For each new round, at the appropriate time, will you be publically posting the guidelines for the submissions of each round or will that information be provided only to those who make the cut into each new level?

It seems people are very interested in knowing the criteria for:

  • Design a country
  • Design a villain (complete with stat block)
  • Design three thematically linked monsters
  • Design an encounter
  • Submit a full adventure proposal

I think most people will understand if it is kept to the contestants only, but then it seems there may be others who might enter into a suicide pact if they don't get to see the criteria.

I thought this was such a great idea I told my players that they were expected to all submit items. We are a bunch of old farts (for gamers anyway) who have seen the industry change significantly in the past 30 years. To encourage these guys and gals to make submissions I told them all that I would find a way to work into our existing game their items, where possible, so I have seen nine of the items submitted and can tell you I wouldn't want to have to select the best one out of the bunch. I do not envy the judges the work they are facing nor the criticisms they are facing, because it will not be possible to please all of us.

So to the judges and staff of Paizo I want to extend a heartfelt thank you and appreciation for having the courage to do something like this and to put in the extra time and energy to give back to the community of players and masters who support this industry. You are appreciated.

May the best non-gender specific person win!

If you do post the items with comments, will you rank them 1-32 with 1 the best item in the judges scoring and 32 being the item that was on the cuff of making/not making it?

Also, keep in mind this is for the RPG Superstar! Not the Wondrous Item Superstar, which is why there are further challenges to pass through. I suspect that it may be possible that some entrants will be better at some aspects of the contest than others. We may see someone with an excellent Wondrous Item really flop on one of the later legs of the competition. I am anxious to see the candidates who make it to the end of the challenge, for they really will be well rounded and well deserving of the title RPG Superstar! Good Luck to everyone who enters the contest, it seems to be measuring up to being a real nail-biter. I am enjoying reading through the posts, there seems to be a lot of really qualified talent out there.

In the rules, I noted that there are a few days specifically alloted for people to run the contestants submissions around the boards for discussions, for the next rounds, will those contestants selected to be voted on be allowed to answer questions on the message boards relating to their submissions? I would like to be able to talk to them via post if allowed to submit questions to the authors.
