Friends have no price..pt. 1.
By Michael McClanathan in Pathfinder RPG Group facebook...

We got to the entrance to the cave where a there was a large statue sitting upon a throne. I thought I was being pretty quiet especially given the lack of any sort of cover but I must have made some errant noise because the statue stood and guarded the entrance. I surmised that the throne itself might hold the answer to activation or decativation of the guardian, so I went over to it and noticed the seat had arcane sigils of which I could not decipher. I distracted the statue while my friends started to attack the chair. The creature started to come after me, I honestly don't remember much after that though I did take a little hurting from it.

I remember standing rear guard as my friends entered the cave after destroying the statue. Jarlen, Skrag, Thugar, Trygg, and Varod entered the cave. Taryn and I stood without acting as rear scouts just in case anything tried to sneak in. After a few moments I heard a bellow that could only be Skrag right after the mountain shook from within. I went in to investigate utilizing my skills. Taryn came in after me but I made sure I was well ahead of his noise making. I entered a rather large chamber from which there were many tunnels leading in various directions. I found one entrance that had a disabled pit trap in front of it so I headed into that tunnel. Just as I was about to enter, Trygg and Varod came out with Skrag carrying a limp and obviously dead Thugar. Now I knew the reason for bellow. Thugar...dead. Where was Jarlen? Up the tunnel, dead as well according to Skrag. I left my potions with the group so that at the very least they could heal up enough to get out. Trygg gained consciousness and followed me into the tunnels. We went up a ways and suddenly I heard...nothing. All sound was gone. We had entered an area of magical silence. I saw Jarlen's body lying there and I wanted to run and grab him and then avenge his, and Thugar's deaths. I should have taken the opportunity to scream though no one would've heard, but I needed to focus. I gestured to Trygg to grab Jarlen and get out. The moment that he did we all lit up with a purple fire. The fire did no harm but lit us up for easy marking. So much for my sneaking in and killing the supposed drow that crawled up from whatever stink hole of a home they live in.

We left the cave and made the immediate decision to head to the hermit as he was the only one with enough magical power to possibly bring back both Jarlen and Thugar.

Hi Everyone,
Just to let you know of the caliber of players we have here. I ask that the players
write a journal entry of what happened in the game thru the eyes of there character.
Some creativity of the players is just outstanding! So to give you an example of
this here is TYRIS: .....

**********
Vigilance. I hear tale there's gold to be had and a name to be made in a town called Vigilance. My name Tyris and I aim to do both. It doesn't take long to realize that everyone in that town is talking about the increased numbers of Orcs and Goblins in the area. Things like that happen for a reason, I figure I'll head out and see whats going on.

I trounce around in those mountains for damn near a week. Orcs leave pretty big tracks so it wasn't hard to figure out where they were all congregating. Looks like something else has been prowling around here too. Found some tracks that were made by boots too nice to be Orcs or Goblins, the pacing of half of em were likely made by Dwarves, maybe Orcs in irons, but probably Dwarves. Its worth the risk to follow them.

Low and behold I find a group of well armed, miss matched, dwarves and humans. Some of em with elf blood. I'd bet half my gold they were coming out of Vigilance just like I was. Safety in numbers I always say.

"So the plan is to run down there, grab the body while they're confused, and run out.", one of em said.

Now I don't clam to be good with introductions, and sometimes I blert things out without thinking, so don't ask me where I came up with this next line though it's probably one of the better ones, "Only Gods and fools would ride into that camp with them all up and armed and you don't look like Gods to me...", after some long stares I introduced myself. I was immediately answered by the biggest one, Shamus, who told me he was better lookin' than I was.

Probably true.

After some debate we determined that running into a throng of Orcs wasn't the best idea in the world. Burning building or not, but with a group this big we could probably start picking them off in small groups, and wouldn't you know it, they just let one out of the stockade. We all agreed headding to the highground and pelting them with arrows was a good idea.

Now I hate fighting Orcs. They swing hard and they don't quit until you've killed them. So seeing a small contingent of them heading toward me and a bunch of people I've never seen fight before makes me uneasy. Just as I was thinking "I just want this to be over with" Shamus was kind enough to shoot off the first arrow. The dwarves seemed bothered by it, but what ain't they bothered by? Turns out they can all fight, or use magic.

I learned that Gnomes are dangerous and smart, they can also clear your mind of all those random thoughts about what to eat tomorrow so you never miss. I learned that a man can jump ten feet in the air and get hit by large swords over and over again and keep killing. I learned that dwarves are good at killin' orcs.

We're all good at killin' orcs.

I think I'm going to stick around for a while and do some more of that.

I think you can see this is great!

Hi All,
Well, what a game we had! and I must say, this can be nothing short of a GREAT EPIC that is evolving before our very eyes!
Through the fire of battle the chafe is burnt away to reveal the finest GOLD!
I must say that even other players from the other games are saying to me that we sound like we have a lot of fun!
This is a complement that I pass on to you with great pride in this group.

Well, as last you recall:
The group was beset upon by orcs...or would I say that they were in the route that the orcs were coming through.
A battle was started when during a party discussion, Thane , noted something wrong...AND BIG!!!
a hand full of Orcs with a Ogre ! Ready to face this menace, Vorlut mounted and prepared to battle in the open.
Sheamus well...charge!!!!
When the smoked cleared 2 dead..many wounded. and time to get back to the Mines.

New recruits...
Dwarf Cleric {Royalty?! }
a kin of the one guard that was slain...
and A Barbarian Woman!!!

The rest of the tale I will leave to those that faced the dangers!!!

Still looking for maybe 1 more "Personality" to really get the game into the Stratosphere!!
Take a look at the Board we have for the game and read the Journals.

Hi,
Question,
When adding the party I put in a dwarf character and I can not adjust the speed of the dwarf to 20. Also, is there going to be a way for the feats
to be taken into account when it comes to inputting character info?

Thanks for all you have done.

Eric

Around where? I'm in the Joliet/Plainfield area, and I've seen a few meetup groups in the western suburbs/Chicago proper.

Sorry for the late reply. I am in the Westmont area, which is like near Downers Grove.

I am also looking for online play as well

I'm starting a group in your area if you are still looking for one.

Hi All,
Very new to this so please forgive me if the questions sounds a little
off.
Sorcerer Blood lines:
Are there any that a Sorcerer is not alowed to take?
Or any combination not allowed?
I have a Elf in the group who wants to take "ORC" Bloodline.
Seems a little off...
any advice and help is always greatful.

Thanks,
Eric
