are going to be getting into the Serpent's Skull Adventure Path, and we need another player. You can read more about the group here.

The expectation is that the player chosen will post at least once per weekday, with weekends being optional, along with communication if regular posting can not be done for whatever reason. We all have lives here, it would just be nice to know if you are not going to be available.

    Character Creation Rules:
    • 2nd level PCs
    • No evil alignments
    • 20 point buy for ability scores
    • average starting gold by class
    • Core classes only, no APG classes
    • No traditionally evil races (goblins, orcs, drow, etc.)
    • Faction's are in play, so please make sure that you are a member of the Pathfinder Society.
    • APG rules may be used, feats, race and class tweaks, equipment, etc. Just not the new classes.
    • All the stuff from the Armory is also allowed.

Please post character concepts, and we will be voting on them starting Aug 13.

Good luck, and I certainly hope to see you soon!

Hmm, my search-fu is weak these days.

Has anyone done a conversion of the Harrower Prestige Class from pg. 224 of the Pathfinder Campaign Setting?

As I understand it, the whole book was still 3.5?

Any thoughts on the matter would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Berwick

    Hey Howdy,

I did as much of a search as my 1 skill point in search fu would allow, and I could not find anyone fessing up to being from Boulder.

Anyone out there gaming in the Boulder/Longmont/Louisville/Broomfield area?

More specifically gaming with Pathfinder Society?

    Thanks for your patience,

    Berwick
