I think Erik suggested the Calistril of 4709, but that's really just a reference to when the first adventure was released. Paizo doesn't like to hard-set dates in the APs because the idea is that you could run them at any time in any order without upsetting campaign setting continuity.

I'm going to start mine tomorrow on the 27th of Desnus, 4709.

I think it's a very good idea to have a date in mind for when the party explore the monastery: seeing as one of the statues has an inscription with the date 4691 AR, when the party finds that text, groups that haven't even considered the calendar up until that point are likely to enquire at least as to the current year...

That might be the explanation of how the mind control was broken (she doesn't "remember" having looked at the glowing McGuffin) but it could also depend on how short term: she might not remember being shot, but probably could remember that she was coming around on the flank.


If he lives, I may consider using him as a "potential buyer" of the scroll, although whether as an addition to the three already considering the purchase or to replace one of the existing NPCs at the dinner party remains to be seen for when we get a little closer to the event.

I shall shortly be starting to run Legacy of Fire for my group, but I have opted to use the Dungeons and Dragon's 4th Edition rules. Inspired in part by Scott Betts' excellent work at conversion of the Rise of the Runelords modules at Tales from the Rusty Dragon, I have decided to share my ideas, work, and any thoughts from my sessions of running the adventure at Blog Under a Wanderin' Star.

Now, I don't make any claims at being an expert DM or designer, but hope that the work in my blog, as well as reports of any problems I come across during the play sessions, will help others that look to move to using 4E for this excellent series of adventures.


That's some outstanding work and such a fantastically useful visual aid. From my viewing of the map, I was under the impression that there was a third section of balcony at the front (east side) of the chapel, under the window (at area A3d). I also thought the rafters had been intended to run above the balcony areas from the way that they were drawn over the top and also that it would see that the seats up here would have likely been set with a clear view of where I envisaged the pulpit at A2b, but the lack of any Climb checks to get up on to them from the balcony would seem to contradict that idea.

Now, I don't make any claims at being an expert DM or designer, although I have run a few sessions of 4th Edition in an Eberron based campaign, and combined with the wealth of knowledge found on forums devoted to D&D and the ease of the 4th Edition rules from the DM perspective, hope that there won't be too many mistakes made in the conversion work, but that by reporting on any that I do come across, it will be informative to any others that decide to run these excellent adventures under the 4th Edition ruleset.
